Ocean Palace Chinese Take Away in Northumberland

rude staff, food was not good. To be honest, if food is bad I usually don’t care as others might like the style and i simply prefer it different, but what i do not agree with is if you own any sort of shop or do any job that involves customer interaction, being rude is so not needed.

Delivery was quick and communication was good. The food however wasn’t good at all, ordered salt and pepper chips and the portion size was absolutely tiny and also had barely any flavour at all, salt and pepper chips are normally cooked with onions, peppers, chilli’s ect but these were just plain chips that seemed like they’ve been sprinkled with a bit of salt and some paprika it was shocking. ordered sweet and sour pork and they said that wasn’t available but we can have sweet and sour chicken and we expected this to be similar to the pork like shredded chicken in sweet and sour sauce but received chicken balls and a pot of sweet and sour sauce instead and the chicken balls were so dry and just not good at all. the smoked chicken is flavourless and chewy and the satay sauce was also completely flavourless too. the only good thing in the order was the plain soft noodles, wouldn’t be ordering from here again it was nearly £60 wasted on rubbish food.

Disgusting food, I rang up and was told to bring it back. When I took it back I was shouted at by staff, never experienced customer service like that in my life. Oh and told never to come back, you have no worries there, never again.

Food was cold and the paper bags were soggy when it arrived. We've used these for years. Complained that it was bad tonight. Told never to ring again. Don't worry we won't be after that disgusting performance

Had a House special curry,I can put up with the increased price but the quality was poor,still trying to work out what the squares of meat were .. spam or pork luncheon meat or am I wrong

Some meals are hitting missy! I find it is in some cases very bland.

I’ve been using Ocean Palace for about 5 years. The quality definitely dipped last year but it’s been better than ever recently. Prices are decent but they only accept cash, having previously accepted cards. I’ll not use anywhere else locally.

Always quality and generous portions - squid, chicken chow main, spring rolls, chips top and complementary prawn crackers class every time

My Meal is very greasy bit like oil and not good food

Have been using Ocean Palace so long they know me by name, and usually see me coming and get my collection order ready before I make to the door - No complaints from us!

This used to be such a good takeaway. There are 4 in Bedlington and 2 used to be great, including this one. I don't know what's happened but all 4 have gone right down in quality. The food is either dried up or tastes like nothing. Sauces are awful. Not going to get a good Chinese meal in Bedlington

I’m adamant northerners are just used to average food and call it ‘the best’. For the price I was expecting something special. But it’s average at best. Lacks flavour. You can tell it’s pre made, it literally took 5minutes to cook. The meat was chewy. The sauce was meant to be spicy/hot but had no kick. I was edible but won’t be going back. To top it off, the ignorance from the lady on the front desk. Lacks customer service. There are plenty other Chinese shops in bedlington. That serve the same average Chinese food, but cheaper and better service.

Lovely food, but the front of house staff (especially whoever answers the phone) needs some serious training with regards to customer services. Discussing this with friends and family suggests the feeling of hostility is a common occurrence.

First time I have been never again, ordered a starter of Ribs and a Main dish on Thursday evening with a side of curry sauce, food okay nothing to write home about, looked at my bank statement £26.30 Really!!!!! Lady taking orders not rude but taking calls at the same time, more fool me for not questioning the cost, wont be back.

Tried it out as in the area working, got the Singapore chowmein very poor literally noodles with some curry powder mixed in not made with chilli oil that I’m used to at my local and lacking in meat Prawns etc pretty flavourless disappointing

The wife and I ordered chicken curry and chips with rice it took about 1 hour plus the chips were hard and cold the chicken was really awful I had about 1/4 of mine and threw the rest away it was really disappointing. Never will go back again.

I ordered a delivery and was advised it would take an hour due to the workload, however it arrived in one and a half hours despite only residing 600 metres away with no apology!

Despite having never cause an issue for this establishment, and ordering food from here a few times a month, at times, they do not answer the phone to me. It may go from engaged to free and they will either let my call ring out, or end the call before answering. I have had no communication with this establishment re their rationale for not answering me - just ignoring the call. Unfortunate as I had enjoyed the food and found no issues with it previously.

Food was disgusting, looked and tasted stale and certainly not freshly cooked. Would never recommend and would certainly never use this take away service again!

Best Chinese I've had in 4yrs in Bedlington. Prawn toast was awesome, chips best around from any takeaway. 40 min delivery turned up in 20mins! Bonus. Expectations exceeded

I'm sorry I have to write this review. My daughter has had takeaways from here before and had been very happy with the meal. I ordered for both of us and collected the good. It was really poor. The prawn toast was over cooked but acceptable. The kings prawns with garlic and seaweed packed either! My daughter had a chicken honey meal. It looked identical to mine apart from the chicken or prawns. It was in a glutinous clear side. The egg fried rice wasn't good either. Almost all of it went in the bin. Sorry but I'm not coming back.

My usual Friday nite takeaway. Lovely food and delivered on time. Lovely helpful lady who takes the order and very friendly. Just love the food from here highly recommend

1st Time we've used Ocean Palace. Totally Fantastic Quality Food. We Ordered House Special Chow Main bbq Spare Ribs and Curry Sauce. We Travelled 7 Miles but Honestly Well Worth it.

As a resident of Bedlington, I like many others like a take away now and again! The Ocean Palace has an extensive menu that caters for everyone's needs. Large portions are the norm and the food is always of a high standard and importantly all the dishes are reasonably priced and good value for money. Preparation time is really good and although it can be busy the waiting time is kept to a minimum. Staff are friendly and polite. Can recommend this restaurant highly.

Decided to move in with my partner who uses this place as his local. Bit skeptical as I'm overly picky with chinese takeaways, however, I was not disappointed. Won tons on point, chowmein amazing. Ties off a perfect night after a few drinks! Call it in and it's ready in no time. Will be going again and again.

I have used Palace Garden for many years even when I moved from the station to the top end. I’ve tried all of the others but they don’t come anywhere near on quality and value for money!

Awesome portions, the meat dishes contain loads of meat, the prawn crackers are to die for and if you get a portion of chips you get a plate full, almost as much as a fish & chip shop, and they are delicious. The main meals are full of flavour and the service is extremely quick.

Best chines food in Bedlington would not go any where else they have a very wide range of food and also do english food , very fast delivery :)

We decided to visit Ocean Palace for a change. We hadn't been for a while. I ordered beef chicken in chilli n garlic. It had no colour and very little taste . Not the best I've had .

Always use this takeaway, extra generous portions! Great value for money, excellent menu to choose from and really delicious meals.

Don't ask for delivery when its busy! We waited 2 hours and it didn't arrive so rang to cancel and they claimed the delivery guy had been ringing the doorbell for ages? We don't have a doorbell!
