Fabulous food that is well prepared and tastes delicious. Excellent vegetarian options too. Staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly.

The food is delicious, the staff is lovely and the wine is really good ! We had a great time. We strongly recommend 🙌

Great place and worth a visit whilst in Glasgow.

It was a family gathering and food was amazing. We ordered 5 types of dim sums and separate main dishes. All of them are really good. Price was bit high but worth every penny.

I don't quite understand why this restaurant is so highly rated. I was really disappointed with my experience. The gyoza were stodgey and largely tasteless. The vegan prawn crackers were the worst I've ever tried anywhere. As for the main, I had the Kung Pao. The peppers were completely uncooked and the sauce was a little too sweet to be enjoyable. This wasn't better than any corner Chinese takeaway you'd go to and yet 3 times the price. like The worst aspect was the fried rice, really not tasty. For £30 per person, I expect a much higher quality of food. At one point a large sustained blast of cigarette smoke started blowing through from the kitchen where one of the staff was clearly smoking near a doorway. This, as you can imagine, added to an already unenjoyable experience. This is the second time I've been here and my group weren't impressed the last time. I won't be giving it a third chance.

Incredible food, so many choices and great quality. We went for the the duck rolls, satay dim sum, crab dim sum, Kung Po, Chilli Beef & Prawn toast

Top quality food and service. We ordered a selection of Dim Sum, all of which were excellent , though personal favourites were the Sticky Plum Ribs, Crispy Duck Roll and the Har Gau. All four mains in our group were also well presented, with great flavour. The desserts were also very good. The level of service was excellent throughout, from a staff team that know what they are doing. Well worth visiting. May have been our first time, though will not be our last.

DO NOT TIP! This place was fantastic! The food was great and the service was even better. However, I recently found out that the girls don’t get to keep their tips, and that goes for cash tips too. It’s a real shame.

Mi amigo y yo nos aventuramos a Opio anoche para lo que honestamente puedo decir que es una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Los dos trabajamos en hostelería en la alta cocina, soy chef y mi amigo trabaja frente a casa. La habilidad de los chefs para equilibrar los sabores fue impresionante. Son dignos de 2 rosetas Si tienes la oportunidad de comer aquí. Adelante. ¡No te decepcionarás! El cangrejo de concha suave era increíble, el vientre de cerdo era tan tierno como lo era el pollo de mi amigo. Wow

Después de haber leído el menú y la publicidad estábamos deseando probar una emocionante fusión asiática. Bueno, no nos dieron eso, la comida era promedio para un restaurante 'chino'. El cangrejo de concha suave se cubrió con pan rallado grueso, seco e insípido sin salsa. Las costillas de cerdo eran viscosas, no crujientes como se anunciaba y parecía que habían sido puestas en el microondas. Elegí el tofu con jengibre y caldo de sésamo. El tofu era dleicioso pero no había caldo y muy poco jengibre, se servía con unas cuantas verduras salteadas en una salsa sombría que sabía a botella. El pez monje estaba en pesadas migas de pan empapadas en salsa embotellada similar. El arroz al vapor era agradable. Con una botella de rosa, el billete era un poco menos de £ 100. Me hubiera gustado pagar eso si la comida valía la pena pero he tenido comida para llevar más sabrosa. tal vez elegimos los platos equivocados, pero CADA plato en un lugar como ese debería ser excepcional. El personal era atento, pero hablaba muy poco inglés, parecía apresurado, y se confundió cuando le pregunté si la propina iba a ellos o el propietario. No te dejes arrastrar por el bombo, no es tan bueno! .

Our experience of Opium was somehow disappointing, the ambience was very noisy which was quiet unpleasant as our table was in the middle and we were getting the loud talking noise from both sides which wasn't their fault as it was a busy night but the service also was very erratic and lacked experience, disrupting the dining by trying to take dishes away while we were still eating, missing dishes, but we couldn't fault the food which was very tasty and wished the service and ambience was a bit better.

Went here with the girls before a show at the theatre - safe to say we didn’t need to stop for food on the way home. The food was brilliant and plenty of different options to try whilst keeping the popular classics. A-bit pricey but definitely worth it. The staff were so friendly and helped us with recommendations.

Usually pop in for lunch. I have had dim sum in Hong Kong and China and this is every bit as good. Really tasty and beautifully presented. Main courses are excellent too. Highly recommended.

Visited on a busy Saturday night. We both had 3 courses, a couple of beers and soft drinks, bill was just under £100. All courses were delicious, we will definitely return in the near future.

Went on a quiet lunchtime to this fabulous restaurant. The best dim sum I have ever had. Didn’t try the main dishes as we just ordered more of the dim sum,they were that good. You could see as you passed the kitchen that everything was being freshly made. The chef came out to explain how he made them and you could tell the pride he took in his work. Will definitely visit again soon

Nice restaurant for a casual out, don’t have to book in advance. Friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyable setting. Very nice and tasty dishes. Fully enjoyed our dinner. But I forgot to take photos (only took one towards the end of our meal). 😁

Had a really nice meal here. Extensive vegetarian options which is great. Had the aubergine clay pot and it was amazing. Staff are super lovely and the place has a really nice cozy vibe. Edit: came back and had a really lovely time again, had lovely meals and the drinks were great too! Would recommend the Shanghai tofu, sweet potato dumplings and braised pork!

Always absolutely stunning food. The satay won tons are something special. This time the chilli salt squid seemed more chewy than the times before, which was a bit of a shame. The only reason I knocked a star off was due to the sheer noise inside the restaurant, there was a very rowdy big party and it took away the nice dining atmosphere that is usually there when dining at opium. But the food - sublime.

Wow! Unreal food, everything we ate was 10/10. Hot sour soup, Sui mai, dumplings, prawn toast ribs, black pepper steak and king pao chicken. The meat in the main courses was delicious, and natural not the usual sloppy cornflour mess in Chinese restaurants. Will definitely be back. The cocktails were also delicious

Food was delicious but completely overpriced. The vibe for the price doesn’t match, no fine dining feels at all for £17.2 kung pao chicken, £17.2 for half chicken breast fillet with teriyaki sauce and £5 side of egg fried rice. Service was ok, but they were very chatty and loud amongst themselves (in Chinese) - again not representative for the price range.

Came here for my birthday dinner after seeing the great reviews. Was not disappointed. Huge amount of vegan options clearly labelled, even all the wines marked as vegan. Had salt and chilli tofu and my partner had dim sum and both dishes were fab. I tried mapo tofu for my main and he has sea bass and both were incredible. Great levels of spice and umami. Service was great and we had cocktails which were done to a high standard. I thought the prices were reasonable - although £4 for a bowl of prawn or vegan crackers was steep. £8 for two bowls of crackers! Not your usual chicken curry and sweet and sour restaurant - absolutely worth seeking out. Will def be back soon.

Only one Chinese Restaurant in Scotland holds a Rosette award so we had to check it out. We had a wide selection of food, everything hit the spot! Hand wrapped dim sum is not to be missed. Very good food! Excellent dim sum and other dishes . Food was really fresh and delicious. I rate it 4 as service wasn’t the best but if you go for the food you won’t be disappointed.

I was interested in the menu and we managed to get a table without booking it The service was good though it did feel like they were trying to hurry us on and out The food was very good, as good as many of the better Chinese restaurants in London It was a good choice and somewhere we would return to if back in Glasgow

Das Restaurant bietet gute asiatische Fushion-Küche. Auch wenn der Schwerpunkt in Richtung China geht, vereinigt das Restaurant mehrere Einflüsse aus Asien. Die Dumplings mit Huhn, die ich hatte, waren wirklich lecker. Und auch das Lamm danach war sehr gut. Das Restaurant ist leider wir einige anderen Lokale in der Gegend auch, die sich aus dem Pub-/Fish&Chips-Bereich abheben wollen. Durchaus qualitativ gut und schick ausgestattet, aber auch ein bißchen langweilig und beliebig. Aber der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt.

WOW! Food was out of this world! Best Chinese I’ve ever had. The restaurant was packed and the staff did so well, to make sure everyone was happy. I would defo recommend and will be visiting again when back in Glasgow

The food was absolutely delicious and tasted so fresh. We got the hot and sour soup, bok choy, dumplings, Thai chilli beef, kung pao chicken and every dish was just stellar. A must go when in Glasgow.

If you are Asian and looking to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine, this restaurant is not a good choice. The dishes are not adapted to genuine Chinese tastes. Additionally, this is supposed to be a Dim Sum restaurant, yet they don't even provide small dishes for pouring soy sauce. On top of that, the Beijing duck was truly terrible. Very disappointing experience overall.

Food was good, bit overpriced. Service was good. Wooden chair's not comfortable. Decor not as plush as it should be charging those food prices.

An excellent fusion restaurant with a well earned rosette, and high Trip Advisor rank👍 One of two Asian restaurants that I can dine in, in Glasgow, because it serves clean MSG-free food. In this classy, well presented restaurant; you will find the highest level of service and the most divine Asian dishes (the fancy dumplings are amazing) out there😄 I highly recommend the tofu-claypot.

Asian fusion food, with Chinese and Thai options. Used seasonal vegetables such as spring asparagus. I had the seared sea-bass, which was excellent. There were several vegetarian and vegan options. My partner liked the option to have noodles accompanying his main course, instead of rice.

I loved everything! The service, food, drinks, the space itself. They helped us through our food selection and where clear on what we ordered. No ask was too much!

Tried some dim sum, slow roasted pork belly, and thai curry, everything super tasty and delicious. Also tried a couple of desserts which had more muted or subtle flavor profiles, which didn't really stack up what came before. My mind keeps going back to that curry. Overall great meal.

Excellent food. Extremely nice service, just one point down as it was just too crowded, I.e. tables too close to each other. But it’s a perfect restaurant for good food. Paid about £100 for two but it was worth every penny. Not only fresh but excellent meat, good vegetables and incredibly good desert (mousse, pannacotta ). Not only quality of food was good but also the way it was presented. Had dim sum as a starter, rice and chilli beef as well as desert. And the mocktails were also very tasty and well done. Will go again for sure and can recommend 100%

Every time I come to Glasgow visiting my sister we come here for dinner. Food is very delicious, especially the dim sum. This time I tried as main the monk fish cooked in the claypot and it was very good! Fish was very tender. I recommend to take also the ribs with plum sauce, it’s so good! The service is good, they always pay attention to take away empty dishes and pass by to refill water.

This is a hidden, tranquil spot amongst the Glasgow city centre chaos. Lovely Chinese food, albeit on the expensive side. Excellent selection of cocktails, beer and wine. The food was served almost immediately after ordering which made it feel slightly like a fast food service as opposed to relaxed dining.

It might not look much from the outside but inside, this place is amazing. Would recommend to anyone visiting Glasgow as right in city centre!

Mmmmm…. I am on the fence here. Every restaurant looks to make money and maximise covers… I understand this. However- 10 minutes to sit following a booking.. a 15 minute wait for drink orders followed by a further 10 minutes on food orders whilst seeing the staff run around mad didn’t present the feeling of quality.. but rather quantity. The food was good but didn’t hit the spot if I’m honest.. the Thai red curry was fresh but very (very) sweet. The spring rolls and gyozas were cooked well but not full of flavour. I just feel that elevated spark was missing. I appreciate we attended on a busy night and there was nothing off with the food as such, I just wasn’t impressed enough to return…

Yes, we were recommended to this restaurant as being a top Chinese in Glasgow, and whilst it was a pleasant experience, it would not rate as one of our more enjoyable nights out. The food was mainly good, though one of our dishes had to be returned for undercooked chicken. They dealt with it very well, but disappointing. The rest was good-ish but not great. The atmosphere and service were very good, and the restaurant is well positioned opposite the great little bar, the Pot Still on Hope Street, where we went afterwards!

Kate loved the vegetarian options and the clay pot aubergine was melt in the mouth. Staff were really attentive. I highly recommend the soft shell crab which had a warm heat to them that left my lips tingling. Perfect spot for a lovely meal.

Great selection of dim sum and mains. Managed to share a variety of these and they were delicious. The Kung Po wantons were a favourite, as well as the prawn Har Gow. Service was great. They were very attentive and helpful.

This is one of the best Asian meals I've ever had. The plum ribs were an absolute standout - the best I've ever had! Can also recommend their twist on a Pina colada. Can highly recommend this place, especially their dim sum options.

Come in with my partner and as vegetarian always problem choosing so the waitress was very helpful food was 5 star and service also very good attention to detail notices even smalles details and was helpful over all will go back again without a doubt

The food and service was absolutely fantastic! Waitresses were incredibly attentive and the ambience was lovely. Although food is a tad pricey, it was definitely worth it for the food and amazing service.

I was excited to try Opium for a fancy meal after seeing the menu and reviews but left disappointed and ripped off. Unfortunately I don't get the hype. It must be that the specific meal I chose was a miss. All I could taste was salt and my broccoli side was very watery. I've honestly had more flavourful Chinese takeaways. Also, I felt rushed by the servers who were prowling around our table to snatch our plates the second we were done.

Fantastic food! I would go as far as to say one of my favourite restaurants. The lunch and pre-theatre menus are great value and delicious. Love the option of dim sum.

After a disappointing start to our summer gastronomic tour we headed to Glasgow with vague plan to find an Indian restaurant and replan our week. Not being cycling fans we had not clocked that Glasgow had been shut down for cycling events and our train to Glasgow was reminiscent of the London rush hour underground system. Having survived we stumbled on an old favourite “Opium” not Indian but we gave it a go. It was fabulous! The staff the ambience, food and drink were just superb. Delighted, when a couple with three screaming children came in, that when they asked if there was a children’s menus they were advised no! Peace restored we had a leisurely excellent meal, fair price and great service- thoroughly recommend!

The Malaysian Spicy tiger prawn was authentic. Siew mai better than crab and chives. Spring rolls were yummy. Spicy soup was not spicy and authentic enough for Asian palate but my Scottish friend loved it. Spicy tofu.. excellent. Generous with sauces n don't charge extra for chili oil. Will definitely return to check out other dishes.

I'd been to Opium a long time ago and enjoyed my visit so thought it was time to visit again and wasn't disappointed. When we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile and shown to our table. It was an early evening booking so we were the first people in but the restaurant soon filled up and within less than 30 minutes the place was nearly full. Friendly, polite staff. Attentive service. Lovely surroundings and the food was excellent with a good selection on the menu. There was a large table of about 14 in so did get a little nosiey but thats more of an observation than a criticism. Could do with online booking as my email booking wasn't replied to. With that said would definitly visit again.

Exceptional. Food was outstanding and service to match. We had dumplings, Thai Chilli beef and pork belly. All dishes were superb. Best meal I have had in a long time. Service and staff excellent. Will now be my go to in Glasgow for Chinese.
