This is our local and the staff are always so nice and friendly. Sarah served us tonight and she was great, always had a smile on her face even though it was busy, and was chatting away.

Sarah could not have been more attentive. Excellent night at the Harry Potter quiz. Great fun and lots of laughs. Cocktails delicious.

Just back from my birthday meal at The Old Gatehouse. It was First Class and Louise was amazing. So helpful, friendly and so professional as were all the staff.

It was our first time visiting after moving to the area. We brought our dog and sat in the dog friendly section. He was really well catered for. The staff were all really nice and attentive. We had a 30% off mains voucher that was delivered to our house, and this was the reason we decided to come along. It was nice to see all the activities for kids, we will definitely come back with the rest of our family. It was a nice atmosphere too, with music that wasn’t too loud meaning we could enjoy each others conversation

We came for a meal with our parents and our 2 dogs. We were well looked after and food was great. Dogs also loved their food as well. Good choice of menu, and the person that looked after us was excellent.

Sarah was an excellent server, extremely attentive and made sure my 84 year old father-in-law enjoyed his birthday. We had a table of 14 and the service was seamless.

The waitress - Sarah and of course the food made it an enjoyable experience. We visited with my Niece and young family of aged 5 and 2.5. Sarah made everyone welcome with her cheery manner but gave the kids particular attention/ distractions- colour competition in place of playing with a noisy car.. also ensuring gravy was on the side etc… a very helpful, efficient and welcoming person to have in your restaurant - an asset!

Very poor service waited over 30 minutes for the meal very small portions ordered extra chips had to ask again after 30 minutes would not go back

Have been a few times and the staff are generally always friendly and helpful. On the most recent visit Sarah, our server, was really lovely and seemed very on top of things despite the fact that it was her first shift. There’s always an enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere. The food is good but not amazing - I think it’s a little overpriced for what you get.

Absolutely amazing the way the team work together, stupendous some would say. The way David scans the room occasionally like a starving leopard scanning for its next meal, he seeped up empty plates to clear like a hawk hunting its prey and the swift and subtle shuffle was none other than the footwork of a ballroom dancer and his communication with Louise wasn’t far short of a special forces team on an operation and my god the way her hands darted across those screens was INSANE, you can tell she’s had a few games of battleship in her time and the way she’d make her way over to tables to clean MY GOD you’d think you were watching a rugby 7s game, the agility on display was absolutely unreal. David and Louise worked in such unison it brought a tear to my eye

Dined at the Old Gatehouse when in the area with family, great service and great food. It was a nice hot day so the garden outside was full, great atmosphere and the staff all had a smile on there faces. Definitely recommend.

The Old Gate house is quickly becoming my new favourite place to go for lunch and dinner with my dog. The food is great and I'm addicted to the halloumi fries. The Sunday roast is great too. What takes it to another level is the dog menu with a full 2 pages of treats for pampering your pet. The staff are lovely and always helpful and friendly. I’d definitely recommend

Food was lovely, staff pleasant. Only negative; very loud , family of eight nearby, constantly shouting and singing, allowing their child to freely run around, spoilt the relaxing ambience, could barely hear our own conversation at times

Morgan’s favourite place to visit, getting lots of attention and treats! We visit on Sunday for the doggie market and it was fabulous, we stock up on treats from Perfect Pup Pals and Flynn’s Favourites. Great place with great food and friendly staff!

Went there to have a drink. The cocktails were great! The price-performance ratio is also right. The only point: You can no longer order snacks after 9.00pm... you can only get chips if you want. However, it is probably common in Scotland

Visited for Sunday lunch and, while we had our own dog with us, whom we keep under control and ensure we abide by the rules set in place, our experience was really spoiled by a selfish couple at the next table completely ignoring the rules in place with their own dogs. Not only were their three dogs on their chairs and table, but they consistently barked and went for fellow diners and their well behaved dogs throughout our time there. We couldn’t hear ourselves speak. I’m unsure what the point is in the Old Gatehouse having the Dog Rules board in place when not a single member of staff did anything about this blatant ignoring of the rules. It ruined what should have been a pleasant lunch with family. It also stopped us from having desert and additional drinks. When my husband mentioned the issues to staff upon paying the bill, it was even more disappointing that he didn’t receive a single response to the complaint. The food was lovely, but this apparent disregard for other diners comfort and enjoyment really puts us off returning here. The staff should have taken action today. It was a real shame and lets this place down.

The Old Gatehouse is a great family pub / restaurant which recognises that dogs are a very important part of many families. The staff are great, very friendly and attentive and if you’re in the dog friendly area there’s lots of attention for your furry friend too. In addition to the ‘dog stations’ there’s dogs biscuits and even a dog menu so the whole family can eat together. There’s plenty of room for those without dogs plus outdoor tables and a play area for kids. The atmosphere is good, the place is very clean and well kept and the food is excellent.

Every nice pub. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a breakfast and it was fantastic. Beautifully cooked and presented. Good value for money. Had a great to.w here. This was my first visit but will be back again without a doubt. My only criticism is that would have liked more real beers to be available. Other than that Marstons have got it spot on. Thos is a little gem

When we arrived it appeared reasonably quiet, so thought we wouldn’t have too long to wait for our Sunday roast, it ended up almost a 40 minute wait which is not acceptable, especially when the restaurant was not too busy. We could not fault the food, it was lovely but it put us off waiting on a dessert. I don’t think we will be rushing back.

Only went because we can get the dog in but over £10 for a rose wine/soda is a bit much.

The family came here for the Sunday roast and took our beloved pooch. They also have a dog menu so he got his Sunday roast too! It was chopped up into lovely little pieces for him and he devoured it. For dessert, we got him the doggy cookies. They’ve thought of everything! Food was good, service was impeccable, the waiters were polite and attentive. Would I come back? Absolutely!!
