Old Nick's Fish and Chip Shop in Worthing

Been in hospital for a procedure and not wanting to cook a meal. So on a recommendation we thought we'd try this place. What a mistake! Chips inedible and from the taste they were obviously cooked and warmed up from a previous batch....in the bin! Fish was so bad....In the bin ! £20 + waste of money 😍

Just perfect fish and chips! Delivered in good time, still hot. Massive portions - a large chips can easily do two people.

Having found this Fish and Chip shop on Trip Advsor, we ordered for the family on line with home delivery whilst staying in Worthing. The meal arrived exactly on time, was as hot as can be expected and the full order was correct. The portion sizes were good and the quality of the food was good.

Had a great delivery from Old Nick’s. Usually order on the phone and pick up, but was tied up so ordered a delivery. Fish red hot and chicken as well. All tasted fantastic. Great chippy.

Last Friday, for some reason, Old Nick's was closed, so we thought we would try a different takeaway and chose Worthing's "Fish Factory". Their food was appalling... the cod was in hard, dark brown, over-cooked batter and the chips looked like flabby white grubs. Disgusting! (And NEVER again!). Anyway, this week old Nick's was open again (Phew!) and we had our usual Cod and chips... and it was DELICIOUS. Golden crispy batter, crisp chips - just perfect!

Had a contact free delivery from here last week. The driver was great - he waited for me to come to the door & gave me a big thumbs up when I picked up the food. The food itself was amazing - still piping hot - lovely crispy batter with succulent fish inside. Chips great too & fab curry sauce! My second delivery now & will definitely order again

Worth phoning your order in , waited 15 minutes for a child’s cod and chips !! Fish was a bit soggy as was cooked on such a rush .

This is the first chippy I have had since being in my new home / worthing. I’m 70 miles from my old home so it’s comforting to know someone knows how to cook chips I like. You know the ones that aren’t soggy but not hard but just right. The portions were large, service was satisfactory for a Saturday night, everyone enjoyed them at home, the perfect stop gap for moving in day! long may it continue! thanks!

Probably the best 'chippy' in Worthing. Very nice flavours, and the fact that they take the skin off the fish definitely separates this restaurant from the norm. Go there and enjoy!

This was not a visit to the restaurant, but home delivery. We ordered huss and chips. The huss had bones running free along both sides which made a lot of the fish inedible. Huss bones are awful to eat.. The batter was inconsistent and too thick in places. The chips were soggy. We were expecting a decent plate of fish and chips after looking at the other reviews, but what a disappointment. Delivery was fast and on time, which was one thing in its favour.

This place is the best fish and chips we have ever tasted the food stayed super hot even after a long walk to where we were staying as i said the best of the best

We often go here to get chips to accompany food cooked at home. They would get five stars if their fish were as good as our fish and chip shop of choice. Unfortunately, in comparison, their fish is bland in contrast which is such a shame, but both shops are equally as close, so I get the best of both worlds.

These guys are awesome. The burgers are spot on, their delivery driver is a legend, and the guys worked damn hard to get me my order in a crazily short time tonight after another restaurant let me down. Even received a text to say when they'd be able to make it. Thanks guys.

We always head for this chippy. It has a varied choice, the portions are generous and the staff are friendly. They do their own fish cakes (scrummy) and the batter on the fish is not greasy like some other places. Parking is a bit hit and miss but not a problem. In our opinion the best chippy in Worthing. We would recommend.

Always come back to old nick's for fish and chips as it really is the best. The homemade fishcakes and southern fried chicken burger are both great. The chips are always fresh and never too greasy. Service is always friendly too.

Intentamos nicks antiguo por primera vez la noche y fue entregado muy rápidamente a mi casa y fue sencillamente sobresaliente. El eglefino y bacalao así como las patatas fritas eran cocinados a la perfección y absolutamente deliciosa. Muchas gracias. Excelente servicio.

Este es el mejor pescado y patatas fritas que he tenido y su constante. Yo vivo a la vuelta de la esquina y es muy difícil no ir más regularmente. Mi compañero es muy exigente cuando se trata de pescado sobre los huesos y masa. Nunca tuve un problema y encontrar deliciosa cada vez! El personal es realmente encantador.

Teníamos amigos desde Londres que bajes de pescado y patatas fritas como fueron 'por el mar', así que algunos de ellos sugirieron llegar Viejo Nick's. No habíamos estado en Old Nick's por un tiempo, pero recuerdo que era muy buena la última vez que comimos allí, y no nos decepcionó.

Estoy muy particular sobre el pescado y el pescado en Old Nick es siempre excelente.

Another visit to this local chippie, the food is always cooked fresh on the spot for you and the portions are great. The chips are never greasy and cooked just right in my opinion. Keep up the good work John and the team.

Sausages & Chips... The best meal in the world, for me! And really good Chip shops are not always easy to find. The sausages here are DELICIOUS! ...quite possibly the best I've ever had. And trust me when I say this: If you order a large portion of chips... Either make sure you're sharing it, or you are VERY hungry. I've never seen anything like it! Some large portions can be, less than they should be. But here... I began almost regretting my decision as I watched them serve them up. I ordered 3 of them, for 3 people. Oops! But it wasn't a mistake going here... Simply delicious. Plus really friendly staff. That always helps!

The Cod and Chip's at Old Nick's is, well, there are know words I can think of, you'll have to taste it your self's to appreciate the taste, I'm Hooked.

We don't have a chippy near us but it's worth getting in the car when you fancy some real chips to come here, even with the train crossing. I bring a thermal bag to keep the food warm in case I have to wait for trains. The service is always very pleasant and quick and you always get a good portion for your money. Definitely recommended.

Have used this chippy many many times under its various owners. John who has been there for many years now is always on the fryer and gets the food spot on. I'm not actually a fish eater so I regularly consume his southern fried chicken or the chicken sandwiches. The sandwich patties are pure chicken breast, none of this processed rubbish. Keep up the good work.

The biggest challenge for a takeaway is to be consistent. Old Nicks always serves top quality food that never disappoints.

Although this is no longer run by the original Old Nick (no, not THAT one, Nick John who is a local character and a half), it still maintains his high standards:Good fishGood chips, andGood chat.What more do you want?
