Can not give a good review because I was not allowed in, perfectly sober, well dressed but the bouncer thought I was straight so therefore gave me some rubbish about single entry not allowed. Discrimination laws work both ways and I will be taking it further. Just for your information I am a gay guy who just happens to be straight acting. With the smoking ban coming these pubs will loose 12% of trade but this obviously does not bother them.

Same old story with this place, the bouncer with the blond hair completely ruins the vibe. I watched him as he refused a few different people entry over the course of a few minutes for absolutely no reason. Guy’s on a power trip putting small D energy out everywhere.

Refused entry by incredibly rude and smug bouncer who claimed that I had had too much to drink (this was early in the night and I was completely sober). When me and my friend asked if he was kidding since we couldn’t believe him, he claimed that my pupils were too wide and that he could tell by my demeanour that I was clearly too drunk. Absolutely awful treatment and clearly just selectively refusing entry to people without any valid reason.

every time i go, the same bouncer (blonde with a buzzcut) tells me i can’t come in because my pupils are too big? i don’t do drugs nor have i been under the influence of alcohol and i think its very unprofessional. every single bar other than this one lets me in perfectly fine.

Came in on a Sunday night and was met at the door with two amazing, polite and very attractive bouncers, the drinks were reasonably priced and the music was a vibe, overall great experience!

I wasn't let in because I looked different😱😱 It is truly shocking that in 2024, bars that promote racism and discrimination still exist, especially in a community that is supposed to stand for equality and respect, like the gay community. It stands in stark contrast to the values ​​that stand for acceptance and the celebration of diversity. The shame this causes not only affects those directly discriminated against, but also tarnishes the image of the entire community and the institutions that are supposed to protect them. The words of equality and non-discrimination seem empty when confronted with experiences as painful as yours.

I couldn’t get in, racist bouncers

After being there having a drink, the bouncer didn’t let us get in to have a second drink. The bar just had 2 people inside. He was rude for no reason.

just wanted to give a bit of a feedback on the event that we have had turned up to tonight. The brunch states 4 pm until 8 pm. Which was the Beyoncé show. The brunch started close to 5 and was only on until 7pm. We have had to pay for drinks in the end as I've been told it's not paid for. Well, we have paid 50 pound for a brunch that wasn't even fully covered? The food had arrived. We have been given chips and burger? the lady has come up and gave us the food. Without asking which girl has the diary free option and there was only two of us? They didn't ask which one can't have it before handing me the food. Which is really disappointing because I strictly can't have diary. I had to question the waitress myself. The brunch and the girls were great but I feel like we didn't pay what we were ment to pay for. We paid over £100 for what exactly? The brunch started late and finishing early. Feel like it hasn't been what we expected which is really disappointing night, and asked us to pay for drinks because it didn't include it? So the money we paid for what was it for exactly ! We won't be returning surely as I feel like we didn't get our moneys worth, infact, we have wasted it. And had to pay nearly £30 towards it.

Nice drinks prices in a bar on Canal Street. Nice music choice.

Awful experience bouncer was rude and unprofessional there was a small angry man another customer trying to fight people all night trying it on with every girl felt very uncomfortable and staff didn't do anything about it, wouldn't recommend or come here again

Bouncers on a bad power trip everytime we go. Awful, nasty bullies that like to play around with people. They ruined our night, will not be returning. Never had an experience like this, nasty people.

Went to OnBar this evening with my friend, came all the way from Glasgow just for this establishment as the bartender Jay had recommended it. No regrets whatsoever! Jay was very accommodating, approachable, knowledgable about the drinks and undoubtedly made us feel very welcome tonight. I’ll most definitely be back - cheap drinks, good shots & outstanding service! Thanks again to Jay & team. X 🩷

Went in over the weekend, Chloe and Corey who worked on the door were very helpful, good vibes on the bar, I recommend visiting the bar for a night out on canal street, cheerful and every member of staff were friendly and professional from door team to bar staff

Door staff and security are absolutely shocking couldn’t care less about your customers. Asked for assistance numerous times but didn’t listen. Had one person waiting outside for a friend because they left because of people making them feel uncomfortable and argued when trying to go back inside to see if there friend is ok. One young lad on the doors tonight said he’s probably going to be sacked tonight to other crew members he wasn’t a very pleasant person.

Was walking past and got into a conversation with one of the door staff called Chloe. She was very welcoming and told us that On Bar is a great night out and she didn’t disappoint! Will be back again thanks to Chloe!

I lost my wallet at the begining of the night and the bouncer (Corey I think he's name is) great lad, picked it up for me and kept it with him safe until he saw me and passed it over to me. the two of us had our id checked when another bouncer came over saying 'hello children' (we look young but we are over 18) which was very rude. He told us we weren't allowed in because we ' weren't the type of people they wanted' despite wanting to sit outside like everyone else . discriminated against for no reason... lots of other bad reviews about the bouncers and bar seems to be doing nothing about it! won't be going back. 1 star for being called 'children' and 'not the type of people they wanted'

Looked a nice busy bar from outside so joined the queue which was moving very slowly. Noticed the group in front of us being thoroughly questioned before going in. When we got to the bouncer, he was rude and refused us entry for no good reason. His customer service skills were shocking, he was just picking and choosing who he wanted to let in for no apparent reason

Gabby, who was working behind the bar, was an absolute angel! She gave me and friends such lovely, friendly service front the second we got into the club. I lost my phone and when it was handed to the bar she immediately came and found me in the smoking area and gave it back! Such amazing staff and beautiful vibes!!! Love it!!

Would not visit. Me and my friend got off the train and went straight there. We walked up to the door and the bouncer put his hand up and said no we’d had too much to drink! We’d only just got off the train!? And we were sober!? What a start to my birthday night out!!! RIDICULOUS!!!! 6 gay lads all having a great night, we was going to call in on bar, we didn't even get to the door before one of the bouncers denied us entry, he said he didn't have to have a reason after one of the lads an ex bouncer asked why. Why have such an angry attitude to people enjoying themselves. There wasn't a single person in the bar, so they are only losing custom for the landlord, we were spending over £40 a round, so if they can afford to turn this down then they obviously don't need to do much trade. This bouncer needs to move on to another job that makes him happier as he obviously isn't happy here.

Chloe was absolutely amazing. She tended to our every need and she ensured we felt safe. Pay rise!!

Tbh, 1 star might be unfair because the cocky door staff wouldn't allow 3 of us (all gay men) in. Weird! We were all sober but the doorman refused entry and was just an obnoxious goon. Seems other reviews tell of other peeps having the same experience. Thank goodness for the old bars where gays feel welcome... NewYork, Centre Stage, Union...this venue seemed not at all inclusive in its entry policy... what a shame if LGBT+ in the village is going this way

We come here because the staff are helpful and respectful from the door staff team to the bar staff. Whenever we ask the security for anything there always helpful and happy to help.

We always visit Onbar when we venture to village i even take my mum. There's a Great atmosphere, music and the staff are lovely. the Door staff are great. we were there a few weeks ago and had an issue with a group of lads outside door staff got on the radio and told other bars about a group of trouble causers in the area, got rid of them and made sure we were safe. everytime we went out for a smoke they would chat to us about our night and gave us a few bar recommendations when we said we were moving on.

I dont ever post on these things but I really thought I MUST in this case. I add to another reviewer called 'MS' point about discrimination against single men. Tonight I was refused entry as a single man. The bouncers told me this was 'policy' which fits with 'MS' review. I subsequently managed to speak to the bar manager who apologised and told me it was not policy, but he refused to ask the bouncers for an apology, or to get them to acknowledge any wrongdoing, or to allow me entry. Another visitor, and her boyfriend, were denied entry even for speaking to me. I went home, lay on my bed, and cried. As a 38 year old man I have never been so humiliated in my life, and in a place that I thought was my safe space. End of. Please do not visit this place, I cannot understand how bar management do not understand the pain they are causing people. Take care real people X

I love this place. The bar staff are all welcoming and have excellent customer service , the door staff are great making sure you feel welcome and safe full of smiles and laughs never had a bad experience here and I’ve been going for over 6 years🫶🏽

I’m disgusted with the bouncers who was on here last night! I’d been out with my husband for 3/4 drinks and then been for a big meal. We called to have a drink in this bar whilst walking back to our hotel. The bouncer looked me up and down and refused me at the door and said I’d had too many drinks!!! I have my own opinion as to why she didn’t want to let me in… and let me tell you I had absolutely not had too many drinks. But come on ON BAR!!! Have a word with your rude ignorant bouncers .

As someone that is recently single, recently lost a parent and a sibling, I decided to head out and spend some time alone in a village I am meant to feel safe (as a gay man) I was refused entry as Tey don't allow 'single entry'

Used to be my fave place to go in the village however I will NOT be going here again unless the security change. They are homophobic and rude! I have been going to the village for over 10 years and NEVER been spoken to the way the new security did to me on Wednesday night. AVOID AVOID AVOID. If I could give 0 stars I would!

The bouncer was so rude no manners at all decides to kick you out with no reason at all, Me and my girlfriend ordered a beer and went out for a smoke he asked us to leave the drinks inside my girlfriend asked him could we put it on a side near to his station he told her do as told and shut up .! It was quite a shocking way I asked him to speak with ladies in a better way he decided that both aren’t allowed to enter back inside and I asked him politely to meet the manager since that he didn’t have manners he said I’m the boss here no manager is available at this time , So it ended up I paid for my drinks and didn't even manage to have it. The place has nice vibes, good music but This bouncer needs to understand how to respect people and to be more professional and that would be my last visit to your bar Thank you !

After getting kicked out for no reason other than going outside to smoke, the bouncer and the Bald Guy with glasses stood at the door telling me that my stuff wasnt in there... where else could it be? i was stood outside for hours trying to get my phone so i could get home until some random guy punched me in the face for no actual reason, he may have been in the pub previous or worked there cause when some guys ran towards him he disappeared inside, even though what he'd done was in plain view of the bouncers. highly wouldn't recommend this place. plus

Was sceptical after reading the last reviews but a groups of 11 30+ girls have had an absolute fabulous time here with the bottomless brunch, special Shout out to Leo who served with a smile on his face the whole time!

Bar staff and on site photographer were lovely. I had left my keys in the club and only noticed when security were the only ones left inside. They took the opportunity to intimidate me into agreeing to write a review before returning my flat keys to me. Overall good time but the bouncers have questionable morals to say the least.

Nice venue with some interesting history with good seating inside, on a balcony upstairs or outside.

Oh my goodness what a amazing night I had on Saturday for my hen party we had the most fun and could not have asked for more. Massive thank you to James and Johnny who made the night extra special. Wish I could do it all again this weekend but will defiantly be back. Girls if you are looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion you can not go wrong, excellent staff, 90 mins of flowing prosecco served by very handsome butlers in the buff and four hours of endless laughs with great music. Thank you for a night I will never forget.

Me and my partner was sat in the bar near the door, and we was looking outside and we seen the doorman Adam selling drugs. This was a number of times, and it was in small bags with white power in them.

Had a good time there, prices are ok, but jeez so many straight men, it was unbearable! I went with my friend and we had to keep telling men off because they were hitting on us. Made me feel very uncomfortable when over 80% of gay village that night was straight men just starring at us. It's not the bar's fault of course, but it definitely ruined our night.

Seriously don't You will be accused of a couple of things. Firstly you will be accused of calling a member of staff of being a d***head. When you go downstairs you will be asked to come for a chat outside. You will then stand in front of Judge Jury and Executioner outside who will accuse you of said things and then the bouncers will accuse you of being homophobic. All that for playing an out of tune piano which was open Also outside, my friend was thrown to the curb by someone who wasn't connected to the bar, but the bouncers left him to it Anyway, enjoy Pride

Do no go to this bar if you are tourist or from different country. They threw us out of the bar with very rude physical manner without any explanation or authenticity. Cautious of these staffs they will push you out for their fun.

Amazing bar ! Amazing door staff a shame the same can’t be said for “G A Y” next door and their discriminating door staff… will definitely return to “on bar” the same can’t be said for next door avoid at all costs and go to “on bar” it’s a million times better and they do not discriminate!!

Floor inside was sticky, the draft cola was flat (they have cans available) and the music was decent. The 2nd floor balcony is lovely.

Visited during the day and had a drink. Returning in the evening wearing the same clothing we had been in, we were met by a very rude bouncer who refused to let us in to the EMPTY bar because of clothing. Spent money else where end will not be going back. Ask your bouncers to grow up.

Great bar, xenophobic bartenders. I've been here multiple times, but Jesus, the blond bartender on 05/12/2021 heard I was from America and made many rude assumptions. Disgraceful and uncalled for.

I ordered drinks and handed my card to my friend to pay. Allbeit my fault, I passed the wrong card so so gave the wrong pin number - easily done. The card ended up blocked. The blonde guy behind the bar threw both receipts at the bar, massive attitute. I eventually realised and the bill was paid by one of my friends. The time was at 1pm - 2:30 so you're welcome to check to your cameras to see how he through the receipts. Appreciate you'll usually get very drunk people in at this time but as responsible business owner employing over 30 employees, I wouldn't put myself in any such situation. If any of my staff did anything of the sort, they wouldn't be an employee for long - respect costs nothing. I left the drinks on bar on the left. I informed the bouncers on my departure.

Great bar. It wasn’t too busy on a Thursday night, and we got a couple of nice drinks. The staff are friendly, and the place is well decorated. They had a nice looking cocktail menu too. I’d definitely come back here.

Went with a large party. Tables so rickety drinks fall over so easily. If you are veggie or vegan expect to wait a long time for you crap pizza! Got thrown out after 30 minutes. Bar staff so rude. Terrible ‘bottomless’ brunch with Buff Bingo. Was meant to start at 4pm and we didn’t get into our seats until 4:45pm, obviously to make us buy drinks at the downstairs bar. A butler came around with Prosecco every 20 minutes or so - one small glass at a time. If it was really bottomless they would have left Prosecco on the tables. The food was stone cold! Couldn’t cut it and therefore didn’t eat it. Bingo games - the prizes were… PROSECCO. And it supposed to be a bottomless Prosecco brunch. The drag act was OK and the DJ was excellent but totally not worth £45 a ticket. Also dealt with 2 rude members of staff on my visit. I’m aware this event was likely from an outside company coming it but On Bar should not affiliate with something that is so low quality and overpriced. A really rubbish day.

Me and my friends went out on Saturday (31/7/21) on canal street, the first bar we came across was ON Bar. Two of my friends suffer from autism and can get easily excited when out. As we walked up the door the lady straight away told us to ‘keep on walking’ ..when we asked why? She responded ‘you ain’t coming in here!’ The members of staff that were also outside were laughing and thought it was hilarious to turn away people with learning difficulties. I suggest to train and educate your staff on common decency as it’s not ok to treat people that are different in a shameful way. I work in the hospitality sector so I know the rights and wrongs.

Wort cocktails ever!!! If they had pre made stuff straight from the bottles it would have been better. Ordered a espresso martini that they had made with cola!! Pina Colada that had never seen a coconut in its life, Mojito that had a few sad looking mints in it and that was it. Didnt taste anything like any Mojito. The bar staff were rude and clearly either just didnt give a crap or more probably didnt know how to make any of the basic basic cocktails on the list and was well over priced. The wine options was also awful. On a plus note the bar its self is really nice with open sides playing music out on to the street and has a cool terrece over looking the street.

Shocked and appalled by the attitude and incompetence of bar staff! Ordered drinks; was ignored, asked the bar staff what had happened to our order and we were confronted by abuse! Charming! This is not the place to go for a relaxing drink!

One of the worst cocktails ever. We both had a Mojito, it was terribly bland and tasted as if it was just from a bottle. I’ve never had a bad mojito before anywhere. It certainly didn’t taste that it was put together from several ingredients at the bar. Total waste of money.

We were shown to an outside table by such a lovely barman/waiter, super friendly and ensured our table was super clean. He really looked after us with drinks all evening, and we developed a friendly connection.It was lovely to be in the midst of such liberation and positivity to be honest, what a place!When the outside area closed (around 11:30pm) we were asked if we would like to sit on the terrace upstairs, we obliged! We managed to skip the queue and we’re seated promptly and drinks served super quick by another lovely bar tender. She was so friendly!Such a friendly place! Lovely ambience and vibe, everyone seemed so kind to one another which is very much needed these days. One of the best bars, we were made to feel really welcome!

Went out Saturday day time as a group of 4. It was busy but managed to be seated outside. Pleasantly surprised. We all had pizzas and they were delicious. The staff were very attentive too. Eventually managed to get inside towards the end of the evening and despite the restrictions we had a great time.

Only leaving this review to warn anybody in the future not to order any cocktails from this establishment - premade, had very little alcohol but, even worse, a very unpleasant aftertaste. Our Porn Star Martinis were a let down to say the least. Staff offered us fresh drinks and were very accommodating, issued us a full refund though so cannot criticise them in that sense.

Me and my friends were singing and drinking at our table when we were approached by 2 members of staff who told us to leave the premises for... singing. Literally. Fair enough rules are rules, but we weren't warned, despite the staff trying to lie about us having a previous warning. Would rate 1 star but for the dj who was absolutely vibing

Absolutely great time at on bar. The female bouncer Hannah is absolutely fantastic couldn’t have asked for a more accommodating, lovely n genuine person. Had issues with other bars around the village with staff being rude to me and my two friends but Hannah was great and really knew how to deal with us and the other customers. Also one of the waiters / barmen really stood out to us, a guy with a septum piercing also great really friendly and helped us enjoy our time much more. If I could would rate this place a lot more than 5 stars. Big thank you to everyone here especially Hannah and you mystery guy thanks for a great evening hope to see you guys soon
