Good food especially truffle sandwich. Cakes are ok too. Coffee unfortunately is dish water level. The americano is not drinkable and despite multiple requests the latte was not "extra hot" but barely hot. This branch is a busy branch and every time we go in we have to clean the tables ourselves. Just not enough staff or they are busy elsewhere

I visited this morning before going home. I had a cappuccino and sausage roll. Coffee was very smooth and the sausage roll was very nice.

Bezoek aan Ole&Steen was zeer teleurstellend. Zowel buiten als vooral binnen was alles vuil en slordig. Een klant ruimde zelf tafels af. Het personeel keek ongeïnteresseerd de andere kant op en deed niets alhoewel het toen niet druk was. Koffie is ok maar de totaal-ervaring is negatief.

Hampstead branch is shockingly rubbish. Coffee might be nice but service is appalling. 4 members of staff standing around, so vacant. Input and pay for order and then ….. nothing happens ….. I mean what did they think I might’ve waiting for?

I was somewhat disappointed in this bakery come cafe. It really didn't have a point of difference, except perhaps for it's bread. It basically offered the usual cafe options. We found the background music a little too loud and had to ask for the tables to be cleaned before choosing seating as far from the overhead speakers as possible. Difficult when all areas were exposed to the speakers. It was a little too chilly to sit on the sidewalk so we made do. Had we not pre-selected this as a meeting point, we would have left before placing coffee orders. We did in fact move to another nearby venue once everyone arrived and we wanted to order lunch. Perhaps the bread is exceptional should you need to grab a loaf before heading home.

Not as good as they think they are. The service was good , friendly and welcoming but the actual product was disappointing. The pastry (I had a Cinnamon Social) was dry and the coffee was bitter.

A guy working at the cashier suddenly started questioning the type of calories I was consuming after I ordered a large oat latte and a chocolate cake. After asking if I had lunch, he suggested that I “try their salads or sandwiches” after I said I hadn’t had lunch yet.

I ordered a cheese toastie this morning, via Deliveroo. What I received bore no resemblance whatsoever to the toastie photographed in the order pages and in other reviewers’ photos (or indeed to the toasties I have eaten with them on other occasions). It was tiny (did they forget to put the second half inside the bag?). It was thin and dry. It had no cheese to speak of (the yellow you see in the photo is a bit of mustard). It was even cold, having been packed with no insulation in a thin paper bag which was open (not great for travelling across London in the January weather). The larger bag it arrived in was also open. Not even secured with a staple. This was a terrible snack to serve anyone, at any price. At £8.95 it is shameful.

Some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced in London. As for the food - tasty but overpriced.

The coffee was really delicious. Although we didn’t eat there the cakes and savouries looked delicious. The counter service was friendly and efficient. Only complaint is that the toilets were out of action so there was one toilet for two floors and it was not kept clean or stocked with toilet paper

Staying in London, didn’t book breakfast in the hotel, but found this great little coffee shop/ cafe for brunch and I wasn’t disappointed, great range of freshly prepared food, jubilee weekend so I had to have a special jubilee cake! The sandwich was big, big enough to share.

Wonderful sandwiches and danish, horrible coffee (not even sure whether if it was coffee at all...).

*Visited September 2021* Ole & Steen is the UK offshoot of the Lagkagehuset chain of Danish bakeries which we have been familiar with for a number of years. We paid a visit to the branch in Fitzrovia and as there was a vast array of tempting sweet and savoury treats on display. It was busy when we visited on a Saturday afternoon but we managed to find a table. We both decided on one of the cakes on display, they were so good that we went for second helpings. A great chain of bakeries and even better that they are in UK.

Not worth a visit and parting with hard earned cash. Rude staff that do not reply when asking a simple question. It appears staff are mute. Supervisor looked blank when I asked for product advise. No sell-up opportunity. Pointed to next counter for coffee. Had to wait and ask for it as it was sitting on coffee machine. Tasted awful and whole lack of experience left a bad taste in more ways than one. Shocking place.

Pastries and bread are lovely, but both the coffee and mochas had a strange, disappointing taste. I had ordered decaf mocha, and when I asked the barista if it actually was decaf, he rolled his eyes and grunted before pouring away what he had wrongly prepared. Overpriced and underwhelming.

I went there yesterday morning (Monday) and a gentleman was there who was very nice and helpful. Went back this morning and it was the complete opposite. I walk with a stick and on Monday the gentleman took my food and coffee to my table. This time I was told they don't do that, regardless of my mobility problem. Also, they initially overcharged me £5.00 and if I hadn't noticed, they wouldn't have said anything. When I asked to speak to the manager, they told me they didn't know when he would be there. I live in the area. There are nicer people working at other nearby cafes.

I personally find the cakes in here delicious but a bit too sweet and so I can never eat a whole one. But I've been buying the chia rye bread here every week ever since they opened and really love it. However their bread slicer is often broken and takes a while to get fixed. They used to have really pleasant staff in there but when I went in on Saturday and asked (as I always have done in the past when their slicer is broken) if as they couldn't slice the whole loaf they would slice me two slices by hand so I could eat them on my walk home two new staff members were shockingly unhelpful. The person I asked called over another staff member who flatly refused and made me feel as if I had for the most outrageous favour. When you're paying almost £5 for a loaf of bread and they were not busy I really don't think this was too much to ask. She said she could cut my loaf in half because they sell half loaves. But for some reason it was too much trouble to cut one or two slices off the end of the loaf to help a hungry customer! Really not impressed at all by such an inflexible unhelpful attitude. That is not how to retain customers. So reduced from four stars to two because of the disappointingly unhelpful unpleasant new staff.

All I wanted was a cup of tea and a chocolate muffin…. service was slow, chaotic and surly. So many staff yet not much action. Received milk for my tea with crumbs floating in it. When I politely asked for it to be changed, the response was defensive, verging on aggressive. Not the experience that I’ve come to expect from Ole + Steen over the years.
