Old Street Records in Hackney

Been here a few times now and always enjoyed the vibe. Great music, cocktails and pizza. It was the first time for some of my friends and they had the best night out. Love the decor and the staff are super friendly and helpful. already looking forward to our next night out at Old Street Records.

Love the vibe at Old St Records, 2-4-1 cocktails are such great value and accompanied by some free live music too! I had a pizza which was perfect to soak up the HH Tommy's I'd had, and meant I could continue to enjoy the tunes into the night too. Def recommend for a date night or even a business/networking get together for sure. Coming back for my birthday!

Amazing live music on Thursday. Shout to Nico the manager for being so accommodating to our group and finding us a table to watch the band. !

Cocktail seemed nice but nothing was more sour than the female bartender who looked like she had been forced to work at gunpoint. I think happy engaging staff are part of a successful place

I cut my hand on a glass but billy patched me up. I was a little drunk and a bit overwhelmed. But billy was super kind and funny. will be coming back but strictly for billy. ❤️

Having been here a couple of times now the vibe is so fun. Only slight grumble is we made a booking for 20 people and they gave us two very separate areas then told us off for merging around one of them!

It's only worth visiting if you want to marvel at the power trip the bouncer feels the need to go on. At least that's a guide as to the behaviour of the staff inside - just as rude. The impression given throughout is that customers are a nuisance. On the plus side the live band was good even though the singer felt the need to tell the audience to watch how much they were drinking.

First and last time I will be visiting this bar. Staff are awful and so rude especially those on the cloakroom. Avoid this place if you want to have a good night!

Like someone else said, if I could have given a lower rating than the minimum, I would! This place should be avoided at ALL costs, especially if you are out celebrating a special occasion. My friends and I were out on Saturday night, celebrating two birthdays, we queued for a long time and paid £10 entry (overpriced for the state of the place). The place was rammed, it took a while to order a drink too, the bar staff seem okay, but the cloakroom staff were quite rude. Our first hour and a half here was good, although the toilets were disgraceful, if you need the toilet, go in advance as you’ll probably be queuing for 15 minutes! The state of the toilets are disgusting honestly, I can’t believe the owners/managers are okay with how they are. Smashed glasses and sick in the toilets is not how it should be. This isn’t the only negatives to the place, we had a shocking experience because of the outrageously rude bouncers and extremely unprofessional manager. My partner was removed from the venue very randomly, without warning, they threw him out the front door and threw his coat at him, stating he had to leave. (Not like he had a choice.) When we asked why they decided to remove him, they gave us TWO DIFFERENT reasons, the first reason was that he was with a group of “troublesome” men, when we stated that he was with us, the reason suddenly changed to my partner being “on drugs” we asked the security guard for proof but he had NO physical proof to prove his theory, they refused to search him or provide CCTV footage, which makes no sense whatsoever. They claimed to have seen him in the toilet an hour before, which goes against their theory, if they claimed to have seen drugs being taken in their venue, they should have removed him at the time…not an hour later. The assistant manager Billy made the issue worse, he picked out certain physical attributes of my partner and claimed this was evidence of him being on drugs. This is outrageous to do so to a customer, it’s disgusting to see someone abuse their power in such a way. Billy was incredibly unprofessional and rude towards us, refusing to listen to us and interrupting us as we spoke to him. We asked Billy to search my partner but he refused to do so, we asked him for any CCTV footage but he denied this very quickly. This overall experience is a JOKE, alongside their no solo entry policy, I would highly recommend to anyone to avoid Old Street Records, it won’t be worth your time or money, or wasting a good time with your friends. We all left after the incident, as we didn’t feel welcome or happy to stay since my partner was kicked out, instead we went to the bar next door, Be At One, which was lovely and well worth our money and time. I would never return to Old Street Records, but I would recommend going to Be At One or Blue’s kitchen.

Me and around 12 of my friends came here on Saturday night, with a table booked, I went outside, when trying to enter again got told by the bouncers I wasn't allowed back in because their manager told them so, when I asked why they told me I used the wrong exit. My friends checked the door, no signage as to this being the "wrong exit" This "manager" came out and laughed in my face. The blues kitchen across the road is MUCH better.

You will NOT be allowed in if you are a solo male. Apparently the management will not allow solo men to enter and have a drink. I finished work around 20:30 and thought I would grab a few beers. I was stopped at the door by the doorman and was told I could not go in. This policy is total BS. They are literally turning money away. Good luck in a world where less people are going out because of cost of living pressures.

Had a great time at Old St Records, the staff were super friendly and the live music was great. We arrived just in time for happy hour and the cocktails were such good value! Would highly recommend!

The staff are rude and racist with no regard for paying customers. Avoid this place like the plague.

Came from a 10h shift in the hospital to have an after work drink with my friend. Was told I couldn’t come in to an empty pub at 6pm as ‘leggings aren’t in the dress code’ when I was obviously in commuting gear (gym gear, hoodie and backpack) my clothes are normally more oriented towards this type of venue but unfortunately I did not have time to change. Needless elitism is not a vibe lol

We had booked an area for 40 people for a work social and preordered loads of drinks. Staff couldn’t have been more amazing, especially Harry who looked after us so well and the door staff, everyone was so great! Can’t wait to come back for another social soon. 10/10 night

This place has the rudest staff I have ever come across. The glass collector was collecting full drinks and when questioned she starts to swear and say I’m accusing her of stealing all whilst she’s holding my FULL drink in her hand. Very angry lady. She went to get a manager and said I was swearing and he asked me to leave. Another angry man who got extremely brave with the security guards behind him. Overpriced drinks that staff just sweep up and want to make you pay again. Merry Christmas

Good night out, great music and atmosphere but there is no air conditioning. Everyone was dripping in sweat there was no air flow through the venue, to the point where it was difficult to breathe.

Drinks are okay. Same amount as surrounding bars and clubs. Entry was £5 each on a Friday night. The live band was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. The bar doesn’t serve water… yes you heard that right, you can’t get a glass of water....

They just opened after the pandemic and had to train bartenders as well as the rest yet they maintained the amazing kindness/environment. Shout out to Martell and Connor!
