Orchid Chinese Restaurant in Perth & Kinross

Ordered salt and pepper chicken as other takeaways closed. Got a thin spreading of salt and pepper chicken over half a tub of iceberg lettuce. Whilst tasted quite good, smallest portion size ever had from a Chinese, will order elsewhere where wife normally gets 2 meals out of one portion. Disappointed.

Had a carry out meal. Ordered 4 meals (2 were correct), but an order for chicken satay, was a plain chicken chinese curry. Also ordered was a Singapore Beef curry and we got another plain chinese chicken curry Seems to be a common theme from other reviews that meals are given with the wrong sauce. Also hard over cooked chips were provided. If there are any chinese people involved in the preperation of this food I would be surprised as the overall quality of the food is terrible. The person who took the phone order read the order back, so not sure how they could get it so wrong. Anyway we were starving and it was a miserable night so we ate the meals rather than having to wait again for the order to be corrected. Never again.

We ordered a set meal for two but it fed three of us. Fantastic food and was ready very quickly. Good value for money and we got to choose our starters and main courses. I wish it was our local.

Was ok Was looking for a takeaway for myself and family. We ordered a lot of food. Parts of things were good. Everything was overly saucy and lacked some flavour

I’ve eaten a lot of crispy shredded and this was the worst one I’ve had yet. Won’t be going there again

We were recommended this restaurant from the hotel we were staying at, and are so pleased we took their advise. The restaurant itself is very traditional, the menu extensive, however the important bit, the food, was truly amazing! The duck was to die for, and their spicy noodles sensational! Such a shame we live three hundred miles away!

First of all I think things must have moved on hugely since 2018 and before. I’ve eaten many Chinese takeaways in many towns over the years and can compare this one to a very highly rated place in a northern city last week. This place is outstanding in every way. The food was delivered to the cottages at the Crieff Hydro and was piping hot. Everything had been cooked from fresh and I can honestly say was faultless and delicious. This place must be under new management based on comparison to previous reviews. This is without question the best Chinese takeaway I’ve had for a long time . Highly recommended ... enjoy !

Staying the Hydro we decided to order a take away. They do not deliver but plenty of parking nearby. Ordered in advance. The food was ready on time. Good average standard Chinese food. Nothing spectacular and normal pricing. However plenty of it and no complaints. The lady serving was exceptionally polite and helpful.

Been going to The Orchid for years, its my go to takeaway. Recently noticed a drop in quality and Ive come to learn the store owner had been ill therefore unable to manage the restaurant. Come to think of it, I would usually see her in store everyday but I had not seen her in some time. Alas, she is back! And the quality of food is better than ever! I will be ordering from here frequently as Ive noticed a lack in customers and I would love to support my favourite chinese takeaway.

Our usual Chinese take away was shut. I really hesitated about using the Orchid as we felt it had gone down hill the last time we used it (a couple of years ago). Well a good start was the lady taking our order, she was very friendly and efficient. We ordered 5 dishes and I am pleased to report every one of them was delicious. We will definitely be back and will be using the Orchid instead of our usual. Keep up the good work.

Used to far prefer this to the other Chinese in Crieff, front of house says it hasn't changed hands , still the same chef , well I beg to differ , the food is very very poor indeed , the chicken curry , it was white chicken with curry sauce poured over the top , the 'white' chicken was very visible , and not anywhere near as tasty as it used to be in fact I have stopped going, sad times !

the orchid chinese take away was our most favourite restaurant in crieff, dont know what has happened but it has gone down hill so much. persiviered for a few months but something has gone wrong. The owner said it is only front of staff that has changed but i dont think so. meals taste totally different for the worst , sorry to say. unhappy derek

Avoid, unless you like cheap watery chicken. Chips and curry sauce nice though. They do not deliver.

Woman who took order was so impolite - should have taken this as a sign of what was to come. Ordered several dishes and all were tasteless and quite frankly disgusting. My husband is a top class chef and thankfully before myself or my son could taste the special fried rice he stopped us. The prawns stank, literally. He immediately called to complain and the woman told him that it was because they were frozen! Never should even frozen prawns stink! She then had the cheek to hang up. Health and safety and food poisoning risk - buyer beware!

Whatever the food might be like, the lady who serves you is impatient, irritable and sometimes downright rude. The food is average i.e. it fills a space but you won't be left thinking 'I can't wait to try something else'. If the service was improved massively I might pop back but, as it is, no thanks.

As a last night treat on our stay in crieff we had a takeaway. It was pot luck we tried the orchid. Tasty salt and pepper ribs and then Singapore fried rice with curry sauce was very tasty. No nasty after taste either as sometimes found with Chinese food with too much msg. Will revisit when we come back to crieff.

Lots of food ordered for a large group of people but no delay in getting it. Everything tasted great

La comida era muy buena y caliente, poco más de lo que normalmente pagar, pero ya que estábamos de vacaciones, no estoy seguro de si eso es simplemente normal. Sin comida para llevar de nuevo a este lugar cuando nos visite de nuevo.

En nuestra primera noche decidimos tener un llevar. Un menú fijo para 3 era delicioso y alimentado por 6 de nosotros con masas a la izquierda.

Fast and great, the Orchid is a Crieff favourite, continually good food, consistent and we are met with the same, curt, yet polite and efficient service. Ask for your favourite, if it is not on the menu

When it came the chicken curry was like bits of plastic and beef was like kebab meat the curry is orange I'm glad I was so hungry or the lot have been put in bin filled the hole but will not be back

I had a wonderful Chinese meal in this pleasant restaurant, staff were very friendly and the service was faultless. I will be returning in the future.

We ordered a take away from here while on holiday and ended up throwing it in the bin, it really was that horrible, chicken was like rubber yuck

the food was great and the welcoming was nice and warm we had the chicken satay and a chicken curry and salt and pepper chips we werent dissapointed at all if your in the area try this one out

This has to certainly be the worst restaurant ive ever eaten in. The food was cold and tasteless and the staff did not seem interested.

This must be the worst chinese food I have ever tasted, the chicken is formed and rubbery. The chicken fried rice is so bland, avoid at all costs, must be the worst place to eat in Crieff. If you want a takeaway have an indian from the GHURKAS.

We go to Crieff often as we have a touring caravan which we use all year, as we live in Falkirk we sometimes only go away for a long weekend and obviously don't want to spend all our time driving Crieff is handy for us as it only takes three quarter of an hour to get there and the site is open all year!. Usually on the Friday night once we are all set upwe go up to the Meadow for a drink then head to the Orchid for our chinese and then head back down to the caravan. We went in and were very surprised to find the shop empty (normally it's very busy and the phone is always ringing!!) we studied the menu then placed our order and sat down to wait! We hardly had our bottoms in the seat when our order was placed in front of us, (very unusual as it's usually always made fresh and we always have to wait) However we paid and said thankyou and headed down to our caravan! Well it was awful our spare ribs had almost no meat the sauce was tasteless not nice!! Then to the mains my chicken oyster sauce with soft noodles was terrible all i could taste was salt the noodles were all congealed disgusting!! Hubby had a chicken curry and rice which he said was "not too bad" he normally raves on and on about how good it is!! Well not this time!! Sorry Orchid normally we would never pass your door but we have been back to Crieff a good few times since but always pass your door and by your lack of custom seems lots of people are doing likewise.

I love this Chinese food brilliant theirs no room for improvement canny fault it. You get good portion. Neen eating out of here for year thumbs up keep up the good service well done.

Just arrived in beautiful Crieff at a holiday let cottage. We wanted a quick bite so tried this and having preordered regretted it immediately on walking into the place. Staff were surly and they only accept cash, which in itself is never a good thing! We ordered crispy duck, but got fatty duck already off the bone. Was just about edible but we would caution others to look for alternatives.

Greasy, cold, nothing like the Chinese food I would call Chinese. I have no idea where this mess was created. Avoid.

We use this Chinese 2/3 times a month. Certainly would not go anywhere else in Crieff or surrounding area. Have always had a delicious meal, great size portions and you can adapt any course to suit yourself. Staff very helpful
