Really lovely restaurant and excellent service

Satisfied my craving for shawarma, good value and portions are generous.

Ordered on Uber Delivery. The food arrived 49 mins later than the estimated time..plus it was cold. When called the restaurant they apologised to say they busy and the driver has left 5 mins before with the food. If he left straight from the restaurant, the food was just cold. It doesn't help someone like me after a hard week at work and to pay extra charges for delivery and food and still can not get the best service. They are my favourite restaurant but their delivery is bad. To eat tasty food, you just have to wait patiently but will get cold food... so spend another 10 mins warming it up!!!!!! I'll take it as not one of my best days.

We ordered chicken shawarma with rice, and the rice was amazing! They give plenty of salads! Kids loved their heart shaped falafels and flat bread with hummus. There is no loud music, which is comforting to ears!

Customer service was brilliant, very kind, helpful guy. Excellent food. We had a selection of starters, all very fresh and authentic, especially the hummus beiruty and the Batata hara, Baba Ghanouj, Warak Enab very generous portion. The mains were all delicious, syrian kofta, falafel wrap and chicken burger. Amazing drinks, the Adani Tea, old Damasus herbal tea and Old Damascus coffee served in a cute, eastern silver teapot. Lovely small place, authentic decor, love the Dr Who phone box door at the entrance. Thank you.

The platter was generous but I didn't really like the taste, I mean it could be better comparing to other restaurants I been eating in.

While Marmaris jacked up their prices these guys remain more reasonably priced.

After a bad experience in Bayt Al Yameni this evening, we came here and ordered Tabowleh salad with mixed grill and Kubeah(showen in the video) we didn’t eat as showen in the video After we found a hair in Kubeah. The staff were so unprofessional, we told him there is a hair in the food then he said “ohh hair” and left us. We had to speak to the manager, Which left us as well. We felt disgusting and we’re not able to finish our meal after we found the hair and horrible service provided. We left without paying for the food, we didn’t eat, which was fair. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Maybe because it was Tuesday, the restaurant was empty, or maybe like us people have visited and not enjoyed the food. Cool, dry chicken. Cool, dry lamb. Poor quality.

After ordering waffle desert. Waited over 1 hrs 43min . On arrival waffles was cold and hard And when I asked them why sending me cold and hard waffle. The response was sorry we are busy. If you want we can send you another one but it’s take 2 hrs delivery. I end up taking it back the waffle desert. And I had to wait over 30 min to make me another one. First time ever I have ordered from there. And this will be last time. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to order they’re desert. Avoid.

The food was excellent. Good value and very tasty. We had a sharing platter for 4 with rice and it was plenty. The only downside was the waiter was not initially very welcoming and it took 40 minutes to serve our food even though we were the only people in the restaurant. Despite this I would still recommend going here.

Food and the service as perfect. We had a nice time with my wife, we are gonna be definetly come back.

I ate the best food of my life here and we really enjoyed it with my friends, the price and treatment are excellent and the atmosphere is completely relaxing and excellent.

Delicious food. Can't rate the atmosphere as I ordered in. I ordered the M'Hamara cheese, platter meal for 2, tabbouleh and hummus with chicken shwarma. Everything was delicious. The rice was flavourful and not bland. The chicken was perfectly cooked and flavourful. The tabbouleh was fresh and delightful. The food came in good time and was well packed. Would definitely recommend.

Great traditional food with good menu options. Food is always of a high standard whether eating in or taking away. Staff are very polite & always helpful. Service is spot on & delivery service also available.

Good tasty food The wings are absolutely top notch, The shish were really tasty, I like spicy food, so I Was abit apprehensive however the flavours are really nice. Good amount food on the platter for 2, And price is pretty reasonable. Service is top notch, waiters are experienced, it shows. I ate in on this occasion, however I do order out, and it comes on time and is at perfect temp to eat straight away. This is my go to place if I don't want to risk trying a new place.

Amazing food! I've eaten here today for lunch and the food was really good. Good portions, tasty and good quality. My partner and I both enjoyed it. I personally loved the taste of the coffee and the tea. The presentation of everything was also really good. Good price, too. The place is hard to spot if you're not from the area because it doesn't catch attention from the outside but t's definitely worthwhile to get it, though. The host/waiter was extremely welcoming and did his job perfectly. Five out of five.

Very big portions, feels homely and great customer service

Food ordered from @myolddamascus Delivered well within the estimated delivery time 10/10. Packaged fairly well with no spills or leaks 9/10. Fries were just below average but definitely edible 3/10. Sheesh kebabs were fairly decent not overly juicy (a little costly in relation to quality) 6/10. The chicken shawarma was average, a decent portion size but had a strange flavour. Also. They weren't tender and juicy as would be expected 6/10. The rice was very flavoursome and my favourite part of the meal by far. A bit on the greasy side but nice nevertheless 8.5/10. The salad and dips were spot on. The salad was fresh and crunchy and the dips went almost perfectly with the meal. 8/10 The food sheikh says: not bad so give it a try!

Been here a few times now! Food is still amazing! Very fresh and full of flavours! Fries were amazing and the salad was fresh too. Service was brilliant in the restaurant, overall very happy with the visit, will definitely visit again soon!

The food is very good and tasty. I felt Portions little less. The price in the menu and groupon is entirely different. They have given double peoce in Groupon and given huge discounts, and the actual menu says almost same or less price.

Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is fairly small but very worth it. Staff are very accommodating and sat a table of twelve of us and they checked regularly to see if we had anything. Only feedback is the prices are on the higher end and staff weren't very willing to change meals to accommodate for dietary needs.

Had totally delicious lightly spiced shawarma chicken on a bed of moist saffron rice, with salads and dressings. Large portions..and was able to bring home what I couldn't eat. I also bought a tray of middle Eastern sweets to eat later with coffee at home. Good choice menu and teas, cold soft drinks and coffees. . Food served hot, by friendly and helpful staff. Nice middle Eastern (Syrian) atmosphere...and music. Recommend.

Staircase leading up to the restaurant smells awful.

Surprisingly tasty. We had one main and lots of starters, tapas style, between two of us. We had half a spicy chicken, flat breads, cardamom rice, vine leaves, hummus, samosas, all very tasty. The place doesn't serve alcohol.

Yesterday was the first time I tryed their food and I must say it was delicious, fresh and I was grateful they delivered to the area. I had the wings, lamb chops fries and rice it was one of the best meals I've eaten in a long time

I treated my husband to a lovely meal at Old Damascus in Kingsheath. Delicious fresh hot food served with a smile. Lovely clean venue and staff very helpful. Clean toilets, the only thing is parking is on the side roads. Other than that it was a lovely venue. Will definitely return. 5*

Great place and staff are very friendly. The food is always really flavourful and fresh and a good portion size. Very nice venue in Kings Heath with plenty of seating. Does not serve alcohol but lots of other soft drink and hot drink choices.

After reading good reviews we went to this restaurant. Food was over priced and position sizes were tiny. Taste and presentation was far below expectations. Very disappointed. Only thing I enjoyed was fresh Ayran.

beautifully cooked food in an understated family friendly setting. delicious starters and mains with efficient service. recommend the shish taouk with pasta, the chicken thigh burger was succulent and spiced perfectly as was the lamb. all food came out hot and tasted fresh. we didn’t have room for dessert but the tea selection and waffles on the next table looked divine. always a good sign when arabic speaking patrons are complimenting the food. well done guys we will be back!

Nice upstairs restaurant - pleasant and laidback service, and tasty food. Fattoush was delicious and the shawarma was enjoyed by my husband. Zaatar and halloumi flatbread also delicious.

Great lil find opposite coffee number one. Good value for money on the mixed mezze platter which had crispy samosas, tangy vine leaves, creamy baby ghanouj and spicy hummus. Tabouleh didn’t sing my song but my bar is pretty high. Chicken shawarma was moist and juicy. The zaatar fatayer were heavenly. But the best part was the Adani tea in the gorgeous silver dalla, which in total I had 8 heavenly servings (no regrets, it was sensational!) What else can top up the relaxed non-pretentious atmos? Umm Kalthoum’s voice in the background... tick! Deffo recommend.

Food was Absolutely lovely and tasty.. we had omelette with chicken and veg, photo cubes mixed with sweet pepper (batata hara) , grilled aubergine with tahinia, pomegranate sauce garlic with lemon and olive oil, (Baba ghanouj)( fuul) cooker kidney beans. Breakfast meal was amazing tbh could have it any time that's how amazing it tasted! Thank you so much place is amazing! And the waiter is so polite and respectful thank you for the great service.. definitely coming here again 👍🙌

Very tasty food, but staff need to be more friendly.

The signage to this restaurant is brash neon although in fairness, a bit of Syria comes out more subtly in a few artefacts and pictures in the interior. First of all the negatives.... I turned up with two bottles of beer and the waiter said that no alcohol was allowed. No big deal but a clear note on their website to that effect would save embarassment. Also, we were served mains before our starters so we cancelled the latter although did ask for a houmous dip which we weren't charged for as recompense. On the positive side, my wife's lamb chops with rice and salad were adjudged good and my Old Damascus half a boneless chicken was excellent in a spicy sauce and although the fries were average, the tomatoes that I ordered instead of the salad were freshly sliced tickled up with some spices. So foodwise , the main courses were fine even if the mound of pitta style bread would have been nice warm. No room for pudding!

It's small cozy and clean place. The staff are friendly. They serve traditional Syrian food. Huge portions and very good value for money. My girls loved their samosas, kibbeh and dessert.

Honestly my new favourite place, the food is full of flavour but not too spicy just how I love it. Inside seating has a good layout and doesn't be busy so good if your bringing your family. They also serve amazing desserts (full dessert menu) and Tea. 9/10.

Delivery told 6:55 to 7:15, 7:30 phoned, bruskly told they busy, food on way, polietly asked if any discount rudely told no & phone put down. 7:45 food arrived, cold! When warmed up was tasty. Have ordered from here over a year ago, decided to give another chance at least this time all the food ordered arrived! Think will be avoiding this establishment in future!

It was very quiet when we went for lunch, so I don't know how things would be when they're busy. The waiter was very attentive, there was ample food, authentic tasting, well cooked and flavoursome. My brother and sister-in-law raved over the rice, how tasty and moist it was. I would definitely go there again if we're in the area. Update. My brother was in the area again and they had another meal ,equally enjoyable.

By far; the best Shawerma in town!

I'll be honest, I could not finish my portion because it was too much of it. I loved the food and will be definitely back! They also have desserts etc. Haven't stayed in though and think the restaurants including the entry staircase could do with a makeover. It is dated and worn out. My food however was lovely and a bit too salty, but I am splitting hair! Will be coming back...

I'm a regular customer here for home delivery! Food always comes piping hot, fresh and delicious! Honest people too. Once i forgot i had paid online so handed the delivery driver cash. The next day the restaurant came back to deliver the cash i had given! Honest people and brilliant food!

Lovely food, excellent service, kids loved the waffles, fresh juice was just amazing, lovely service too, nice quiet private place, we enjoyed our experience. Would definitely recommend for a quite family lunch or a nice evening meal too. I'd come again with friends.
