Loks Bar and Kitchen in Glasgow City

Ordered the Cullen skink for starters chicken and mustard and honey and fish and chips. Cullen skink was absolutely full of fish with potatoes and a beautiful sauce. Well seasoned. It's really filling. Best one actually I have tasted for a while 10/10 and I.dont please easily. Fish and chips was fine. Some chips overdone. Others ok. In saying that I would never have eaten much of them anyway. Love the minted peas. The fish was fine. The chicken was tender cooked well and the vegetables were nice. Had we known how much the starter was going to fill us with the beautiful little breads we would have probably stopped at that. The wine was good. Just wish it wasn't as high end priced as it is . However in saying that we still order it. Had some cocktails which were good. Staff as always on hand. Friendly and kind as always. Service excellent. Love the outside area. As I was looking at menu I really wanted just a couple of starters one being the Cullen skink. I could have ordered just 2 which would have been more than enough. But then I seen the deal on offer and went for that. Friday after 5pm. Some small plates on offer would be my idea of heaven. The food is so good. The toilets are the cleanest I have been too absolutely exceptional. It was a very pleasant visit

Food was terrible, lentil soup was so thin it was orange tastless water, steak pie, the gravy was so thick I could have used as plaster, easy things to cook and the chef couldn't do that

Took my client here for lunch yesterday, had sea bass followed by a sticky toffee pudding. Excellent food well presented Excellent service would certainly recommend 10/10

Went to Loks for a valentines meal, food was delicious and reasonably priced, I would recommend the burger. We decided we would like to have dessert but were unfortunately left with the desert menu for 20+ minutes with no one returning to take our order. After sitting with empty glasses and seeing the table, that were eating their mains when we received the dessert menu, have their dessert order taken before us, we decided to leave. Having to go to the bar to pay our bill. Over all, the food was lovely (despite not getting the dessert) but the service was atrocious!

GREAT STAFF AND LOVELY FOOD Been to Loks on a number of occasions, including at an event in their substantial function room. The food has always been very good, particularly for the price. The restaurant's interior is smart and well layed out, table-wise and also has a number of booths which are brill for couples, families or business lunches. For me though, the staff win the prize, always so pleasant and accomodating. Nothing seems to be a problem service-wise. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to others. Well done folks!

Booked the function suite for my Daughters 21st birthday party and it did not disappoint. From start to finish all was very professional. Nikki was a great help with all the preparations, the manager and bar staff on the night were very helpful and worked hard, and the Buffet was great and plentiful. Thank you for helping to make this a special night. First class venue and staff 😊

Whilst the food is delicious and the place has a nice ambience, I always find it a bit hit or miss in terms of service. Some staff are lovely, others don't seem to acknowledge you much and you find yourself saying please and thank you yet you get nothing in return

We forget about here. Live quite locally. Cod mornay was amazing.cooked to perfection. Cheesecake brilliant. Topped off with a nice chenin blanc. Shame the wine is a bit pricey otherwise we would probably never be out of here. Staff were amazing. Love the atmosphere. Good price for food. We will be back. Loved it today.

The Loks staff are always friendly and helpful to make dining a very pleasant experience. The restaurant is thoughtfully laid out with booths, regular tables and window tables. The back area is nice for coffee or drinks if you're not there for a meal. In summertime, the outside seating area is very nice. It's good value for money. We do like Loks and regard it as a longstanding part of our local community. PS. Can you change the fish back to plain batter instead of beer batter, or make this an option?

Nick and the staff do a great job, the food is excellent. It also has a beautiful function suite with its own entrance.

There were 4 of us and three enjoyed their meal a lot. Mine was the vegan option of butternut squash and chestnut stew with rice and crispy kale. It was very unpleasant. The stew was served in a small bowl and seemed to have been reheated many times or left under a heated canopy for a long time. Despite that it was warm rather than hot. It was dried out and tasteless. There was a huge mound of plain boiled rice which added nothing but bulk to the dish. The ‘crispy’ kale was unseasoned and very oily. I ate about 1/3 of the dish, only because I was very hungry. I will not return

Food was excellent served by polite courteous staff who were excellent. Good range of lager and beers in bottles and draught and didnt cost the earth.

Our go to place for mid week dinner, Excellent deal of 2 courses for £16 Mon-Thurs, beef bruschetta was brilliant, firecracker cauliflower was fresh and punchy, all freshly cooked, The staff are very friendly and efficient. Never had a bad meal and would definately recommend to all.

The outside isn't pretty and we may have passed on by but I'm so glad we didn't. Very nice interior, much bigger than the outside suggests. Charming staff and most importantly, delicious food. Fantastic burgers, beef and chicken. Great menu selection and reasonable prices. Very busy Saturday afternoon, I look forward to returning on a more relaxed day. Great job all involved.

Booked in last minute for a Sunday roast. We were not disappointed. Had salt and pepper chicken starter, cooked in light crumbed batter, chicken was succulent and tasty. Followed up with the Roast Beef, cooked to perfection and followed by Cranach cheesecake, thoroughly enjoyed all my courses. Served by gentleman with a pony tail who was friendly, professional and attentive. Will be back for sure!

Booked the function room for 1st birthday party and Loks were great to deal with throughout. The room was fantastic for a party and the service and food were both excellent. Highly recommend to anyone looking at holding an event here.

Family funeral. Great service, great staff, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful on this sad occasion. Been back. Menu is a wee bit static with loads of fish dishes and some vegetarian dishes. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Might return but would suggest that they update their website menus, there are a few differences.

We were having a rough day. Rain and family stress and hungry bellies. Then we came into Loks little oasis of calm and were well looked after and Tuesday turned around . Clean plates from all 4 ( a first with our fussy kids ) full bellies and a bit of low key nurturing from attentive ( but not too attentive) staff and we leave much happier than when we came in. Good quality food, nice cosy atmosphere. Glad next door Morrisons cafe had a leak ( and we had enough money for a midweek dinner out for once … and mama got wine 😊 ). A lovely place. Thank you.

AVOID the place if you value your health. I have just has a disgusting experience in Loks. I had the apple crumble dessert and found a coarse hair hidden in my food. Could be a nose or pubic hair for all I know. I was grossed out by the experience as you can imagine wondering whether my main dish had also been contaminated in a similar manner unseen. What took the biscuit though was the dissmissive tone and manner the "manager" (I'll use the term loosely here) dealt with my complaint. I was met with a complete lack of professionalism from the man arguing that it could be a "arm hair". Really reassuring knowing the amount of pathogens on a person's skin. I'll not set foot in the place again and will actively discourage other potential patrons.

It's been a while since we visited and we were not disappointed. Lovely cosy restaurant, staff attentive and friendly and food great. Two us us chose the special lunch menu and the third had the pensioner's lunch. We were all delighted with the quality of the food and the chicken sate I had was so succulent.

The food here is consistently good, excellent value for the price. High quality ingredients and thoughtful menu, well-executed. The market menu is great value at £16 for 2 courses and there is a good range of dishes offered. Very child friendly, £5 for mains and £1.50 to add a starter or desert or refillable drink. The service is always great also. Would recommend for a casual meal or a special occasion.

Lovely attentive staff and great music added to the great experience at Lok's Bar and Kitchen. Great variety on the 2 course menu and an amazing Tablet Sundae rounded off a most enjoyable meal. Recommend the fillet steak, cooked to perfection, and as requested.

Thought we would try Sunday roast. No choice of meat, just beef. The beef was very tough and there was a lot of waste. Three tiny roast potatoes and I mean tiny. The veg was small amount of stringy cabbage, few peas and tiny pieces of carrot. This all sat on nondescript gravy. Oh, there was a Yorkshire pudding, nothing wrong with that at least. No horseradish offered either. The roast was very disappointing. Wish we hadn’t bothered or just had burger or fish and chips. Waste of money. We went home hungry. Won’t be returning.

Put down an order for chix burger and a cauli pizza for home,burger came with no bun on top and pizza no sauce and uncut.. 😂

Really nice decor and accommodating due to the issues within the group. The Pizza was a classic Neapolitan which was amazing however took a bit long to be served. The Tablet Sundae for dessert was amazing! I would die to have it again.

The meat in the Sunday Roast was so tough that my aunt couldn’t finish it, I managed but only just by cutting it into tiny pieces. It was mentioned to the waitress and she said would let the kitchen know. Vegetables were nice.

Had Sunday lunch here. We have a tiny baby with a massive pram which causes problems in restaurants, but they were nothing but accommodating towards us. Friendly staff who were attentive even though it was quite busy. Food was delicious and the portion sizes were excellent, which is a rarer thing in restaurants now. Sets them apart from other restaurants/bars in the Southside.

Had an amazing time for my dad's 70th birthday. Food was delicious. Lovely big portions. Could not recommend it enough. Can't wait to go back

Regularly visit Loks as it's consistently good and the staff are great. Handy for parking too.

Plenty of staff but not attentive. Took a while for them to approach us for drinks order and had to attract their attention to order more drinks later, was ignored twice, when eventually ordered, it didn't arrive so had to ask another member of staff. Starter and desert were OK but main dish of roast dinner was very poor quality. Meat was full of gristle, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were dried out and hardly any gravy. Staff didn't smile the entire time, whipped the money for the bill away without a thanks or offer of change. (There was a generous tip included by our group). No goodbye or thank you when we left.

Booked Valentine's Day using voucher emailed to me, it was a busy night, but service was excellent and friendly.Our food was lovely, great starters, steak cooked perfectly. Wine selection was great. We will definitely book again, great value for money.

Food took 45mins to come. Large hair in one burger, cottage pie so salty that my sister couldn't eat it and the margarita pizza was disgraceful...pizza base with a scraping of tomato sauce and 4 little dollops of cheese melted on it. Garlic bread was burnt. Never again.

Melba toast with the salmon mousse starter was lethal! So hard! Fish Pie extremely disappointing..... very small portion and dry..... my own is far better!

Went out for lunch with my wife and just wanted a lunch menu which they didnt have. We went for Fish and Chips and a chicken burger with £15.95 i think price tag for each.. The service was extrenely slow for being quiet that day, the woman who served us was pleasant. The fish i got was really over cooked and the pea puree was stone cold frozen.. The staff didnt once ask how our meal was and i couldnt get their attention. The chicken burger my wife said was quite tasty but it wasnt a burger but a very small piece of chicken goujon. I really feel that it was a terrible experience especially for the price they charge. Please ask your customers how their meals are. I reckon they knew that it was a poor poor meal tvey had served. Well lesson learned from me, its not worth tge hefty lrice tag

Delicious fish and chips, also had the cranachan for dessert which was lovely. Went about an hour and a half before the kitchen closed and sat at the bar, which was quiet. Matthew was an excellent server - polite, attentive, and friendly. The restaurant was clean and service was quick.

Arrived at 3pm on a Monday - two tables in. Absolutely dead. Stood at the front door for around 5 minutes before sitting down because we felt we couldn’t be seen. Rudest man approached us and we politely asked “is it ok for a table for 3?” to which he snapped back “Nice to ask!”, clearly in response to us sitting down. We immediately walked out. I work in hospitality and not only would I not let 3 customers stand alone for 5 minutes, I also would not react in such a way. Particularly when business appears to be quite slow. Clearly unequipped to deal with the role of supervising a very quiet restaurant

First time visit to the bar area for a birthday event. A little off the beaten track but I was really impressed. Friendly staff and a nice cosy, intimate bar area. Some interesting craft beer options and an upmarket feel. Looking forward to returning to try the food in the near future. Very family friendly

From arrival to departure the staff could not do enough for us..we had our 7month old grandson with us..perfect..as to the food..cocktails and ambiance..all wonderful..thanks to everyone for making our day feel extra special!..keep it up..and Loks management..look after your staff..they are all a credit to you..

Great Christmas lunch with great service

Christmas lunch for seven of us. Great choice for everyone. Pensioners lunch deal avaiable alongside the Christmas menu which was nice. The staff were lovely and friendly. We will be back.

It was really easy to book by phone direct to the restaurant. Also there's plenty of parking available. We were all impressed with the food, service and staff very nice. Good food at reasonable prices.

Just had our Christmas party night last night . The food was absolutely awful paid £34 for a dinner that no one could eat. Don't waste your money going here.

A slightly confused place - from the outside it looks like it's going to be a cheesy chain pub / bar... but as soon as you walk in you find an elegant dining area with great food and service to match.

Outstanding food delivered to our party of 10 icl 2 under 5s Kudos to the Chef easily the best Steak I've ever had , each and every dish was equivalent to fine dining in my experience ! The Manager worked his socks off to ensure everyone in the very busy restaurant was given 1st class service outstanding gentleman that has been there for years and we have had this service from him quite a few times when having private family events today we also had our fathers Wake earlier and again as always very well looked after , this place never disappoints, sincere Thanks to him and his staff from all of our family

Having used this venue many times now I have never been let down by the service or the amazing food.we have used both the restaurant and also have booked the private function room for birthdays and we also held a wedding reception there.we have always dealt with Collette and Nikky who have never let us down both are ambassadors for this venue.

Quality food at a very reasonable price. Lovely setting, clean and spotless will be back.

Crowd of us were here for a friend's special birthday. Food and service was great. The staff helped us with decorations, cake etc. Great night.
