Old Bridge Cafe in Pembrokeshire

Hello first time visit yesterday was lovely food but appalling 2 young girls staff who was laughing very loud for some period time and nobody was telling them off working as a waitress for for many off my working life this is unacceptable behaviour stay away if you want a relaxing quiet meal .I was continplating moving outside but it was too cold so made our exit as quick as possible. Apart from that food was great.

There was much choice on menu The food was Terrible Even my 7 year old niece complain about her food

This establishment was clean airy and cooked your food fresh. The staff were uniformally and well presented and very polite. We liked the idea of building our own breakfast, a way of avoiding items you don't want or like appearing on your plate. Coffee was nice and arrived only a few minutes before the food. Food was well cooked, not burnt, and was tastey. I recommend this cafe for breakfast. Oh, and the toilets were immaculately clean.

This is the best place to eat in Haverfordwest. When I come back to visit my mum it is the place we always make sure we visit each time. I have had both breakfasts and lunches on numerous occasions. Not on one visit have we had any complaints. Freshly cooked food, delicious and local and to top that the staff go above and beyond for you. Thank you. See you very soon

I finally understand why this place is so quiet when it used to be so busy. Went to this place for 2 large breakfast with my partner the eggs came back completely uncooked so i was very discreet explaining to the waitress it wasnt cooked and instead of just giving me fresh eggs I was made to wait over 25 minutes for a new one which wasn't explained to me ! Then when the waitress brought it out after me asking about 4 times where it was and said it was completely fine before and now was it to my liking and had stated that my partners food was fine which it wasn't and the eggs being raw is how they cook them I explained we were both chefs and we understand how liquid whites are not cooked! What a ridiculous way to run any kitchen I will never darken their door step again And to add insult to injury they all started complaining about me as I was leaving to each other which I heard! So all the staff including the chef stood there and argued with me! How unprofessional!

Had the pleasure to visit this cafe yesterday not been for quite a while but very pleased it was open food is excellent staff very friendly and helpful ambience restful will definitely be back

Popped in for brunch while waiting for an appointment in town. After climbing the stairs it’s worth it with the views you get watching the river meander/rush past (weather depending). Simple menu, everything is cooked fresh so you have to wait for it. The only downside is there is no background music and it’s chilly there.

The lady who served us was absolutely lovely and the food we had we couldn’t fault. We both had two large breakfasts. Only thing letting it down was the wait time, had to wait nearly half an hour but apart from that would definitely return

We have eaten here for quite some time but, it Is now run by young scruffy teenagers who have no idea. We both had all day breakfasts. After waiting nearly an hour the food finally arrived, but my food was cold, the bacon was off. The woman cooking came up to find out who had complained and proceeded to shout at us, that she was on her own, yet two of the young staff were sat chatting behind where we were seated so they could have helped.

So on a post between my friend and I, which the owners saw because someone recommended the cafe, I had told my friend that last time I was there I found a hair in my food and my boyfriend did too. I used to love this place before it was taken over I went in today to get a drink because it is hot and the owner chucked me out because of my comment on MY FRIENDS Facebook. I NEVER said I wouldn't go back so you got that wrong!! And I assumed a drink wouldn't have hairs in it! Don't worry you won't have to chuck me out again I won't be returning not even for a drink. This place used to be busy now it's dead!!! I thought I'd give it a 2nd chance sometime with food but forget it Will be warning others too. Don't go here.

We wanted a proper breakfast on a family visit to Haverfordwest and this cafe didn't disappoint, we had some construct your own breakfasts and a couple of standard full breakfasts and they were very good. Staff were very friendly. Came back again on another day, for more of the same

We have walked past the door many times never going in. This time we entered and met a nice greeting from a cheerful lady. Chose the full breakfast which had 2 of everything. Lovely food will visit again. Breakfast is served all day.

Visited this place. Got seated fast. Nice lovely, smiley lady on service. 5 star Chips bit oily most staff are okay for a cafeteria. 3 star Wish to have a presso but it is personal opinion.

Great place to stop for lunch, lovely home cooked food. The place was spotless and the staff were doing a great job of following all the COVID restrictions. We felt very safe.

We arrived late in Haverfordwest and was desperate for a late lunch, walking around, we came across the Bridge cafe, and literally phoned from outside to book lunch. It was bright airy and clean, the staff were all following the latest COVID guidelines, and were very welcoming. The meal was freshly cooked and delicious. I had scampi and chips, and my husband chose the chicken curry, both were beautifully cooked and delicious, we later found out they were packing up for the day when we phoned and took pity on us, so we're very grateful. lovely people, lovely food

Called in yesterday after booking a table with the grandchildren. Pleasantly surprised at the transformation. Re decorated and spotlessly clean. All the precautions we expected for Covid, and staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts were piping hot and well cooked. Our seven Yr old granddaughter said it was the best breakfast she'd ever had as she could choose every item. Well done all.

Popped in for a quick bite. Always a lovely atmosphere with friendly welcoming staff. I cant fault the place. Always has and always will be one of my favourite places to take the children for lunch.

Popped in for a late lunch whilst on holiday. Spotlessly clean. Well managed regarding hygiene and distancing, and great value food.

Called in here with two family members. One of them had nearly finished his food when he found two hairs on the plate. He complained to the lady who was at the till - she laughed and asked 'ooh, did you eat them?'. Cheap ingredients - could almost see through the bacon. Sausages were an awful quality and the eggs were rubberyNever again!

Had time to kill before work one morning and hadn’t been in here since the change in management. I ordered the standard breakfast and was blown away! Everything piping hot, not greasy and just bloody tasty!! Have visited a few times since and still remains the same :) Thanks again for a lovely breakfast to fuel up before I start work, from your blue-haired newest regular!

We were having a day shopping,and my husband got peckish. We checked out the menu and found his favourite,steak and ale pie,so he was straight through the door. The restaurant was clean and tidy,the staff were really friendly,and the food was really good,and the portion sizes were huge. It was excellent value for money.

My visiting son wanted a full breakfast in the centre of town, and we ended up here. He had what he said was a very tasty plate of breakfast and I had a good sized portion of scrambled egg on toast. All served on warmed plates as is right, and very reasonable price. Friendly staff. The decor is tired, but it's clean. Good views over the river for bird and people watching.

My wife and I had cooked breakfasts here today. They were delicious, hot and of good quality food. Their prices are good as well. We will definitely eat here again. Don't let some of the negative comments on here put you off, try it for your selves.

Been a customer for years used to be fantastic place and fantastic staff, New management has seen the restaurant fall in standards small portions of food rude manager and overall poor Experience. Old staff were fantastic shame to ruin such a good establishment due to new owners not having a clue. Will not be coming back again.

We go mostly at the weekends to enjoy the breakfasts,which are freshly cooked and great for the price,and you get a lovely cup of coffee too....

One of the few places where you can get a mug of instant coffee rather than one of the complicated ones. Efficient staff served good soup and roll all at reasonable prices

Been here many times with family when come home to visit and was always good, last couple of visits they seem to be getting quieter and the portions getting smaller but on my last visit home I heard they was under new management so we decided to give it another go, pot tea for two and both decided to have lasagne, tea arrived but water wasn't very hot once poured, when she approached with our food I was about to ask for hot water but it was shoved down in front of us, not a word said and she was gone!

I ave been using this place for bite of lunch for many years, but in recent times, the prices has gone up and the quality and quantity of food had reduced. Recently, it was sold and is now under new management. My wife and I decided to check it out, but sadly things are still just as bad. We ordered a bacon and cheese panini, and despite asking for the back on to be 'WELL DONE' it still came out as if it had bee done in the Microwave, and it was barely edible. Sadly, what was once a really thriving business that you had to wait in a queue halfway down the stairs to even get a table, has become the Marie Celeste. The staff are friendly, but the quality has gone. I won't be back - especially when the competition is so fierce, and there are far better places to go.

We visited for lunch during halfterm with our two boys 9 and 10. Plenty of choice on the menu, and they accommodated one of the boys asking for a combination not on the menu!

The staff were very friendly hence the 2 Stars but the food was awful and overpriced for what you get.

I had a nice cooked breakfast here, pretty standard but tasty. It was good value and the service was friendly and quick.

Fooled by the sign outside saying 'Under new Management'. Should have walked out when we recognised the same staff. Also foolishly order fish and chips. Last time the fish was not cooked, so sent back. This time the fish tasted off. I soldiered through, wife felt ill and returned it. It also tasted like coley not cod, and was simply shop bought and heated up, not cooked from fresh on the premises.

I have had a wonderful meal overlooking the river, food was hot and delishes and good vale for money. looking forward in visiting very soon.

The waitresses were very friendly and happy to help, taking our order promptly. Service was quick and the food was nice and good quality, especially for the price.

visited here in the summer holidays, only 2 of us. wanted a quick lunch, but the waitress did warn us about the wait as they had a table of 10-15 people. this wasn’t a problem, and we expected it to be 20/25 minutes which was perfectly fine for us. 40 minutes after.. the food came. maybe more kitchen staff is needed? or just a much faster service? however, the food was nice and the waitresses done the job. i’d recommend, but consider the slow ish service.

If you are looking for fancy modern food, then this is not the place for you. The Old Bridge does decent wholesome food. It won't win any awards, but it does the job for the price you pay.

Don't go there if you're in a hurry , 40 minutes wait for two burgers and a breaded fish! Food itself is good ( albeit very basic ) , good value and the staff is friendly. I was told that they were behind because of a party of 10/12 . Well , I was a chef for over 20 years , if you're properly organised you do a party of 12 in 10/ 15 minutes ( from the moment you receive the order in the kitchen obviously )

Attracted by board advertising fish and chips for £6.50,thought well have a bit of that.

This establishment is situated at the top of some fairly steep steps. However, once there there are ample seats. The menu is fairly standard and well presented. The staff are very freindly

we went to the old bridge cafe today. 11/06/18. i had burger and chips. the chips were all dried up with mostly little crispy bits...my burger was deep fried...no very nice.. it was glistening with grease. my partner had a veggie breakfast. she failed to eat it because it was just covered in grease. i tasted some of the mushrooms and all i got was a blast of oil flavour. the place itself is very nice and clean. the staff are very friendly and polite and very attentive. i just do not like old chips and deep fried burger...i prefer mine on the griddle. i do not think that we will go back again. shame really because the place is quite nice.

The three of us ordered lunch at around 1.40 p.m. The cafe was very quiet but had to wait around 15 minutes before one of us received their food. We then had to wait another 10 minutes for the two others to be given their order. I took one mouthful of the local butchers faggot that I had order to find it was cold. I then had to wait another five minutes for it to be reheated. This time it was hot, with the chips boiling hot, as they had been I think in the microwave along with the rest of my food. As three of us did not like the chips. All in all a very disappointing meal.

Having visited the Old Bridge Cafe as a loyal customer over the years I can confidently say that I always leave with a smile on my face, excellent service from the nicest waitress I have ever met, Debbie. Highly recommended.

Had a full English with my son. Bacon was cold, and the hashbrows tasted like cardboard with no flavour. Very disappointed. And won't go again.

Had an all day breakfast. It was nice. They could only offer tinned plum tomatoes and wouldn't swap for a raw tomato which is why I've taken 1 off the rating. Also mine arrived a good 5 minutes after my wife had her food which wasn't great.

Loved eating here, have been with my parents and my children, All the times I have been here have had lovely meals never have had a bad meal from here, I loved the Jacket potato's didn't want to waste any so always took what was left home with me

The Old Bridge Cafe is one of those gems you find where the service starts with a smile followed by good food. There are great views of the River and I've always enjoyed each and every visitDel and her team work hard to ensure that the dining experience is a memorable one.I work away from home for most of the year and when I'm home in Haverfordwest I always have my first Breakfast in the Old Bridge Cafe. We had a spot of lunch here recently and I almost broke my neck going in! to be fair it did have a sign but I didn't notice it! The staff were not very jolly and we only had a sandwich which wasn't anything special. After we had been there we saw plenty of other places that we wished we would have chose.

We stopped here hoping for a nice quick meal on our way through Haverfordwest. As we are both gluten-free, we appreciated a separate gluten-free menu on the wall. That's where the posiitves ended. Our waitress was undertrained, sullen and unable to answer basic questions about the food such as what ingredients were in a basic dish. We waited nearly half an hour for food that was no doubt pre-prepared and should have taken no longer than 10 mins, especially as there were very few customers. What we were presented with was close to inedible. The cottage pie was burnt, had runny mash on top and the mince resembled incredibly bland dog food. The side salad was barely a garnish. We also ordered the chicken and chips. The chicken was ok, but the chips were dry, overcooked and again the salad was practically non-existant. The only reason we ate some of the food was that we were so hungry, and had waited so long for it. I regret having done so, as we both felt queasy afterwards. I contemplated walking out a few times while we were waiting, and the only reason I didn't was that we were on a tight schedule and didn't have time to go elsewhere.

Stopped in for a quick early lunch. The (upstairs) dining room is one large room, which makes it suitable for large parties (but could make the noise level uncomfortable). The service was quick and the food was good. We had fish & chips. Good but nothing outstanding. Somewhat disappointing is that the cafe overlooks the river, but does not capitalize on the view: the table placements don't take advantage of the view. Overall, a reasonable place for a meal.

Visited the Old Bridge Cafe many times when visiting Haverfordwest and always enjoyed. The cafe is clean, spacious and airy with pleasant, polite staff. The food is reasonably priced, well presented with good sized portions and the tea and coffee are good too. One other thing, clean toilet facilities are available for customers.

When I fist saw the entrance to the Old Bridge Cafe I was realy put off. However, I very glad I did venture inside.The cafe is quite large.It has an extensive menu which is freshly cooked and well served.I can heartly recommend the battered fish special and the omelette.The only downside is that it is not disabled friendly as there is a steep set of stairs to gain entry.

We visited on 11 August. We were originally attracted by the all day breakfast X2 for £10. However, when we looked at all the home made food on the menu, we changed our minds! Great food, large portions and reasonably priced (ours came to £15 for 2 meals and 2 pots of tea. Staff are very courteous, welcoming and efficient. Thank you

Returned the same "order" twice, unacceptable and unedible, reordered, still not great.been here many times with no problem and nice food previously. Questioned waitress who said our first/and second ordered food was cooked fresh that morning - it got sent back twice and how hard is it to muck up a jacket pot, it was about 3 days old, reheated the first time, cold the second. We ended up ordering something totally different off the menu, still not great. Waitresses dealt with this this well and could see why our food was returned. Bill adjusted to be fair but I felt I've had to write this review to give feedback as I'm sure the owner/manager would not be impressed with the standard of service/food

stopped at the old bridge café at about 14.50 very friendly waitress very prompt service shame we cant say the same about food we ordered cod and chips one with mushy peas and one with cold slaw both come with a small salad also a apple juice each.what can I say about the meal the apple juice was ok and that is the best bit.the chips were rock hard and mostly scrag ends.the mushy peas came in a chipped dish.the salad was bone dry even the cucumber.and the fish had been under a heat lamp trying to get a tan.and all for £13.30we should have walked passed.

We visit the Old Bridge on a regular basis for breakfast and never have any issues! The only minor problem is that I never get a hard-yolk egg when requested but that's just me being fussy! 2 breakfasts for £10 is a bargain for what you get!

We sat at one of the window tables and watched the gulls and a cormorant on the river just outside. The service was friendly and quick. The food was spot on, we always like the homemade coleslaw. The coffee is nice too, served in cafetieres, enough for two generous cups.

popped in for lunch as I was alone ( this restaurant is up a flight of stairs with no disabled access so I cant eat here with my husband).I had coffee which was nothing special and chicken curry, rice and chips.....curry was bland in taste - would have preferred a slighty spicier flavour, rice was also tasteless and needed no end of salt on it to make it edible and the chips looked like they were yesturdays.I have had breakfast here in the past and they have always been out of this world....perhaps the cook/chef was having a bad day today.will be a long time before I go back - if I ever do !!!

I took my in laws here in the Easter half term. thought it would be nice for them as it was there first visit to Haverfordwest. we went up the stairs placed our order which has chips for the children and cooked breakfast for us 4 adults. we waited a total of an hour before the first plate of food was brought out which happened to be an adult meal. the children had to wait a further 15minutes before receiving there small bowl of chips each. after receiving our food we were rather disappointed by the size of the meal and the fact we had an hour wait with 4children before getting any food brought out to us. If you have children you will understand that keeping children busy for an hour whilst hungry is a mission.

Had lunch with desert.Cottage pie and chips pretty good.Desert was excellent.not bad valuewould recommend a visit.staff could smile more

Was a great place to bring the family for lunch out in town. The staff where friendly and the food was nice and good priced. It also had a lovely view over looking the river :)

We visited the Bridge Street Cafe again yesterday (see my earlier review in September) under no illusions that it's basic and cheap. However the experience was so appalling that it will definitely be the last time we set foot in there, and we weren't alone with this opinion yesterday!We ordered two breakfasts for myself and my husband, a sausage panini for my son, and a jacket potato with cheese and beans for my daughter. Service was prompt enough for three of us, but my daughters potato took ten minutes AND requesting from the waitress before we got it - swimming in bean juice. Not appetising at all. It was more like jacket potato soup - floating in a bowl of juice!! Our breakfasts were spectacularly bad - fried bread sat in a huge pool of fat on my hubby's plate, mine was not so, but both fried breads were absolutely saturated and literally dripping in cheap fat. Just stomach churning. Accompanied by tinned tomatoes (not my thing but some like them I suppose - and they're cheap), and the breadiest cheapest sausages I have ever seen. Seriously I dread to think what is in them. Certainly not much meat. And as for the additives that must be there too. I felt bad I was feeding this to my son. Seriously. Oh yes, I almost forgot, my husbands breakfast plate also included two chips (none of us ordered chips....). While eating we noticed two other nearby tables also having issues. Again jacket potatoes danced their way merrily back and forth to one of these tables - much to the annoyance of the diners who kept on returning them several times for different reasons. Another nearby table had ordered curry - half of which was cold. They sent it back. It came back ages after - absolutely nuked to glory in the microwave. They said it was dried up on the edges, and the leftovers were steaming hot still as they left the table ten minutes or so afterwards. A case of the chef trying to get her own back perhaps!????!Coincidentally we all went up to pay at the same time. The chef came out to speak to the curry family, and offered no apology, just shock her head and her shoulders and walked off, leaving the woman on the till to apologise saying the customer is always right - but her colleague had just thrown that ideal out of the window with her nonchalance and utter rudeness. Fifteen people witnessed this. Fifteen people were upset by this. Fifteen people won't be back. They proudly display Tripadvisor on the back of their menu inviting you to review them. Seriously?? With a business this bad - would you do that?? Save yourself a coronary - eat elsewhere.

Very steep access with horrible brown carpet. Large canteen type feel to the place. Very pleasant and friendly waitresses. Food arrived hot and quickly. Coffees had to be requested again. I asked for cheese and tomato panninni, got ham with it, so good job I'm not a vegetarian!. Toilets very cramped and there's obviously a knack to flushing.Was very popular with families. very reasonable prices.

Upper floor cafe with steep stairs for access. Large open plan dining area, which is a little bland to say the least, and feels like caffs from the 1980's. Standard cafe food on offer, most with chips, and always served ridiculously quickly. Portions are nearly always very generous, and therefore makes it reasonable value. They shut the cafe early on most days, which is a shame as I'm sure there's a market for afternoon coffee/cake. Ingredients they use are budget, and the decaf coffee is particularly bad. Fine for a quick cheaper lunch with no expectations, but few healthier options.

We've been coming to the Old Bridge cafe almost since it opened 23 years ago and have never been disappointed, one of the wItresses has been there since the beginning and we've never seen her without a smile. The owner is friendly and always has time for a chat and you get the feeling the staff are happy in their work.The menu has a good choice, the food is plentiful and always served hot, tea and coffee are excellent and prices are reasonable. Service is quick and friendly and the cafe is large and airy with plenty of space, some of the tables overlook the river which is a pleasant place to sit on a nice day. Toilets which are kept clean are available for patrons.Will continue to visit this cafe when we visit Haverfordwest during our time staying in Solva. Long may they continue to be in business.

The breakfast was immense, tasty and excellent value for money. The service we received was second to none and the owner who was our server was very sociable, friendly and professional. We would definitely return and highly recommend this under stated café.

Visited plenty before so surprised to find hairs in one food and a very dirty ramekin in another. Couldn't finish the food after seeing these. Won't be returning in a hurry

My family and I regularly visit this lovely Cafe and feel they deserve a mention. You know you will receive excellent service when the owner remembers what you usually order and takes the time to have a chat. The food is reasonably priced for what you get and the coleslaw is amazing!!! They have just celebrated 23 years of business which speaks volumes, with some of the original staff still working there today. The 3 musketeers and wife will be returning very soon :-)

I love this place, the atmosphere is great with the river view, the staff don't bug you every 5 seconds asking if everything is ok which I love, quick service during the week, on the weekend it gets busy so you might have to wait an extra 10 minutes but not too long. The milky coffee was better then anything you'd buy in costa coffee and half the price, but make sure you get ask for the young girl with plaited hair to make it (shes the best at making them) lovely staff, very very nice girls and the little blonde one cracks me up everytime!! Its where I go eveytime im in haverfordwest and i'll carry on going!!! only problem is the stairs takes it out on the old legs and theres no lift so not ideal for wheelchair access, and just the once but they had a new girl working there and she made a mistake on our order (she was new and it was understandable) but other then that its great!! really recommend!

Friendly staff, good value food. Service was quick. Homemade coleslaw delicious! My only criticism is that some of the tables have a nice view over the river and some are against the wall. It may be better to rearrange so that more have views.

The food was horrible, and was served cold. The table and the plates were dirty, staff was okay. Go to the nearest pub, you'll find better food

Best breakfast in Haverfordwest! Very good size for very affordable price. Eggs cooked just right, which believe me seems to be a big ask in other places. Will return.

We usually visit once a month in general when we have a mission to complete a few shopping trips etc. We enjoy the large breakfasts mainly. Great filling breakfast with a friendly service in a spacious warm environment. Great treat for my kids and saves us cooking when we get home too! They don't hang about with getting your order out to you either!

i visit this cafe about every 2 to 3 the food is always good friendly staff always busy a little on the expensive side but I do not mind because the food is nice and fresh

Visited today for a 'quick' lunch which unfortunately was not such a quick stop. It was obvious from the large amounts of uncleared tables that they had been busy and there were still lots of tables full. It took over 15 minutes for our order to be taken which i wouldn't have minded if we had been offered a drink or if someone had apologised for the wait but that didn't happen. When we did order we were told we couldn't have a milkshake as they had ran out of milk...then they changed there minds and said they would send someone to get milk but only one person new how to use the till so she couldn't go....it was a little awkward and i was tempted to offer and go get milk myself to help!!! Another table had left without there full order and one of them ended up not eating anything at all. On the plus side although presentation was a little sloppy the food was nice. I just felt sorry for the staff who were clearly run off there feet. Management...you need more staff!!! Im not one to complain normally but really it was not good enough service. Sorry.
