We are only here for a day but visited Oriental Aroma for its all you can eat buffet. You choose six starters from a list. Then have some pancakes and then a choice of main meal. Each course was delishous. We left very happy and full. We would highly recommend this restraunt.

This restaurant serves the BEST Chinese food 😋 we've ever had as a family. We live 25 miles away but still travel to the Oriental Aroma as it's so good. The food is fresh, hot, tasty, varied, and the vegan option menu is the best you'll find anywhere. The staff are all friendly and helpful. My only concern is that it's such a distance, but I suppose people who live in Wootton Bassett are just very fortunate!

We had the “all you can eat” deal We entered into what looked like a village hall with screens covering piles of mess. Got seated at a sticky table and we’re given our menus which had been written over as they had got the prices wrong, or they had changed We had starters which were fine but some of the ribs were a little cold in places and I certainly got the feeling the food had been re heated and not freshly cooked. We had the duck pancakes next which were nice. The mains were fine. Greasy special fried rice. But over all ok Problem was that the team were shouting around us, that it really felt like we were sat in a village hall, when you enter all the pictures have fallen down, don’t even get me started in the toilets and it wasn’t a great dining experience. Quite entertaining at times when staff realised they had got take out orders wrong and were running in all directions shouting with boxes. Also great time with a team member taking a call and asking someone not to be as confrontational as they were last week It was a little like eating my meal in a reality show set Not sure if I’d ever go back Sorry

After going here a year or so ago we were looking forward to going back for the “all you can eat” this time however the over use of MSG was ridiculous. It’s now 5 hours after eating and 6/7 pints of water and still feel like my mouth is drier than the desert.it totally over took the flavours of the food. By the starter we were finding it hard to continue eating. Maybe it’s to make you buy more drinks, maybe it’s to make you eat less but either way we won’t be going back again

Oh dear I last visited here about 8 years ago and after tonight I wont be repeating a visit . It was like being transported back in time to a shoddy working mens club of the eighties overall it was dingy and not inviting not dirty but very tired looking the 3 staff were friendly and reasonably attentive I had spent the day looking forward to a tasty chinese treat unfortunatly that didnt happen The food was o.k but nothing was really nice. If you want tasty chinese there are much better and cheaper places overall this place is not worth the money it charges my local takeaway is much nicer and the thai place in old town is much better and about same price

What can I say, being gluten free I have never been so spoiled for choice. This truly is a hidden gem of a place and I’ve been craving it every day since. They are very generous with the portion sizes so much so I went to town on the starters and duck and didn’t make it to mains. I have never felt so confident in a Chinese restaurant when it comes to catering for my wheat intolerance but this place gets 5 stars from me. Not only is the menu clear about the gluten free options the food tastes just as good as the normal options (confirmed by my partner who isn’t gluten free). The staff were polite and the service was fab! I cannot fault anything about this experience. I’ll be quick to return with more of the family and try the takeaway experience next.

Always had great meals from here in the past however this evening had a mega box that arrived with zero sauces for the satay or sweet & sour, called and asked to exchange for a fresh box with sauces… 20 min phone call & the food had gone cold only to be told they would deliver new sauces but with no box swap leaving us with cold dry food despite them admitting it was their fault. £35.90 for food drier than a Jacob’s cracker. Really poor service and will never use again or recommend.

Amazing food but very bad service. very very slow so got charged for the all you can eat full price and not the early bird deal and when queried was told it takes 2 hours to eat, even though this was NOT stated anywhere or told this on arrival. Manager had conveniently left the building when I asked to speak to them (although reading other reviews of the manager that seems a blessing in disguise) Got told by staff to 'come earlier' if wanting early bird deal even though there's conflicting opening times on their website! will be finding somewhere else for gluten free Chinese. SO disappointed!!

If you are looking for real amazing food cooked fresh, this place is a must, lots of choice. lovely staff & your not rushed, good choice of drinks & if you fancy a bit of karaoke, after 11pm they clear the tables away for entertainment. Highly recommended.

Visited here in December and would not recommend it. It's a restaurant in an old nightclub and looked as though it hadn't been refurbished. Food was functional at best, and not tasty and poorly prepared at worst. Not cheap either, even by restaurant standards. Staff were friendly enough and helpful, although didn't seem particularly professional. Maybe a decent place for a night out drinking and nibbling on a few oriental snacks, but not recommended as a restaurant.

Can’t fault the food, can’t fault the waiter but the manager has some serious issues! So rude to his staff. I felt awful for the waiter that he gave a telling off to - right in front of our large group. He was also very rude and abrupt to us. Also 50p for a take away box?! Seriously 🤦🏻‍♀️

We have been coming here for years now as it’s always been the best all you can eat around. However the last few visits we have found the food to be extremely salty, to the point where we cannot physically eat anymore. Such a shame as we have always had fab meals.

Waitress and manager were rude, arrogant and naive. They also have no concern for food waste what so ever. Disgusting! Image shows one of the dishes they binned and refused to let us take home.

We decided to try somewhere different to our normal choice of all you can eat Chinese. There were some warning signs on arrival as we were the only people in the whole restaurant. We went to order and were told although it’s all you can eat you can only order 6 items at a time. It says on the menu “we suggest 6 items” but this was not suggested it was enforced. And that’s 6 items per table. We paid for our drinks and left straight away and went to a different one 10 minutes away that was really busy and the food was amazing with no limits. We won’t be returning.

So we decided after two years of pandemic, to as a team celebrate a very valued team member leaving our valued NHS team. What a mistake! For the most part the service was spot on, however after happily taking hundreds of pounds off our hands for food, we could not then get drinks individually unless the transaction was more than £20. Joke! Spoke to owner to try and resolve and he was not interested. Sad really for repeat business. Food mediocre, reaheated pre prep crap. Used to be really great. Shame really. Won’t be going back.

We always get a take away each week, it comes in good time and is very nice, if I could I would get more than one a week

Average Chinese, this is our local and we tend to use them for takeaways as well sit down meals. Usually ok but not quite as good as normal on this occasion, the chef’s selection of starters was good but unfortunately the rest of the meal wasn’t up to scratch. Duck was ok apart from the duck being a bit dry this time. Chow mien was disappointing, not sure how the chef managed it but the taste of smoke was overwhelming. I don’t smoke but my mouth felt like an ash tray - I had to use mouth wash when I got home to get rid of the taste.

I have always loved food from here but my last 5 orders have been awful I wouldn't recommend it at all now I always order a variety and it has been getting very bad for quality can think of some underrated places that have better...

I have eaten at this resaurant almost a dozen times now. It is a firm favourite with my family. We have 2 vegans, a vegitarian, meat eaters and most recently a gluten free eater - so can often find one of the 'party' can struggle...

It was the second time we have been to the restaurant, and I think it will be the last. We had the starters some of which were nice, others unrecognisable. The noodles were brought out late and seemed to have lots of crunchy bits in....

Wasn't expecting a huge amount from the quite unassuming exterior, and as a vegetarian, Chinese food can be a limited menu in many local places. However, upon arrival the staff were very friendly, I was offered a fully vegan menu (and vegetarian options if I wanted those), and every menu item was delicious. Would definitely return and recommend - don't write many reviews but this deserved one!

What a strange evening... I have eaten here a few times now, as various friends have wanted to try it and each time I think maybe it will get better - unfortunately it seems the 'all you can eat concept' needs a massive rethink. Staff are reluctant to provide any menus and always start each time with a 'platter' which then leads to a second course of duck or mock duck for veggies, and then a main. Each time the staff have insisted on having this and on reflection it seems the platter are in fact 'fried cheap food' which probably costs next to nothing. During a recent large group meal, we were asked if any vegetarians were dining and a few of us mentioned we were pescatarian, we were then asked to move to a different end of the table so we could share the 'veggie platter' which we had not even ordered. Once again forced to what we could eat. We asked if we could have some prawns, to which we were met with 'but you are vegetarian' Can I just stress that I have never been asked to declare any dietary needs to any restaurant prior to ordering, or in fact asked to move because of this. We asked to order drinks where we were advised we would have to go to the bar and place an order due to it being a 'cash bar' yet we were surprised to see the table behind ordering drinks from their table. Seems odd we were told one thing, yet the table behind another. Fair enough if you want a pay at the bar policy but this needs to be enforced across the restaurant. it is slightly concerning that the bars minimum card spend is £20 - slightly excessive and almost forcing you to make a cash purchase (very concerning) Once we had finished our non-prawn platter we were asked to keep our cutlery as no more would be provided for the next course, also I feel very patronising based on the fact it was almost £20 a head to eat and we had already had our table split by having a dietary requirement. We asked to see the menu, where the waitress advised she would just bring us a selection of veggie mains - Why can we not see a menu? Only a month before, I asked for some plum sauce to accompany my meal to be advised I was only allowed sweet chili. As a restaurant you should be able to provide paying customers with an alternative array of things especially when it is available.I could write for days about the strange experiences I have had here, I will not be returning and I encourage people to think carefully before they eat here. Disappointing, clearly profit making only mindset and an all you can eat concept which is not all you can eat, it is all what the staff tell you to eat... such a shame.

My family were passing through the area after a trip away in Wales and were looking for a good meal to end on, and we definitely got that at Oriental Aroma. The service was great and very friendly. We had the all you can eat menu which involved 6 starters, soup followed by duck or pork course and then a main course, so we got a bit of everything we love, it was actually enough for us even though we could have ordered more. We enjoyed all the food as did my two daughters. It also looked like a fun place for a party and I think they hold kareoke nights. I should add that on the way home afterwards I realised I'd left my camera behind! After speaking with the owner who was so friendly and lovely to deal with, he took the time to post it back to me. We will definitely visit again next time we are in the area.

Back again to this restaurant, we like it here, food is very good and staff are very polite and helpful, service is great, food is excellent and we enjoy eating here.

I was away with work in a place I didn’t know so found this and thought would give it a try as I love chinese. Walked in and asked for a table for one and got turned away as they don’t cater for solo parties. Found this very annoying and upsetting

Delicious food and excellent service. Staff and host cannot do enough for you. Have always been made to feel most welcome. Plus they have an excellent selection of really tasty vegan dishes. Amazing! Highly recommended!!

I can’t recommend Orietal Aroma enough, best food I’ve eaten in years, so much choice, love the vegan options, tastes delicious, fantastic service and James is an excellent host and all round lovely person!

My family and I love this restaurant!

Say no more £58 for all food and 2 pints. Told we could be squeezed in if we rushed. No one else was in. That'll teach us for not checking the t&c;'s before we order. Wouldn't even said we had £20 worth of food let alone £50. Had minimum starters, duck and two mouthfuls of mains.

Me and my family came on a Friday night to celebrate my sons birthday. Our first impression of the venue was confusion, the odd layout and surroundings made it feel more set up as a disco than a restaurant. Decor cheap and tacky, could do with a severe make over.

we dined here and had the all you could eat deal £17.50 the food was very good value you could have so much it was unbelievable the staff were very helpful and the food good quality a pint was £4, I would certainly go back we were happy

We visited this restaurant tonight for a totally Vegan meal we were a little wary as to what we might have to eat but it was fantastic everything was just so nice excellent quality can’t rate it enough if we could give it a huge GOLD star we would all the staff were very friendly.We can hardly wait to visit again.Thank you very much.

Establishment seems to have a few upset nightclub goers who were probably kicked out from the way they write. I've never been to the nightclub, but for all the years I've been when it's a restaurant I've never had any problems.

Where to begin, probably start with the bald racist owner!! Called me a filthy ****** after I criticised his food and said I would give him a bad review, then got kicked out for causing a scene! I think it’s time the police were called in to deal with this racist little bigot

I've been here many times, too many. As a restaurant you'll find pedestrian dishes that are small, bland, salty, and generously priced.To wash it down you have the least inspired selection of drinks on offer in the whole town.

Very bland food and not a very inspiring menu. The decor is cheap and is no doubt affected by the venue doubling as a 'night club'. Staff like to rush you when eating and will not hesisitate to brush aside diners to begin preparation for Royal Wootton Bassett's no.1 (only) night club. The website design looks like it has been designed with a Windows 95 and the menus look like something from an unimpressive rundown cafe (a simple call to a graphic/web designer would solve very quickly). The food is served in small bowls that give a tapas bar a run for it's money. It may say 'all you can eat' but don't ask for seconds you may make them upset.

My husband took me here for my birthday. The food is outstanding! I am Vegan, he isn't. We both agreed this is the best Chinese food we have every tasted. There are so many options for Vegans. Very efficient and attentive staff.

A return visit after a year or so. We were very impressed with the food and table service. We shall return soon

Very disappointed in what was supposed to be a Christmas party. The evening was advertised as an 'all you can eat buffett' however this must have a different meaning in Chinese. Whilst the food was ok the service was very slow. The management clearly had very little trust in the clientele and the staff as money had to be in the till before any drinks were poured. As soon as the food 'service' had finished most of the tables were pushed to one side and an influx of rowdy teens appeared. In addition the doormen were very aggressive and created an uneasy atmosphere for all those in the venue.

Im a vegan and they have a great menu, I went with a few friend who eat meat. We thought it was a buffet but you choose a certain amount of things from the menu and it gets bought to your table. I went on a Friday which is disco and karaoke we left when this started. It was not very busy which surprised me. Over all good was amazing staff a little hit and miss we had to ask how things worked ie ordering food, I think when you are seated at your table it would be nice to be greated with a smile and to be asked if we had been before then had it explained to us on how it works ie ordering etc. The food was very nice, the staff need a few tweaks. The takeaway menu is great just wish they delivered, I will go back

The place gets packed with party crowds, so creates a buzzing evening. The decor is on the cheap and cheerful side but ok. The food is pretty quickly served and all staff extremely pleasant. The food is very average as Chinese meals go but quite edible.Great for a big party group.

Due to enquiries the Oriental Aroma undertook the brave decision to have a 'Vegan Night'. A set menu. 4 courses, with many, many dishes brought out!

My first visit and I was a bit worried when I walked in as it was quite dark and very much like a pub venue with wooden furniture.

I have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed our experiences. Today was different as we left before eating. My 8 yr Son has specific needs and wasn't able to select anything from the menus to suit. The restaurant didn't offer a child's menu and the reduced buffet price didn't offer good value for money for him. I feel we might only visit as a couple if there is a next time. Staff said age 9 is the cut off year for child's price buffet!! Seems a bit harsh.

Really enjoyed the food - the chef selection starter and the duck filled me up!Was very busy even though it was fairly early, which is a good sign. Drinks prices on a par with other restaurants. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - we will definitely return.

You seriously can eat as much as you like !! It's not as you would expect an open buffet. But you choose off the menu and keep reordering... The food is excellent. So where do they make there money you ask? On the drinks £7 glass of wine!! Drinks bill £40 for 2 drivers and 2 drinkers ! Great evening had by us all having said that

Unfortunately we have only ever eaten in here twice and been drinking in the club twice since it has been open, due to babysitters. So to cheer ourselves up we have a take away from here every other Friday night and I really can't complain. It all tastes freshly prepared and unlike some Chinese restaurants and takeaways it has flavour and a non greasy texture. I order through at home and then set off to collect and 9/10 it is ready to collect even when I can see it's a busy evening. We will still keep using the takeaway service and one day again we will dine in the restaurant. I can highly recommend the stir fried chilli bean sprouts and my favourite the smoked shredded chicken. Enjoy

Have visited a few times for the restaurant and always been happy so when our usual takeaway was closed we decided to get a takeaway from here. When my husband arrived home with the food we thought there had been a mistake, the king prawn dish had a total of 6 prawns and the whole dish filled much less then half of the standard sized container (this cost over £7) the chicken dish was filled around half way, this did have some sauce and plenty of chicken but next to no veg. I phoned because tbh I thought they had actually might have given us someones doggy bag by mistake. I I was asked to repeat myself over and over then asked to phone back, after several more repeats, the girl passed me to the manager who after listening, told me I was wrong and that there were 12 prawns in the dish, he insinuated that I was lying and then put the phone down. Its a shame as the food is usually nice but I would never use this place as a takeaway again as I am shocked at the appalling customer service and I dont like being ripped off

A group of us came here for a Saturday night out as one of our party loves it and had told us all about the great food, club and karaoke. The food was great, it was brought over quickly and was tasty and hot. The staff were happy to bring over more of what we had ordered. Note this is not a buffet style all you can eat restaurant, you choose your starters and main and you can have more of that specific dish. As a group we had a starter platter so we could all try the different bits but had our own main courses. Gradually as the evening went on, the music slowly got turned up, the tables cleared away, the glitter ball went on and the fog machine started! It was a little surreal to be there finishing our Chinese while the restaurant slowly turned into a nightclub (note we were the last ones still there eating)! The only reason I have given it 4/5 and not full marks is due to the minimum payment for using a card is £10 before 11pm and then £20 after, I would advise anyone there for the whole night to take cash but there are cashpoints in the high street. I didn't stay late so can't comment on the club or karaoke but the friends who stayed on said it was great and they danced the night away! I overheard someone calling the place 'Mental Oriental' and watching the transformation take place, I can see why! A great place to go for food and to party the night away!

We stopped here for dinner after doing some late night Christmas shopping. We were seated immediately without a reservation and directed to the food stations. Food was lovely and fresh. Will return

Staff hover at your table all night long. No sooner have you put your fork down they come over and whisk the plates away before you have a chance to swallow your mouth full. Very rushed - even when they are not busy it would seem they can't wait to get you out of there. My daughter had not even finished sorting the money out but the waitress took the payment and never brought the change back! I would recommend visiting if you short on time as that won't be a problem. Shame as the food is very nice.

We have eaten here on many occasions and have never had a bad meal. Food is always promptly served, hot, of generous portions and full of flavour. We always start with the 'Chef's Selection' and have Crispy Duck for the next course, but the debate wages back and forth across the table when the main course decision is made. Drinks are not overpriced by Restaurant standards. A local restaurant that we will always willingly return to.

Very disappointed! We had just received our main course when I noticed a very long black hair all the way through my chicken dish. I immediately called over a member of staff who was very apologetic. They replaced the dish but to be honest we all struggled to continue eating. When presented with the bill I asked if they were going to give a discount for the upset. They said they had to call the manager, then after no answer they had to go and find him, after about 20minutes they returned to say "as they had replaced the dish and a member of our party had already received a military discount, they would do no more" Again the staff were very apologetic and said they were sure the hair had come from the chef.The manager is a coward and sent his staff to do the dirty work.

Always go here when I am in the area .. the food is excellent .. served hot and plenty of it .. I have always enjoyed it and the bonus is that it is excellent value for money .. happy days

All food made to order, so the quality is superb. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service was polite and friendly. The karaoke was the cherry on the cake for me. I shall definitely be returning to the Oriental Aroma in the near future.

We visit this restaurant on a regular basis either with friends or on our own, we love the food and the friendly atmosphere. We were having dinner with friends and had a lovely evening. Food was great as usual and so was the service. Looking forward to next visit.

The starter sharing platter is great , followed by soup, duck or pork pancakes and then a main course with rice - tremendous value at only £13.80

Its gone down hill a bit since I last went its less flexible on the dish front, I was forced to order 6 starters too (I am guessing they are the cheapest to plate). The duck and the main dishes were nice, granted I was restricted to 2 main dishes before I could order anymore. However at £13.45 if you leave before 7.45 it does constitute good value for money, so I am going to give a slightly generous rating of 4 stars.

Very spacious restaurant with a great variety of food for a reasonable price. This is an all you can eat buffet for a set price and I guarantee you will not finish it!

We use this restaurant at least several times in a year. The air conditioning, although welcome, does keep a breeze going all evening, and despite sitting in different areas, I always feel cold. That said, the food is always lovely. The portions on the all you can eat have reduced over time, but as you can ask for more, that's not a problem. Just wish the salad with the duck was larger, as it's barely enough for one person. Staff always lovely, food comes out quickly. Will definitely use again.

I think that 20 pounds is too much for a all you can eat!!! I don't think I'd go again personally, overpriced is an understatement.

Decided to take our daughter to the all you can eat buffet, the food as always was lovely and the chap who served us was top notch!However the Chinese lady who helped him was quite possibly the most miserable waitress/hostess I have ever come across. She didn't smile, the plates were pretty much banged on the table when placed and we felt that she wanted us to hurry up and get out as it was an effort for her. I am pretty sure she is related to the owner so doubtful that this review will change anything so takeaway in future and meals out in Swindon instead.It is a shame as the evening was supposed to be an enjoyable one and ended up feeling like we should hurry up, eat and get out.

Went there a few days ago. Overall the food was ok. It could be a lot better quite easily. There is a lot better chinese restaurants in the Swindon area. I would say that this is a very average restaurant. We will not go here on a regular basis. But will go here to see if it improves from time (annually) to time.

My colleague and I came across this great place whilst in the area on business.we chose the all you can eat option for about £13 a head.We had a choice of starters, 6 options, all gorgeous, weell cooked and presented. Soup came next , then the crispy duck pancakes, delicious.After a little break we were ready for our mains, we shared 2 dishes , chicken curry and crispy shredded beef. The beef was especially good.Dan the waiter was very friendly and happy to advise on our choices.More than good value for money, would recommend to anyone who enjoys a chinese meal.

Whether you are new to Chinese food or have your old favourites... this restaurant has an incredible buffet menu as well as Takeout and Eat in standards. The service is Superb with friendly, dedicated staff who are consistently looking after their tables... your glass won't remain empty for long! Food is plentiful and tasty!

We went for a la carte, in order not too waste too much food (that way, whatever you didn't finish, you can take home with you). We had beef with black bean, prawns with ginger and Buddha vegetable (mix stir fry veg with tofu), as well as crispy lamb to start - all of it was genuinely super yummy: crispy veg, juicy big prawns and beef was really soft and yummy too. We have never had crispy lamb before, and it was great. Definitely will be back and definitely will order the same again. Big plus that that nothing was overly sweet or sticky. We always use this restaurant for our takeaways as they deliver to our area.The menu is vast with both Chinese and Thai dishes.Service is speedy, delivery usually within 45 mins from order.

a cockroach was crawling in the rice served. the waitress was sorry, and said i didn't have tp pay for half of the rice dish as the cockroach didn't crawl over all of the rice dish, only half of it.

James & his friendly staff offer excellent food and venue. Wonderful Xmas night out with our local crib team. Everybody enjoyed themselves

Excellent food and quality. All you can eat buffet is a must. Not help yourself. Order from the menu for freshly made just for you dishes. Just carry on ordering until you've had enough.

We really enjoy the Oriental Aroma. Unfortunately it is no longer our local Chinese Restaurant so our visits are not as frequent as we would like. The food is excellent, the service friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is great. Really miss our regular visits, only managed twice in the last 6 months. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Visited with friends, went for the eat as much as you like option. Started with a selection platter which was excellent, duck as a 2nd course and a variety of main courses resulted in 4 very full very happy people leaving.

Thought I would reveiw this resturant again after my visit last night and also having read the latest scathing reveiws.We were a party of 12 and we had 3 to 4 waiting on us ,which meant there was no delays in the service,staff were polite and efficient with nothing too much trouble.The food was freshly cooked and deliscious.Yes drinks are a little expensive but they are in all resturants arnt they?We all had a good time and everyone enjoyed the food,will definately be going again.

Terrible, my sphincter will never be the same again. If you want to have your bank account raped within an inch of its life and eat food so bad they have to cover it in salt, then this place is for you!

I've been going to Oriental Aroma for years. I always enjoy myself as the restaurant is attractively laid out, food has been nice and staff helpful. I have to say it seems a bit suspicious how in the last two days there are suddenly similarly nasty views with no constructive criticism. It upset me because the restaurant I know is nothing like that. Does somebody/group of people or organisation have it in the the manager? How awful to do that to a business.They aren't describing the restaurant or people that I have known for years. It's my favourite Chinese restaurant in Wiltshire. While everybody has individual taste, so there are bound to be some bad reviews, the last few seem to have been written in a similar and nasty way. The restaurant is a quality and fun addition to the community.

The food was diabolical the poor waitress was rushed off her feet having to keep going to Iceland shop for egg fried rice and noodles. There microwave is pinging in the background nonstop very annoying
