Old Wyrley Hall in Walsall

Booked here because we attended a previous funeral the room & food really nice , different story today for my mother’s funeral . We were all packed in to the smallest room you could breath a lot of us stayed outside . The buffet disgusting for what we paid not enough to feed the amount of people we paid per head . I won’t be booking in future and family & friends agreed . Shocking comes to mind .

Very welcoming bar area and great choice of drinks very reasonable prices Shown into main dining room lovely setting and were attended by lovely polite staff .Went up to serving counter and choice of roasts were fantastic.Went for beef which was cooked to perfection melted in your mouth.Veg had a bit of a bite and was plentiful and hot .If you have not experienced it you are missing out .You must try it and be surprised by the price

We have been regular visitors to the Old Wyrley Hall for their Sunday Carvery lunches for a while now. We chose this venue for my mother's 80th birthday celebration which is not the closest for our family and friends; however, the owners and waiting staff made it such a special evening. The room was immaculate with festive table decorations and laid out for ease of movement around the room. They helped with organising the disco and offered different catering options. We opted for the 'Platinum' buffet menu which was absolutely outstanding. Comments from our friends and family were extremely positive and some have mentioned that they may visit to try the carvery. Overall, this venue is excellent; fantastic food, attentive and helpful waiting staff and most of all, professional and caring owners.

We had a festive family and friends party night down Wyrley Hall and we had an amazing evening. From start to finish every thing was perfect. The staff were very attentive and all the food came to the table at the same time. It was lovely to be waited on and to be able to choose your portions of vegetables that were nice and hot from your bowls placed on your table. There was plenty of food to go round and it all tasted delicious. There was a great atmosphere as there was a singer on, who had a great sense of humour and he made sure everyone was enjoying themselves.The dance floor was packed which is always a great compliment to the entertainer and the hosts. Well done and thank you to Carl, Lynn and all the staff for a perfect night out. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year

A £5 carvery on a Wednesday night was not to be missed lol Should have booked but they squeezed me in. Nice carvery, lovely people and atmosphere, wished they did food on more nights.

Had a fantastic evening celebrating my birthday on Friday night.The place looks amazing and is very clean. The decor,furniture and new bar is modern and up to date. Theres a large selection of drinks and the prices are very reasonable. The buffet was outstanding! The presentation, quality and amount was 5 star. Everyone complimented how nice it all was even my (fussy) dad who never normally eats at parties. Nothing is to much trouble for Carl and Lynne who go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect and you have a wonderful evening. The staff are friendly, helpful and there was never a queue at the bar to be served. A great atmosphere and we will most certainly be using for any future parties or events and would highly recommend to anyone whether it be a party, function, meal or just a drink.

We had our wedding reception here yesterday and it was amazing - service was fantastic, all of our guests were commenting on the food -in particular the homemade curry!! Nothing was too much trouble for Carl and Lynn and they spent time making sure we were happy with everything! Would highly recommend for parties- also popped in today to grab our stuff and had a gorgeous carvery and pudding- once again amazing food / everything is spotless and service was brilliant!

We held our sons christening reception at olde wyrley hall and had a fantastic day, the owners let my wife dress the room how we wanted it, the buffet food was great with lots of compliments, and the bar service was fast with friendly staff. The perfect place to hold a function / party

This pub is right on our doorstep but we had never been in. A few weeks ago we popped in just for a drink on a Sunday and we were impressed with the decor and relaxed atmosphere. We have been for Sunday lunch today and what a lovely experience. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the food was lovely and the kids cleared their plates.....including adult sized desserts! When I saw the bill I was surprised, such good value.

Wow. This place is lovely. Came here for my dads 70th birthday party last night and it didn’t fail to disappoint. The room was just right for what we needed and the staff were lovely. We dealt with someone called Gemma and she was on hand the majority of the night to ensure everything was right and that my dad was happy. The owners were lovely too. We went to the Old Wyrley Hall today for a carvery after having such a lovely meal there on Mother’s Day. Both times the food was excellent! The kids plates were empty and they wanted seconds which had never happened when we’ve been anywhere else before! We would recommend there to anyone and will definitely be back!

I have had a few meals here with friends , and tonight was outstanding , compliments to the chef, I ordered a steak , cooked perfectly , as all you steak lovers know , its very disappointed when you ask for your steak cooked medium and it comes we’ll done , well this place cooked it spot on , very impressive and I’m definitely comming back , the atmosphere is lovely , Very clean and tidy , bar staff friendly,

A few weeks ago now I booked a party for my Partners 40th Birthday. From start to finish Carl and the team at Olde Wyrley Hall could not be faulted. What they have done with the place is truly fantastic. The place looks amazing and has been given a whole new lease of life. Carl was more than willing to let me in during the day to decorate the room and for the DJ to set up. On the night Carl and the team worked their socks off to ensure that everyone was happy and served promptly. The buffet was amazing and no end of people came to me on the night saying how fantastic it was. A really, really massive Thank you from Myself & Martin for an amazing night.......and one definitely to remember. I will, without a doubt be using you for ALL future events that I host. xxx

Ate here & I must say the fantastic chef Renhard came up with this dish, tandoori chicken with balti risotto & onion Bahji, accompanied with her dirty chips, being a chef myself I can highly recommend.....keep up the good work Chef 👌

We’ve not eaten here before , sadly we won’t be again. We were taken through to our table ten minutes passed & we were debating if we were just to go up & get our carvery then lady came over told us to go up if no stagers wanted!

Sunday lunch with family, the food was fantastic quality as always, a good selection of fresh vegetables,and condiments, the meat was succulent and tasty, this is proper home cooked food. The staff are always pleasant and the Management go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. The food is excellent value for money, Can't wait to try out the new menu.

I went for Sunday Carvery at Olde Wyrley Hall yesterday for the first time with my friends who have been a few times and recommended it to me. The place was lovely and very modern. It was a very busy place with everyone going in for carvery and had a great atmosphere to it. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough for anyone. They checked the tables after we had eaten and offered us deserts and teas and coffees, the food was very tasty and who doesn’t love a carvery with homemade yorkies, mash and fresh veg. I think it is an all round great place to go for food and I would like to go on another day to try some of their other food. Well done to all staff yesterday making us feel welcome even though it was extremely busy and fantastic food at a great price of £8.95. We will be back very soon.

Wednesday night carvery absolutely amazing don't know how they can do it for the money would recommend it to anyone proper home cooked food

Went here today for carvery, the place has very nice decor, when collecting our carvery the chef server smelled very strongly of cigarettes which was very off putting when you dont smoke, the carvery was very cheap but i guess you get what you pay for was all frozen products veg was soft and sloppy and just warm and meat was chewy, didnt get a table check, shame as looks a really nice place first and last for us

My son had a 21st Birthday family buffet lunch. The food was fantastic and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. At no point did we feel rushed even though it was a lunchtime booking and their next party was at 7. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be rebooking here.

Christmas Day lunch was fabulous, the staff that waited on were amazing, the food was gorgeous, it was a lovely menu to choose from, we were looked after all day, nothing was too much trouble, as always Lynne and Carl were exceptional hosts.

We hadn’t been to wyrley hall since the new owners had taken over but had heard fantastic things so decided to try it out on Wednesday. It’s definitely changed for the better and has been updated and decorated throughout. There’s a separate bar area for drinks before or after your meal and you are made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely with a choice of 3 meats plus ample veg. Plus for the price of £5 you can’t get better value! A lovely evening and we will most definitely be back.

Where do I start!!!! We attended to celebrate our parents 60th Anniversary from start to finish it was fabulous! The room was decorated for us, the food was exceptional the service & staff were also excellent. Well done & thank you so much Carl & Lynne and all of your staff superb

We had a lovely Christmas Party for 35 people, the staff couldn't do enough to please. The overall decoration of the premises is beautiful made even more the merrier with the Christmas decorations. The food was excellent, plenty to eat and generous portions great service and the management ensured we had a wonderful atmosphere allowing us to take the mike and have a sing along. It's certainly on my list of places to revisit.

The experience was good to start with and the staff waiting on were excellent and couldn’t do enough to help you , I was disgusted that when I remarked that my dinner was not what I expected the chef/ manager came out of the kitchen to shout at me , before finding out what the problem was , he shouted at me in a room full of people, those at my table couldn’t believe what was going on, and someone from the other side of the room came over to see what was happening and try to put things right , he completely ignored this person I shall not be visiting there again and I would not recommend this pub to anyone else just because of the attitude of management

Have experienced Sunday Lunch, which was excellent, so tried Wednesday evening, and was not disappointed . Very busy, but looked after very well, plenty of choice with the Carvery, good service, friendly Staff.

Came in on Wednesday with the wife and my 3 children for the carvery. We were give a warm greeting by the owners and ther staff. The food was enjoyed by the whole family and I was pleasantly surprised by how well price the food and drinks were. The kids could not stop talking about the beutiful Christmas decorations. We will definitely be coming again.

Attended presentation night food was good and hot my complaint is as I was sitting at end of table eating main meal of three courses waitress stood leaning over me clearing the table which I found unacceptable and rude

went in person to book up for 8 people.....only to be told manager not around ....took my number saying they would pone me - they did not ????. again went in the following day at lunch time to request the same........manager is busy , we are full on that date anyway. ???

40 people a mix of adults and children the service was excellent, 3 courses we all ate at the same time an achievement in itself. The food was superb very tasty and very well presented excellent value for money, would definitely recommend.

We visited here for my Dad's 60th birthday meal on a Saturday night. We had a warm welcome and friendly table service. Food and drinks were great. Home cooked chips were amazing! Family friendly, my little girl made herself at home. Good kids menu too. Thank you for making my Dad's birthday special! Would definitely recommend a visit.

I visit on a regular base and I always given a warm welcome from the landlord and landlady and their staff. I drink an array of their beer ales and spirits and I am never disappointed. I also can not fault the food.

We've had meals in the restaurant - also been to the Wednesday carvery. We thought it so good, we recently held our 50th wedding anniversary there. They catered for our party of 14, and everyone was impressed with the food , service and atmosphere.

Last minute visit but pleasantly surprised. Lovely carvery and very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visiting.

We booked in for Sunday lunch 6 adults and 2 six month old babies at 2.30pm. What a great atmosphere to attend a full restaurant with friendly people and staff. Sarah was a star making us feel welcome and at ease. The boss was behind the bar, working hard but still giving each customer time and attention. Food was carvery style with starters and sweets served to your table - all the food was well prepared, tasty and well presented. We will be back again in the near future. Seating could be in the restaurant or main function room - we chose the latter as great with the little ones.

My family and I chose to dine at Olde Wyrley Hall on Sunday 12th August 2018 to celebrate my twin brothers 36th birthday. We booked a table for 8 people at 2pm and all decided to have the Carvery. When we arrived we had a drink at the bar then were shown to our table. We all commented on how beautifully the place had been decorated and also how spotlessly clean everywhere was, especially the toilets. We collected our food from the Carvery, the choice was beef, turkey or pork, I tried some of all 3 meats and each one was cooked to perfection and we all commented how tasty the meat was. Also the choice of vegetables was very nice and again cooked to perfection, not dried up or looked like fresh and old had been mixed together as I have noticed at other establishments. My mom asked if she could have a small dinner as she doesn’t eat large meals and she was told she could have a child’s portion which was perfect for her. I baked a birthday cake for my brothers and gave it to the gentleman who served us at the bar before the twins arrived as it was a surprise, and he kindly took it into the kitchen, after our meal it was brought out with candles lit and we all sang happy birthday. The waitress also kindly brought plates with a knife and we all had a slice for our pudding. We found every member of staff to be very kind and friendly and made our family birthday celebration very special indeed with memories we will treasure forever. Great place, friendly happy staff with amazing food, we can’t wait to return to try other food from the menu and also an evening of entertainment I noticed they provide throughout the week. Meat very fresh I don’t usually have Beef, but it was beautiful melt in the mouth, good array of vegetables best Carvery around, very local and within walking distance for me, but plenty of car parking space and very friendly hosts, Carl and Lynn very reasonable prices.

Had a Surprise 50th Birthday there 23/6/18.

Had a brilliant night here for my grandads 90th birthday. All 16 of us had 3 beautiful courses and were well looked after by all the staff. They went above and beyond to cater for my boyfriend who has coeliac disease so cannot eat anything with gluten in it. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend this place for both a quiet drink/meal or if you are large party.

Went on a Wednesday night and had a two course meal the main was a carvery the food was amazing the staff extremely friendly. We will definitely go back again and have recommended to family and friends.

We have been to the Hall quiet a few times, the drinks are reasonably priced and there are a range of meals to choose from including a carvery on a Wednesday and Sunday.

Always have a wonderful experience at the old Wyrley Hall. The food is beautifully tasty. The staff were all polite and welcoming. Decided to spend new year here and the atmosphere was great and the owners were extremely welcoming, had a brilliant new year here. Thank you for the hospitality ☺️

We have been having our family meal here for 17 years and have never had a poor meal or bad...

4 of us went for a family meal here on a Sunday. They have a carvery on a Sunday and 2 of us asked for the vegetarian option : we were told by the chef that it would have to be cooked from scratch and that it would take 15 minutes. After 15 minutes we asked a waitress to see if our meal was ready, and she returned to say it would be ready in 5 minutes. After 5 minutes we went to the serving area, and the Manager came up to us and told us it would be another 5 minutes : we said that we had been told that 5 minutes ago : he made no attempt to apologise, and told us to move out of the queue as we were in the way of other customers : he also said "we are a carvery, we don't cater for vegetarians" which was obviously a lie as they had a vegetarian option in their kitchen which they offered to us. We decided at this point not to bother, as our two companions had nearly finished their meal, so we decided to wait in the bar for them. A few minutes later a waitress came to find us and said that our main course was now available. We said we no longer wanted it as we were disappointed that the manager had spoken to us like he had : She sympathised and went to tell the manager what we said. He came over to us and was very aggressive and trying to be intimidating : we was shouting at us (in front of all the other customers) and pointing and wagging has finger at us and told us he was going to charge us anyway, to which we replied that we were not paying : he told us (again) that they do not cater for vegetarians as they are a carvery, and when I said "you clearly do cater for vegetarians as you have a vegetarian option" he told us he does not need customers like us in his pub and he wanted us to drink up and get out of his pub, which were happy to do. He then attempted unsuccessfully) to charge our 2 companions for the meal that we had refused, and not only that he asked the bar man (who was just a young lad) to sort it out, which just goes to show that he is a coward as well as a bully. I have never refused to pay for a meal before in my lifetime, but he was the most ignorant individual I have ever had to deal with. This whole scenario could have been avoided with a simple apology from him when our meal was not ready at the time it had been promised.

We went to a Christmas carvery meal with family. We ordered the vegetarian option at the counter with the chef who kindly agreed to cook it in 15 minutes. After a while we checked when the food would be ready and were informed 5 minutes. After 5 minutes we went to the counter to collect the food only to be told by the manager that the food was not ready and would be another 5 minutes. We received no apology and were told to move out of the way.

We often eat at wyrley hall and have never had anything but good food and great service .the new owners Carl & Lyn are doing a great job & appear to have settled in well. All the staff are polite and helpful and the food is always great . so pay a visit and see what you are missing .must be the best sunday lunch in the area.

Since the new menu was launched we have eaten here at least once each week, and I have to say that I'm very impressed. Every dish we have chosen is tasty, well cooked and portion sizes are good too.I've particularly enjoyed the steak pie (proper base not just a 'topper') and the chilli con carneCrème Brulee is also great!Well done, keep up the good work

This is where I had a my 50th Birthday party, we had a great night it all went really well, everyone had a good time. The function room was laid out well, it a good size room 100 people + no problem. Everyone commented how good the food was. The bar prices were reasonable, parkin was ok.We enjoyed the food so much we went for Sunday lunch the next day that was really good .

I was a guest at my nephew wedding Friday 4th August 17 . Old Wyrley hall catered for the whole day inc evening doo . The main room was set up for a standard wedding function . Seating for approx. 45 people - Tables for sit down guests were round accept top table very nice decoration's through out - Cake set up on a table to one side ideal for picture opportunity - Meal Soup starter minestrone / mains Chicken & beef and veg / dessert cheese cake .. very nice cooked meats .. Nice friendly staff ... Prices of drinks at the bar fine .. Later tables moved to one side to allow a dance area for evening doo ..You are taken through to a bar area why this is sorted which was nice to catch up with friends - DJ upon a staged area good music through out .. The whole day / Evening went very well .. ideal function room for any party - Will call sometime for a drink .. Well done to Old Wyrley Hall management keep up the good work

Held husband's 70th birthday in the small function room on Saturday for about 35 people. What can I say but a massive thank you to Carl and Lynn. Nothing was too much trouble, the buffet was exactly what we wanted and the venue perfect for our needs. Will without doubt book again when we want another family get together. Thank you soooo much!

A very disappointing night. There was no flambe chef as he was on holiday. Meal was very disappointing for the price we paid. Me and my husband ordered a Flambe Steak Diane but was told it couldn't be flambed as the chef wasn't there. When the meal came we were under-whelmed to say the least! The steak was thin and over-cooked. The 'Diane sauce' was not Diane sauce at all, it was just gravy - it was not creamy and there was not a mushroom in sight! They put salad with gravy, which I thought was odd. It was just a garnish passed off as a salad! We couldn't wait to leave the restaurant and go somewhere else for a drink, just to salvage the night. The service was also disappointing as the waitress didn't do her courtesy check and ask to see how our meal was. She didn't even ask us what we thought about the meal at the end of the night and there was no response when we said we would not be returning.

Wow!! Over the moon with our choice. Carl and Lyn went the extra mile from our first meeting until the minute we walked out to go on our honeymoon. Everything was perfect, and the food was amazing. We had so many positive comments from our guests and we still are. All the staff are very helpful and pleasant. Couldnt ask for more. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be booking any future parties. Thank you so much!!!

We hired the function room for my sisters 21st Birthday party this weekend. Staff were helpful and attentive to everything we required. Buffett was varied and all tasted lovely! As there was no daytime event in the room we hired, we were able to go in throughout the day to decorate which made the evening much more relaxed. Thanks to all staff for making my sisters birthday so lovely!

So pleased we chose this venue to host our wedding day. Lovely comfortable spotlessly clean restaurant, bar and banquetting suite. Carl, Lyn and Salem worked tirelessly to ensure our day was perfect. Hot buffet was cold from when it was served (cold wedges, cold fish strips). Certain items of food paid for were not bought out including samosas, onion handed. Desert was put out without any plates/dishes or cutlery. Wine was not served to tables (which was supposed to happen). Over heard chef speaking really rude to bride. Manager did not seem at all bothered by this. Disgusting service. Would never go again.

We have visited again today, a group of 8 of us. Everybody had the carvery and a pudding. It was the first visit for some in the group, but everybody enjoyed their meals and the service was prompt and friendly which was great. They are currently making some improvements to the restaurant and bar area and I'm sure it will be great when it's all finished.

Very enjoyable,good food there was a great selection, and the prices are reasonable, the staff are very friendly, cheerful and helpful ,great atmosphere,the host Lynn and Carl were great, I would highly recommend, it is certainly a place I will be returning too, and recommending to family and friends. Well done.

Attended a function here for an awards presentation evening. Apparently its under new management, but it was our first visit - I'm sure it won't be our last! Great location, friendly staff and a fab choice of ciders :) Will definitely consider our next family function here! Restaurant part looks lovely, although haven't tried the food in there yet but the catered buffet was delicious.

What a fantastic place ! Excellent all round for a function or just a meal out as a couple. A warm and welcome feel to the place along with great food (the chips are amazing) makes for a great night out. Cant wait to go back. Thank you we had a lovely night.

Had a fab evening at olde wyrley hall using their function room for a presentation night. Friendly staff, great food and atmosphere - will definitely be going back!!

The room was decorated to a really high standard for our football presentation. The food was fantastic and the DJ too. What more can I say. Home cooks chips. Yum yum definitely going back

My granddad wanted to celebrate his 80th here after attending a friends party here. We ended up with 80 people for a sit down meal, with an entertainer suggested by the team at Old Wyrley Hall and couldn't have asked for better. The staff were great, the food was brilliant, and they catered for a large group without breaking a sweat. If you don't know it is here, you could easily miss it, as it is tucked away just off the main road, but it is definitely worth a visit. Thanks Carl and team :)
