Blinking stunning pie and chips yesterday the best!! Tools and Tackle 😋the chips were delicious and so was the pie, lovely friendly people, would highly recommend !!

Oh my Cod ..... what has happened ? Two years ago I wrote "the best F&C shop in Britain" today it is very average, not overpriced but certainly over cooked, I am an above average cook & I have no doubt the oil needed to be changed, the fish batter was crusty & extremely greasy, they must be new owners or managers as the change is dramatic, such a shame, I will give them one more go though just in case this was a bad day.

Fresh outbofvthe fryer, Some of the best Chip Shop chips we have had in years, will be back fir more.

Went here and got 4 sausage in batters and a large chips, undercooked chips with no flavour and soggy battered sausage was overpriced for portion sizes. I wouldn’t waste your time going there, don’t know why people try to charge lots and can’t even offer good food it’s not that difficult.

Absolutely awful “large”cod and chips,chips way undercooked,cod coated in mushy batter. And this cost £14.50 ! Service was ok.

Worse chip shop in Essex, better off eating cardboard than their chips. Will never go back ever again. Staff unpleasant. Wish I could leave zero stars

Won’t allow me to give less than one star so where do we start? Always collect from here, but tonight phoned for a delivery at 6-20pm and asked for it to be delivered about half 7-30/8pm if possible or around about. Woman on the phone, helpful and it was not a problem and explained one lady member of staff was finishing at 8pm and she will deliver ….no problem! Come 8-10pm thought I’d phone and the guy said he will phone the woman delivery driver and get back to me, he didn’t! Bearing in mind he didn’t even have the order to hand. So I phoned back 10 mins later and apparently our order (2 large middles of skate and 1 large cod and large family chips) was trying to be delivered to some old man in collier row according to oh my cod who after 3 phone calls couldn’t even phone me back. This is now 9.15pm !!! Finally got through to the manger and he said he has no driver now and the whole order who knows where that ended up!!! He tried to offer a free order for tomorrow evening ….I don’t think so, we’d be starved to death by then!!! Disappointed and absolutely disgraceful service will never use these people again after so long. Who even knows if the food was even cooked when they can’t even confirm a postcode. Speechless. Can’t add a photo because we got no food!!!! Shame that old man in collier row could’ve eaten it but rather than that the lucky delivery lady has fed her family for the night!

Overpriced and the chips are soggy. Some of the staff have the attention span of a goldfish so you have to repeat your order several times. They could definitely benefit from a visit by Gordon Ramsay. How difficult is it to cook a crisp chip for Christ's sake? It's not exactly Michelin star level cuisine. I'll be getting a pizza delivered from Dominos next time.

These are the best fish and chips I have eaten in entire of London. The portions are ginormous. Even the small chips is quite a challenge. Great fresh crispy fish!

Sad to report that the size of large donner that usually feeds my dogs and I has microsized as have the family portion of chips. I also noticed that staff were more focused on taking orders rather than serve the food that had been cooked. A sad day from what was once the best chippy around. I would welcome other recommendations as I doubt I will revisit this establishment.

Used to be an amazing place, about a year ago we would travel the 3 miles to get our kofte and lamb shish from there because it was delicious however this is not the case anymore. The lamb was more fat than lamb, tiny chunks and mainly fat. My OH;s kofte was burnt and curled all around the sides. Speaking of sides the salad has somehow halved (at the very least). They have changed the size of the seperate salad containers and the amount is laughable, i shook the salad and it filled half the container. Used to love this place, I suspect new greedy management. Avoid.

Ordered delivery from their website last night. The ordering was very good on their website. Not much choice in size of fish. Either large cod, which was overpriced at £10, or £6.90 for a small cod. Delivery was £3, which also was is too much. But, was willing to try as a recommendation. Food arrived hot and on time. My large fish was big, but over cooked. Very dry. My partners small cod was the size of a battered sausage and also overcooked. We actually did, at first, thought they sent a battered sausage by mistake! Chips were good, though. For £25 for 2 people, we was quite disappointed with the food. The fish was well overpriced for what you got........tasteless and overcooked fish. Sorry, but at those prices for pretty average food, we won’t be going back.

Didn't even want to give it one star. Where do I start? Last night waited in the cold for 25 minutes only to hear the cooks telling the workers not to serve customers in the shop the large cods (for telephone orders only) No proper queuing system which meant no social distancing. Will take your order, then take your money and go and serve other people. What kind of business thinks its OK for customers to ask where their order is? Shambolic and no concept of customer service

I ordered online and when we went to collect waited 20 mins to be told that the order wasn’t done. Everyone shouting at each other. Probably gave ours to someone else. When we finally got the order home. Everything smothered in chilli sauce and inedible. Chips were under cooked and over salted. Absolutely terrible. Threw it in the bin. Total waste of money. Shabby poor service.

This chippy used to be our go to place for cod and chips but the last two times we have been here the cod has been totally tasteless and either going off or undercooked and inedible, we thought it was a one off the first time but after our recent experience we won’t be going back.

We decided to get a takeaway from here Saturday as both fancied a kebab it was disgusting!!! The bread had green mold on so did the peppers but didn’t realise til a couple of mouth fulls in !!! I have been ill since could never a chicken shish again if my life depending on it and the chips were brown which is a sigh of old oil I have never left a review before but I felt I had to as it was so bad

Went to the chip shop today as fancied some chips. Asked for a half portion but was told “it’s against the law to serve a half portion”.Said to the guy who served me (older man with moustache) that last time I was here it was ok and they serving school children half portions so what’s changed?? He said “I don’t care” so I walk out in disgust and went to another chip shop who was happy to serve me half a portion.

Take away fish and chips is always a race against time - to prevent the batter from becoming soggy and sticky - before the mummified fish is unceremoniously rolled out onto a plate. Invariably during this striptease bits of batter cling to the paper like limpets leaving the fish pock marked. There has to be a better way of keeping the batter on better in transit. To stop the chips from becoming a warm comfort stodge, I always ask them to be fried for double the normal time - this crisps them up jolly for the journey back. This is takeaway as you will have gathered. Not my regular f&c haunt. But on the Friday we visited it was packed. There aren't many really good fish fries around. The batter may be delicious in one plae while fish in another. But most shops use frozen fish - this is pretty much obvious for when it is fried, the texture is soft squidgy gooey and it simply scatters when spiked with a fork - the battered skin clinging on like a bad graft. We rushed home and decanted the food onto our plates. The batter was still crispy and the chips too were frisky. The batter still clung to the fish like a lost loved one rediscovered. And this was all because the texture of this hot little dish was meaty and firm and it did not separate and slide out of it's glove like sheath. The golden brown batter was crispy and tasty by itself - sure fire indication of quality. It had the right thickness and was not wet or squiggy underneath as is usually the case. The chips though still erect and separate were no match for the fish which was delicious - probably made from frozen which dramatically effects the texture of most foods. On the quality of the fish alone I would return to OMC when I might also suggest that they use fresh pots for their chips and raise their food quality even higher. The staff are friendly helpful, polite and handsome I would urge those hankering after good cod to cast their net at OMC.

sounds extremely weird but I cannot stand fish I HATE it!! But sometimes I really fancy it and if I do (rarely) I have to get it from oh my cod. This is the only place I will get fish from and when I do get it I like it. There portions are very good sizes ! My boyfriend had a small lamb doner last time we went and he couldn’t eat more than half and he loved it! Lovely little place, staff are always so friendly x

Two main variables in a decent chippyFish and chips! Oh my cod falls short on both,Fish normally small with too much batter and chips tasteless and always well under done.On the rare occasion I have used them I re cook the chips at home.Friendly staff and the kebabs are fine but the basics,especially the chips are very poor.

It’s unusual to find a Fish and chip shop over on a Sunday evening, but Oh My Cod was. Their fish was lovely fresh fish cooked to order. Definitely recommended

Have been here a fair few times now - the food is consistently good every time I have been here. Fresh and good quality food, pleasant service and the place is always busy which is defiantly a reflection of how good it is. One of the few places you can get good fish and chips on a Sunday.

We've been using this place for about 5 years now. At it's height 2 years ago you couldn't get in the door on a Saturday night. Now it's not so busy, looking at the other reviews I can see why ! We usually have Chicken shish kebabs and they're delicious so perhaps us not sampling the rest of the menu so much has kept us as customers. I've tried other shish kebabs in other shops but not as good as here. Only dropped a star as have had a few instances where things are missing from our order and have only noticed when I've got home.

I go here often. Its quite popular and usually busy with customers. Great place to get fish and chips or excellent grills.

Best chip shop by far ! Freshly cooked fish, great chips, good size portions. Also offer kebabs burgers wraps all cooked fresh when ordered ! You've only got to drive past to see for yourself, always packed !!!

Friendly staff in this takeaway fish and chips / kebabs shop. Good quality food and reasonably priced. Specific orders taken over the phone. The portion sizes quite large.

Nos entra en el gran nombre y atractiva fachada. Por desgracia la calidad nos decepcionó. Las patatas fritas eran demasiado seco y pasta era muy grasienta.

I live local to this fish shop but has gone down hill fast think they concentrate more on there restaurant down the Rd chips mostly like warm just like sav,s or sausages Fish not cooked through and no taste fetch back the old staff

Visited the shop with my husband on a Friday evening. To our surprise there wasn't much of a queue for a Friday night and the speed at which the food was prepared was excellent. However despite our initial reactions the food itself wasn't of particularly good quality. The cod I had was very greasy and lacked any real flavour instead tasting quite bland and the chips were also quite soggy and with little crunch. Wouldn't be in a rush to visit again.

Got some chips from here several weeks ago for the first time in years and they were excellent. despite it being a Monday evening there were large queues which I take as a good sign and the other food which is wide-ranging looked excellent.

Have used this takeaway on several occasions and have always found the fish and chips to be very good.A sign of how good it is is the queues that form at frying time.

We've been here a few times as it's our local chippy, however I don't think we'll be back - well, not for fish anyway. The chips are fine - chunky and freshly cut and the curry sauce is good too. The battered cod, on the other hand is a different story. Twice recently, it has been really, really slimy on the underside and otherwise greasier than it should be, as well as being rather bland and tasteless.I will say that the place is hygienic and the staff there are lovely. It's just a shame about the fish.

Had takeaway 3rd time from here and it is brilliant Chips cooked properly not still hard and yellow like lots of others and fluffyCod was good size and chicken shish lovely toooWill 100% be going backAnd recommend it

A few occasions I had haddock and noticed a faint ammonia smell but ate it anyway and was not ill the next day! (Coming from Leeds Yorkshire fish and chips are THE BEST!! ) just googled "funny smell from fish and it states that when cooked fish smells of ammonia ( a metallic taste as I found it ) it's basically not fresh !, hence I don't go there any more and can't wait to go to Leeds and have good fish and chips

Had a large cod and chips take away and was really disappointed with the fish. It looked the part but was tasteless and chewy.

After figuring out where the queue was because there was one for waiting and ordering but it was not distinguishable.. I ordered my food, 3 sausages and chips, then I waited 15 mins and 4 people,who ordered after, got served before me. After people left I finally got served or they remembered I was there ! My sausages had been wrapped as soon as I ordered but completely forgotten about! The chips were baking when I got home but the sausage where cold and I had to re heat them in the microwave!!!! Really not impressed, wouldn't go if possible!

After ordering food and waiting for over 20 mins - I was finally asked if I was still waiting for my order! The staff talk to each other constantly and don't engage with the customers making the whole kitchen look like chaos! Price is good, and food is also very nice... Just a shame that the preparation doesn't fill you with confidence!!

Since opening this has been best fish and chip shop in the area. However sadly on the last 4/5 occasions the fish has been very dry and certainly not worth the premium which it has in the past. Feel now operating on previous reputation.Unless there is an improvement we shall stop using which is sad as decent fish and chips are hard to find.

We always get a takeaway everytime we visit friends who live in Hornchurch. The chicken kebabs are superb, so much so, that we never go anywhere else. There is plenty of filling, both of the meat and the salad. This is takeaway only.

Great Food whatever you have. Decent fish and even better Kebabs. Home made chilli sauce best I have had with proper pieces of chilli, onion and herbs.

We often phone through our regular order for haddock and cod with chips and we are pretty much always delighted. The fish is fresh and well cooked and the chips just how we like them. The shop looks clean and the staff are friendly and efficient,

Even though there are other chip shops nearer to me, I prefer to jump in the car to come here. Chicken breast is fantastic and although you have to wait a long time for a kebab, it is well worth it. Fantastic!!

Friendly takeaway with good quality food. Consistent quality and one of the best in the area. Food can be cooked to order. Had the large cod and it didn't fit my plate so large.

I recently visited the restaurant on my way home from work when I got off at the nearby train station. Straight away I noticed that the layout of the store was unusual, but in a good way. It was split in two, one for your classic 'Fish n Chips' and the other for kebabs and the likes. This really helps reduce queue times and stops the shop becoming overcrowded. I placed my order and it did take roughly 15mins to prepare which was a little disappointing and it would have been nice to have received something for my wait like a discount. However the quality of the fish didn't disappoint as it was very meaty and tasted fresh and overall I would say I was satisfied with the restaurant and the quality of the food there.

The services was great, very friendly staff. The food was really good. The pieces of cod were cooked to perfection. The big let down for me here was the price. It's very expensive for a chip shop.

We have had take away from this shop for many years and can honestly say that we have very rarely had a bad one. This evening it was a huge Skate wing, cooked perfectly and it was so "meaty" if you know what I mean, full of fish. We also had a small Chicken Special, which is cubed chicken pieces, Peppers and mushrooms on a skewer cooked freshly for you on a charcoal grill. It is removed from the skewer and placed in a toasted opened Pitta bread. You also get salad either inside it or in a small container. We had lovely cooked chips, all in all a great takeaway for a Friday evening and all for just over fifteen pounds. Great value really as no waste at all. Delicious and totally satisfying. We telephone in the order and it's ready when we get there, so no waiting around. Obviously you can just walk in and order as well. I would recommend that you give it a try and I really think you will not be disappointed.

Friendly informal restaurant with great food and good service.It does get a little noisy with everyone talking over each other but this tends to add to the atmosphere. Open plan kitchen where you can see the food being cooked and everywhere is spotless

We wer in the area for a short period of time due to a short refurb contract. I have to say that this wwas One of the best fish and chips in the area, recommended! Cod was fresh and tasty, chips were nice and crisp.

Went here for a family meal, having read some great reviews in the local paper. Firstly, the place was full of loud mouthed, vulgar East Ender's. Talk about lowering the tone. One woman (Lin?) Was so loud, that by the end of the evening we must have heard her entire (pathetic) life story. We asked to be moved (the restaurant was not overly busy) but we're told that no other tables were ready. The staff were rude and non attentive. They seemed happy to stand around the bar area, but would turn away if called over. The food was burnt. The meat was incredibly tough - my nan simply couldn't chew it. The chips were undercooked - everything was simply wrong. The food and drinks are incredibly over priced. Please avoid this place. It's a rip off and the clientele are vile. There's much nicer places to eat in Hornchurch.

Having used the fish/kebab takeaway a short distance away for the last 5 or so years it was great to hear the guys were taking a chance on opening a separate restaurant. The location, an old convenience store/post office on a very awkward junction by Emerson Park station, had had various other failed attempts at new ventures, but for these guys they already had a good customer background, and at the moment it is working. Our first visit will I think be the first of many. The restaurant itself is a reasonable size but they may have a few too many seats, so it's a little cramped, but it's fresh and clean and doesn't pose too much a problem. The service was very good and the staff attentive. The menu offers your standard fish and chips and various Turkish dishes as expected, but it doesn't just have the standard Donner & Shish options. We had Starters and Mains but I can't name what we had, but it was excellent. The portions were more than enough and very flavoursome. The bar menu isn't vast but adequate. Speaking with the staff the success of the restaurant so far could mean an expansion of both the premises and the dishes on the menu. If they continue to deliver to the level that we experienced then they should have no trouble in making this a complete success.

We went to this restaurant to have the fish and chips, although it is also a grill and serves Turkish food. The fish and chips were lovely. Really fresh and both the fish and the chips was very good. We looked around us at the other diners and noticed they were mostly eating the Turkish food and the meals also looked very good with plenty on the plates. We will definitely go back and next time try the grill. Only gave a four and not a five as the menu I was given was very greasy and dirty, which was a shame as it meant the first impression was not good. My husbands menu was also a bit grubby.

On one occassion in many years I have been displeased with the takeaway and that's only because a gentleman recently forgot to bag my sausage!!! The food is excellent. Their restaurant is tasty too!!! I am glad they have a restaurant. It's great, go!
