Lotus Vegetarian Kitchen in Manchester

Just had a very, very good takeaway from Lotus, a recent discovery of ours. A seriously good vegan Chinese. The “chicken” satay was excellent, as was the tofu Kung po. Looking forward to exploring more of the menu soon. Good value, great quality and the food was light and fresh. Excellent!

Praise Seitan! Ordered a takeaway as we were tired. I'm not a veggie but my partner is. We were both blown away by the quality of the food. I had no regrets at the meat substitute and she enjoyed the wide choice not always available to a veggie ordering Chinese. Will look at eating in next time.

Went to celebrate the end of exams, and it lived up to the occasion. The staff were lovely and the food was SO good! Would recommend to all, meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans alike!

WOW! Went here for my 30th birthday hadn’t booked a table prior to arriving - and my mother had brought a birthday cake for me for after our meal which she secretly arranged on arrival with staff - and the staff had written me a happy birthday card for when my cake came out! They went absolutely above and beyond such lovely people! The food was absolutely incredible it’s only my self who is vegan and the rest of my family aren’t and they absolutely loved the food and are planing to come again! Absolutely worth the 50 minute travel to here from where we live because there isn’t anywhere like this restaurant! Would absolutely recommend this restaurant 5 stars🌟

We went there to celebrate friendsmas, and had soo much fun! Everyone is happy with their finger-licking meals, great variety of options, looks and tastes great, welcoming and friendly staff. They recently reopened, so everything is new and nice, great atmosphere. I highly recommend caramel tofu (it is tofu in hot caramel, such a fun snack to share) and simmering aubergine in chef's sauce. I'm a fan of Lotus now, and many of my friends love it and have been going here for years. I'm gluten-free btw and had a good range of options to pick from.

Fully vegan restaurant serving some of the best Chinese vegan food I've ever eaten. The menu is huge and every single thing we tried was delicious, from bao buns to laksa skewers to Kung po chicken. Service was really friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. I already can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. If you enjoy mock meats especially this place is a must visit!

The nicest vegetarian Chinese restuarant, very pleased they have reopened. Would usually order delivery, this was my first time in the restuarant and its very cute and cosy, all the food is so vibrant in both appearance and taste. The popcorn tofu is unlike anything else.

Best Chinese food I’ve eaten! The atmosphere is great. The staff are so friendly, informative and wonderful people. They’ve recently renovated and the resturant looks lovely. We visit Lotus when we can to order & eat as much as we can consume. Every time we have been; the food is always delicious and the staff are always extremely friendly. The dishes are a good size that you can share a few or have 1-2 on your own. I would highly recommend working your way through the entire menu and definitely leave space for a red bean pancake and/ or a crispy red bean paste bun for dessert! See you soon for another big order 🙂

Couldn’t love this restaurant more if I tried. Has been a favourite for about 10 years now. My most recent visit saw a gorgeous new menu with the same amazing taste and old favourites. Always a calm and tranquil environment playing lovely songs and the BYOB and affordable menu makes it somewhere you want to return to the very next week!

We are so happy to be able to dine here again. Beautiful food, we look forward to trying different courses on the menu. Some new items have been added as well. We will definitely return soon.

I really like this place, it's so nice to have a vegan Chinese, apart from the odd takeaway I'm not aware of any others in Manchester. I really hope it opens back up soon, feels like it's been ages.

Whole experience was unbelievable. The waiters were so welcoming, caring & attentive. This place is a beacon of light. Each dish was amazing, food was made with so much love & care. Authentic, filling but also sits really well in you. (Some Chinese food can be over oily & leave you heavy). Can also tell the chefs really care. Food & restaurant filled with amazing energy. Amazing value & generous portions. Tables are big & place is spacious. You feel like you can have a private time with your partner. We need more places like this. Namaste to the whole team. Gorgeous fully vegan Chinese restaurant. Would highly recommend a visit

As a non-vegan I can't recommend this place enough. It's really exceptionally delicious food. We ordered LOTS but everything that we had was really delicious and we will certainly be returning soon. They make all the meat substitutes in house and they are off the charts delicious and flavoursome. 1000% recommend the chili beef! They have a ground floor which is wheelchair accessible and we where seated upstairs with our small baby which had a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff where very friendly lovely people. It's a BYOB establishment with an off licence right next door. It's well priced and won't break the bank! I'd recommend this regardless of if you're a vegan or not. It's just good, delicious food.

I really recommend this amazing restaurant, even as a non vegan (like me) you should really give it a try. The food portions are extremely generous for the price, compared to other places. They do not serve garlic or onion either, which is good for people who might be intolerant to them or with certain medical issues. Like i said I HIGHLY recommend anybody with any kind of dietary style to come here and try the amazing food out! My personal favourite is the satay sizzling plate, they come bring it to your table and it makes a sizzle noise which is really exciting.

Paid £31 for frozen soggy salt an pepper chips with no salt on noodles and fried rice with no taste portions the smallest I’ve ever seen an curry sauce that was bitty seaweed that actually tasted of cabbage food covered in chilli’s to obviously giv the whole lot some kind of taste never ever again

I really loved the food every time I went over the years. Top quality, big portions, huge menu to choose from and some classic favourites that I can’t resist such as prawn toast, ‘fish’ dishes, mock meats. The food is dreamy, the staff is always lovely and prices remained reasonable compared to other places these days.

The food was OK. Starters were quite bland (we had the mixed sharing starter). Mains were OK. Given the choices in Manchester I probably wouldn't go back for the price it was.

came and had dinner by myself last week, and staff were so welcoming. very friendly and helpful with portion recommendations. had the siu mai bao buns - incredible - and the spicy laksa noodles with plant based meat that was very delicious. spoke to a regular who has been coming every week for a while, and I may have to follow suit, it was so so good! also appreciate knowing what can be gluten free, so I can bring friends!

Came back after a few years with some colleagues from work to introduce them to Lotus as they’ve never been before. My colleagues enjoyed the food although the peking ribs were quite sweet. Unfortunately the service was lacking tonight. Quite difficult to keep two young children patient for almost 3 hours.

The food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the dish with wood ear mushrooms and bamboo shoots. There were other delicious varieties of mushrooms in the dish, too, so if you like mushrooms, I recommend it. The proprietors are very pleasant and friendly and provide superb service. The furniture is nice (especially the chairs), and the atmosphere is pleasant.

The Lotus Plant Based Kitchen exceeded our (high!) expectations! First class service, nice atmosphere and delicious food. My mushroom allergy was taken seriously and I felt confident about what did/din not contain them. Gluten free options were clearly marked. There are many options and the servings are a good size so you would need lots of visits to try everything! The kids have already planned what to order on a return visit next time we are in Manchester!

The loveliest service and the best food in Withington! The dumplings, chick'n skewers, fried rice, hot pots, sesame toast... everything is incredible and the best bit is it's all vegan :) The waiters are so kind and welcoming - thank you! We feel very lucky to have such a great restaurant just round the corner from where we live. Very reasonable prices too.

I can't recommend this restaurant enough! We've found a new date night spot =D The food is really good, filling but not greasy / junk feeling. Staff are absolutely wonderful, they seem genuinely happy and welcoming with their customers, super polite, friendly and funny too ^-^ As for the menu, there's such a huge variety available that it was hard to make a choice! All this and vegan too, you really can't go wrong! We came in the evening (around 7pm) on a weekday and it was pretty busy + there's very limited parking out front, so I recommend booking ahead if you want to visit during the evening. That being said, we didn't have a booking but we were still seated straight away (lucky!) and served very quickly once we had made our choices. I honestly love them! Thank you Lotus =D

OMG I cannot praise this place enough. Amazing vegan Chinese food. So tasty. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Very clean and toilets very clean too. The Dim Sum and Tofu dishes are to die for. And the Crispy Wontons are the best I have EVER tried. Even my partner who is a meat eater 🙄 really enjoyed the food and he is VERY hard to please. We will be back for sure. Loved it 😊

Lotus offers the best Chinese food ever. Our table had a wide range of dishes, all were great and some, for example the chilli 'squid', were superbly stunning. The sauce for my beef satay had a perfect balance between the satay and chilli, and all the vegetables were perfectly prepared and cooked. Wow.

This is my favourite place ever, have tried every single item on the menu in the past couple of years. Food is vegetarian/vegan and there is absolutely no compromise in terms of taste. Bao buns are my absolute must haves. Presentation is excellent and so is the service. The jasmine tea is sublime. Highly recommend!

First time trying Lotus Kitchen yesterday, and it was incredible! The food was sublime, tasted amazing and was beautifully presented. I was amazed at the value for money too, with most main dishes being £10 and most starters £6. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and overall it was a positive and delicious evening. Thank you Lotus!

The vegan duck pancakes weren't an amazing texture/taste, but the rest of the food was good. Very friendly staff, reasonably priced, and good quality

The food was incredible and the two members of staff that served us were super friendly and nice! We ordered way too much because everything sounded so good and they certainly delivered! We asked for some boxes to take the food away and the chefs added a few extra sauces as we polished ours off! We will definitely be visiting again.

Food is amazing. My GF is vegan, I'm not. The faux meat dishes we're honestly delicious I wouldn't have known the difference if no one said anything.
