Despite having a booking, the place was completely closed and no effort had been made to contact me or any of the other people who had turned up. Phone went directly to voicemail. No response to email. Disappointed.

We really didn’t enjoy our food here. So many things not available from the menu (at 5pm) and some starters only enough for one serving. Our mains didn’t fair any better but were edible however my friend wasn’t able to eat her food at all. The two puddings, fruit cake and ice cream or ice cream, were the only choices but I’m not sure you could call it fruit cake. Never seen one like that before. Again almost all of it was left on the plate. We did tell the waitress we didn’t like the food and she was very apologetic, the quality wasn’t her fault. We had a voucher for the meal but we were asked to settle the bill of £2 for the extra bacon topping! Was probably one of the worst meals I’ve had and hope it was just an off day for the chef. It has put me off going back unfortunately.

Went here with an Itison voucher with friends. Saturday 5pm there were three options not available from the menu and only one portion of haddock goujons available. The chicken burgers were okay but the chicken Diane was unedible. The desert option was fruit sponge (also inedible) with or without ice cream. The server was helpful and pleasant but the food was a major let down.

If I could do half a star I would. It was such a disappointment we had are Xmas lunch and it was so poor. The portions were tiny, and the vegetables were burnt. Quite an expensive lunch, very upset 😡

Enjoyed a fantastic brunch here today. Perfect service, tasty quality menu, and special atmosphere. This was my first visit but I can't wait to go back!

Me and my girlfriend loved our experience at Olive Alexander’s, the food was fantastic and we highly recommend trying the Korean chicken and the kimchi rice balls! The staff were great and very friendly too. After our meal we thought we’d continue the night at ‘The Barbelow’ downstairs which had a great selection of drinks and nice wee beer garden out the back with some heaters and blankets for us. We will be back very soon!

Very disappointing. Service pleasant but incredibly slow. Table wasn’t ready on time. Food was pretty substandard- hard bagels and filling was bland. Nice looking place but needs to offer better food and service.

Held a hen do for 20+ people in Olive Alexander's upstairs private function room at the beginning of September and cannot fault our experience. The owners and staff did everything they could to ensure they catered the event to our preferences, consulting at length with me on our choices for the day. The room is a beautiful setting and they allowed us to add our own decoration which were a lovely touch but honestly not necessary given the elegance of the space. Our cocktail class was brilliant fun, and they did so well catering this to twenty folk who were almost all complete novices to cocktail making. Alex struck the perfect balance between being involved but not being overbearing - something that I've found at classes elsewhere often isn't the case! Non-drinkers were also catered to, whilst still being able to get involved. The chef tailored the food menu to our country theme, serving a buffet (at our request) with vast array of very tasty American soul food + tex-mex style dishes. I've been downstairs in the main restaurant many times, and always rave about the food to anyone who will listen, and I'm happy to say everyone at the party understood why after this buffet! If anyone else is arranging an event, I'd highly recommend the chef's sweet potato pie... Dietary requirements were catered to very well too, with the majority of dishes served either adhering to the many in our party or having an alternative option - meaning no one felt left out! I'd like to pass on my thanks, once again, to all the staff for making the day as brilliant as it was. They really did bend over backwards to ensure our event went as smoothly as possible, and even jumped in at short notice to change table set up etc. halfway through! For the price, they really ensured we got our money's worth and did everything in their power to ensure we had as much fun as possible. The food and drink at Olive Alexander's is always standout, but the service and personalised touches we received on the run up to and during our event really was exemplary. Guests were still raving about the day, and the venue, at the actual wedding! I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone considering booking.

What a hidden gem, highly recommend and just a lovely place for lunch

This is an excellent family run bistro in Aberdeen city centre. The staff and food are wonderful. The food is different and very tasty. We had baked bechamel mushrooms and croissant and courgette toast, with a Pinot Grigio and a tomato juice, I was driving. Parking in the area is good. There is onstreet parking, but cheaper multi storey car parks a short walk away. This bistro is ideal for a meal before going to the Music Hall for an event. We've been three times now this year and we'll be going back.

Absolutely the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. The only reason there is one star is because you can’t give 0. Myself and my sister went today for an early lunch. We both ordered the pulled brisket Benny. It came, and first impression was not good, looked thrown together and literally no Hollandaise sauce over the eggs. Cut into the eggs and they were brick hard, brisket was like a stew and nothing like any brisket Benny we have ever had. We both did not went to eat this so I tried to catch the waitresses attention, she didn’t notice so I went to the bar, she asked what was wrong and I said the eggs should be soft and runny but they are hard, she said she would come over so I returned to the table. The waitress came but another lady came with her and asked what was wrong, I explained and she asked me did I want another, I said no, she asked what I wanted then and I said well I don’t know I need to look at the menu and she gave me the most filthy look, ignored me and asked my sister if she didn’t want it either and she said no it’s not right. She pulled the plates from the table and walked away ranting. I said to her that her attitude was shocking and we walked out. I assume this was the owner and she does not like anyone complaining, but the way she spoke to us was quite simply disgusting and you couldn’t pay me to go back to this restaurant.

A bit disappointing. It didn’t live up to the reviews, Service was good but the food a bit uninspiring.and didn’t match the lovely room. The portions were small and the chips were over seasoned. My friend did not enjoy her hotdog. The wine was good. It was quiet so lacked ambiance.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich for a starter - what’s not to like ? Amazing quirky food served by friendly helpful staff. The fish tacos were wonderful- planning to visit for brunch soon !!

Table wasn’t ready so we were asked to wait in the bar (which wasn't an issue) but then told within 30 minutes of sitting that we'd to leave in 30 minutes. No hotdog starters so that wiped out 1/3 of the starters. Hash browns a mush of oil, biscuits were really disappointing, fries unevenly seasoned as some were over spicy & others just plain fries. The beignets were delicious as was the house white wine but that was it for all 4 of us. Such a shame as we were really looking forward to this experience having looked forward to it since the menu was announced, and hoped it’d be worth our three hour round trip drive.

Just had one of the best meals of my life in Aberdeen impeccable food service and vibe .

Came here just as they had started their August menu, was really impressed by the food. Very unique, don't think you would find anything else like it in Aberdeen. Service was really friendly and efficient, definitely going to come back soon!

Went here for brunch and got the spring greens sourdough. Unbelievable flavours and just the perfect start to any day! 10/10 recommended atmosphere, food, music and staff

Incredible little cafe. We had the peach cobbler French toast and the beef brisket Benedict, and pleasantly surprised by the massive portion sizes for how inexpensive. The decor in the cafe is well thought out, the service is lovely and we will definitely be back!

Lovely brunch & excellent service in friendly & welcoming ambiance. Great to be able to relax taking our time over the meal & enjoy fabulous cocktails.

The most wonderful charming cafe in golden square! Super tasty and fun evolving menu, excellent pastries and coffee too. Dinner, lunch, and breakfast - been to all and each is divine. The BAR BELOW is a great next stop after dinner, just a quick pop down the stairs! They have an awesome beer garden out back as well. Can’t say enough good things...it’s truly my favorite spot in Aberdeen!!

Despite the surprise that they had changed the menu on arrival, we proceeded to have a lovely evening meal. All the dishes were small (think tapas) but well prepared, tasty, and arrived fairly quickly. We started with 5 but ended up getting 7 as keen to try more, standouts included the hot artichoke dip and honey chicken. We had a bottle of wine too. The servers were lovely. Enjoyed the design/decor.

Hired out the event space for a hen party, the owner was amazing in helping me organise, book, and decorate the space. The food was amazing and every attendee mentioned that it was a really fun afternoon with good food and some even tried some new dishes! We had a dedicated barman/waiter who was extremely helpful with drinks, aiding us in sorting out the games we brought, and treated us all like royalty. The event was handled professionally, and Olives made it so easy to have a good time. Several party attendees said that they would love to use the event space again and visit the deli as well. Thank you so much for a super day!

We used the events space for my hen party and it was fabulous! Staff were amazing, food was wonderful and the space was decorated spectacularly! We had an amazing afternoon and some of the staff even got in on our shenanigans. Thank you so much for a wonderful send off! Will definitely be back!

I went in with a friend as we hadn't had lunch and it was close to 6pm! The staff were very welcoming and professional, and patiently came back several times to take our orders as we kept chatting instead of choosing from the menu. We ordered 2 plates to share, which were very good, although one was slightly too peppery and the other too salty, but still very tasty. The place was quiet enough that we could chat comfortably - on a Saturday evening. Lovely deco and atmosphere.

Truly divine food, delicious wines and the staff were the informative and welcoming, cannot rate highly enough!

I had my 30th birthday party at the event space above Olive Alexander’s and it was beyond amazing, I can’t recommend the space and the team enough! The space is classic, cosy and stylish, plus the perfect location. Pauline made planning the event effortless. I was taken away with how beautiful the room looked on the day, the attention to detail was amazing and made my party even more special. My friends and family could not stop raving about how beautiful the room looked! The Prosecco on arrival was perfect and the ideal start to the most amazing cocktail making. Everyone had their own cocktail menus that was perfectly designed to fit my theme (again how amazing is Pauline’s attention to detail !). Alex made sure we all knew what we were doing and was so much fun throughout the event, it’s the best cocktail making that I’ve experienced. The cherry on top of the perfect party was the delicious food! I can not rave about the space enough! Thank you so much to the team for the best birthday party.

Friendly staff and good location with plenty of parking. However the food wasn’t amazing. Had the breakfast bagel, the bacon was very fatty and generally didn’t taste great. The coffee was quite bad also, probably the worst cappuccino I’ve ever had. Not sure if there was a problem with the machine, but it just tasted like dirty water. Couldn’t taste the coffee at all. The cake was ok though, was some sort of apple cake. Tasted good. Not sure if I’d go back, maybe would go and try the pastrami bagel as it looks nice. But all in all generally not impressed.

The staff were very friendly and pointed out all vegan options/ things that could be made vegan to me when we arrived. They said they would make a special for me if I wanted and so I was happy to go with that. It was delicious!!

This place is a hidden gem. 4 of us went for an evening meal. Food was really stunning - the cauliflower was excellent and the sharing platters great. Wine was reasonably priced for some decent bottles. One of the best places to go in Aberdeen (and love the chef giving back on unfair reviews!)

First time here for Christmas/Birthday lunch with a large group. I absolutely loved the interior design and ambience of the place. The food was lovely and well presented and waiting staff very attentive. I would highly recommend and looking forward to going back.

Shared a Christmas lunch with some friends. The menu had a good selection and the food was tasty. A voucher for a cocktail was also greatly appreciated 👍👍 After 8 martini was fab!!

Arrived on a Wednesday night and used our Itison voucher for wine flights and charcuterie for two which was really lovely. My husband had looked at the menu online before he went and said he was going to have the churros for a desert. But the waitress informed us when we arrived that the churros and the lime cello cake had run out and the chicken liver pate was not available too. Being midweek and your menu is not big we were really disappointed at the lack of food not available. We loved the decor and the atmosphere in your restaurant and the waitress was very attentive but we have never eaten at a restaurant where there was such a lot of food not available.
