A pleasant cafe without outside tables in Wisborough Green. Decent sandwiches. Had been told by others of rude service, but had no issue myself.

Driving along the A272 takes you through a quaint Sussex village of Wisborough Green. Tucked away opposite the village green is the Old Mill Cafe. A great place to stop for a coffee and lunch. I have to say the coffee was excellent, and I can recommend the Bacon sandwiches, served with crusty bread. Good to place to stop for a break. Of course being a cafe there is more than sandwiches to choose from.

A really fabulous place with friendly owners and amazing food! I had ravioli which was delicious and enormous! My friend had the lamb burger which I just had to taste as well and that was without doubt the best lamb burger I've ever tasted. Great and quick service from the hosts and all reasonably priced. There is parking at the front where you can also sit and eat if you prefer.

We found this cafe really nice with a friendly owner, who judging by some comments on here doesn't suffer fools gladly and why should he! The sandwiches and coffee were very nice and fresh. don't be put off by the negative comments and also be aware he is closed on Monday and Tuesday (although on this site it says only Monday.)

The cafe is also a deli stocking many excellent quality Italian products. If you happen to be passing, then I highly recommend that you stop.

Three of us turned up Sunday as a cafe stop for our cycling trip. The first thing I noticed was the prices had doubled since I last visited two years ago so I mentioned this to the owner when he served me and he was most rude and his exact words were "come next week and they will be 25% higher still" I had egg on toast and a cappuccino and it cost me £12. I apologised to the guy on paying if he thought I was being rude and suggested it is the same everywhere lately. He dismissed me summarily saying "just pay me so I can get on or I'll be closing soon". 30 minutes later I had to take the cappuccino back to him as it was stewed totally and undrinkable, the worst I have ever tasted. I don't know if this was a deliberate ploy but he smelt the coffee without a word and as he went behind the counter to make another one I suggested I had better have a coke instead. No further words were exchanged when he collected our food dishes but it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience and having visited this cafe many times over the years it was a typical experience and I only ever go there on sufferance with a group but never again. The joke was the guy said to me originally "if you want to play greasy spoon prices then there is one just up the road" but then served me the dregs for coffee. I must admit I remembered this man from many visits with my cycling club and I have witnessed his rudeness many times to others and cannot believe the guy is still in business as once met never forgotten. I should add that the young waitress is exemplary.

Nearly £7 for a sausage sarny is a little steep, so ordered with high hopes. When it arrived we could smell almost immediately something wasn’t right but just presumed it was the drains. Actually the meat had either gone off, or simply not been refrigerated. I guess being a touristy type of cafe for folk mostly passing through or in silly Lycra suits you can get away with serving out of date food. Fortunately not being a local I will not be subjected to risking food poisoning here again.

Typical Italian talk talk talk about how great everything is. This I have heard often enough in Italy and have no problem with. Its there custom. Too bad the food was under par ( I cook better at home) and very expensive. 12 pounds for a piece of quich with salad is not cheap. Too bad the bottom was not cooked and it was soggy and tasteless. The salad with Basamic glaze ( ugh, sweet rubbish, use proper balsamic Viniger, but that cost money) was not pleasent.I had Tuna mayo, bread cheap white and too thick, salad not special and again, crap sweet balsamic glaze. And my bread was wet from the salad. So a quich, a sandwich, a coffie and a lemonade....Cost 25 pounds!

Think a cafe with proper food, the ambiance of a decent tea shop and a touch of Italy. I believe the owner is Italian and whilst this is not an Italian restaurant there are touches both in some meals and a huge selection of luxury Italian buiscuits, chocolates and nice things to buy and take out ( some would make nice presents). I had a full English breakfast last time which was top notch, I don't know anywhere within 30 miles where I could get a better coffee. We get to visit this café once a year while en route to Chatham for a Badminton Tournament. It is run by a wonderful Maltese gent who really knows how to interact with customers and deliver great service - and food! It has something of a Mediterranean atmosphere and along with eats has a good range of Italian themed deli items including prosciutto along with a variety of olive oil products and biscuits/sweets. Nice stuff. The food menu has great breakfast items\: the brunch is well worth a visit- scrambled eggs, tomato, toast and a choice of accompaniments such as bacon, sausage and smoked salmon. The portions are generous! There are also sandwiches worthy of the name - egg mayo like you would have not been familiar with! Plenty of other options too. It is a café, not a full restaurant. All stuff is prepared to order. When you order a pot of tea it is a proper item and willingly refilled. No stingy offerings here. The café is in the delightful village of Wisbourough Green across from the cricket pitch. Some parking although there is on road parking close by and we have never had a problem. Public loo across the road.Café is closed Monday only. If so there is a pub across the road that serves good stuff but is more of a restaurant. We do not live close enough to visit more frequently which we certainly would.A good bit of outside seating for smokers and good weather.

What exactly constitutes "Brunch" ? Well according to the overrated in fact below average "café" (THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND THEY ARE NOT A RESTAURANT) one egg scrambled two slices of white bread waved at a toaster and a supermarket tomato cut in half and griddled is "Brunch" and if you require a piece of bacon or perhaps dare to ask for sausage then they are bolt on very expensive extras. Cost for two very poorly presented and undercooked bolt on brunches £22.00.. that's one scrambled egg sausage bacon and bread with a cup of tea each .... DISCUSS.. and for the record only one of us had the sausage. On the plus side the waiters were polite and efficient.

We were told no problem! When we arrived about 3.05 one of our party went into the cafe to say that we had arrived and after about 5 minutes a man came out and said that we were late and that the kitchen was closed - in spite of it being advertised that the kitchen closed at 4.30. It was obvious that our custom was very unwelcome especially as he said he would have to make the sandwiches himself! The tea itself was very nice - even though the sandwiches were like doorsteps! The teapot for 4 didn't contain enough to serve two cups per person. So we ordered another pot. Pity we didn't ask for hot water and use the old tea bags. The cost of the new pot was £8.40. Overall a bad experience and would warn anyone contemplating a visit - don't be late and take your own teabags and just ask for hot water!!

My sisters and I treated my mum to a cream tea for her birthday. We thought the cafe was very quaint and the owner/staff were very attentive and nice. When we arrived we told them none of us drink tea so they offered us alternative drinks. The sandwhiches were lovely, filled to the brim and made with thick bread which was great! The cakes were also nice but different to what i have tried before. The scones were lovely with the jam and clotted cream but the only downside to the scones was that they had sultanas and cherries in them which i don't like.(would have been nice to have a couple of plain ones to have a choice) So had to take them out before i could eat it, but otherwise it was a very pleasant afternoon, with lovely views and very attentive, pleasant staff/owner. Would recommend.

Excellent! As a vegetarian, I was asked beforehand what types of sandwiches I like. What was served was amazing - a wonderful platter of mozzarella, tomato and pesto, brie and chilli chutney and egg sandwiches followed with warm scones, tea and Italian pastries. Lovely family business and service. The only thing I would change is that they didn't provide a toilet and so those with mum's or grannies with weak bladders may need to consider whether they want to visit the public toilet nearby if coming here.

Despite the less the Summery weather, my Mum & I have just had the most delightful afternoon tea at the Old Mill Cafe. The premises are quaint & well located, near the village green. Had the weather been better, it would that been nice to sit outside. However, indoors was equally enjoyable. The staff were friendly, kind & accommodating. The meal comprised of a choice between tea or coffee, a selection of lovely sandwiches, fabulous, homemade fruit scones & a variety of cake & pastries. This final tier proved too much, so the waitress was happy to package up the remainder, to take home! All in all, I can highly recommend a visit here & look forward to trying one of the other choices on their menu.Thank you!

Used a Groupon voucher for the afternoon. Superb afternoon tea consisting of a selection of sandwiches, scones, jam and cream and sweet cakes. Plenty of tea plus refills. Very pleasant staff and owner. Nothing too much trouble. Will definitely be returning again to sample breakfast and lunch. Very lovely setting being able to see the cricket on the green.

Chef Ravi rose magnificently to the curry challenge! I managed to down about half my venison and prawn curries, served with rice and condiments, but luckily my companion finished his grilled skewer and demolished the rest. Terrific to have authentic Indian food available in Graffham (on special request). Bravo to the the White Horse for extending its excellent range.

My wife’s aunt and cousin enthused about this pub so we decided to have lunch with them on a Thursday in November. The pub is signposted from the main road and is down a narrow lane to Chidham with passing places at intervals. The car park at the back is not so large so many visitors seem to park in the village. Virtually every table was taken which is always a good sign for mid week dining. The four of us had a variety off of dishes and my seafood tagliatelle was delicious. We were very impressed with the speed of service from the two lovely ladies and lively atmosphere of the pub. The portions are quite large so if you have a smaller appetite we would recommend their small portion menu. My wife’s cousin recommended the mussels which were not on the menu the day we visited so we must return to try them. A very enjoyable lunch catching up with old friends too.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..

So disappointed by this place . First visit and won’t be returning! Ordered Avo on sourdough with poached eggs . Asked for the eggs to be well done . It wasn’t sourdough but cheap white bread . Eggs were runny so asked them to redo . 2nd attempt the eggs were still runny so my partner ate it . Large coffees ordered and just a normal sized cheap mug and not very hot . £17 totally wasted . We also ordered a croissant which was the only thing acceptable. Customer service - zero! Young staff who don’t care , smile or make u feel welcome . They need training asap or replacing . Us customers pay their wages - at least earn if . Doesn’t cost anything to be helpful or to smile . Will NOT be returning .
