Came here for breakfast with my mum and we were both really impressed. Firstly, all staff members were really nice, happy and helpful. We arrived early but the restaurant already had a fair few visitors. We both had a full English breakfast which comes with tea or coffee, orange juice and toast. This was a great addition and we were both surprised that it was all included in the price. Really impressed for £12! The breakfast was great, it was a good amount, really hot and no grease. Bonus! We would definitely come back again.

This was a real find. From the outside it looks unpromising to be honest, but it's a gem. The restaurant is in a hall-sized space, with beam and displays of pottery made on the site over the many years. The food is relatively simple, but delicious, great value and served very quickly. I'd recommend the Kerralan fish curry and the treacle tart. Afterwards you can go and watch beautiful glass ornaments being made at the en site glassworks. My mum is disabled and in a wheelchair, but we had no problem with access. She loved it.

Brilliant breakfast. Good quality ingredients. Great value too! And we have had a lot of breakfasts in many different places! Very good service from all the waiting staff. Would also like to mention Tom. My husband booked our table the same morning. He spoke to Tom and was so impressed with his telephone manner. Great customer service.

We chose to have lunch at The Old Pottery Restaurant based on a recommendation and the positive reviews posted for this restaurant; sadly however, we were very disappointed. We hadn't had crab for many years and so the locally caught Brixham crab sandwich lunch appealed. Unfortunately it fell way short of our expectations. For £16 I thought I'd get some crab meat in the sandwich, instead of which we had something more akin to crab paste, the like of which can be had cheaply from most supermarkets. The brown bread was almost too dry to consume, the portion of fries was frugal and the tomato sauce had either been watered down or was a cheap brand. The coffee was very bitter, probably over extracted by the barista. All in all a very disappointing lunch experience - in short and based on this, I consider the restaurant to be overrated and overpriced. We won't be returning.

Having visited the old pottery restaurant for lunch many times as a child,as did my partner , we were excited to visit today for a child free breakfast. The combination of happy memories of delicious food for when we were children and the expensive price of the food, we were very excited. The excitement very quickly wore off when we were faced with our meal. £14.50 for a “big breakfast” which in my opinion is a standard. Ketchup so watering, I think you’d find better quality for the dirtiest food truck in the back of a dark alley. I don’t want to be a complete misery guts, the black pudding was delicious. However, the rest of the meal was extremely salty. Now, when you order breakfast you get orange juice and unlimited tea or coffee included, so the food being salty shouldn’t be a problem seeming your given the opportunity to have plenty of fluids (probably why it’s included). BUT, you’re given enough orange juice to wet about half your pallet and the coffee was a complete disappointment leaving you not even wanting finish a cup.

Decided to try out breakfast today as we had both been here as children with our parents, very disappointed and would not recommend. We both had the large breakfast within which we could only complement the eggs and black pudding. The fried bread tasted horrible and the bacon was so salty it didn’t taste of bacon ? The hash browns tasted like the cheap catering pack one and the sausage was very bland ! I don’t understand why you would serve a whole piece of fried bread and then also a piece of toast on the side with jam ? You only get a choice of beans or tomatoes not both ? Very stingy considering the price ! Also the filter coffee was not nice which explains why it’s free refills. Would not recommend to anyone, save yourself and drive on into Newton Abbot and get a proper breakfast !

Do not normally write reviews however we went for lunch for Mother’s Day which is a special occasion for us as well as all families. Very disappointed with the food and service. Roast potatoes rock hard could not eat. Beef brisket so tough. Service very poor, had to ask for cutlery after food served twice and ordered coffee we never received. Such a shame as it is a lovely place but came away very disappointed on a special day. Will not be returning to eat.

Visited at noon. We hadn’t booked but were told we could sit anywhere except one particular table. Made our way to a different table and were told we couldn’t sit there either. Eventually we were seated in a dark corner. Very little space between us and the table behind. Right next to a boiling hot radiator, and the table had a massive metal leg which made it difficult to sit comfortably. Waiter took our order. One of our drinks was unavailable. We both ordered chicken and mushroom pie, dauphinoise potato and seasonal veg. Service was quick. When our meal was brought the waiter asked if we would like gravy? I said yes, and then he said he didn’t have any!! Pie was excellent although I had very little mushroom. Could definitely have benefitted from a gravy. Veg was tender stem broccoli and green beans. However there was nothing tender about the veg. I like veg al dente but this was more like al concrete, and was cold. I couldn’t cut it with a knife so instead folded it up and tried to eat it. It was like cardboard so I gave up. Disappointed. Have loved their cream teas in the past but in future will avoid their cooked meals.

We usually stop off here for a break on our travels. The cafe/restaurant is ideal for this and a walk around the shop. My only surprise on this occasion was the steep rise in meal prices, £15 for poached eggs! Cheaper at the Ivy. We’ve all been hit by costs but blimey.

Admittedly we went in the evening in December when The Old Pottery was offering a Christmas menu, but just because we are in December not everybody wants a Christmas meal. At no point when we booked was it pointed out that beyond the Christmas menu at £42 pp that they were offering a very limited restaurant menu. So excluding the Christmas menu the restaurant offered 4 main courses i.e. a vegetarian option, duck leg confit, fish and chips and a cheese burger. Emmm This type of menu is not what I would expect from a restaurant, this more akin to a cafes daytime offering. Sorry it was not worth our effort to get ourselves there and we will not be returning.

Our first visit to the old pottery which came highly recommended. So I'm sorry to say we were very disappointed by the attitude of staff, particularly the young woman who showed us to our table. Once seated it was obvious that the table was much to low for anyone to be able to eat/enjoy their meal comfortably, (cannot believe other people wouldn't have had a problem with table height) so we politely asked if we could be moved to a different table. But she just shrugged her shoulders and said 'we're fully booked' then simply turned and walked away! After sitting there for a couple of minutes another member of staff approached our table to ask if we were ready to order. We again explained to her about the height of the table, and asked if we could move to a vacant one which was a few feet away. She again replied we are fully booked, without any explanation as to why we couldn't move to vacant table! So at point we decided to leave, and find somewhere else to have lunch. I realise it's December and lot's of places are busy, and that can put pressure on the staff, but I'm sad to say because of their attitude it's completely put me off going back there anytime soon.

Non existent customer service to the point you leave feel totally ignored and really not happy. Visited 22nd October with my husband, mother and 4 year old son. We booked a table and were seated quickly. The food came quite quickly and we were quite impressed with the menu and food quality, even though a little pricey. However once the meals were set down no one bothered to check in with us thereafter. No one came to ask if we were enjoying our meal or needed anything else, we had to catch the attention of a waitress to request butter for the bread, which came with no words or smiles it was just dumped on the table. After finishing our meals we sat staring at our dirty plates for at least 20 minutes. We all wanted a dessert but no one came to clear or bring menus, in the end we had enough all feeling thoroughly fed up and paid and left. Even on leaving we weren't asked if we'd had a good experience or we would have raised our concerns then. Another table came in behind us and were eating puddings as we walked out. Perhaps we were unlucky sitting in the corner next to the check in desk, although many staff walked past us many times, no one clearly could see that we were waiting. I have left feeling extremely disappointed and angry with basically being ignored. I will never come back here, which is a shame as the rest of the venue is lovely but this has tainted the whole place for us. I cannot recommend dining here unless you enjoy feeling a sense of invisibility.

This restaurant is only a 5 minute drive from our house yet we had never been in the day before. We decided on lunch with our daughter. Sadly her sandwiches were very stale. I chose the mushroom linguine which was very disappointing, it was just like eating dry linguine with no flavour or sauce, just some wild mushrooms scattered through dry pasta. My husband's crab sandwich was very basic and he described it as 'fine, nothing special.' For dessert we had a lemon meringue pie and our daughter her jelly and ice cream. The lemon meringue if I had my eyes closed I would not have guessed had any lemon in. It was just a soft dessert with no flavour. The jelly and ice cream was basic jelly with white ice cream, the type I remember my gran buying a big tub of 20 years ago, it wasn't vanilla or clotted cream ice cream just white flavourless ice cream. We noticed the age of everybody else dining and thought based on the previously good reviews on here it must be a restaurant for an older clientele. Soft, bland food with sadly no flavour. We were so disappointed and won't be returning. We'd much rather drive on an extra 5 minutes to go to Parke for lunch.

The Old Pottery Restaurant is fabulous. What is a venue restaurant by day transforms into a fine dining restaurant Thursday to Saturday evenings. The ambience is completely different. The staff are wonderful - friendly and helpful beyond belief. Several times they have coped with my dietary problems and enabled me to enjoy a superb dinner with friends and family. In June 2023 we visited with American friends - who are still talking about their experience. The food is beautifully cooked and delicious to eat, presented so nicely. We have been four times since April and are going again this month with other friends. On a practical note there is oodles of parking! They are doing themed menus on Thursdays (running the main menu as well), changing monthly. We have been truly blown away.

Have been coming here for years. The breakfast is always very good. Great produce and always a “clean” plate....not greasy/burnt etc. Staff very friendly. Hopefully will carry on coming for a few more years!

Great choice on menu and plenty of good quality food available.Cakes and desserts, soups. meals and snacks.Have occasional coach parties which can lead to queues and a little waiting time or lack of tables.Have outdoor seating and play area for kids. We have been regular visitors to The House of Marbles for many years and never been disappointed. My husband and I have just had the Christmas menu which unfortunately we both felt was really disappointing. The main meal was very bland and tasteless, not everyone likes red cabbage, the few carrots & sprouts looked as if they where someone else’s left overs. I had lemon pavlova for pudding which was miniscal. Not a cheap meal by any means and not your usual standard. We and several other customers thought the staff didn’t seem to have any leadership as they where all over the place and so young ?We will be back again but perhaps not at Christmas.

Had a excellent lunch at the old potterry restaurant with family recently. The atmosphere is quite nice and resides within the grounds of the old facility.Service was very good ,and anything requested was available. The food itself was very good ,as my wife and I had steak and ale pies (some of the best Ive had while in the Uk) and my father inlaw had a wonderful pork medallion dish which was delicious. All in all a great day.

Been to house of marbles loads if times before but never to the cafe. Very plesantly surprised! Fantastic customer service, had a restaurant feel. Had the soup of the day, for only £6 got a huge bowl of soup and bread. Cranberry juice was lovely and plentiful. We went back for cake and tea later, the cake/dessert potions are also huge! Great atmosphere and felt very welcome with the babies.

We just had a look at the marbles museum and decided to eat there. I had chicken mango salad which was bit spicy but of a good taste. Fish and chips were delicious and wine (red chardonay) too. Would recommend it. They offer daily menus, 3 of them. You‘ll find some gluten free food there. Staff was very friendly, ambient very calm and welcoming.

We usually go here at least once a month for one of their excellent breakfast so to go for lunch was a new treat. Could not fault the choices, quality and service. Prices for cafetières and soft drinks are very reasonable with an excellent choice. It was also very difficult to make a choice from the range on the menu. As usual there are a number of specials and we ended up choosing two of those - salmon based fish cake and chicken wrapped in bacon. Both extremely good and with accompanying salads and potatoes that were equally tasty. Followed up with an exquisite chocolate brownie that was not too sweet. Prices very reasonable.

We managed to bag a table just before the lunchtime rush, and were really pleased we did.Our food was really, really lovely. Freshly cooked to order and piping hot. Lots of choice, and the puddings looked amazing although we didn’t have room after our huge lunch. The pastry on the Homity Pie was some of the best I have ever had. Yum!Definitely give this place a go, but if you’re visiting the House of Marbles first, it is worth popping in and asking to reserve a table.

My husband and two friends and myself decided to go out for breakfast recently and chose The Old Pottery Restaurant and how glad we were that we did. A really great choice of breakfasts. We ladies had sourdough with avocado and poached eggs and the English breakfast for the chaps. Unlimited cups of coffee and tea and friendly attentive service with the excellent food made for a really good breakfast. We’ll definitely be going back.

Three of us went for brunch on Mother’s Day. Despite being busy, they were still very accommodating. We liked that we could ‘build’ our own brunch, thereby we had what we wanted, not what was given us. It came with a glass of orange juice and coffee/tea, with ad lib top ups. The food was beautifully cooked, and there was a basket of toast. Altogether a great experience!

Arriving with our daughter, two granddaughters (2 yrs and 4 weeks) we were very happy with our table tucked into the corner. A high chair was produced as if by magic. Hubby chose "Fish & Chips" which he declared to be excellent, my daughter had a vegetarian burger from the specials board and I had the beef chilli from the specials board. My daughter and I were both pleased with our choices. Our 4 week old granddaughter dozed peacefully on the table while we ate!

I drove three of my friends to The Old Pottery restaurant for a surprise lunch during the week. We were shown to our table by a very friendly staff member. There is quite a varied menu, a specials board and a small selection of light bites and children’s portions. I had the chicken and bacon salad which at £11 was a joke. Two strips of fatty bacon, three tiny pieces of chicken, many salad leaves and a minuscule amount of cucumber and tomatoes. Not good at all. Two of the others had the Snooki burger which came with fries, huge onion rings, coleslaw with the burger on ciabatta bread. Looked amazing but the burgers were almost impossible to cut. Coffee was good though. Unfortunately our lunch was also cut short as we were all too cold to sit there any longer. Shame.

We come here about once a month for breakfast and this is the best around. The initial hot drinks and juices are always tasty and fresh whilst the breakfasts themselves are full of quality local ingredients. The accompanying toast and preserves are always excellent. The service is very friendly and efficient with frequent top ups of hot drinks . Well worth a visit.

Nicely placed in the centre of town close to the main shopping areas, markets and bus station, this pub is now branded as an 'American-style burger and hot-dog bar' Well the food is good, though not outstanding and there is a wide range of drinks on offer The beer is well kept with the RED STRIPE lager being particularly good Its clean, though rather lacking in warmth or character The one member of staff on duty behind the bar was however lacking in most of the virues one hopes to find.....somewhat surly, unwilling to make either eye -contact or indeed speak....far more interested in his mobile phone than his customers That said, it provides a useful place to wait , warm & dry, for a bus I suppose

6 of us locals went to The Bucket & Spade last night to celebrate a 70th birthday. The ages ranged from 5 years old to 79. The food was very good. We had 6 different selections and all of us were happy. The service was exceptionally good. Beth was front of house and could not have served us better. After years of not visiting, I have been up to The Bucket & Spade twice recently and highly recommend it.
