Great food perfectly cooked. The staff are so friendly and they take the time to chat ask how the meal is etc. I have been there many times and always welcome. They dont sell alcohol but you can bring your own and no need to pay the crazy restaurant mark ups. Looking forward in our next visit

Was looking at their menu. I dislike seafood and not a great lover of chicken. This take away did beef Madras! Who offers beef Madras ? They also do beef vindaloo! Never seen this before! Order was ready for collection after just 20 minutes. Great food and very generous portions too. I needed to leave some for the next day as two meals it made for me. Will now need to try the beef vindaloo next time.

WoW! Omars is one of the best eat in restaurants around. The food is amazing, great taste and decent portions, we thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were very impressed all but one little thing, that is the size of the restaurant, it's small, not cramped or anything else but when it filled up with everyone talking it got a bit too loud for my wife. All in all, great place, great food, great service.

Went to Omar’s for the first time. Unfortunately we will not be going back. The place needs a major clean, floors dirty, tables dirty and even menus had dried curry sauce on them. Disgusting! There were cobwebs everywhere that must have been there for a long time. Many of the lights were not working. Walls dirty and in need of redecoration. It felt like the place had not been updated since it opened. We had to ask for clean cutlery. Although it is a bring your own alcoholic drinks restaurant, the only soft drinks they had were lemonade or Coca Cola which were served in glasses that seemed like children’s glasses. Lacked atmosphere. No connection from the staff. Wakey wakey Omar’s, need to take a good look at your restaurant, and bring it up to date.

We opted for a takeaway and weren’t disappointed. Phone answered promptly and I was respectfully spoken to and Omar’s were more than happy to accommodate a request for a dish that I had seen on their old menu and took care to ask me how spicy I wanted this. Food was delivered at stated time and was piping hot. Everyone commented on how delicious their meals were. We enjoyed the food so much we have invited family over this Friday and will be ordering another takeaway!

Have been coming here for a few years and on the whole the meals have been lovely. I note a couple of comments regarding food being greasy and at times I have experienced this however I think this is an exception rather than the norm. Recently Omars have upped their game and last night 6 of us went for a fantastic meal. Firstly the service is exceptional. The head waiter, Rana is probably the most pleasant waiter I have ever had the pleasure of being served by. The owner, Mishbah, will come and say hello if he is around. He is really appreciative of your custom and if anything isn’t right, he will rectify immediately. On to last nights meal. We all had a new starter, chicken tikka takka which was superb. I would go as far as saying it was the best starter I have ever had in any Indian. We had a mixture of mains, all chicken dishes which were delicious. I felt moved to personally thank the kitchen staff for such a lovely meal. Well worth a visit

Used to be great but now it is awful. Food so oily that you have to tip off the oil into the sink before serving or it is inedible. Prices on website are still vastly different to those when you go and pay. I asked them if they gave changed their chef and to feedback that I can not recommend anymore and received no response. They don't care that their food is terrible compared to how it used to be. Do not waste your money or suffer stomach ache from oil ridden, poorly cooked food.

We visited as a family of 5 for mid-week evening dinner. We each had a curry. It was just semolina slop heavily coloured with food dye, no veg or spices. You could not differentiate the taste between the Korma and the Tikka Masala just visually by the bright red or yellow colour. The chicken was grisly so it was probably goat but the meat and prawns were minimal anyway. We used to religiously get a take away from here every Saturday night for about 10 years then we stopped, about 2017, as the quality became more un-predictable. Now i remember why we stopped. Its the worst indian meal of my life, and I feel personally insulted to be served up such slop on what was supposed to be a family celebration. We could wait to get out of there. I hope it closes sometime soon.

4 of us regularly visit midweek for this good food. There is a normal menu which includes all the usual favourites but cooked freshly with good ingredients. There is a further seasonal menu using a large percentage of locally sourced ingredients where the main courses include all the side dishes in the price. Finally there is a specials board with 2 or 3 starters and 2 or 3 main course suggestions; topical or up-to-date also usually including fish dishes. A couple of us had Haggis curry as it was around Burns night; my dish was mild and totally different to my friends medium recipe, both absolutely delicious. Another friend had teal curry and her dish was based by the chef on a wedding feast dish with 20 different spices also mild to her taste. Recently we had a takeaway and had the usual starters followed by CTM, Balti chicken, rice and naan’s and as we have always found, the food is hot in temperature, not oily as some can be, plenty of Indian flavour and very enjoyable.Over the years we have tried many of their dishes and continually found consistency in the presentation, and quality of the food, including good pieces of chicken breast or meat is every time abundant in the oil free sauces.

We had a tasty meal at this friendly restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. The prawn dhansak and fish curry was amazing. Excellent customer service. Shame we live too far away to visit weekly.

Went to Omars on recommendation of one of our party for midweek boys curry . Bookings are needed as the restaurant is small . There is no parking so you'd need to find alternate spot . Arrived at 7.45 , party of five with one other couple already in restaurant . The place is small and to some the decor may be outdated .The waiter was very friendly and gave explanation of the specials board which included Alpaca and Mussels , the specials menu was varied and interesting , and the standard menu was extensive and reasonably priced . As a non licensed venue you take your own alcohol but glasses are provided . Poppadum and dips were brought to table (believed gratis) Starters of Scallops , crab cakes , chicken tikka , onion Bhaji , kebab , all were tasty , and quit substantial , the scallops with green chillis were a bit fiery for my friends taste , and as they were chopped not best value starter . Mains of Chicken Naga , Chicken Rogan with Pilau rice and Naan , were tasty and substantial , two had the Chicken Mou and the two chicken breasts on each serving were huge and served with rice and salad , two big eaters had problems finishing them and no room for desserts for anyone , mint and hot towel to finish , Total bill £103 , which was quite acceptable . The special being 'special ' are bit more expensive but the standard restaurant dishes are of a comparable price to most other restaurants . We'd go again and perhaps be a bit more adventurous . The restaurant is small and could become cramped at a busy time , but as a midweek venue a good choice .

We both both love eating at Omars. The food is always freshly cooked. The a'la carte menus is superb with a lovely variety of dishes. The specials board has a selection of wonderfully unusual dishes, beef rib curry, venison dishes etc. Restaurant is nicely decorated being very small and intimate a little goes a long way. Service is prompt and pfriendly. Omars tandoori doesn't have an alcohol license so taking a bottle of your choice always helps to keep the cost down. Giving the opportunity to enjoy more for less. A truly exceptional place. Top marks.

Omars is a small place which makes it intimate. There is the normal Indian Style menu with the everyday curry dishes which are good. But the special dishes are all from local producers and really elevate the place to something really special. Some of the fish dishes are to die for. They don't do alcohol so you need to take your own which helps keep the bill comfortable. I love the place and will be back again soon.

Often have takeaways from here. Have eaten in a few times as well. Food is lovely and staff are very friendly cannot do enough for you. They don't have a licence to sell alcohol so you have to take your own if you want to drink. Reasonably priced, lovely food

Used this place a few times around nov/dec 2015 and was the best curry I've ever had. And i eat alot of curry ;-) however just recently been and obviously the chef has changed as was horrible and ended up in the bin. Shame use to like the trip here and it's a pretty little restaurant even if a bit unclean/shabby looking. I won't be returning.

We've eaten at Omar's a few times and had takeaway also. The food is outstanding, the menu stands out against any other indian i have ever eaten, lots of fish and great use of local and seasonal produce. They have a special board for starters and mains and you really get a sense that they are passionate about food. The staff are always very friendly and polite, sometimes the wait is a little while but it's never been an issue as service is always with a smile and the food is always delicious. BYI means you can take whatever drink you want which is an added bonus, the restaurant is tiny - only about 20 covers so it feels intimate and cosy. Even though we live in Chelmsford, we've often made the journey to pick up takeaway as it is so tasty - i am obsessed with the scallop korma, one time they didn't have scallops in so they offered a lemon sole korma which was out of this world. This really is a step apart from your usual run of the mill indian restaurants. Top marks.

Great menu choice, usually have a takeaway. If you eat in you can take your own alcohol. Staff are friendly and helpful. Small restaurant so we prefer the takeaway service.

Frequent but not regular visitors to Omars. The food has great flavours and No alcohol license means you are free to bring your own drinks which cuts the costs down however, this week the service was painfully slowAn hour after arrival the starters were still to show themselves, yet the take away side of the business was brisk, very busy.I suggest the quickest way to sample their food is to bring it home.REALLY caring staff were disappointed and apologetic, just shouldn't have got that bad.

A small restaurant and take-away with good service and food. Not the cheapest indian but good quality and they have some unusual dishes on the menu which are always good to try. They will also make up a dish to suit your tastes/requirements.

Just had one of the best curries (chicken tikka madras) the flavour was amazing the only thing spoiling it was the tikka was slightly hard but the taste of the madras sauce mixed in with the rice made up for that. Also had some lovely potatoes. Ive had a few curries recently from Omar's since discovering the restaurant in the last month and everyone has been great, not my nearest Indian restaurant but definitely the only one i will be using now. Looking forward to my next meal.

Lovely little place, looked closed but once inside a very warm welcome and clean restaurant.Although they don't serve alcohol they pointed out the co op next door and offered to get some glasses if we would like to buy some next door, food portions were big and the food lovely. Would recommend and return again.

Had a takeaway from here a couple of times now. All of the food that we have ordered has been really good with a depth of flavour, especially the Ceylon chicken (hot), lamb madras, and the Modu chicken. The menu is varied, and there are a number of dishes that I've not seen on other Indian restaurant menus. My only criticism is the delivery time at the weekend - expect to wait around 2 hours for your meal.

After a weekend long fishing session with a friend on the last night we decided to finish off our trip with an Indian take away, usually we order from the Hatfield tandoori but being a bank holiday it was closed and omars was the only restraunt in the area available, this is when our weekend took a turn for the worse, I have always had my doubts about omars based on the views of other peoples experiences which have generally not been that good, but I took the plunge and decided to order anyway, after entering the restraunt I was rudely ordered by the dirty looking waiter to go next door as that was where the take aways are handled, I proceeded to go next door which was a groty little room which was damp and smelled of mould, as I was attended by the fellow who dealt with the takeaway orders I could here the sound of cooking untinsils working away in the kitchen along with sound of one of the chefs violently sneezing, at this point I should of just walked out the door and left but as the attendant said my order was just being bagged I thought I'd be ok, 5 minutes later I returned to the lake to enjoy my meal with my friend, we both thought it was strange that we both ordered the same dish (tikka masala) and they were different colour and consistency and the sag panner was full of water like it had been defrosted and r-cooked, we both ate our meals amd I have never tasted an Indian like it, I could not keep it down and all night I was restless and vomited on several occasions and my friend had to visit the lakes on site toilet 8 times through the night, I will not be using omars again and would advise anyone else not to either.

The staff are extremely friendly and happy to let us order off menu, nothing is too much trouble. I can highly recommend a visit to Omars!

We have eaten in the restaurant, and had many takeaways from Omars. The restaurant always seems to come up with interesting variations which make visiting a treat. The takeaways are always delicious and given the vagaries of the restaurant trade, impressively on time.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The chef produces wonderful dishes which are consistently good - some of the traditional favourites and some excellent house specialities - we are regular visitors and the welcome is always friendly. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the team. You take your own drink and they do the rest. All the food is freshly cooked. We have introduced many friends and they all come back for more! I can't recommend it highly enough.

Had not tried Omars before and was pleasantly surprised by the service, quality and flavours.Portion size good, value average, cooking was excellent with good quality ingredients. We were told 30 minutes to pick up and everything was ready when we arrived. Timing spot-on. All-in-all, a good local curry house worthy of patronage and a return visit.
