The service is fantastic, friendly, helpful and attentive, rare in Chinatown when most of the waiters have faces like thunderstorms, just want to stuff you quickly and get rid of you quickly so that the table can be free quickly. We absolutely hate that. We, that’s my friends and my family, absolutely love Only Yu, there’s no service charge added, no charge for tea per person, my mum won’t eat anywhere else! That’s telling 👍🏼

Great service and a classic Chinese restaurant atmosphere. I enjoyed everything I ordered, though I found the rice noodles a bit bland. That said, the meal was still very satisfying and offered great value for money. Would definitely visit again!

I heard about the delicious food and came here to try it. The two of us only ordered a few dishes👉 (salt and pepper fresh squid). It is different from the ones in Hong Kong. Maybe the squid stored in the ice does not have the taste of fresh squid. 👉(Saliva Chicken) The sauce is good, but it’s a pity that the chicken is so solid that it’s hard to bite. Wow🙈A sample of soup and sugar water are provided👍The waiters are polite and customer-oriented, and the response is quick👍I’m a bit disappointed that the food quality and taste are not as good as expected.

This restaurant was recommended by a colleague, and it didn't disappoint! The portions are generous and the food is absolutely delicious, the crispy duck is the absolute best we have ever tasted, crispy but juicy and very tasty. The fried prawn balls were incredible! The only reason for giving it a 4 out of 5 is that the veg on the menu seemed disproportionately expensive compared to the other items. An example: a small portion of iceberg lettuce or green beans would cost £13.80, Pak choi £17.80! In comparison to half a Peking crispy duck, which is priced around £22, that seemed very odd. We didn't order any veg, we did ask out of curiosity to one of the waiters how come the veg prices were so disproportionate to the rest of the menu and he didn't really have an answer. A bit odd, but it didn't take away from the absolutely delicious food we have experienced. Will definitely go back, but won't order any veg 😅

My favorite Cantonese/Chinese place in Manchester. Been here a dozen times and it rarely disappoints.

Went to the restaurant on 27.01.2025 and absolutely loved it. Went back three days later and was disappointed. The chef’s special eggplant casserole with salted fish (£28) was fantastic on my first visit. The dish took quite a while to cook, but it arrived absolutely delicious. On my visit on 30.01.2025, I ordered the same dish—no salted fish in the dish whatsoever (three days ago, there was plenty), and it arrived within seven minutes. My husband ordered the pork belly, and it was partially cold. Reheated leftovers from New Year? The white rice was also overcooked—felt like it had been sitting for days.

Very good food, excellent service.. we enjoyed our dinning experience at "Only Yu". Complimentary soup of the day served piping hot and desert after our meal. Not sure if this is standard but it made our dining experience memorable.

Typical Cantonese restaurant. We tried the dim sum, roast meat platter with duck, pork belly and Char sui (all were very tasty), also had spicy chicken and Chinese greens. Nice and tasty meal, as others have said, very pricey for what we had and the amount. Restaurant decor could do with some tlc. If we were in Manchester again and wanted Cantonese style cuisine, we would probably go back.

Had a very enjoyable and authentic lunch here. The staff were very friendly and speedy and the food itself was absolutely delicious. If you want an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine, then look no further than Only Yu. I shall be returning to sample so many of the other things I didn't get to try. The only down side was having to wait to be seated, but that was due to the fact that the place is so busy which, for me, is a good sign. However, the wait is worth it.

Boxing Day meal We had a delicious did sum selection. All of us enjoyed them very much. However, prawns in Sichuan souce were rather poor. It's ashame as it spoiled the experience a little bit. This is the reason for ×÷×.

As a large group we ordered mostly banquet menus at around £30 per person. The range and variety was amazing,Pork/chicken/beef/prawn/tofu noodles/rice/greens, dumplings. All the food came to the table in a nice steady stream so just as you were finishing your first bowl another dish came out. The whole table is a lazy Susan so you can share very easily with 10 people easily. We had ordered too much so ended up with two meals in a carry out boxes. Also if you notice that there's a lot of chinese people eating somewhere it's a very good sign.

The food is really average. Happy seasons is much better. They don't even have chrysanthemum tea! Fried rice so so Corn soup with crab super salty Steam rice roll don't pass The saving grace is the charcoal har kow

Food wise, plenty of choice of dim sum. Service wise , some are rushing not so patiently when receiving questions. I like them serving all at once. Overall good, or I should say much better comparing to London Chinatown, where the attitude, the cleaness of food are really a problem.

I visited this restaurant with a friend after being recommended it by a local. I’ve walked past it a few times and overlooked it because it was hard to physically see inside the restaurant but never judge a book by its cover. I honestly had the most wonderful experience here from the moment I walked in. The first thing I noticed was how many local people were actually eating here and that’s always a good first sign. Between myself and my friend, we ordered 3 steamed dim sum starters and we had the chilli beef, vermicelli and fried rice for mains. Everything we had was beautiful and the portions were pretty big! The service from Ada and Lee was impeccable and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be return ing to this establishment and recommending to others! The seats are wide enough to lie down, and the food tastes better than similar Chinese restaurants, but the price is relatively expensive. I went at 6pm on a Sunday. There were not many people, but the food was served very slowly.

Not much to look at outside or the entrance. The plastic well worn table cloths do little to impress you. The restaurant situated in China Town is well located. The service was typical Chinese fast and efficient. The set early menu is good value. The soup starter was super hot but a little too thick and wallpaper paste consistency. The starters were large and delicious. The main course was an ample size for those with a normal appetite. Everything was hot and tasty. We noticed a number of dinners were having food from the full menu The portions looked very large. Overall if you look beyond the first impression and give the place a chance you will find efficient staff and quality good value food.

I would say that “Only Yu” might just be the best dim sum restaurant in Manchester at the moment.
