I drop into the Old Plane Tree regularly with my two golden retrievers, they see it as a home away from home. It's good then that the staff are so friendly, though that may be the dogs charms rather than my own. The food is good with a decent selection and the atmosphere is that of a laid back local. Quiet enough that I can unwind or social enough if I am in the mood. Great place and great people. Jena was the last person who served me, professional with a great sense of humour.

Hi there, I booked a table for 4 today for 16:30 at Old Plane Tree, Darnley, Glasgow. We specifically chose here as we wanted a Sunday roast and they had advertised on their facebook today that they were doing Sunday Roasts with 30% off. We ordered online by scanning the QR code and a while later someone came over to say they weren’t doing roasts the full of January! We found this odd considering the Facebook advert that was posted today and the fact my order has successfully went through online. I showed the Facebook post to the manager and she apologised but said it was an automatic post made by head office. We decided to order different food and then waited 1 and a half hours (from our booking time) and an hour from when our original order went in, for our food. When it came we discovered the pizza that was ordered on the original order had also been cancelled and not put through on the new order (although we were only asked to choose new meals for the roasts they couldn’t provide). After having to speak to a staff member yet again, as my daughter still had no dinner after an hour and a half, I went back to cut in to my steak and that was the final straw. I asked for medium rare and it was literally blue and freezing inside and like leather on the outside! At this point I took the steak over to the manager and advised we would be leaving without having our food. I have no idea how a restaurant can be ran so poorly with such lack of customer service and common sense and would love to know how customers are expected to know Sunday roasts are not available throughout January due to chefs being trained on how to make pizzas 🤷‍♀️ Every table around us also had issues and another table had also came for the advertised Sunday Roast. I feel like I wasted 2 hours of my life and ended up having to get a takeaway.

Yesterday at lunchtime we arrived around 13.20, we were seated and within 10 minhad drinks served and our order taken . Our starters eventually served around 1.55pm (the portion led me to believe I'd accidently ordered from the children's menu) We had those cleared away and sat and waited for our main courses....and waited.. and waited.. Eventually at 2.50pm we decided that as we had an appointment we could o longer wait so paid for our starters and drinks and left... Not even an apology... Drive past this place and go the McDonalds or somewhere would be my advice...

Love this place meet up with friends every Wednesday. The staff know us and gets our drinks without even asking. The food is good staff are amazing

We went back as we had not been in a few years for my husband's 60th birthday dinner last night,what a shock the food, atmosphere had changed so much. We sat for maybe 10-15 before we got a drinks order,the food was not it's best, a few of us ordered fish and chips and they didn't have tartar sauce or lemon for it.They also didn't have ginger beer or takeaway boxes. The service was very slow and when asked about a review the waitress wrote it herself from my daughter's phone. We would not go back or recommend

I was late arriving but thankfully that both the manager and chef agreed to serve me. I had the sirloin steak, which was cooked perfectly. Whilst not too busy, I was delighted to see that tables were quickly cleared and cleaned. Very presentable. Cath and her staff went above and beyond which is great to see.

Mairead was our waiter she was very lovely and very attentive which makes the experience more comfortable, food was lovely as well, would come again.

Eilidh was our server for the evening and she was very welcoming, kind and polite. The food was good but would come back for the service alone.

Been here a couple of times for lunch and it has been good however we booked for 9 on Christmas day and was really disappointed the waiting staff were very young and inexperienced the table we sat at wasn't big enough the meal itself was quite dry I asked for more gravy but was ignored our desserts were delayed due to staff having to reset a table and came in fits and starts with one missing,for the price we paid the experience was disappointing we weren't made to feel special which I thought going out for Christmas lunch was all about.Sorry for the negative post but if your not informed you can't improve.The Christmas experience won't deter me from eating here in future as is usually great.

The food was freezing like the restaurant. Staff didn't care. Nothing they can do apparently. Don't waste your money. You work too hard for it

I recently visited The Old Plaintree in Southpark Village, Darnley, and had an absolutely fantastic experience. We enjoyed a beautiful Christmas dinner, and the service was exemplary, thanks to Darcey, Cath and Eiligh. The food was delicious, and the festive atmosphere made it even more special. It’s a great choice for families looking to take the hassle out of Christmas Day cooking. Highly recommend it!

I came to the old plane tree with my family for my christmas dinner last night at 4pm staff were absolutely fantastic and were so attentive, service was extremly quick, the next course came out just as quick as the next, will definitely be coming back next year and recommending to my friends and family also!

Fed up of ordering and said item not available. 3 visits in a row, multiple items on menu not available. The pizza oven hasn't worked in months, so make it unavailable? It's really not difficult to run efficient customer service, but in this place, they couldn't care less. Food is good when they have it, customer service lacking and unbalanced in every.. single.. way.

Had a really lovely experience here! The food was amazing and would definitely recommend especially the Mac and cheese! Our server Jena was extremely helpful and made the overall experience so much better! Will definitely be back again!

Thankfully I don't live locally and I won't be back. Myself and my dog visited today. Ordered placed at 2.08pm, eventually around 2.50pm my order arrived minus my drink. The food was nice enough. Joke of a place.

I won't be rushing back anytime soon. I ordered a steak filly cheese baquette and it came in a hot dog roll😕, we waited ages to get served.

Came in for late lunch/dinner and a few drinks. Staff especially Anne was very welcoming and service was exceptional. Place was clean and tidy. Meal was delicious will be back in the future.

Food was good and the Service from Anne was excellent as usual. Mary said the fish was great, pints always enjoyed with a smile.

A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and there is no pressure on you to rush your food so there is plenty of time to have a chat with your friends or family while you are in the Old Plane Tree

Had a lovely meal yesterday 27/10/2024 It was our 57th wedding anniversary. This restaurant has changed since our last visit, for the better. There were four of us, staff were lovely and attentive. Food was delicious only complaint I had the roast just too much food . Will be back.thanks guys

Dissapointed as staff allowed a rowdy groups kids to play with a football whilst we were attempting to enjoy food and a catch up with family. Not a fan of tray style plates for the burgers, bottom bun was soggy.

The good is cheap n cheerful. There's a good variety on the menu. They also have a doggy menu. The staff are lovely and friendly. And They have both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a kids playpark. Inside they have a pool table and darts board. All round great atmosphere.

Ordered drinks then when we went to order food we were then told no pizza no grill food so we were not left with much to choose from. We were then sitting for over an hour before we got our meals. One hot dog came out with everything on it we ordered a plain one, they did get another one. I don’t think we will be back Was really disappointed.

Probably the worst food we had on the island. We had zucchini and breaded eggplant drowned in oil and a very dry mousse. I can't say it excels in service either. Sorry, but we didn’t find the experience pleasant and the food was not good at all compared to other places on the island.

Food was lovely tonight no complaints at all and service from Darcey was amazing, couldn’t of asked for better service and so quick!

Steak asked to be well done came back raw took away 3 mins later came back warm and still raw..food took about 30 mins to arrive not busy aswell ..tables left a mess surrounding us staff walked by several times never cleaned them ..very disappointed also why was a couple sat in kids section when there was tables free in main bar area..

We moved to the surrounding estate in 2016 and used to visit regularly until covid. Nice place to get something to eat and few beers. Rediscovered the place around 8-9 months ago. The place has a whole different atmosphere with the introduction of a dart board and a pool table. The Euros during the summer were class. Much more of pub environment Socially interfacing with others. Made a few new friends due to this. I will class myself as a regular now. Excellent friendly staff👍 Graham (BUD)

I'm not usually one for leaving reviews but have to give credit where it is due. First time having a meal in Old Plane Tree and was delighted with my overall experience, as a family of 7 with 5 young picky eaters the kids menu was a real good hit with my kids, and very well priced which is always a bonus, we were served by a lovely lady called Cath and nothing was a bother very helpful and always had a smile on her face. Great customer service goes a long we will definitely be back. Thank you.
