The carvery at Old Town Inn came highly recommended and didn't disappoint! We were advises to book, and glad we did as not surprisingly it was busy. There was a great selection at the carvery, and everything was delicious. The staff were brilliant, and there was a great atmosphere. We enjoyed it so much, we're going back again! Thank you so much OTI!

After walking for some miles we chose to go to Old Town Inn on St Mary’s Isles of Scilly. On walking in to order, someone was being served and a second person behind the bar did not appear to be working so I queued to wait. Someone came in behind us and got served immediately. I complained and got a grunt of notice. Then ordering sandwiches from a dull menu, we asked how the bread was cut, we didn’t want “door steps”. Assured not, we ordered. Thick supermarket soft white arrived and the egg in egg mayonnaise was dominated by the mayo. Not an experience to repeat!

A somewhat different place from when last visited (around 4 years ago). We were here to watch the panto and really appreciated the difference the new owners have made. The panto was great fun with a full house on the night. The drinks and other refreshments were reasonably priced too. Looking forward to visiting again on our next visit to the islands.

What a fantastic little place. The OTI has a very peaceful atmosphere, it's very homely, has a great menu, and the staff are really lovely. We popped in for a few drinks one evening and then went back for a meal a few nights later. We had the breaded king prawns, calamari, the piri piri chicken burger, beef lasagna and the beef burger. All of the starters and mains were delectable and we will be going back again when on the IOS next. All of the above was washed down with Ratler, Atlantic IPA and Scilly Gin & Navas Tonic. Thanks OTI. 26/10/2023

First visit to the Old Town Inn for a sandwich lunch and drink. Nice to have an alternative to the Hugh Town pubs. It’s clear the new owners have put a lot of effort in to the decor which looked great. Food was very good - both in quality and value for money - and the staff were very friendly. Will visit again for sure!

Stopped in here on a wander around the fringe of St Marys and it made a perfect lunch stop away from the cruise ship crowds. Plenty of space inside with a variety of seating options or two outdoor garden areas, one on the street, the other out the back. A good range of sandwiches and drink options to choose from, we tried a beef sandwich and some cheesy chips, both were great. Perfect, knowledgeable service as well when we were unsure about beverages. Recommended

Lovely pub with friendly landlord and decent beers including Neck Oil. Dog friendly too. Decided to eat a meal there, but unfortunately was disappointed. Normal pub fayre, decent chips and scampi but the chilli con carne was very average and uninteresting, microwaved rice with a few tortilla chips and a large bowl of pretty tasteless minced beef with chilli beans and little taste, I can definitely make a chilli better than this. Shame as it is a great pub for drinks.

Locals and visitors use it and although we never saw it packed, it seemed to be nicely busy. It's USP is perhaps it's weekly showing of the film Why the Whales Came, based on the book by Michael Morpurgo each Wednesday. We ended up eating here 3 times and on each occasion the food was really good. Whether Fish and Chips, Pizza or Roast, it was tasty. We booked for dinner at 7:15pm on Wednesday evening at the Old Town Inn (about 15 minutes walk from Hugh town) in order to watch the film 'Why the Whales came' which is based on the Michael Morpurgo book of the same name. The setting is on Bryher so we thought this would be good whilst holidaying in the Scilly Isles. You pay £5 a person to see the film and unfortunately it was a very poor quality print. However it was shown on a big screen with comfortable chairs. So we enjoyed it - although it isn't a great film! The food was OK and reasonably priced (we paid £37.90 for two main meals and two glasses of wine.) But it took over 35 minutes for them to deliver the food to our table after ordering and frankly it looked like they were understaffed. So disappointing in some ways. There are nicer places to eat - although most in Hugh Town.

We come to the Scillies twice a year and generally go to the OTI twice per visit. Once a year, up to 10 of usgo, and the other time there is between 2 and 4 of us. The welcome has always been good...untill tonight.

We visit here each year for the Sunday roast. The food was good but they do not serve coffee which came as a surprise.

We had mixed experiences here. The first time we went we had homemade pizzas which took a long time to prepare but they did warn us but were delicious, then we went on Father's day and they weren't doing pizzas sadly but we had the nut roast. I asked for it without gravy or roast potatoes it came with both and it was all highly salted, such a shame, you can always add salt. I really liked the wide range of unusual ciders.

We stayed here for three nights for B&B; and it was lovely. We had a large room and a good size bathroom. The rooms are on the side of the pub (so you don’t have to go into the pub to get to your room).

After enjoying a delicious Sunday roast last year, we were looking for a repeat performance. We were shown to our table and when I went to sit down near my wife, the waiter told me to sit opposite her as there was a dog sprawled across the floor (at this point we looked round and saw not 1 but 4 dogs in the restaurant part of the pub - what about hygiene regulations) I declined and sat where I wanted to eventually the people on the next table moved the dog. We were to be sadly disappointed food wise, despite booking a roast 2 weeks in advance there were none "saved" from lunchtime (this rang alarm bells as it suggested it wouldn't have been freshly cooked that evening). Instead we ordered from the menu, the first (main) course took 60 minutes to be served. My Clam and Bacon linguine was minus any clams and the linguine was well overcooked, my wife's pizza was supposed have 4 toppings on it and looked like a child had put it together. All in all a very disappointing meal, such a shame that a place can go downhill so much in 12 months. The OTI IPA was a very good pint though.

Popped in for a quick drink to cool off from the heat with our son. Toys provided for children to play with however... once we paid for the drinks the friendly welcome disappeared and was basically told to leave by the rude owners, as our son was playing with the toys and having fun too much.Hardly anyone there so no on was complaining. Will never go back!

Whilst on holiday on St Mary’s we have eaten at the Old Town Inn twice in one week. It’s frienfly with great service and excellent food. It’s the best rump steak I’ve eaten. Cooked to perfection. We will definitely be going back on our next visit.

Close to the beach but wildly overpriced for really basic fare and their “artisan gelato” is disgusting. We tried three flavours and they were all terrible, but the chocolate was so atrocious we couldn’t finish it. Ask yourself when the last time you didn’t finish an ice cream was!

On holiday for a week and we visited 3 times. First time was for a drink only, second for an evening meal and thenthirdnfir Sunday lunch. On all occasions, service was friendly, attentive (without being in your face or false) and courteous. Our evening meal was a beautiful piece of grilled haddock in a very tasty sauce with vegetables and potatoes. We also ordered a side of truffled mac n cheese. It was absolutely amazing. Sunday lunch was probably the best I've ever eaten as a pub dining experience and I've eaten a fair few in my 59 years. We opted for the 3 meat version of beef, pork and turkey. The vegetable selection was interesting and perfectly cooked. The giant yorkshire pudding was delicious but for me, the roast potatoes and gravy were the jewels in the very large crown. There was no room for pudding but on our evening visit, we did share the amaretto chocolate torte, which was fantastic 😀. For the quality and portion sizes, I would say The Pityme Inn is excellent value for money.

Tasty - stopped in to grab a takeaway sausage roll and iced bun. Sausage roll was excellent and will be returning! Coffee was also good. Easy free car parking outside.

The staff were very friendly. The hot drinks were alright and the cakes were alright. They didn't rush us. The whole atmosphere was really nice and lovely. I didn't have to raise my voice to speak to my boyfriend who has a hearing impairment which is a hearing aid.
