Incredibly rude staff, turned us away despite over a dozen empty tables because of a stupid policy and was so unnecessarily rude about it, don't come here unless you want awful customer service

Dog friendly which is great as we have a dog. Unfortunately another customer allowed their dog on the seating and the dogs feet on the table in front of bar staff and nothing was said. The food was disappointing I had Penne Arrabbiata the chicken was chewy and luke warm as was the pasta the sauce was runny. Was never asked how the meal was so will just vote with my feet.

55mins is to long to wait for normal Sunday lunch, when it came it was over cooked.

We went for a family meal. There were 12 of us, including young children. We were served efficiently and attentively. The food for everyone was delicious and we had a lovely evening.

Absolutely beautiful food & fantastic portion sizes. It's more than we'd like to pay for a meal but you definitely get something special. We'll certainly be back!

Me and my boyfriend came for a meal yesterday 21st of September 2024 staff managed to put us in for a table even though they where busy which was really appreciated and Food was spot on and taste amazing thank you for a wonderful service

The food is absolutely incredible, we tried a few places unsuccessfully on our walk from the hotel to here and we're very glad because we had the best meals in a lovely relaxing environment. Would highly recommend 👌🏻

Relaxed pub/restaurant. Lots of options, large normal menu and then about 3 or 4 specials to choose from too. Great with kids. We did have a small problem with one of our meals but the staff sorted it quickly and with a friendly manner for us and removed it from the bill. No harm done. Great team of people, would go back if we were back in the area.

Atmospheric place and very tasty food

We went for a later sitting of Sunday roast (2.30) and it showed unfortunately... Sunday roast was disappointingly dry and overcooked with chewy lamb and flat Yorkshire puddings. Cake for dessert was heated for some reason and as such the buttecream/ganache had melted away.. But did still taste nice so I was fine with it. Service was friendly and efficient and atmosphere decent especially in the main pub as football was on so lots of people. Go for an earlier Sunday lunch and you may have a better experience than us

Been here for food many times. In fact this is our go to destination for food when in Ulverston. Staff are friendly and the food is really good. Dogs ate welcomed in the bar area and when the weather is good the outdoor area is a great place for food and a drink

Good food, only 1 real ale, Footy on maybe 8 TV sets..tells a tale !

The food was really good. The service was so kind and helpful. I had am issue with me order, and they were happy to swap the sides for me. The Cumberland pie was delightful 🙂

Just a random choice to go for a meal on the last day of our holiday and wow what a gem! Beautiful restaurant area, staff were so lovely and friendly but the food....oh my goodness! I had the veggie burger and wasnt expecting much but was so flavoursome. Lovely. My husband had the seabass and said it was cooked to perfection, paired with amazing flavoured noodles. Thankyou for a lovely meal 🥰

Lovely pub, staff very attentive and friendly. We had a Sunday roast the meat was perfect however the veg was a bit too al dente for me. More crunch than crisp . Will definitely visit again , will ask for well done veg next time.

Called in today on bike ride, excellent friendly service, the food was delicious, great place and lovely atmosphere.

Been coming in here regularly with my polecat for the last 9 years and it's been great but now it's under new management and I was told I wasn't welcome in a rude way after I travelled a fair distance to come for dinner here and the place actually looked like it's gone down hill a little dirty and staff were rude so I'm deeply upset as it was always a place I have wonderful memories of

We visited as a family of 6 including 2 children. Absolutely lovely place. Warm, friendly and beautiful food 😋 children were happy as were the adults. Decently priced for fantastic portions. Fabulous evening with fabulous food. Deffinitley recommend.

Hadn't booked to eat, but friendly staff accommodated us even tho' they were busy. We had Cumberland pie which was very tasty and a sizeable portion. Felt like I'd eaten when I left. Good choice of meal options, even though they'd run out of the carvery, not that we were bothered. Would certainly recommend a meal there

We were staying at the nearby Premier Inn but didn't fancy the food there so searched online for somewhere nearby and the Farmhouse popped up. So after a wet morning at the local zoo on Thursday we decided to try out the Farmhouse on the way back to the hotel, WOW, we couldn't decide so we both had the Cumberland pie it was absolutely delicious! So much so we returned on Friday afternoon and both had the Catalonian Chicken, again absolutely delicious, if we are ever up that way again we'd definitely go back there

Went for the Sunday Roast and I had brisket. All the food was delicous I just thought portion size was a tad small. Everything else was spot on!

Unfortunately, it's disappointing. After a 50min wait for food, my 10yr old sons medium steak came back more than over done, and my other sons order was only half right. The manager came over to see what the problem was, offered to replace the steak but couldn't say how long it would take. No apology was offered and not even an offer to reduce the bill. Overall a poor experience, especially given both issues were for the children's food and no remorse was shown.

Always a good place to eat, family friendly but without being overrun, everybody seems to fit in here. Edit: fabulous salt and pepper squid starter from the specials board soon going on the new menu apparently - we'll be back again soon then as that was delicious

visited on the last day of our holiday. Was warmly welcomed and shown our table. Orders for food and drink was taken quickly. Food came in good time & when it arrived, it was very nice. I had the farmhouse burger & for me, the Chicken was a little overcooked, otherwise it was fine. also had some puddings which were incredible. Overall, a great meal!

Service was amazing. The guy was really polite and helpful. Food portion sizes are really good! That nachos dish for a starter was massive. We will be back I'm sure of it.

Staff VERY helpful, pleasant and attentive. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Food not to be missed. Started with crispy salt and pepper belly pork bites mmmm yummy. I enjoyed the Cumberland pie immensely. The Cumberland sausage was described as being absolutely delicious.

One of our favourite places for eating food always good had meny birthday party's there can't fault it staff always helpful and the manageress.

Went for some lunch with family. The food was excellent with good sized portions. A good choice of options to select from. Service was good although a bit of a wait for our order but the restaurant was busy. The surroundings were pleasant and clean. Even though the dining area was busy it wasn't too noisy. It was a very relaxing lunch. I wouldn't say it is cheap but as a treat it is worth it. The restaurant does have its own small carpark. If it gets full you can park on the main road just outside.

We have passed this place many times but we decided to give it a try this afternoon for Sunday roast. They were able to seat us quickly. The food was very good the service was great. I would recommend that you give this place a go.

Found this pub on Google when looking for somewhere to eat on the way back from the beach, and I’m so glad we did! Very dog-friendly. None of the staff were concerned that we were 4 adults with 6 Labradors, and even brought 2 dog bowls full of water over to our table for them. The food was beautiful- fish and chips, halloumi burger, Cumberland pie, and buttermilk chicken burger were all amazing. Very generous portions, all piping hot, and all enjoyed. The Sticky Toffee Pudding and Nutella Cheesecake were also delicious. Thank you so much to all the very friendly staff on shift this afternoon!

Foods mediocre at best but even then its cold and slimey (that's when you get the right order) staff and management are RUDE and the place looks like it needs a good clean. Furniture is old and damaged! I was actually embarrassed as I brought family and friends who were visiting Cumbria. No one enjoyed the food. Place is just awful, first and DEFINITELY the last time I set foot in there. Won't be long and it will close up as there is nothing going for it. Anyone ever spoke to my kid the way the server spoke to some around us, they wouldn't be finishing the shift alive. Horrific place avoid like the plague.

There was a meeting nearby with more than 3,000 people, many of them foreigners like us. My English is poor and they, the service, made no effort so that we could understand each other and we had to leave without eating anything. They are not friendly to foreigners, I got the feeling that we were not welcome.

The best Cumberland Pie I have ever had. It was busy when we arrived, but we managed to find a table. Food came reasonably quick and was delicious. We will be back

Loved our visit to the Old Farmhouse. The staff were all so attentive and friendly. We both ordered the roast, which was superb. Good value as well. We will definitely be back again.

As a regular business traveller to Cumbria, I know how food should be. I was recommended this place whilst in ulverston. I wish Id seen the furniture and decor before I ordered...it was dreadful , in dire need of a refurbishment. I was put off my food thinking the kitchens were in the same state.. when I got the food, it wasn't that great. The Cumberland pie pastry wasn't cooked properly and was very pale. The filling wasn't that great either, and I had only a couple of pieces of chicken, the chips were frozen ones and I had a few that weren't cooked in the middle. Overall disappointed, especially with the price I paid. Please upgrade your seating and carpets . It's not a good look.

Went for a 3 course roast dinner. Overall very good, and reasonably priced. Choice of cider could have been as only strongbow was on tap.

We tried the sharing platter that was on the specials board. Definately recommended. We struggled to finish it

Beautiful setting literally in the middle of nowhere with fantastic panoramic views. Staff are super friendly and the Menu is very extensive. Can't wait to return.

This place is my local. If you go, try the pie. You won't be disappointed. Update: They have an offer on Sundays at the moment for 3 courses for £15. We had to check this price was correct as it's such a good offer. The portions are very large too. We definitely recommend going here. We will definitely visit again for this offer as soon as we can.

The food here is delicious and good portion sizes but on the expensive side. A large cod and chips £17 for example.

Really nice lunch, sorry we called as we were passing so no pictures but in out next call. Food was really nice we had chicken on flat breads and tue chicken was tender and moist, flat bread probably would have been better if it wasn't under tue chicken as it had gone a bit wet. However it was very nice and we sat outside in a lovely beer garden. Be careful where you sit as tables in the centre are on a slope .

Excellent service from helpful, friendly staff. Food was 10 out of 10 for taste, portion size, quality and price (less than £20 each for main course and a drink). Thoroughly recommended. If you are in the area, its well worth searching it out. You won't be disappointed.

Friendly and speedy service on a busy afternoon. Good ale and excellent chips. Plenty of tables outside to sit in the sun. Only downside was the very narrow car park spaces which meant we had to park away from the pub on the main road however not an issue as the weather was good. Have been in mid-winter too and they have a great old open fire.

Sunday roast is absolutely delicious, probably one of the best I have had, every part of the roast dinner was bursting with flavours. Followed by a decadent chocolate brownie. 5 stars!

Good value food no messing simple and effective

Really disappointed to find out upon turning up for our confirmed reservation for the bar area, due to us bringing our dog, that it had been moved to the restaurant as I didn't receive the first email confirmation and therefore they could no longer accommodate us unless we 'put the dog in the car'.

We booked via phone and were able to reserve a table in the bar area as we had our dog. The day after we booked we received a call at 21:00 saying we hadn't responded to the booking email (we received nothing and were not told of this on the phone when we first booked either) the lady said she would resend the email and did straight away. We added a card to reserve the table immediately and received our confirmation 5 minutes after the call. On the day of our booking we went to the bar and that's when it all went to s**t. They said that as we didn't respond to the confirmation email (that we didn't receive) our table was cancelled, but they called us and we confirmed, so we were very confused. They then said that they actually booked us in the restaurant area not the bar now and we couldn't bring our dog. There response was to put him in the car (lol). We were with our 15 month old daughter too, so with all this, we left (me first in a bit of a strop haha) as she was very hungry. All in all, a place that we definitely won't be visiting again anytime soon.

Dreadful! Ordered coffee which came cold. No sandwiches that were appropriate at lunch time . Loud football commentary and given horrible table. Does not suit Ulverston as has zero charm!
