Advertised as open only to find out it was private so you take the money of the public only to turn them away when you feel like it shame on you!!!

This place is amazing ,the pizzas are perfect and such value for money, I went on Thursday the 22nd of February, im being specific because the two people behind the bar (although young ) were truly professional and also warmly welcoming , I couldn’t help but leave a large , We’ll done both 👍

Do yourself a favour and walk on by terrible terrible never again over priced dull cold no atmosphere and not the best of service

Waited 20 minutes just for someone to take our drinks order whilst others got served before us. Gave up in the end and left Young servers with no hospitality skills. For the prices they charge I expect better. Can't see them lasting in business with this level of unprofessionalism. People are spending their money wisely now days and expect good service as a minimum.

Genuinely has gone so downhill. clearly underage drinkers in the, there in large groups and don’t seem to pay for drinks as there friends are behind the bar whilst only being 17. As soon as you step in there is no welcome and in terms of service little to none. For two drinks we had to wait half an hour and it was just so disappointing. There seemed to be no management due to the lack of delegation of the team. Wouldn’t come here again.

Went here last night for a drink as it used to be good. We found it to be very expensive, lacking in atmosphere and soulless. The three young servers looked incredibly disinterested and one of them ate a pizza in front of everyone from behind the bar. I’m afraid that this once vibrant and different place to drink is in real danger of going out of business. If a cocktail and a pint costs £18, you need to offer a lot more. A real shame. We won’t be returning.

I'd had difficulty booking and had inquired about gluten free but after 2 Facebook messages and an attempted phone call, I got confirmation of the booking and that gluten free dough would be there for a friend. On ordering the pizza, the server said he needed to check about the gluten free dough. I hadn't had chance to explain I'd requested it already. He then was at the bar area for a little while investigating. I ended up going to explain I'd had confirmation of the gluten free dough, only to be told he knew that was the case but it had been used unfortunately! He then checked if they could get some locally, which fortunately was the case. After a shaky start, things unfortunately didn't go smoothly. A drink was smashed on arriving at the table; 2 of the 3 pizzas waited a while before getting to us; I burnt my hand moving the pizza slate to a friend (there was no warning how hot it was, nor an apology); 1 pizza hadn't reached the table and remained under the light for a while so my friend ended up going to ask if it was her pizza and it was finally broughtover; cocktails arrived that were for another table and on asking for the bill, I was told we might have to go to the bar as the server didn't know how to do it. He did then get someone to bring the bill. All in all, it was disappointing. The training of staff needs improving.

Bar staff could not be less interested in delivering a good service. Bar was half empty, staff poorly trained and Bar manager utterly disinterested. Error on drinks served and young lad sent to deal with it whilst manager remained behind the bar. This used to be a fabulous place and the sky high prices were acceptable. So many better places to spend time and money. They lost a very loyal customer yesterday!

On a cold night you expect to get some warmth from inside a bar. This was cold and we needed to keep coats on and still felt cold then. We used the candles on the table to warm our hands. With the prices they charge for drinks you would think they could afford heating

Saturday 15th Oct - I was shocked at the really bad attitude of the barman. At 7.30 pm I went with my wife and daughter for a quick drink, the bar was busy as Loki next door had a private party. The barman asked abruptly have you got a table, I responded I hadn’t and he proceeded rudely telling me I couldn’t have a drink. I said we are happy to stand as I normally do & he started raising his voice getting very argumentative telling me I have never stood in the bar calling me a liar! These individual needs proper training in customer skills or totally reprogramming in how to talk to customers - After all I was with my wife and 20yr old daughter just wanting a buys drink. We promptly left and will not return. If the company policy has changed & standing is not allowed - make it clear & employ barman who are polite to customers

Terrible experience. Long delay and then served burnt pizza. In fairness they replaced one of the meals but that just meant we didn’t eat as a family together. Not busy at the time. Table of four plus our table of three so no excuses. Too much competition around to be this poor.

we had an awful experience in this place! the manager phil i think his name was has no customer service skills and is beyond rude, constantly on his phone while we were all waiting for drink and all other staff were stood behind the bar eating and chatting. the fact they have a tip jar is laughable as it was definitely not tip worthy service! would never come again and advise to stay well away from both oktogon and their sister bar skogen

Good choice or gins. Good venue Pizza not good/ wouldn’t eat here Was over cooked and tasteless. Parking is a bit of an issue in knowle which is annoying. Would return for a drink in figure

Oktagon is a nice venue in knowle. Nice decoration and good staff. Pizza and cocktails is the main attraction. Slightly overcooked woodfire pizzas and slightly on the pricy side but otherwise reasonable. Cheese was a little burnt on the pizzas we had

This was the first time that we have been here, but I must say that their choice of gin is quite impressive, however getting served is a different story. The staff seemed to be congregating behind the bar and no one was taking any orders even though we we told that they would be up to see us in a minute or so. After 15 minutes we went to the bar as nobody was planning to take our order. If the staff were better, then the experience would be better.

Went for sister's birthday with slightly fussy child, one vegan and one gluten free and they were able to cater for all. GF pizza one of the best I have had to be honest. It was a bit cold and draughty but warmed up once the requested heater was on. Good beer selection.

had a nice evening with drinks and nibbles and friends, the atmosphere is fun and the staff are helpful and on point

Went for a night out with friends Arrived early and spent a small fortune on a round of drinks which we decided to take outside into the sun before ordering food. Checked with the bar staff about what time they served until and was told 9.00. 30 minutes after we went back inside to order only to be told they had run out of dough! Asked what else was available and was offered garlic bread. Absolutely appalled as they only sell pizzas so how did they run out of pizza dough?????? Very embarrassed as friends were from out of town and had to think of somewhere else to take them to eat. Spoilt our whole evening.

Only stayed for a few drinks, but the selection and range was extensive and very good. They clearly take care of their beers and were both knowledgeable and friendly. Staff were engaging and polite.

Found this place after being told of it by a friend, admittedly the friend said it had only been open 3 months - apparently it's been there 3 or 4 years doh!

This was our first visit to a very trendy bar in sleepy old Knowle. Interesting layout and good seating either inside or out.My title is Ok to go near (OKTOGON)but don't stay too long.Very expensive drinks,very slow staff who don't seem to know why we are here.Reading other reviews with similar complaintsso therefore we will not be going back.What a shame

Horrendous customer service from ALL staff which clearly is a major factor from seeing presvious reviews. Make customers feel like there doing them a favour by being there. I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS BAR AT ALL

Love this bar, quirky fun atmosphere, friendly staff, great selection of ales, beers and wines. A little expensive but worth it for a treat night out 🥂🍹🥂

We opted for sourdough pizzas (Lunch) and they were made on the premises, served fairly promptly and with a smile.

This was the second time I’ve been to Oktogon, this time for a Festive drink after a long day at work! Tucked away, it’s accessible down a beautifully lit passageway! Leading down toward a quirky building, with trendy comfy seating and tables as well as raised bench seating. There is also an upstairs mezzanine balcony area, great to look down and watch the place buzz with life! There is also a lovely outside garden area. We had a few double Gins, each in huge bowl shaped glasses! And had my first Porn Star Cocktail..gorgeous!! The staff are all very friendly and helpful..I’ve yet to try the Food menu for their homemade Pizzas etc! A great Funky place to hang out!

Sitting here now having a lovely drink at 6-30pm, unfortunately the thumping bass music is far too loud, more like a night club?!?

Out with my friends tonight for a birthday - had a lovely meal at Beeches and I told my friends how much I love Oktogan and that we must go for a drink after our meal. We ordered 6 double drinks and one should have been with ginger ale, as it's my husbands favourite. However the barman served it with tonic - when we said we wanted it with ginger ale they outright refused to change the drink. After spending many evenings here I am so disappointed that the manageress was so shut down and so unaccommodating that she would not even replace or offer a bottle of ginger ale. I am especially embarrassed that I invited 4 friends out of the area here and the service was so inhospitable. Oktogan needs to remember to offer some accommodation and understanding for its loyal customers. Very disappointing end to our evening. I hope the owner reads this and trains his staff that occasionally there is a grey area and just a little bit of understanding for loyal paying customers should be acknowledged.

Great vibe in Oktagon. Lovely wines and gins and a great atmosphere. A real gem in the centre of knowle. Cosy in winter and sunny outdoor area for the summer

Fabulous and unusual hidden gem in Knowle.... Fantastic gin cocktails and great pizza too. Lovely decor and gorgeous outdoor area....ambience was perfect. Calming yet fun for a Sunday afternoon.

The place is great, good atmosphere and fast service.

Still some nice beers, still a nice price though. I do find this bar to be pleasant when not too busy, but when it gets crowded the noise due to all the hard finishes is just painful when trying to have a conversation with friends. It reaches a point where if you look round you can see the whole bar shouting at one another... quite comical really. The bar is nice to visit now and again, but there is better beer and cheaper beer in the village. Oh and pubs where ear protection is not required.

Visited this hidden gem yesterday for birthday drinks. Very cool venue with a wickedly tempting gin selection, which looked beautiful when served and tasted as good as they looked! Great decor with sheepskin rugs and gorgeous florals. Would make an awesome wedding reception venue!!

Went in early for pre dinner drinks on Friday. It was very welcoming after coming in from the rain outside. It has an extensive gin menu so I took recommendation from the friendly girl behind the bar.

Visited on Friday 14th and waited 15 minutes and still not served. Not even acknowledged by bar staff. Group of girls came in and got served straight away. Bar staff looked miserable and eventually we left and went to the forest in dorridge where we were greeted with a smile and prompt service. Lovely atmosphere.

A couple of drinks on Friday night to unwind, quirky venue tucked away from the high street, really great place, lots of gin choices if this is your tipple, not cheap but drinks are nice and service is good. Good wine selection and real ales, my husband loved the one he chose - a 6.2 proof beer !

My husband and I had been shopping in Knowle and had a Coffee and Cake in Spiga Bistro Knowle I then suggested we take a stroll and have a look at The Oktogon which we did.It is hidden away up a tiny Alley in Station Road on entering it is amazing a very Scandinavian feel so Quirky lovely inviting and cosy feel.Two young men were serving on the bar one named Josh didn't get the other ones name they greeted us with a warm smile and very friendly they told us about the food they served Beers a Selection of Craft Beers and a great selection of Gins.I said I liked IPA Longhorn Beer Josh explained they didn't have IPA but suggested a draught beer named number 7 and offered me a small glass to sample it was lovely really bitter taste which I personally prefer he then showed us the Pizza menu,s great Selection Sour dough base.We were on our way home so didn't have a drink or eat but Josh showed us around a lovely outside patio area with tables and chairs heaters blankets for cooler weather but will be lovely when the better warmer weather arrives it is a hidden gem which you wouldn't know was there walking or driving along Station Road it's so cosy and different from your usual run of the mill pubs My husband and I will definitely be visiting again very soon well done to the family who converted this building to this lovely cosy eaterie and bar .

If like enjoy drinking beer you've never heard of in an atmosphereless room with music that is so loud at 7.30 in the evening you have to shout to talk you will love this place.

Not cheap but a great bar with the best range of gins for miles! I meet family there and take friends for an early evening drink.

This is a lovely little bar in Knowle. It gets very busy early doors on a weekend as I think people have a drink here before going to a restaurant. It has a nice atmosphere. Lots of gin cocktails to choose from. Only disappointing thing is that you can't get standard larger on draft or in bottles such as becks or peroni. They only serve larger specials which are an acquired taste.

Great venue to meet friends and/or people watch. Comfortable, great choice of gins and craft beers and a great atmosphere.

Didn't spend too long in this bar, but it did leave me with a good feeling. it's an octagon (didn't count the sides but I'll take their word for it) and it has a very Scandinavian feel, clean, light and warm. A group of us met here before going out to have a meal.

Popped in for a quick drink and was pleasantly surprised. We will definitely be going back to try the pizzas and to sample some of their gins.

Great little bar if you can find it. Easily the best gin bar in Solihull and probably Birmingham too. Service is always very quick, even when it's busy. Each gin is complemented with fresh ingredients and the ale selection is fantastic too. Highly recommended.

Loved it here, nice atmosphere, lovely food and lighting. My only criticism is that there are no comfortable seats.

Comfortably the most expensive bar around so no riff-raff but not too much posing and good for a bit of people watching.

This bar has a good ambience. Appeals to all ages. Great selection of Gins and wine. The only criticism is they don't serve either carling or Carlsberg beer or anything similar

Been a few times to the bar... Still great ambience and choice of craft beers, gins and cocktails... More food choice now with paninis and pizza weekdays and at weekends during the day... But not evenings due to venue being more of a bar than restaurent

This is my favorite place to go for a drink in the world! I go with my friends at least twice a week - all the staff are really friendly and kind and Scott is a real asset to the place!

Looks and atmosphere wise this is a great place, very cosy and not too loud for a nice chat with friends however the drinks prices are very expensive so I'm not sure if I would come back here again! Mainly a gin bar.

We popped in here on spec, what a great surprise, lovely service, nice atmosphere and friendly service.

This is another great place in Knowle for coffee. You even get a free biscuit! The interior is quite modern with Scandinavian wooden fittings. There is a delightful terrace at the rear of the premises where you can drink or have a bite to eat. We didn't eat on this occasion but there were cakes on the bar and a small menu serving mainly

How can £2 be justified for a glass of tap water with small amount of lime squash?? Thought I was mishearing when they asked for the money! When I questioned the price, apparently I'm paying for the atmosphere and pleasant staff to serve me! When asked if I could just have a tap water the reply was 'is that a real question' and she started to talk about margins! ....nice to know how fair they are to those who choose not to drink, very pretentious and disappointing service!

A breath of fresh air in Knowle,a modern concept in drinking flavoursome beers which are expensive but well worth trying if you are looking for something different to tradition pubs.

I do like this place but the last two times I've been its been more of a crèche than a bar. Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against children it's just when 4 drinks are costing me >£25 I don't want kids running around in their pyjamas and having to step over kids playing on the floor to get to the bar. Just can't make my mind up. Maybe I will just have a coffee there like the kids mums and I wont feel so bad about it

A hidden gem, once given the insider knowledge about this place we went along and had a great cock-and-mocktail evening. The sun was out so managed to get a table in the small courtyard area. Great design and staff were very smiley.

I went there for a few beers with a friend and was pleasantly surprised by the selection of the beers and the professionalism in which they were served.

The Octagon bar is a great watering hole in Knowle, what we've all been waiting for, for a while. Excellent drinks menu and good atmosphere. It's not cheap and the beer is all strong but it's great value for what it is. Fab

Dropped in for a quick drink before a curry with colleagues. Bar staff smiley and friendly. Good atmosphere and not to bigger place and music not too loud. . Wild beer very tasty. They have board games...Cluedo and Monopoly if ur game!

Just popped in for a coffee early Sunday morning. Staff were excellent, we sat outside in the courtyard, very pleasant. With the Grandson asleep, they turned the music off. The cake and drinks were spot on. Thanks for a pleasant visit.

Just what Knowle needed- a stylish place for a drink. Scandinavian themed, good atmosphere, simply and stylishly furnished. Drinks a bit pricey but good selection of beers, wines and gins. Only been on Fridays and it fills up quickly, so go early if you want a seat. Only criticism is that music is a bit too loud for my taste.

Really cool little bar. Have yet to experience it during the day, which I imagine is very homely. The decor is lovely, very Swedish and woody. The outside area great, I love their festoon lights outside. It really makes the place feel wonderful. They have cable reels and lots of seating, amazing outdoor heaters and blankets!! It's a fab place to go whether it be for a quick drink or a night out. No dance space though, but the music isn't dance music really. The toilets are an experience... If you're a girl, just don't wander too far round to the right, as it's the men's urinal and there's no door!!! The female loos are individual all in one (W.C and wash hand basin) cubicles. The beers not to everyone's taste, but quirky and a good choice of wines and prosecco.

First time visit to this relatively new bar, which had a range of 12 unusual beers - mostly stronger than the norm combined with higher prices of £4.80 a pint. Whilst expensive it does give value for money with a pleasant ambience on two levels, friendly knowledgeable staff and some snacks options. A new building up an alleyway next to the auction house and worth searching out

A lovely contemporary bar that is spacious and modern with a small outdoor area. It is enjoyable for a coffee or snack during the day, staff are very friendly and service is good. They have a great drinks menu - the G&T; variety is good. It does get very busy from Thursday - Saturday evenings so you need to get there early.

Visited during "crimbo limbo" on the evening of the 30th Dec, at first the place was quiet but soon filled up, if you are looking for a quiet venue during an evening it is certainly not as the acoustics of the building make it very loud and lively but what a great place and something so different! will definitely visit again. It's a shame they do not serve meals just snack type food, but still a great bar.

The pubs in Knowle needed a kick in the backside and Oktagon has done this. The venues is brilliant.The range of beers appear expensive.Two beers at £4.80 a pint at 5.6% equates to three session beers anywhere else so not so bad cost-wise after all. Oktagon has attracted a wide range of ages particularly older couples. Only gripe - background music mostly 'Ibizan' and often too loud (the building accoustics) and intrusive. Turn it down and/or change it depending on who is in -staff awareness!

My first time here. Met with a friend for a glass of Prosecco. Fabulous atmosphere. Relaxed. Love this place. Will visit again..... A little hidden away, but well worth finding

Busy, vibrant and expensive. Great selection of beers and lager, but could do with some lessons on pulling a good pint! Too busy around the bar when it's busy but best bar in Knowle, by a way!

Very lively contemporary bar. Superb choice of ales including many Brewdog beers on tap. Complete cross section of ages and a decent heated outdoor area. Not much sign of food yet but definitely an upmarket addition to the local nightlife scene.

Went for a couple of drinks with the wife as we were celebrating. I was spoilt for choice in terms of what beer to go with as there were many. The atmosphere was great with a lively vibe and 30/40 somethings enjoying themselves. Modern decor and a funky open plan toilet arrangement for the gents! At near £5 a pint, it's not a place to stay for a session, I'm not sure on their pricing strategy as we are in Knowle, not central London.... My wife wanted a glass of Chardonnay but they didn't do any. They offered a Pinot I think which she doesn't like so she wanted a coffee liquor or Tia Maria or something like that. Nope, nowt like that on offer. She eventually landed on a vodka and coke... which she doesn't normally have and was oddly served in a red wine glass. I ended up asking for a normal straight glass for her as that was just weird. 2 drinks nearly £12 and odd presentation, I don't think we'll be going back but great if you want to try some unusual craft beers.

Hidden down an alley just off Knowle High Street, this place seems to cater for the local yuppies. Good range of interesting beers with a cool Scandinavian vibe. On the pricier side - 4 pints cost about £20.

Great atmosphere with the outside seating area having scented candles with was a nice touch, the barmaid Alice had a comprehensive knowledge of the beers and wine. Would highly recommend!

WOW!! What a vibrant and fun place to have a drink! As the name suggests the building itself is indeed an octagon and is home to a little bit of Scandinavia in the little town of Knowle. With a range of draught ales ranging in origin from Germany to the USA you're spoilt for choice. My personal favourite being the Weinstephaner <---, don't quote me on the spelling, has a smoky flavour and had the taste of a bratwurst half way through the sip. I really hope this place thrives and brings something new to Knowle and Dorridge. It's a tad pricey at around £4.85 a pint but it had a great atmosphere.
