Olde House Restaurant in Chesterfield

Went for a family lunch and was served by Sarah who was friendly and helpful at all times. The whole experience was improved by a happy and experienced member of staff who could not have been more relaxed and professional.

Had a lovely lunch served by the lovely Sarah always welcoming and very efficient she's a credit to the team, can't fault our visit today.

We are a large group of friends (10 of us) We were served by Chris , a charming and very efficient young man. We all paid for our meals individually and he was so patient and helpful. He is a great asset to your company, hang onto him, a lovely young man and it was also his first day, he did so well.

Stay was pretty good overall. + Good sized room and large bed. + friendly and helpful staff (on our visit we needed to stay an extra night and a staff member organised things so we could keep our room), team at breakfast was also fab. + Good location near the peak and serves dinner till late in pub. - pretty warm in the room. - some really bad and very loud water hammer when people were showering in the morning (probably not getting a long sleep without earplugs) - when we booked the extra night directly, it cost £120 which was more than we paid on booking any seemed expensive, especially when breakfast is extra.

Singles night for old gits like me I enjoyed the evening and will do it again. Edited 6/4/24 to say wasn't as busy last night but still had a laugh with friends

We were here staying at the hotel and chose to eat in the restaurant. The service was very good and the food was excellent and quick. The room was very nice and clean. The bed was nice and big and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again

Ordered steak meal was disgusting, warmed up, not fresh soggy tomatoe plonked on the top, also Sunday dinner again all warmed so disappointed I suppose that's why this place was empty 😑

We were extremely pleased with the way that the staff dealt both sensitively and competently with our request to organise and book a memorial celebration for the life of our mum. We discussed and agreed a plan for the day also our buffet requirements. When we arrived, we were a little surprised to find that there were still people eating within the space that we had agreed for the buffet to be set up. The buffet table was set in the small room we had origionally booked. However the manager did offer us the option of another room, but as time was running out, we decided to stay where we were. The issue was subsequently and effectively resolved by the staff. The room was perfect for our small gathering once the additional tables had been removed. The food was good and adequate portions. A nice touch that additional chips would be supplied free of charge if required.

Just a great venue, loads of pluses, parking, food available all the time, great selection of drinks and a hotel into the bargain

Nice place clean and bright. Lots of seating choices. Good selection of food.friendly staff.also has a function suite. Great parking and a large outdoor space with seating when weather is good. Even has a pool table for a chilled evening would recommend.

Came to The Olde House for some lunch. We had Lasagne and Cumberland Sausage which were both hot and tasty, being served with a minimal wait . Sarah our table waitress is always nice and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you.

Our daughter bought us a buy a gift voucher which we used to stay at the Olde House. On reading the reviews about the restaurant. We were sceptical.. we decided to try the first evening and it was a nice pub grub meal, we decided to also try the breakfast and again it was lovely well cooked and appeared locally sourced meat. It was that good we had both breakfast and dinner on both days of our 2 night stay. The rooms were clean and adequate and a thank you to Kay who served the breakfast and did housekeeping for the room, we would recommend to any of our friends who wanted to stay in the area the staff were pleasant and polite and the manager was really friendly thank you for our lovely stay.

Fast service food was piping hot staff very pleasant will come again thanks to julie and her staff for making it all nice . xx

I booked a table online for myself, my Husband and my Mother in law for Mother's day. When we arrived we were not on the list so we got shown to a table at the other end of the pub in a dark corner and there was no apology. When the food arrived it was luke warm and not very well presented and we didn't even get asked if everything was OK. I have been to this pub many times and this has got to be the worst not happy ☹️

Out for tea with hubby. Had a really nice meal. The breaded mushrooms to start were great. The mains Thai curry with veg and extra chicken was well cooked and tasted lovely. The scampi was lovely too. The pudding was gorgeous. Staff were friendly, helpful...

Great service, very friendly staff very quick and efficient service would definitely recommend.

I don’t like moaning or leaving a bad review, but honestly that was the worst Sunday dinner I’ve ever had. The carrots and broccoli were rock hard and freezing cold, the beef was tough, the roast potatoes were anaemic, and the gravy was like water. Probably the only half decent thing was the yorkshire pudding. The service was pretty poor, some of the staff looked like they didn’t want to there, and the manager was rude and needs cheering up. It was warmer outside than it were inside, it was just as cold as the dinner. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

When we got there we were told 1 hour wait for food and we thought ok no probs ordered at 7. We had to ask about out food at 8 20 and was told it would be 10 to 15 mins...it arrived at 8.35... The food was spot on...but don't say its 1 hour wait when it's not... Even the waitress collected the sauces of our table that we had asked for, and we'd not even had our meal...

I booked for 4 adults and one child under 10. I am disabled and forgot to mention I couldn't do stairs but the young lady waitress was brilliant and sorted us a different table immediately. We ordered from the app and again she was prmpt with the service. The food was plentiful, well cooked and hot. We will definitely come again.

Ordered turkey and paid later to be told they’d run out , reordered beef but kitchen not informed of change of order so eight of our party were served and two meals short with no explanation. Gravy was served to us without thickening so was returned to kitchen for thickening, ie bistro added. The actual meal I would rate 8 out of 10 but unfortunately the customer service was sadly lacking

Food was lovely. Both had burgers which were bought out at the same time, didn’t have to wait long. Georgie was pleasant and smiley. Clean and tidy.

Great food, fantastic customer service. Originally ordered a Sunday Roast but there were no more left unfortunately however the waitress (Georgie) was very helpful in resolving my issue with the order and helped me choose something else to order instead which I didn’t regret as the portion size of the Fish and Chips that I got instead made up for the lack of Sunday roast. Fab stuff. Well done

Lovely place to stay with on site entertainment during our stay. Our room was spacious super comfortable and clean. Bathroom well equipped with complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order... Nice scrambled eggs Chef! Thank you for making our stay extra special too Shell.

Staying for a couple of days having read previous reviews. Great choice of food. Steak was cooked to perfection, well looked after by Georgie.

Very busy ,staff doing their best to look after all the customers ( extra busy as a funeral party were in too) . Staff were very pleasant & we didn't have to wait too long for our lunch. Food was good pub grub & would recommend going for reasonably priced meal .

Lovely warm clean room with hot water and a fabulous shower. Comfortable bed. The staff are excellent and you can tell they enjoy their jobs. The food is excellent. No complaints 100% positive.

Really pleasant service. Excellent food. Mixed grills were cooked perfectly. Pie had good pastry which you don't always get in pubs so this was a nice surprise. Steak cooked just as I asked. Can't fault anything.

Fair room, good value for the price. Room and bed were both large and room was warm. Both room and bathroom were a bit tired - some bits of mould in the bathroom and decor in the room not 100%. Also quite noisy on a front-facing room as there was a function kicking out. All in all though a decent enough night for just over £40.

First time visiting, friendly staff, good food, average price range, will be back.

The staff was polite and the service was quick, the only problems was my partner’s steak was very chewy and grissly and mine was mixed grill supposed to be medium and it was well done partially burnt, one egg wasn’t cooked properly as well. The sausage was nearly cremated as well.They covered the burnt steak with the eggs and a member of staff never came around to see if everything was okay.

The place was clean with a welcoming atmosphere. We were served by Sarah who could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Would gladly return.

Pub grub at lunch. Had the fish n chips,scampi n chips, gammon and a kids meal. Everything was crisp and tasty and served promptly. Puddings good too. Our waitress Sarah was absolutely brilliant, patiently took our order and even took time to sort crayons for our young one. It's not a gastro pub, but if you want tasty food at fair price at lunchtime it's hard to fault.

We had the Thai curry, my partner the vegetarian version and I had chicken added to mine. The curry was flavoursome, pleasantly spicy, without being too hot. Really delicious!
