Always a pleasant visit with my little dog & my friends service is always excellent we never have complaints

Great food, Service a little slow (probably due to being busy) but had much worse elsewhere.

Friendly staff and very welcoming! Thank you to Neil for spoiling my pup! He loves coming here and getting treats! The new dog menu looks fab and Morgan loved the pumpkin cookie! The food is always piping hot and delicious and drinks spot on!

We have a lovely meal with a few drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful as always, and our food was fab.

All staff were so friendly and accommodating, fast service and food tasted amazing.

Nice and reasonably priced decent food

Went for lunch on a Thursday. Manisha our waiter was brilliant, drinks did take a wee while to come out (one person working the bar for the whole place) but food was good. Dog and child friendly. We’ll be back.

Food disgusting, got told they changed suppliers but no excuse for bad cooking or having to wait because we complained. Would advise going back to old supplier because food was far better. At the moment I wouldn't advise people to eat here!!!

Tonight, Saturday, the restaurant where l was sitting was a bit chilly. The menu has changed but the meal l like is still there.

Visiting family in surrounding area and decided on an evening meal out. Got a dog friendly table and highchair for the GChild. From ordering to paying was a breeze. The sharer starter was brilliant,my seabass, lovely and other family members were very satisfied. My partners Watermelon & Feta was great,however it was lacking in the Feta amount to say it was £14.29. Great range of beers. Lauren our server and the bar staff were great,Thanks. Maybe a breakfast this Easter before we head back down South.

food was good, but service needs improvement, there was a QR code on the table to order but that didn't work. we weren't told how to order or where to order, ie at the bar or table service, we had to eventually asked how to order and the person said at the bar or i could take it if you want, we gave the person our order had our meal and left, unsure if we will return.

We decided to give it a try today and we were not disappointed , the food was great and the fact that we could take our two dogs in with us was a great bonus, the staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much to ask.

Lovely place, even better staff. Okay choice of food, not a great variety but it was delicious. Accidently gave us wrong drinks.bit easily changed over.

First time visiting today and was extremely disappointed. Whilst the staff were extremely friendly, the quality and portions of the food were not great for the money. Such a pity as the place looks great, is dog friendly and had a good wee play area outside. Have been to the stables recently and for the difference of a pound or 2 the food quality was by far better there. Would even prefer Wallace well farm for food to be honest and never thought I’d say that. Unfortunately the likelihood of going back is very slim which is a pity as it has loads of good points, mainly the friendly staff and looks the part.

Front of house are good . Waited 45 mins for starters then left before main course and picked up a Chinese on the way home.

I’m a regular at the Old Gatehouse, as we live locally. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Had great service today, as always from Kevin, very friendly and helpful. I was apparently the first person to try the chorizo truffle macaroni cheese today from their new menu, and it was delicious. I’m a huge Mac and cheese fan, and often find they are never cheesy enough for me. But this one was perfect. Thanks so much for the lovely food and service.

We love going to the old Gatehouse for food. Beautiful venue, very cosy, staff are always friendly, the food is always delicious and all very reasonably priced. The old gatehouse has something for everyone.

We were welcomed at the door by Kevin, who was his usual cheery self. All staff were pleasant, polite and helpful. Service was good. We both enjoyed our food and drinks.

I live locally and often choose to go for breakfast/coffee at the Old Gatehouse. In fact for breakfast I would never choose to go anywhere else locally. Friendly. Efficient. Good food. Sometimes wood fire. Dogs to enjoy. Choice of seating. Feels like 'your local happy place' to be!

We booked the Boxing Day festive menu, very impressive service and lovely relaxed meal, portions very generous and so much so that the desserts couldn't be finished, how often do you say that after a festive menu.

Great atmosphere on Christmas Eve. Staff are so nice and accommodating with kids. All plates were cleared and the kids meals are great. Love it and the best local restaurant by far. Thank you!!

A bit pricey for what you get. Chips were cold, ice Creams were full of ice. Steak was great but quite small not sure it was 8oz. Service was excellent.

Staff are amazing and so friendly. We attended the Breakfast with Santa event for dogs and loved every second. Food was top class. We came from 35 mins away and definetley would come back

Food & service was great. We all enjoyed our meals & three of the party had burgers & commented that they were absolutely delicious.

Always great service at The Old Gatehouse. We were there for lunch celebrating my mums birthday and we love the lunch menu. Everything looked and tasted fantastic. We didn't feel rushed and had a lovely time.

The place is lovely, staff very attentive friendly & professional. Food is nice and hot. Only thing lets this place down is the screaming, tantrum weans that weren't controlled. If that was a dog barking they'd be asked to leave. Spoilt a quiet family meal. Not the restaurants fault though.

Had a Sunday dinner here with my husband. Was amazeballs. Food and staff were fabulous

Wee booked very last minute manager gave us a table suitable for my husband as he can’t walk far ,meal was delicious it was the Sunday roast plenty of it and piping hot staff where all very pleasant will definitely be back

After a few days of being ill, just spoke to my sister and she has been the same. We went here on Sunday and both had the pie, must have got food poisoning as that was the only time we were together. My nephew had something different and was ok. Been here before a few times and everything was fine. No alcohol was taken.

The great food, relaxed atmosphere and more importantly the amazingly friendly staff are the reason my family and I have been regularly coming here since it opened. David, Ian, Kevin, Neil , Lynsey and all the rest of the team are always so welcoming! Never been disappointed with any of our visits and looking forward to having breakfast with Santa for the 5th year in a row soon with our grandson x

My hubby and I love coming here we enjoy the food the coziness of the place. I come here often with family and friends. Our next visit will be with friends celebrating our friendship as we’ve known each other over 40years .

Great place. Massive starter, had to leave some of it to keep space available for my main. Nachos and a burger, definitely recommend. The staff and service throughout were great throughout

Iain (hope thats the correct spelling, sorry if not) was amazing managed to squeeze the three of us and our dog Roger in fir a quick supper before the reservations came in. He was fantastic, we all had steak- even Roger ! We even managed to squeeze in a pudding! Great food, great staff and really friendly staff ! Can't wait to go back!

Eve was fantastic! Very polite and patient, even got us a free round without question after a long wait for food. Definitely coming again. (Give Eve loads of money and stuff she's great)

Had lunch at the gate house wasn't too busy for midweek . Service was a bit slow only two serving . Food was good and it was hot. Good choice of food and the lunchtime menu is not expensive.

Just discovered this lovely little country style pub/restaurant. Such lovely decor. Choice of eating inside or out. Also covered area outside, to deal with Scottish weather lol Very dog friendly areas. With fresh water, bowls, blankets and toys. I was only in for a drink but all the food going past looked delicious so dying to get back. Sadly was a bit chilly even with the coal fire, so if heating could turn up then that would be great thanks Wheelchair accessible thru out. And staff very helpful and friendly Definitely a must to visit

Fantastic find and fantastic food great service and helpful staff

Great food but omg the service is slow. Mains took 45 mins and dessert over 30 mins. Seems to be that they have all their staff on the bar and only one in the restaurant.

We had pleasure of another dining experience at Old Gatehouse and thoroughly enjoyed this visit. Service was spot on and Lindsey was so attentive and helpful. Our meals were piping hot and did not have to wait long for drinks and food to arrive on a busier Friday evening. Bacon and cheese burgers so tasty grilled to perfection. We would definitely recommend a visit as this is the best pub restaurant in the area. Great staff and cosy atmosphere in pleasant surroundings.

The steaks are fantastic, cooked to perfection. The staff were great and service was excellent.

Always love our visit to the Old Gatehouse... the food is good (especially the buttermilk chicken burger - it's absolutely unreal!), good value, and a great drinks selection (especially Camden Hells on tap!). The service is always great, last night we were served by David (I think) who is always very friendly, great with our kids and even booked our taxi home for us, and also the manager Ian who is always so approachable and accommodating. The child's play area is brilliant and we try to get along as often as we can. Love it!

Friendly and efficient service from all the staff. Doggy menu was available if you visited with your dog. Ours had rump steak! Our menu was quite varied with a lot to choose from. My prawn cocktail was delicious with nice large prawns.

Service was excellent and the food delicious. Big improvements in menu choices have been made and options are much better in our opinion. Starter of arancini (mushroom) was delicious, as was the buttermilk chicken tenders. I would recommend going for a pleasant evening midweek meal, at a decent price - good standard of pub/bistro food.

We booked for a surprise birthday party and the whole experience was fantastic, the team were lovely and the food was delicious! Reasonably priced and nothing was to much bother. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed the evening. Lindsey, our server was amazing and provided the best experience. We would definitely return.

We have lunch at the gatehouse every Thursday after attending Baby class. Lindsey makes us feel so welcome and takes great care of us. She sets up a large table with high chairs and jug of water. She makes us all feel so welcome which is not the case in most restaurants with a large group of babies! Really fantastic service! Thankyou for making our lunchtimes so much easier!

Visited the Gatehous for dinner recently. Food was great. Impeccable service from Mia! Will be back again!
