Ongar Road Fish Bar in Brentwood

Beautifully cooked fish. Deliciously crisp with generous portion of chips. It seems to have changed hands over the years, but the standard has always remained excellent.

Excellent service, price and quality. Been many times for fish n chips and they never disappoint. Highly recommended

So scrolling through Deliveroo, looking for dinner on a Friday night! Come across this ongar road fish bar and it did not disappoint at all! Fantastic chicken and lamb Shish kabab and the chip shop chips we desired !! Curry sauce and halloumi was an added plus! Lovely place, will be ordering again.

Normally our top rated venue but definitely let down tonight by a long wait of nearly 20 minutes because they were prioritising online and delivery orders. Once we got the two bags of chips they were pretty good and definitely made of potato (unlike others we tried). Probably a winner but only because there others lost so empathically.

I have been using the ongar fish bar for many years, the Fish and chips ( especially the chips ) was, in my opinion, the best in Brentwood. There was a change in ownership around 6 months ago and I have to say the Fish and chips are still the best to be found in Brentwood. Generous portions, freshly cooked. The ambiance isn't quite the same but that said it's remains a top chip shop with friendly staff. Throughly recommend.

Only one member of staff was wearing a facemasks. I was disappointed about the fact I left to wait 30 minutes for my food even though I got there before anyone else. They did not apologise at any point.

Always a fantastic meal from here. This is apart from the last.. Half the meal missing.. soggy.. dry bread that tastes like soap. Incorrect order.. like its changed hands? terrible.
