Called in here on our last night in Belfast and wished we had found it sooner. Lovely, friendly staff. Warm and cosy ambience. And the food was just amazing. Never have desserts usually but we did on our visit and they were delicious. In fact all our meals were excellent. Would definitely recommend.

My partner is a coeliac so it's always difficult to find a good gluten free accomodating restaurant. Well now we have, Actons can make 99% of their extensive menu gluten free. The service was excellent and very attentive, the food was delicious and reasonably priced and the overall whole atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.

We are regular customers at Acton & Sons. We have 3 coeliac members of the family, and find the food so tasty and the service fantastic. The scampi is probably our favourite, and my kids enjoy the burger. So many options available!! Thanks to all the staff for always making our visits so enjoyable.

Excellent gluten free options. I had the scampi and chips, gluten free. As a coeliac fried food (separate fryer confirmed) can be tricky but I was absolutely fine and food delicious! Others in the group had lovely food too.

First time trying here and we were suitably impressed. The teriyaki poke bowl was delicious, really tasty and something different. My partner enjoyed the seabass.

Everything was great - appetizers, mains and dessert! The price was VERY reasonable. Great selection to choose from and the 3 course meal was fun!

A great, recommended dinner visit on a busy Saturday evening. This place was recommended to us by Bonita from the PremierInn Aflred street. We spoke to the manager Ryan who was really very pleasant and helpful, found us a table for 2 without booking prior (which having known prior we would have in advance). Excellent service from all staff with the drinks and food ordered and delivered to the table within 15 minutes of us arriving. The food was a generous portion, not greasy, extremely tasty and well cooked and very hot! Excellent quality and range to suit all people of all tastes. We will definitely return here and recommend this place to all that visit Belfast City Centre, originally family run restaurant that is clean and modern with a great vibe. It is rather loud during peak times, as with anywhere, but the staff and overall experience isnt any worse for it!

Had another great meal here with a group of friends... It's our go to place now for our get togethers... Food is always very good but what really makes it special is the staff... Everyone is so friendly and helpful.... A special shout out to Ryan... An asset to any establishment....

1st time at this establishment, hadn’t heard any 1st hand reports so always worth a punt- family of 7 including 2 fussy eaters and one child- everyone left happy and have already booked again for following month- Staff very informative and attentive- Great choice on menu- starters, mains and desserts!! Had a wonderful meal whilst on holiday. Ordered off the set price menu, all our meal choices were good - portion sizes, hot food and superb friendly staff. Excellent value for a city centre, would highly recommend

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's very nice on the inside. Staff were very pleasant. Food was very good. Drink menu is about as extensive as you want. Prices are reasonable. Do get a reservation. It closes a little earlier than some other places around.

We had a great visit here after discovering this restaurant on tripadvisor. What was particularly good is that the vast majority of the menu either was or could be made gluten free! The staff were attentive, and the food was delicious. It was so good we ended up going again 2 nights later!

Absolutely Superb Food and An Amazing Team. Woohoo how refreshing to visit a restaurant where the Staff were Fantastic and the food was delicious .I was made very welcome and they really tried hard the service was brilliant. The food is of a very high standard and super tasty. I had the Halloumi Fries and the Sweet Potato Falafel which were presented immaculately and tasted superb,then the Strawberry Pavlova that was crisp on the outside and oh my word so gorgeous and chewy in the middle served with a Strawberry compote . Keep up the Fantastic Work and Your Superstar Team are a massive asset to you. See you next time!

A panicked Google after realising our hotel food was dreadful brought us here by chance. The food and staff were so wonderful that we went two evenings in a row. I have a son who is an extremely fussy eater and he was delighted with his chicken and chips. The first night I had a vegan poke bowl and my partner had the cajun chicken and veg skewers. Both were absolutely lovely, presented beautifully we agreed we'd have them again. The second night was the same, I had the chorizo and red pepper chicken and sweet potato fries, my partner had the most melt I your mouth sirloin steak, gorgeous hot chicken wings and we both had cocktails and deserts too. The food alone would make you come back. However what struck us was the atmosphere and attitude of the staff. How friendly and accommodating they were with our buggy, the specifics on some foods (again, my son being a fussy eater) and coming to check in on us even though they were busy. We were even greeted at the door the second night by a staff member with a hello your back again, lovely to see you. And separately, the manager asked us if we would like the same drinks order as the night before. Little touches like that are hard to find and showed us how truly great the staff here are. The place the second night in particular was quite busy but watching the staff move about you could easily see how coordinated and together they were. The place itself is spacious and comfy, there's a lovely cosy waiting area, a beautiful big window letting lots of light in and tables to cater big groups throughout the restaurant. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

We had a lovely lunch here today very friendly good service .We shared a small plate of teriyaki chicken £6 as a starter and it was delicious. Both of us then had the lunch special of the prawn Thai red curry £10 again delicious. We had a lemon posset and a pecan pie for dessert they were very small portions costing 6.50 not as good as the other courses .Overall a nice experience and we'll be back .

Went there for dinner one evening and surprisingly, the food was very good. I have never tasted such crispy and battered Haddock and it was not oily at all. My partner had the chicken in Chorizo sauce which was equally delicious. Worth a visit and totally recommended.

What a great find! As a coeliac, it’s always a bit nerve-wracking eating out but the menu was clearly marked, and the staff were very knowledgeable. Chips done in a separate fryer (coeliac heaven!). And the food was absolutely delicious.

Did not get into the Crown as expected but hit upon this and had dinner and drinks. Food and service first class. Staff could not have been better, especially Ryan.

My wife and I ate here recently, the food was beautiful, we just had mains, my wife had the battered haddock and I had the rump of lamb, both were exceptional. We then had desert, all of which looked homemade and was very tasty. Service was also amazing, everything was prompt and friendly. Would definitely visit again.

Excellent family meal as part of a short break holiday to Belfast. We visited with our two teenagers and the menu, although not extensive, suited everyone as we all have varied tastes. The food was really good, nicely cooked and enjoyable, well priced and decent portions. We visited on a Friday evening and the restaurant was obviously popular and had a buzz about it. The waiting staff were helpful and friendly and service was really good despite the place being busy. Would definitely visit again if we return to Belfast.

Such a lovely spot, great atmosphere and delicious, extensive menu. Staff are beyond lovely, so accommodating for allergies and just made the experience incredible. Would really recommend ;) Side note: Cocktails are unreal!

Myself and my partner dinned in Actons over the weekend and we'd a lovely meal, the food was great and the place had a nice chilled vibe. The only issue we had was that one of our drinks orders was forgotten about, however once we flagged it with the manager she made sure they were delivered straight away and as an apology removed the drinks from the bill, which was extremely generous and such a lovely gesture. We will definitely be back!

Decided to book it due to great reviews we've heard but unfortunately it wasn't our case. The food was just ok and the desserts weren't as expect neither. The waitress we had was extremely rude at the end. Won't rush to be back.

Was in for a meal with my friend lovely food highly recommended. But at the end of our night felt sorry for a table celebrating a friends birthday as they tried to ask a waiter for a photo the waiter was happily taking the shot as they lined up the waitress came up and told the waiter of and refused to let him take the photo felt so embarrassed for him and the group as it was only us and that table left in the restaurant.

This place was recommended by our concierge, the food was really very good, although there is not a large choice was we have was very tasty. the service was equally as good attentive but not over powering. Will go again when next in Belfast

This restaurant was well prepared for the current pandemic. This put our mind at rest during our visit. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. The food was fantastic. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and return here in the future.

De inmediato nos atendieron con nuestro camarero personal que no podría haber sido mejor. El servicio fue excelente en todo momento como lo había sido antes cuando estuvimos aquí para el cumpleaños de mi hijo.La variedad del menú era excelente ya que nuestro otro hijo era vegano. Como un grupo de nueve, pedimos una variedad de opciones y, sin falta, la comida de todos se sirvió a la perfección. Bien, qué puedo decir. Pasé por este lugar varias veces y el miércoles por la noche decidí reservar una mesa para el programa de comer fuera, asistimos mis 4 hijas y yo, nos sentamos muy rápido, por supuesto que habíamos reservado y una había llegado antes que nosotros. Los pedidos de bebidas se tomaron antes de que llegara nuestro conductor designado después de estacionar el automóvil. Se perdió la orden de bebidas original, pero la camarera vino y le preguntó si deseaba una bebida. Iba a pedir un refresco pero la mesera la vio mirando a sus hermanas Strawberry Daquiari y le preguntó si deseaba uno sin alcohol, para alegría de mi hija mayor que conducía ella estuvo de acuerdo y eso hizo sonreír a todos, incluido el camarera jajaja. La comida fue rápida y excelente. . . la lubina fue absolutamente encantadora. El único defecto que no fue la camarera o el personal fue que los mejillones se agotaron por la decepción de una de mis hijas, pero la camarera sugirió cigalas que no estaban en el menú y como este era uno de sus platos favoritos, estaba sonriendo. Cuando vinieron, estaban encantadores y la masa tan ligera (robé algunas en la mesa mientras comía). .Se pidió postre y se recomienda encarecidamente el posset de limón. Mi hija (que se perdió los mejillones) ordenó a Sorbet que le dijeran que estaban fuera de uno de los sabores para su decepción. ¡Qué mala suerte podía tener un niño pidiendo comida! ! Sin embargo, la camarera vino con los postres y le dijo a mi hija que se había asegurado de agregar una porción extra de sorbete debido a que se había perdido el sorbete de mango y maracuyá y los mejillones. Esto complació enormemente a mi hija adolescente de 18 años.En general, una comida encantadora para todos y el ambiente encantador tampoco nos apuraron de la mesa y pasamos una agradable velada. Volveremos a este establecimiento.

Situado al lado de nuestro hotel fuimos aquí el sábado pasado por la noche. No tenía una mesa reservada pero amablemente nos acomodaron temprano durante 1 hora.El servicio fue muy amable, el menú era bastante limitado pero la comida era excelente. Cervezas de barril limitadas disponibles pero buena carta de vinos. Sin duda lo intentaré de nuevo. . . . . . pero reservaré la próxima vez para no tener prisa.Definitivamente lo recomendaría.

We found our meal to be extremely forgettable and bland at far too high a price for the quality served. Given no reason to return.

Great service, quick and polite, even when they were very busy. We were shown straight to the table that we reserved without delay. Very quick taking our orders, very quick to be served drinks, starters, mains and deserts. Been a few times now and would go back again. Lively atmosphere and nice setting. Recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of trout, potatoes, bacon and peas. It was perfectly cooked. Dear daughter loved the spinach and chickpea curry. Highly recommended. A little hard to find, but definitely a great value for an excellent meal. Service was friendly and right there when you need them. Hubby says it’s his favorite meal since we’ve been in Ireland.

The starter wasn't worthy for the price we paid, the main (Fish and chips) was ok, but the dessert was quite expensive for it's quality. The service was very slow.

My wife and two sons visited this restaurant for the first time. The staff were very friendly from when we went in until we left. The service was fast and we started with a round of drinks. We then ordered an assortment of breads with tapenades and humus, very tasty. The lamb for mains was cooked perfectly and good election of vegetables. We were too full for a desert. We enjoyed the experience so returned with a bigger party of family on New Years Eve and were not disappointed. We will return again

Yet again another beautiful lunch in this restaurant, mushroom and chicken soup and it was to die for with chicken Ceaser salad in ciabatta with a side of fries, add a lovely bottle of wine. To finish something a little extra, coffee and sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie absolutely delicious.

We used to dine here often but since around 2018 the service/standard of food has gone down considerably.

Just been to Actons for new years eve dinner, it was buzzing, with no free tables, thank goodness we booked! Starters were Lebanese squid and chorizo in honey, mains were steak and the pork. Finishing it off with the raspberry ruffle cocktail and the pecan pie. Service was second to none and it just finished the night off perfect, a lovely accustic set, such a lovely atmosphere, will be back

Tried this place again after running out of ideas on where to eat on New Year's Eve. Severely disappointed in the service and standard of food. Children's meals unsuitable for small children and waiters uninterested. Disappointed as this place used to be one of my favourites in Belfast.

Ate here with our friends last night and had such a lovely meal I felt I had to leave a review. The staff from the doorman to all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Thanks especially to Leanne for her excellent service.

Booked here a few months ago for our dinner was so impressed with everything place food friendliness of the staff especially Neil couldn't do enough for us will definitely be back so handy aswell to the opera house as we had been to the panto which was excellent hope to see you soon again. Love this restaurant . Second time here and will be back next time we are in Belfast. Called in after a visit to Christmas Market to see if we could book a table for later that evening. We were welcomed by doorman, bar staff and the lovely Manager who booked us in. Service was quick and friendly and staff knowledgeable on the extensive menu. We had three courses and were highly impressed with both taste and presentation of our choices. The ambience in the restaurant is perfect.The menu is reasonably priced with lots of choice. Will see you again soon.

The booking process was easy to use and the staff very helpful.

Arrived for a booked table to be seated fast but was met with an unwelcoming attitude. Food arrived within good time. Food was nice but nothing special. Server was pleasant. Waited what felt like a very long time to get our plates collected by the same woman who seated us. Asked for menus to order dessert which never made it to our table! No idea why as it was not busy and staff were talking back and forth. We finally give up and left. When asked when paying the bill was everything ok, we did voice our disappointment with little response. Will not be returning.

Visited with friends at the weekend for a special occasion - first time but will definitely be back! The service was great, one waitress in particular was excellent (small long black ponytail hair) her knowledge and understanding on food allergies was excellent.

Turned up without a booking on a wet Friday night but thankfully the maître d' managed to find us a table after a short wait.

We had so much amazing food while in Northern Ireland but none topped the meal at Afton and Sons. They have a bangers and mash dish that is one of a kind and all vegan!! Wow!!

Visited with colleagues and chose the grilled halloumi drizzled in honey to start, which was great. Had the vegetarian burger for the main course, which was fine, but nothing special. There was live music until 9am, which was quite nice.

We visited the restaurant on 02/11 having pre-booked a table. Out daughter is coeliac and they immediately took some time to explain to her what she could have out of the children menu.

We were a group of friends getting together for a meal and some drinks.

Came here on the recommendation of a local passerby, and we weren’t disappointed. The food was excellent, the wines were great and the live music was sublime. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants a reasonable priced meal and a great chilled evening. Given that it was Thursday evening, the place was full which is always a good sign.

Visited on Saturday evening and had a great experience with my family. We all had starters and a main each and agreed it was the best meal we'd had in some time! I had the chicken and chorizo main, my mum had the pork and my partner had smoked haddock and all of us were very happy with our choices. The drinks were very tasty too, and our server offered mum an extra gin for free, as it had been poured by accident and would have gone to waste, which was a lovely gesture!

Op zaterdagavond op de bonnefooi een restaurant binnenlopen om een hapje te eten was niet eenvoudig... Gelukkig konden we bij Actons terecht. Ook hier was het superdruk, maar werd alles op alles gezet om het iedereen naar de zin te maken. Zeer vriendelijk en kundig personeel. Fijne, ongedwongen sfeer en bovenal heerlijk eten! Mijn man had een waanzinnig mals stuk steak (Irish sirloin) en ik had op aanraden van de bediening een heerlijk kipgerecht. Ook de gerechten vooraf en als dessert waren om te smullen. Echt een aanrader als je in Belfast bent.

Visiting Belfast and was recommended to try this place. Can’t find anything not to like about this place “Food exceptionally Good, Staff very courteous and nothing was to much trouble all went out of way to make it an enjoyable visit.

I have eaten here a few times over the past year and never had a bad meal. I usually go for the Ribs which are great value and tasty. On this occasion I had the Dufrey Steak. It was full of flavour and there was plenty of it.

Thes nothing not to like about this restaurant .... fantastic food, excellent service and reasonable prices all in the heart of Belfast...

Never before have I visited a restaurant with such a variety of GF and adaptable dishes, I felt spoiled for choice!

I have visited here many times in the past and brought a friend for dinner. the food was tasteless and the service overly intrusive which wouldn't have been so irritating if the food had been better. very disappointed as this is a restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and love the different levels of seating. Only upside was the vegan chocolate tart which was very good but did not make up for everything else. I'm afraid I will not be going back as I feel this restaurant has been going downhill for a while.

Good place to get a great dinner, place was busy so made a reservation for later in the evening. Back after a pint in the Crown Bar ( close by ) and made welcome, had the chicken pate followed by a Duffys steak, very good. You might walk past it from its exterior appearance, but worth going in.

Three of us had an early lunch here in a central Belfast area. We had a well lit booth (good for old eyes) at the back as we were some of the first clients in the restaurant. It got quite busy in the next hour. Our food was well presented, good, and the wine list adequate for red and white wine drinkers. An enjoyable lunch with family.

This is the first time I have been in this restaurant and it will NOT be the last! It is kinda off the beaten path but a definite hidden gem and I did not know it was there until a friend recommended it. The staff are unbelievably helpful and so friendly. If you get the lassie staff member Alexandra you are in for a treat... she really makes the whole experience in her service and friendliness a delight to dine there. The food was gorgeous... for starters we had basket of bread [onion bread is brill] with sizzling Portavogie prawns with chilli, chorizo and garlic...the prawns come with bread too!!! beautiful... For the main meal, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS, we had the Duffy 3 week aged sirloin steak which comes with the choose of sauce and side-order... I choose the Blue cheese sauce which was awesome but the steak!!! WOW! just melted in your mouth and what flavour...excellent :-) We rounded it all with a Knickerbocker Glory desert which was surprisingly light despite the amount..really really nice... also I noticed outside an attractive area where you can sit, have a drink and watch the world go by [I guess good for any smokers out there too] and have to say it is really pleasant in apperance... all in all a brilliant experience and a must go to restaurant... I visited this restaurant for lunch a year ago and made a beeline for it again, as I had enjoyed my steak previously and was in the mood for the same again! This time I was with two friends and we each enjoyed our meal. My steak was perfectly cooked and another diner had a delicious salmon salad, and the third diner had chicken kiev. Maybe there could have been a bit more garlic butter in the chicken (it's always nice when it oozes out), but everything was well cooked and tasty and the service was very friendly indeed. It's not a fancy place to eat but you'll get a good meal here at a reasonable price.

Nicest restaurant I've been to in a while! Went twice whilst visiting Belfast as i stayed just opposite at the Maldron Hotel. Drinks arrivee quickly and the food was outstanding - had the halloumi fries to start which were to die for! They were done in honey and chilli i think and they were so tasty and for main, both times, I had the Duck with Dauphinose potatoes and a red wine jus. Duck was cooked perfectly to order and everything about the meal was delicious. Our waitress was also lovely, (petite, pixie-hair) making sure everything was okay. Even on Saturday when it was busy and we hadn't booked, they managed to squeeze us in! Will definitely return when i come back to Belfast!

Tal vez no sea el mejor lugar para la carne por mi marido. Sundaes para el postre eran excelentes. Lo recomendaría encarecidamente, me alegro de haberlo hecho. Intentaremos visitarlo nuevamente antes de irnos.

Mi novio y yo nos quedamos en Belfast el sábado por la noche. Hombre típico que no reservaba para cenar. Telefoneamos a Acton & Sons a las 5: 30 o del sábado por la noche y nos pudieron exprimir a las 7: 30, lo cual agradecimos mucho. Era un paseo de 30 segundos desde nuestro hotel, que era muy conveniente. Muy céntrica ubicación. Llegamos para ser recibidos por un hombre que abría la puerta a los clientes, hermoso gesto. Nos sentamos y todo el personal era muy atento. Habíamos pedido nuestra comida y tuvimos nuestra primera ronda de bebidas servidas a los 5 minutos de estar sentados, lo que creo que es genial. Tuve una serie de cócteles que estaban fuera de este mundo. Nuestra comida fue servida rápidamente y fue cocinada a la perfección, comida increíble. ¡Sin mencionar los postres, para morirse! En general, tuvimos una gran experiencia aquí y sin duda volveremos! 100% Recomienda.

Visited here last week for the first time with friends for lunch . Nice place.... not amazing but nice . Food was good and we all enjoyed it . I would come back .. strange looking decor on the outside but really there’s nothing exciting that I can say about it ... and on the other hand nothing bad to say either .

I used to eat weekly in Acton’s (when they still had a Son), and remember writing that I had never had a bad meal there. My circumstances changed, and it’s probably been a year since I last visited. I found myself in that neck of the woods today, and decided to treat myself.

Amazing staff, amazing food, brilliant company.. drinks where delicious. would 100% recommend.. Neill & Ryan's service was 100% couldn't fault anything.. enjoyed everything about it.

Good food a lovely staff and a pleasant setting. We had a fish dish and a vegetarian meal. Both were delicious. Reasonably priced too. We will be back.

Great venue, don’t be put off by the appearance from the outside, this is a great restaurant with excellent food and staff. Jerked chicken and flat iron steak recommended. 😁
