Excellent staff. Very friendly and helpful. Really appreciate how dog friendly the place is but hate the fact we got charged for asking for gravy for my roast. It supposedly came with gravy but you could hardly see any apart from a tiny amount on the beef. I find this kind of thing very off putting and meagre to gain an extra couple of pounds. Leaves a bad taste when you're already quite a lot for what I have to say this time around was quite average quality. The best thing was my mums steak pie. Not sure we’ll make the effort to drive 30 minutes to visit again sadly.

We visited Easter Sunday to try the Tom Shepard Great British Menu Pie. This pie was amazing, In Glasgow we have Butchers Steak Pie with puff pastry to have a Pie with Shortcrust Pastry goes a bit against the grain but wow the filling of beef, onions and wonderful pastry is easily one of the best pies I have eaten. The filling is so tasty, I was very disappointed with the mash potato very dry and unappealing, very much like 1980s school.dinners this is not really a criticism of the Old Gatehouse, Every restaurant I have ever eaten in has always served dry mash potato cooked hours before service. We also did not receive some items that were on the menu as accompliments, No Kale no mangetout and no explanation as to why they were missing, This has happened a few times at the old gatehouse, we really don't mind things running out or can't be served but please don't just ignore the fact. Overall we do love visiting the Old Gatehouse and we will definitely return as the staff are lovely with their service. We also want to eat the Tom Shepard Pie again.

Our 1st time here. It's advert says it is famous for it's Best Pies, but their steak pie was overcooked, with burnt meat and it needed a steak knife to cut through the brick hard pastry. No check after the food was delivered. Complained at the end only to be told it should have been sent back at the start, so there was no offer of removing it from the bill. The mixed grill was fine, so 2 stars for that . Nice place, but poor pies.

The food was good, as always. The bar was noisy (very loud children on next table. However, the server (Sid) was excellent. He was professional, helpful, attentive and simply fun. He is an absolute star for your venue and made our evening!

Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Booked in the dog friendly section and the staff couldn't have been any more helpful and attentive especially as I had a large puppy with me. He can definitely recommend the ice cream from the dog menu. I would definitely recommend here if you're looking for good food and somewhere dog friendly.

The deserts are absolutely rubbish Crumble was the most tasteless thing I have ever had Brownie was heavy no chocolate chips dence. The prices are threw the roof never coming back I could make a better desert with my eyes shut.

We had a meal here on Sunday 23 March ‘25. We have eaten here before, never been disappointed. There were 9 of us. Amazing service from Ashleigh. Very attentive and food was great. Sometimes when it’s a bigger party food is served at different times, we all had our meal together. We had a lovely meal. Thank you.

I’m a regular at the Old Gatehouse, as we live locally. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Had great service today, as always from Sarah. Very friendly and efficient. A real asset to the team. We were a family of 6 with 3 adults and 3 kids and all fussy with changes to the menu. She got them all right which was amazing. Thanks again for a great Mother’s Day.

Really good local pub which fits all types. Whether you have children or dogs Staff is on it as they were well managed by the Manager who has his eye on everything going on . We had a meal and few drinks And all was good will return next time when I am visiting lenzie

We go to the Old Gatehouse often. Sarah was our server and she is the most friendliest person! Couldn’t do enough for us. Food was also superb. Tried new dishes, the lamb rump and pie and the sea bass. Both very tasty.

Hate being overcharged, the bluelight card discount is a bit of a farce, ordered off the 2/3 course special, menu, but at the time and unknowing to me, then charged full menu price. When given discount, worse off, than without card A fly move, but one that will mean I will never go back. All that said the staff were friendly and the food wasn't bad, but I cannot recommend. I hate it when places are fly to make a few more quid.

We visited the Old Gatehouse for the first time this evening, and from the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Sarah. The entire experience felt personalised, and she was both polite and professional. She even recommended the cauliflower wings, which were amazing! Her dedication to ensuring a great experience was truly appreciated, and based on this visit, we will definitely be back.

We came to the Old Gatehouse for Sunday lunch. The food was great as always and Sarah who served us was very friendly and efficient.

Midweek mean for 2 both having two courses and two soft drinks £70. Busy for midweek , really welcoming staff with some good banter which is great to see. Decent meal portion wise and prices aren't outrageous but on the top end of local places for cost. Big car park with electric chargers present for those who need them.

First visit to the restaurant tonight and was not disappointed. Came with my mate for a catch up and we were both really impressed and will be back for sure. We had the chicken/chorizo flatbread, chicken burger and caramel sundae and all were nice. Special thanks to Sarah who is a credit to the place with her warm, friendly service!
