Well where to begin? My wife and I decided to celebrate our marriage with a low-key intimate evening meal with our families in this amazingly quaint, characterful and welcoming nook, set in a beautiful place. The owners were kind enough to go out of their way to open the restaurant specifically for us on a Thursday evening, and they constantly made us feel welcome, doing everything they could. Being a party of 22, they created a stunning dining space and decorated it impeccably to our taste! With the log fire on and views of the river, we felt so grateful. Despite being a big party, and only the two owners working, we never felt rushed and nothing was served too slowly. They even provided complimentary olives and focaccia which was amazing. The main meals themselves were generous, tasty and full of flavour. The majority of things, including the delicious Kimchi salad, was picked from their garden and the fresh fish to die for! The lobster rarebit was something else! Deserts were also amazing, although it was a challenge to eat such generous portions at the end! The Barti Tiramisu, excellent! We will be forever grateful to The Old Point House for facilitating our special day in such an amazing place and will recommend it to anyone! PS; a special mention for Sydney the Seal who decided to gate crash our photos by sunbathing in the background!

We turned up at 3pm just when food finishes but they sat us down got us a pint & a fabulous menu! Exceptional baked mackerel & superb stuffed pork were washed down with a pint of lager. The next room was where the music was happening - you couldn’t swing a cat in there but it was rockin’. 5 muso’s I think - fiddle, a couple of guitars, accordion & something that resembled a banjo - my ignorance here This was one of those experiences that define your holiday - you stumble across something really special - thanks to the wonderful couple who ran the show! I am probably doing you a dis-service putting this on here as you don’t need any more visitors to know about your hidden gem but I had to do it.

This place is so cosy and has the most incredible food! It’s definitely a must visit if you’re visiting the Pembrokeshire coast. Don’t be put off by the road leading up to it, it’s worth the drive up the track! If you’re just having a pint please get their chips to go with it they are the best chips I’ve ever eaten. We stopped for a drink and dinner (chowder and a burger with chips) it was stunning! Reasonably priced for really good food and drink.

Lovely spot campsite quiet. Pub has been done out nicely. Was really looking forward to our meal My husband’s meal was lovely Sea bass and salad chips really good . I couldn’t eat my burger it was really dry and the roll was stale felt like it may have by a left over from Cafe Mor! We told the waiter ( who seemed more interested in his phone than his customers!) I didn’t have to pay but a shame because an otherwise enjoyable stay

Gorgeous setting, delicious food and lovely atmosphere! Pint of prawns to share, crab tagliatelle and lobster focaccia rarebit! We will be back to sample dessert as there wasn’t any room left in our stomachs, settled for a Barti rum to wash it down. Lovely garden for families too with a fun old boat for the kids to clamber on!

Best pub food I've had in years. We were made to feel very welcome and the service was excellent. A chef friend of ours had said they had the best chips she'd ever eaten so expectations were high! You know the meal will be good when the olives (with seaweed) and the focaccia are outstanding. We has beef burgers, veggie burgers and a Thai curry. All were delicious. To top it off we tried sharing one chocolate brownie but it turned into a fight, it was that good. Beer on tap was pretty damned good too. Highly recommend this place.

Amazing food! Pint of prawns and muscles... perfect! The bread was cooked brilliantly, everything with the food and chefs was brilliant! We popped into this bar for a quick drink and a meal. There were many friendly locals sat outside. We had the most amazing burger and chips. There is plenty of parking. Drive past the run down looking bit and at the back there is a big car park. Don’t be put off by the stony track that leads to the pub. The drive here is well worth the effort.

Today Sunday I booked for Lunch based on two previous memorable experiences when visiting The Old Point on our vacations. Today was my husband’s birthday we had checked out the sample Sunday Lunch menu on the website and looked for to lunch, on arrival it appeared you had to queue at the bar to check in for the restaurant as no table service was apparent in the restaurant , we found our table but no menu provided so back to the bar! On looking at the menu Sunday lunch was not an option!Again back to the bar to be informed you no longer do Sunday Lunches no apology offered. My husband expected more than crab/lobster/bacon rolls that were on offer for a birthday treat. We had driven over from St David’s over an hour to Angle , we left without eating or drinks. We will not be back. Please to avoid future disappointment manage your customers expectations and edit your website to truly reflect what is available.

Fab food and live music outside. We had Crab Rolls and Local Angle bay Oysters. Very busy at the small bar with a queue out the door. But it is the smallest bar in the world and to be expected on a busy weekend. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Nice range of beers and cider also good wine. The only downside was that the Famous 'Cafe Mor' seaweed burger bar was closed. Maybe next time. Thank-you for the lovely food.

We are local and over the years have visited the point house, albeit camping, seeing friends or walking the Angel loop and stopping off for a drink. However last weekend along with a group of friends, stopped off for food and a drink. The Barman was so rude! His attitude left our group feeling we shouldn't of been there, we were really taken aback by his attitude, We opted due to his rudeness not to have food and after one drink we made our way to the Hib where we were met with welcoming, polite and attentive staff. Such a shame, we never stayed for food, more drinks and feel that they really need to address the rudeness of the bar man. I appreciate through the summer holiday makers will keep you going, however us locals are all year round.

Very surley service. Asked if they were serving food.Barman answered a loud, unfriendly NO. Surely,he could have said more professionally 'apologies, but our snacks have ended for today, but by all means look at our restaurant menu.We open in about 40 minutes' But no he didn't. We did take a look at the menu later. The meals were all very over-priced in our opinion. The Sea Bass was £50!!. We left and went to the Hibernia in the Village. Be prepared for their abruptness.

Well first thing to say is it's a bit of a trek no matter where you are coming from and if you have an old car it might not be for you. The road down to this waterside eatery is rough and I mean rough, but, if you take your time you should be fine. It is in a great location overlooking the Milford Haven waterway from the Angle side. We got there and they had a Welsh Male Voice Choir doing there thing and it also turned out to be National Laverbread Day, so laverbread (seaweed) was served with everything. It's an interesting taste and probably not for everyone but well worth a try. It was very busy, especially given the inclement weather but luckily we had reserved a table for 8. Because of the size of our party we were shown to the back room, which isn't as cosy as the bar or restaurant area but it served it's purpose if a bit cold. The guy that showed us to our seats took the drinks order and left menus for us to brows while we waited. We ordered 3 roast pork, 3 lamb, one smoked salmon and vegetable soup which had huge lumps of veg and looked fantastic. We also had several shared starters that consisted of local baked bread, olives and Laverbread (seaweed for those that don't know) The mains arrived and the pork was a very think slice with good crackling, the lamb was a sort of minced version which was a shock but very tasty none the less. Salmon was as you would imagine. We were given 2 large bowls of veg, roast potatoes, parsnip, carrots, etc. which were delicious and more than adequate for our party. The only downside was not enough gravy but they did bring a big jug of it when we asked. Needless to say it all came with laverbread. Puds are a bit limited but frankly most of us were stuffed anyway but the kids had brownies and ice cream which they enjoyed. The owner, John, is very sociable and when I asked what he was growing in the tunnel he gave us all the full tour, tunnel, spud patch etc and very interesting is was too. Got solar panels and the whole eco thing going on which is to commended. We had a great time and were looked after superbly by one and all. John even gave me a tub of laverbread to bring home and fry with bacon for breakfast. Would certainly go again and I highly recommend this place if you fancy somewhere different. Well done Old Point House for being something unique.

Don’t be put off by the old beaten track - it’s worth it even if it’s rainy and windy and rainy (and it’s actually quite fun)! 10/10 every time!

This was our first time at the Old Point House and it is in a fantastic location right on the edge of the bay at Angle next to the coast path. There were four adults in our party, all very hungry. Two of us had the local beef burgers and two of us had the fish chowder. Both were delicious and generous portions. The food was unique and the flavours had subtle hints of the sea. Every thing we ate, including the delicious focaccia, was made at the restaurant. The staff were welcoming and took good care of us. Most of the food on offer was fish or meat based, but there was a very tasty sounding vegetarian meal on offer. The price was reasonable for the quality of the meal and I hope to return before too long.

We decided to call here for a meal as we had been a couple of years previously, when last in Pembrokeshire and had enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken skewers which sounded delicious on the menu, but the chicken was still pink and uncooked near to the skewer. The chips were unusual but ok. The sauce whilst sounding lovely on the menu, barely existed on the plate. My husband ordered battered fish and his was overcooked and dry and barely edible. The condiments jars were sticky and felt dirty to handle. They need a good wipe with a clean cloth. The sink in the ladies loo was filthy. It was Friday evening and not many people eating but no one came to ask if our food was ok and rather than going into a different room to find someone to raise our concerns, we decided to just leave and vow never to return. The road to the pub is full of pot holes and we had risked damage to the car to visit.

26/8/19 - We three middle aged guys were touring Pembroke after the Late August Bank Holiday and just popped by this favourite of ours which we had last been to in 1995 and two of us previous years as working and studying locally (1981!).The road to it is private, unkept and very bumpy. At extreme Spring high tides it can get flooded so beware when going there or returning after. The road access has changed from the town and you have to drive round the back tracks instead of the 'tractor only' from riverside track which has obviously deteriorated over many years. It was evident on arriving at 9pm on the actual BH Weekend that the place had been extremely busy as the paladin bins were overflowing. In we went to the old-world small bar with the once working fireplace and cosy corner. We ordered two Sharps Doombars and a Worthy Creamflow at £10.90 from the very cheerful and jocular young Barman who was talking about having just done a continuous 17hour day on Sunday and the bin men had not been for a week. The WiFi available meant we caught up with various things as we enjoyed the good pints. The BH was very good weather overall but the evening was a bit cool and damp (it had rained at the Speculation Inn Campsite (the inn was closed permanently hence our visit here) earlier at sunset whilst putting the tent up). Inside the Point was reasonably cosy with guests from the nearby campsite having quiet drinks. Outside was too cold to drink despite the glittering display of Milford Haven Petrol Refinery! The Doombar was the only real ale available, no doubt the other Atlantic had run out in the rush. A pulled fraught cider (Rosie's Pig) was still available. No music was evident, thank goodness. All told a nice relaxing experience with a good pint. I hope the staff got paid well for their efforts satisfying the masses!

we have visited this pub many times over the years and make a point of stopping in for a pint while meeting relatives that live locally. my wife and i ordered Fish and chips (a staple of any pub) and at £12 per dish we were expecting at least a meal large enough to feed an adult. presentation was nice, although there was a smudge of "green" on the plate that later turned out to be a mushy pea..there were 2 pieces of fish each about the size of a fish finger accompanied by (thickish) crisps pretending to be chips. everything was wonderfully cooked and tasted excellent however i felt robbed by the portion size. i have had brilliant meals there in the past but i understand it is under new management and a new menu. i wont eat there again.

This place seems to have its fair share of negative reviews, and we have experienced some poor service in the past, but on this occasion everything was excellent. The setting is clearly it’s strong point. Spectacularly stuck at the western extreme of Pembrokeshire, right next to a quiet bay on Milford Haven this is a genuinely next- to-the-sea pub. It has bags of character and is a splendid place to while away a couple of hours. Our food was very good, as were the beer and cider we had to drink. Service was pleasant and timely, although it wasn’t hugely busy at the time. As a bonus, we left the car in the car park and walked the loop of the Angle promontory, about 4K, returning for a quick final drink before heading off. A thoroughly pleasant afternoon, and certainly a location to stir the soul. Hence 5, this time.

Words almost fail me but all I will say is DO NOT EAT THERE!!!!!! We had an early evening meal there recently and I ordered mushroom stroganoff which clearly came from a jar. It had a glutenous, thick texture and was grey in colour which was truly awful. The staff were all about 15 years old and clearly not been given any training whatsoever as we had no cutlery, the food came in dribs and drabs and I waited 15 minutes at the bar before even being served (it wasn't that busy). It is such a shame that a pub in such a brilliant location and with such amazing local produce to offer, is really scraping the barrel in the quality of its offerings. Been here 3 years running with the children as we walk them and the dog on the coastal path each year. Looked for a bin to put the poo bags as we were going to be eating, as my 13 year old went to put them in the main bin he was shouted at by the landlord who was pretty rude and obnoxious. There was no signs by the bins asking not to put anything in, but signs in the toilets(?) were pretty abiding people and wouldn't have done it if there was a sign. It was obviously a point with the landlord though as he shouted at 2 other groups for the same whilst we ate in front of a packed garden. It's touted by locals as a dog friendly pub, not so sure. Go if you don't mind being shouted at for not being a mind reader, the foods quite nice.

When we said as such the waitress volunteered no alternative although on the board next door there were 'specials' including a cheese and onion pasty which we didn't see until after the meal!! Sunday lunch time although no roast there was live music with banjos which gave a wonderful atmosphere and sound filtering through the pub

Mixed bag this, its a nice old pub in a great location & visited here 3 years ago & had one the best fish meals ever (pan fried John Dory) & the beer was terrific. However, it changed hands last year apparently & the old lounge which we used to play haphazard darts has had a new bar installed at the end & tables to resemble a sterile cafe. The menu is limited (fish'n'chips/burger/lasagne is about your lot) & the beer uninspired & flat (Sharps & Worthington). In addition if you sit outside meals are served in reconstituted cardboard trays (takeaway style) which is unacceptable in every way. The fish'n'chips was OK but ultimately I echo other thoughts on here, the soul has been ripped out of this once lovely pub. A shame.

Some time ago I posted a very positive review of this out of the way pub. On a recent return to the area, I went out of my way to go back for another visit. The gardens appeared well looked after and the outside appearance was clean, however inside all the old features were gone and I was met by a newly painted sterile area. We didn't eat here so I can't comment on the food. I understand there is a new landowner, hence the changes, sadly I can't recommend going out of your way to visit this pub as all the character has been removed. If you are nearby and want to eat outside, this is a decent location.

We were staying in a nearby holiday rental and had been advised by them to try this place, we took the coastal path and landed just in time for the doors to open, a really friendly place serving good beer and cider, enjoyed a good lunch (on two occasions!), a really traditional pub in a totally stunning setting.

Popped into this place for lunch as I wanted a dog friendly place to eat. Myself and my sister came here and we both had amazing meals! I had the fish and chips which was epic, honestly it was faultless and the chips were perfect, My sister had a burger and said that was delicious, my sister even said she can't believe it's the first time she's eaten here but it won't be the last. The people who work here are lovely and friendly which is a great attribute to the place. Decor is simple and clean but nothing fancy, there's free dog treats available and the views are gorgeous. When I next visit the are I'll definitely return.

As we were visiting the area we decided to call in here for a quick lunch. Previous reviewers suggest not driving along the last bit of 'road' due to the potholes and that is advice we should have taken. Park on the main road and enjoy the last mile walk to the pub. The menu initially looked quite small but a few specials were on the board plus a Sunday roast. As we were making our choices we were told they would also do sandwiches with various fillings, which suited our needs better as we weren't that hungry. My beef sandwich on malted bread was delicious! All the others in our group of 8 also enjoyed their light lunches - especially those who had the pints of prawns. The choice of beer didn't suit my palate but a couple of bottled varieties were offered and the Crabbies Ginger beer hit the spot. The staff were very accommodating, service was quick, cost was reasonable and the location idyllic. I'd be more than happy to recommend this characteristic pub to anyone visiting the Angle area, just don't drive the car the last bit of road. After visiting the pub push on the last couple of miles to West Angle Bay, another hidden gem of a beach of which there are so many in Pembrokeshire.

Top Tips if you are visiting here do not drive to the pub if you have a spots card the pot holes are a killer, park in village and walk round the harbor bay to the pub aprox 10 minutes. Also call to check if they are open they are not open every day and I would advise booking if you want a full meal as its is a small but perfectly formed restaurant. Went for Easter Sunday Roast £9.50 each and shared a white bait starter £4.50 all washed down with wonderful cider. The menu is small 3 starters 3 mains and 3 puds but I would rather have a few things done well than 50 things done badly. After lunch finished our drinks sat in the garden admiring the view and then went for a walk to the beach at West Angle and then looped back via the village to the car. Couple of miles tops

Good to see the pub busy at EasterThe outside has been freshened with a new paint job and on a sunny spring evening the setting was great. Certainly a really great spot for a few beers and a snack outsideThere is clearly a lack of expertise here which reflects in a very short and very basic pub grub menu but if you go accepting this is the case the food expect a pleasant visit The new Landlord was very friendly and affable which added to the ambience. It's always going to be tough to build a great food offering here but it would be great to see just a couple more dishes on the menu with some simple local fresh produce. Certainly worth giving this a try because it is a unique spot ........Really hope the Old Point House does well

We went to the Old Point twice during a week's holiday nearby. The first time there were just the two of us and we sat near the famous fire and had sausage and mash in a giant Yorkshire pudding from the special's board. It was very tasty, very filling and reasonably priced. We returned the next day with two friends. There was no room near the fire so we sat in the restaurant which was not quite so warm. The special's board was, disappointingly, the same as the previous day. Two of us had a chicken dish from the specials board which they both enjoyed, I had fish and chips (scrummy)and the other guest had the whitebait as a main which he said was excellent. It was obviously used by locals as well as walkers and there would be plenty of room to sit outside in summer. We will return.

The Old Point House is magical. Historic and welcoming with its log fire and friendly locals. Ideal for a lazy pint both for walkers and those just wanting to wile away a few hours watching the boats. Step back in time and just laze the hours away. On a sunny day there is masses of space outside: when the wind and rain are blowing the cobwebs away then inside is cosy and quite delightful.

I've been wanting to visit the Old Point House for years, being a regular in Pembrokeshire, and finally got there with wife and kids at October half term My hopes were high given the location but tempered with realism that the menu was unlikely to be too exciting and reviews decidedly mixed - so the expectation was good pub grub in an atmospheric Pembrokeshire settingThe building and welcome felt a bit cold and empty - ok it is October but at half term it's still possible to attract enough custom to half fill a small pub that has got it rightAs expected the menu was very small - that's absolutely fine - but sadly very uninspiringFood was very mixed.- burger and garnish was poor but bun was goodSteak and ale pies x 3 were good but minty mushy peas were dayglo green with an obviously unnatural mint flavour and gravy was packet which meant the lovely pie was wasted. Chips weren't fresh but good quality frozen. We learned during the evening that the pub is under new owners this year though we sensed a lack of either the enthusiasm or knowledge / experience required to make this place really burst into lifeMaybe I'm being harsh as if this is the first year then these things take time and all the plans could be in place for 2017We will return next year full of optimism and truly hope that the old point house reaches its potential as a unique characterful Pembrokeshire pub with simple but fantastic fresh local food

The three stars is based on a previous visit, by boat, and the wonderful location. On this occasion I was walking, and turned round on the doorstep having seen a sign saying "please take off your muddy boots". This is a pub on a long distance coast path for goodness sake! On principal I decided not to give them business. I suggest the owner buy some decent doormats and boots scrapers and welcome Pembrokeshire's walkers instead of putting them off.

We've now been here a couple of times after walking round Angle geocaching, Google it! Good beer and food and a unique setting. We were told that until recently the fire in the right hand bar had been burning continuously for a hundred years or was it ten, can't remember anyway well worth a visit and a walk round from east to west beach. Try the chowder!

Coming here for over 30 years , this has to be the worst , although recently taken over , the new owner has the worst customer service, he actually threw a customer out for complaining his beer was not good, was told to not come back , the lady who runs the place is so far out of her depth , she clearly has not done this sort of thing before, no kids menu , this has always been a family fun place , watching it change over the years is dissapointung. Looking at recent mixed reviews I can see that some don't feel as we did when we visited last week, but we found it to be a real discovery in a region not exactly brimming with great options. It's in a choice spot, and the fresh, simple seafood menu was top-notch and great value. A couple of excellent local ales are on offer and we found the service friendly and swift. For us a much better option than the Griffin at Dale now, which seems to have over-stretched itself in a big way since we were last there a couple of years ago.

We came to this pub after walking the coast path around the Angle peninsular. We needed a rest, food and drink. Not necessarily in that order. This pub supplied them all and very well too, add to that its incredible setting we were well pleased! I had a steak pie, my wife a pint of prawns (see picture) and Chris another prawn dish with a chilli dip, We had no complaints on any score and many compliments. Service was quick and friendly. Its a real joy to find a place like this when a little hungry and footsore. Thanks to them for displaying the geocaching clue too.

The Point House has been a favourite of ours for many years, both because of its lovely location and its fresh fish menu. This summer we saw it was under new management and decided to give it a go. First impressions count: a growled "yorrllrite?" greeting from the young lad serving at our table did not create the right one. Asked what the fish was in the "Fish and chips" on the menu, he did not know. We waited over 40 minutes for our food. When it came, the microwaved pasta arrived a good five minutes before the dishes for the other three members of our party. The steak and ale pie had only two chunks of steak in it and consisted mostly of pie. Both dishes were clearly bought in and heated up. The fish and chips were all right. Overall the impression was of people completely out of their depth in running a restaurant. The lad who served us probably didn't mean to be surly and rude but that is what he was. We won't be going back.

Holidaying in Pembrokeshire, was in two minds to call in for lunch as this site had given mixed reviews. The location is obviously the main attraction. Asked at the bar if it was OK to bring a dog in, and told no problem in either the "old bar" with its wooden settles or we could go through into the smaller of the two dining areas. Presumably, the other larger dining area is canine-free. Menu plain and simple; I had the steak in ale pie served with chips and peas. Better than in many pubs as it was a proper short crust pie, not a stew with a puff pastry lid plonked on top. Wife and grandaughter both had scampi with no complaints.

Having been a favourite for many years, this is now very ordinary. The menu is uninspiring, the service is vague and the "improvements" have lost the place its buzz. Served undercooked scampi with little grace from the staff. Could do better.

The Point House has changes hands again - it has been refurbished which it did need but has lost some of its character in the process. Of greater concern is the poor choice and limited availability of food and the lack of any decent beer. I didn't drive 6 hours to end up drinking stuff I'd actively avoid at home! Not one single local welsh ale! If you want decent beer and good food you're better off trying the Carew Inn or Stackpole Inn - if you want to stay local the Wavecrest cafe at West Angle Bay has good food and bottles of Double Dragon. Avoid the Point House for now until the new owners have sorted themselves out.

I've never felt the need to write a review, as quite simply, if it's good we'll return if it's bad we won't! However, as we are regular visitors to St Davids to see family, this time, I've had to make an exception. We always like to visit St Davids Cathedral & stop at The Refectory for lunch.. What's gone wrong ? Not much choice as it's a very limited menu. Doesn't seem to be a manager or anyone in charge, it's more like lads on a night out. Bad language, dirty uniforms & very unorganised (putting it politely). We've always enjoyed visiting in the past but this experience makes us not want to come back again. After talking with family about our disappointing visit, we discovered there has been a change in management & staff. Standards have declined, the level of customer service, personal hygiene and food quality are extremely below standard. It's such a shame as previous visits have always been positive even during busy times.

Absolutely amazing food. Excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff are friendly, chatty & helpful, and it’s clean. Definitely recommend the coronation chicken, cheese salad. Hubby had baked spud first time which he enjoyed & baguette 2nd time each he enjoyed. And the cakes WOW!! I will miss the carrot cake which I highly recommend & the custard slice is just as amazing. The cost is brilliant too. Thanks you Phillys Baguettes

Ordered two crab sandwiches latte and a beer, £35. Staff need a pick me up or it’s been a hard season. The crab sandwich was good, spoonful of coleslaw, frozen chips. Was told to help myself to a glass for the beer, everyone looked not properly washed, picked the cleanest but still had bubbles down inside indicating grease. Latte was tasteless. Not a pleasant experience won’t be back.
