delicious food, great service and good lunchtime pricing!

Our experience at Oli and Joe’s Whickham greatly exceeded our expectations. We were a party of 10, having booked lunch following a funeral, and the servers looking after us were amazing. Their friendly, efficient service made us feel very welcome, which is particularly commendable given the circumstances and the size of our group. The food was top quality, with even one of our Italian party members praising its authenticity and taste. This is no small feat and speaks volumes about the culinary expertise at Oli and Joe’s. Given that Whickham is blessed with independent food retailers that I much prefer over supermarkets, combining a lunch at Oli and Joe’s with some shopping makes for a perfect outing. This restaurant not only offers great value for money but also delivers a dining experience worthy of more than 5 stars, if it were possible. Highly recommended!

Was overcharged on the bill but was rectified.

Small place on the main street with a friendly and capable lass at front of house. The food was all prepped quickly and was all fine. Parking is a pain here but that's the greedy idiotic councils fault and not the local businesses. Food was reasonably priced and everything was ok. Nothing was amazing but just fine. Would come back for the 9 quid 3 course special of wanted a sit down nosh.

Been a while since I visited the restaurant, nobody in apart from a few people including ourselves. Presentation was dim, food cold only the gravy was hot. Don't complain as felt sorry for the staff. Won't return.

Went for Mother's Day, we were a large party of 15. The service was great, staff are friendly and helpful. I had the seabass, mussels and prawns in a creamy sauce, it was exceptional.

Good food at a good price. Only fault was that it was a bit cold in the restaurant. Staff were friendly. Three course meal deal optiins haven't changed for years.

We got the Dinner time £8.95 menu for 3 courses. My biggest complaint was that the soup was luke warm. Didn't send it back because other people had other things. Main was ok, small for a man but enough for me and coffee to finish. Not the most tasty or wonderful meal I have had but service was good and friendly.

Great christmas lunch, both for quality and value.

We were there on Sunday, 26th November, for a baby shower, I ordered a 3 course Sunday Roast, and it was nice and at a good price, we had a lovely afternoon.. Thank you

Incredible value for money - 2 courses + ice cream or coffee lunch for £8.95!! I had potatoe skins and penne Alforno. Both delicious and decent sized portions. My father is a regular here and I understand why!!

Hired the upstairs room for a family get together, family from Whickham, Scotland, Spain and America, had a memorable night, helped by the friendly staff, especially the waiter originally from Albania via Corfu, food was very nice and served on time, for a 14 seat cover, well done guys you made our night memorable.

Sunday lunch delivered absolutely lovely

Lovely food especially the fish pasta, really reasonable price and our waitress Lindsey was absolutely lovely, nothing was too much bother for her :-)

Dinner disgusting watery turnip cabbage half cooked yorkishire pudding burned blacka half of a roast potato 3 bits of carrots a spoonful of peas chicken was okay but the rest was binned. They were kids dinners but they didn't taste nice.

I ordered 3x Arrabiata and a garlic bread with cheese to take away….. the menu said it was happy hour. However, I was charged almost 25% more to take our food away as ‘happy hour’ doesn’t apply to take out! Unbelievable to think it costs less to use your facilities and your staff’s time than to eat in my own home. Needless to say I will not be ordering from here again, an absolutely joke for mediocre pasta.

Really lovely, local Italian. Just what you need, great food, great wine selection and the staff are attentive and very friendly, nothing is a bother for them. Highly recommended this restaurant for any occasion!

Cheap as chips, lovely staff, food OK for price.

Pizza was nice and very tasty, but the atmosphere in the restaurant was awful. It felt like a cheap cafe with plastic tablecloths and a poor table layout also made it feel like it was closing down. As I said food was nice and couldn't find a fault with that, but unfortunately we probably won't return

Absolute joke. Service was appalling, really unwelcoming, garlic bread with cheese had no cheese on, main course with prawns and smoked salmon had no prawns, and no smoked salmon.......and the carbonara was like soup. Due to the blunt nature of the girl serving us, and the young lad on the bar who just stared at us, I couldn't be bothered to complain in person as it felt like they were not bothered. I did mention the main course was wrong, and they took £2 off the bill, which is laughable, and not something I'd usually let go, but to be honest we just wanted to get out of the place. It's a shame because other Oli and Joe's are usually good value

Prawn cocktail was fantastic as was the cheesecake. However I ordered a salmon salad but unfortunately they'd ran out of salmon. So I had a mushroom risotto instead which had a green hue. Wasn't appealing to look at or to eat. But the service was good and my starter and pudding were also.

Very nice Italian restaurant popped in before going to a gig nice pizza reasonably priced would definitely go again. Parking is a nightmare but that's nothing to do with the restaurant.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at this popular Whickham restaurant. Service was quick and friendly. It proved a good choice for pizza and pasta in a relaxed setting.

Excellent friendly service , excellent food , very reasonable prices.

The food was nice and of a reasonable price. Unfortunately the service is not great. The food was prompt, however the staff preferred to chat amongst themselves rather that tend to diners. We were only asked about drinks once prior to ordering food. Not once throughout the rest of the meal did a member of staff ask if we needed more drinks.

I had my first visit to the Restaurant yesterday evening after work. Very enjoyable experience. Delicious food at very reasonable prices and a good atmosphere. The restaurant wasn't overy busy so service was very prompt and friendly, with Staff conscientious and attentive. I had a garlic Bread starter plus Pasta (Spaghetti Arriabatta). Very satisfying.

Lovely meal out with the family served by very pleasant and friendly staff. It was great to have a night out again after so many months being stuck at home. Food was very good and we enjoyed our visit. Highly recommended.

Ordered 3 meals and a garlic breads. 2 meals were tasteless with no flavour with the chilli’s missing from the Arriabiatta and the bacon missing from the carbonara. The garlic bread and the box came soaking with oil/grease and had come though the bottom!!! Only the kids Bolognese survived the bin. Shocking

Ordered at 4.30pm after a really heavy snowfall, asked if my order could be delivered at 8pm but acknowledged the weather & said any time around then would be fine. At 8pm my order was delivered bang on time, & was absolutely delicious. Kudos to the staff at Oli & Joe’s Whickham, spot on & thank you !

The COVID restrictions slightly dimmed the experience but that is not their fault. The food was good and the service prompt. With friends seated on an adjacent table conversation had to be at a louder volume than usual! So, the background music needs to be taken down a peg. But overall no problems and an enjoyable meal out.

First visit on a eat out to help out scheme. Nice atmosphere, plenty space, pleasent staff, lovely food. Slight confusion over my seafood pasta order which was rectified in minutes. A really enjoyable dining experience, hence I would have no hesitation returning here for another meal.

Took my Sis for a meal today, other than an initial issue with my booking which was dealt with promptly I have no complaints. Food was amazing and staff were superb. You would never have thought this was a cheap meal out! Absolutely stuffed, this Calzone is HUGE!!!
