Oriental Aroma in South Somerset

Absolutely the best Chinese food! We come from 30 miles away when we have time, because we think it is so good. The staff are welcoming, the restaurant itself a bit weird in decor , but comfortable and well worth a visit. Only drawback is the distance! 😄

Had a vegan curry and it was lovely. So impressed with their gluten free and vegan menu.

Not from the area, so I wasn't sure what to expect. A quirky set up upon entry. Really impressed with the food and service, an all you can eat buffet ordered from, and brought to the table. Food was pipping hot and freshly cooked, which is better than many help yourself buffet. I would definitely ho back.

We really enjoy Oriental Aroma, we've been going for a few years now. Their vegan menu is brilliant, so many options and really tasty food.

Food was OK, but not brilliant. 4 of us took the all you could eat package at 17.95 which ended at 19.30. We waited for some time between 2nd course and mains. However when the bill arrived at 19.40 it was at the higher rate of 24.95 which we queried, and the waitress queried with the boss to be told we were too late to take the early bird offer. We all felt it was a sharp practice and won't be returning

All you can eat - absolutely fabulous food! All cooked fresh to order and the flavours were perfect. I am very fussy with food but I cannot fault any of it. Staff very attentive and the whole place is very welcoming. Would highly recommend.

Unfortunately when an establishment allows policy to override common sense and deems it more valuable to follow policy than help out a new customer, then sadly this mum of four has to point out that it is my policy to notify the public of your policy to uphold the policy that cost me £12 this mealtime. But we must keep to policy so now we have both followed said policy to the letter. Well don’t we all feel better now.

This place is incredible. I've not been able to have Chinese takeaway for years because of my dietary restrictions but this place has a whole huge menu for both gluten free and vegan. I'm totally spoiled for choice here. I tried 6 different dishes and it was all absolutely amazing and as good or better than any takeaway I've had elsewhere before. On top of that the service was great and the prices are also very reasonable. I ordered online in advance and when I arrived the food was ready to go straight away. I just wish I lived closer so I could go more often.

This is an excellent venue for a fun night out. The staff are amazing. Bring your friends, family, work colleagues here. Enjoy the delicious food and then definitely do some karaoke afterwards.

Superb food but shockingly expensive!

If you haven't been yet, what's stopping you. The food is amazing, staff are great and the price is great for the food you get. Just came back from another visit, and was again a wonderful meal.

Really generous portions. Huge number of Gluten free options. The sweet and sour prawns balls were delicious .

Couldn't find the place. Only door which seemed correct was locked when they were supposed to be open

Absolutely fantastic meal, we went with friends who'd never been before and they were very impressed! Would definitely recommend!

Always had great meals from here in the past however this evening had a mega box that arrived with zero sauces for the satay or sweet & sour, called and asked to exchange for a fresh box with sauces… 20 min phone call & the food had gone cold only to be told they would deliver new sauces but with no box swap leaving us with cold dry food despite them admitting it was their fault. £35.90 for food drier than a Jacob’s cracker. Really poor service and will never use again or recommend.

Food was okay, price not bad, but like eating in a 1980s club. The table was a bit grubby. No restaurant atmosphere at all. Very odd all-you-can-eat concept with a choice of 6 starter platter between 4 of us, another pre-main before the main, which, to be fair, was decent. Odd thing was all-you-can-eat was 17.95 per head if you could finish it before 19.30 so we had to rush them to get food out, otherwise it would've been another £9 per head. Can't say I'd be too keen on returning? I've had better!

Great food as usual great service a good night out and pleasant surroundings

Disappointing. I wanted to really enjoy this place, but it fell short on many points. Here are my observations: 1. The food was okay, but it didn't impress. 2. Decor was outdated, and the place turned into a "nightclub" after hours. It didn't really feel like a restaurant. 3. When booking for a Friday evening, they demanded a non refundable deposit per head, like they're some sort of exclusive establishment, ridiculous, the place was half empty! 4. If you choose 'all you can eat', you better be with someone who wants the same food because you're not allowed to order separately on the starter or second course! 5. They only let you order one main at a time on the 'all you can eat', rather than letting you order multiple dishes and offering smaller portions. Ridiculous rule! 6. Service was fine, and the staff were polite enough. 7. Seems to be 'make it up as you go along' pricing as they just marker penned a new price over the face of the menu. They seem to care more about what works for them, rather than giving their customers a good experience, massive shame, really. In summary, I would not return or recommend this place.

Always amazing food, and service. The team are helpful and you pay for what you get. A little under £40 for all this, with 2 portions removed already. thank you for always providing phenomenal vegan versions too! Never once have we been disappointed.

Always excellent food and excellent service. Really delicious gluten free food too. I'm coeliac and my partner is a muggle and he can't tell the difference and I've never felt ill. Outstanding.

Places online order, payment declined even though sufficient funds were in the bank, transaction showing as approved. Fobbed off for 3 hours, told no management in to resolve, was even asked ‘why do you even want the money back?’ Shocking customer service, rude unhelpful staff, only ‘superior’ staff member was a young bar girl.

We decided to try somewhere different to our normal choice of all you can eat Chinese. There were some warning signs on arrival as we were the only people in the whole restaurant. We went to order and were told although it’s all you can eat you can only order 6 items at a time. It says on the menu “we suggest 6 items” but this was not suggested it was enforced. And that’s 6 items per table. We paid for our drinks and left straight away and went to a different one 10 minutes away that was really busy and the food was amazing with no limits. We won’t be returning.

Outrageous the amount of batter used throughout our meal - I never appreciated how much could be deep fried if you really try. My partner is Scottish, so she should know. Very large portions of mediocre battered fare. Overpriced and poor quality drinks. The only saving grace was the staff were friendly. Attempted to hold out for karaoke, but the sad disco and no actual sign of karaoke was too much - ordered a taxi after one tragic shot. In fact, the v cars taxi was the highlight… a sorry Saturday night out.

Owner (male) really friendly and helpful. Was delish. Already booked to go again..... Sadly I revisited on Sunday and wasn't so good, definitely a different chef from the Sunday before. Ruined one of my favourites dish with far too much salt 😒

Spent 3 days calling attempting to make a reservation only for them to not even pick up once. Called both inside and outside of opening hours. Absolutely appalling behaviour for an establishment which insists you need to book ahead and offers no option to book online.

Food was fine and portion size generous. Have used the take away before.

Fantastic meal tonight, first time trying and was not disappointed! The vegan platter was outstanding and came well packaged. They also delivered in good time considering our distance. We will be back, highly recommended!

Had the Vegan Supreme Box a couple of weeks ago and it really was amazing! Our favourites in the box were the Candy Chili Jackfruit, Mock Chicken Balls, Mini Spring Rolls and the Sesame Toasts. They also gave us a vegan samosa free sample to try too which was also amazing so thank you for that. We will definitely be ordering again soon as there are not many Asian restaurants with plenty of vegan options around this area and food arrived quickly and tasted great.

Really friendly staff, very helpful with choosing. Really Nice and clean inside. Entrance isnt much to go on, my friend and I just looked at eachother when we arrived. But inside is lovely. Really nice and tasty food.

Could not fault this takeaway at all. Exceptionally quick delivery, didn't even have time to get a beer out! Quality of food is incredible, especially for a takeaway. And to add the outstanding customer service on the phone and from delivery, could not be faulted, our new favourite Chinese!

Really funny with eating chinese lately and only ever order from one place. So thought I'd try oriental aroma tonight And wanted to try the munch box and MY god so delicious treated my friend and mum to Chinese tonight and even they said was really nice 😂💁‍♀️ flavours were lush, food was hot and on time and lovely customer service aswell as delivery service. Really nice will defo order again 😊 thank you!

Meal delivered due to the 'virus'. Excellent in every respect. Food quality first class as always. Generous amounts. Delivered hot, on time and with the driver face masked, gloved and exercising other necessary precautions... leaving boxed food at the door then standing back until door was answered. I would strongly recommend that people continue to support this local business throughout this crisis and beyond.

If you want a party, this is the place. Tasty food and lovely staff too. Try and go on a karaoke night for extra fun! In my opinion that really makes the difference and stops it being just another restaurant.

Decent food and service as always. We wanted to use the karaoke but there were other tables having dinner so couldn't. Maybe next time!!

I am absolutely disgusted with how we were treated tonight! To be told 'children had to be gone by 745' which actually wasn't a thing as a table of 16 walked in half with children!! We rushed our starter just so we could order mains before we had to leave. Yet when we asked the waitress she said 'you can stay but not too late' yet the other table full of children would have been there much longer than us! Then when we got our main menu with bowls , 15 minutes later, the waitress cleared them away! We hadn't even ordered mains let alone ate them!! When we asked to leave and just pay for what we had, we got charged £35 for drinks and starters. We also got told that 'we cant turn away a table of 16 paying customers' regardless of this we were a table of 3 PAYING customers. I work in a restaurant and this is completely unacceptable. My daughter is the most well bahaved child you will meet. But to be told we can't stay too late, when you clearly never said that to the rest of the tables with children, who were very loud is absolutely appalling. You should have SET RULES. Not one rule for one and one for another. This is not acceptable at all. We eat out 5 out of 7 night a week, and we go to different restaurants each time. This had by far been the worse!

The food was nice and mt husband and daughter enjoyed it, but I felt it was a little bit overpriced. It's not the conventional buffet all you can eat. So, the food was quite fresh. A little bit disappointed that they didn't do military discount considering the town supports the military.

The staffs are the rudest of any I’ve ever come across. Absolutely unfriendly and they make you feel unwelcome. The food is alright, though not the best. I wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy. TERRIBLE PLACE, TERRIBLE PEOPLE.

We had the all you can eat deal at £17.50, the food was greasy however not bad but not great either hence the 3*. For a £41 for two people you can't really complain since you get what you pay for. Overall I would say it was average, I wouldn't hurry back but would not be adverse to going again.
