Oh My Cod! in Northampton

Generous portion, friendly staff and banging food! 10/10 best fish and chips in town.

Just called into this place for fish n chips cod and haddock O MY GOD THIS PLACE SHOULD CLOSE DOWN, WE GOT HOME WITH OUR FOOD THE FISH ONLY RECORDED 60 DEGREE, CHIPS WELL WHAT CAN I SAY TERRIBLE, ODD SCRAPS OF CHIPS, ONLY WRAPPED IN ONE PIECE OF PAPER, SO ALL THE CHIPS FELL OUT OF THE PAPER, IT WAS ALL SO GREASY, THE FISH THAT LOOKED COOKED WAS SO PALE IN COLOUR I DOUBTED AS TO WHETHER IT WAS COOKED, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK.

Food was warm at best, advised 20-40 mins for delivery but took well over an hour. Didn’t give me any drink despite paying for one. Called up told me would send it asap and it never came. Would not use this place again!

This place used to be a family run business. Good food and service. Must have changed owners. Don't bother now. Food gone right down hill. They don't even make the nann fresh infront of you anymore which used to be the best bit. Kebab meat too thick and kebabs are small. Hardly any salad. All the fried food looked like cooked in old fat. Service abrupt close to rude, and no longer friendly either.

Amazing customer service and the food is 10/10 I love it. It’s all Halal as well which is great! They do a huge variety of foods which is good to see.

Food is about average but the service is horrible. Very rude. Lady preparing the food had an argument on the phone and was very rude to her colleague. Not returning. Kitchen seemed very chaotic.

Used to go here for kebabs and the naans were made fresh, they were the best, now as we haven't been for ages it seems to have been taken over. No longer freshly made naans but bought in dry and cold ones, hardly any meat thats been kept warm, worst kebab I have ever had, don't waste your money!

Apparently this is a £6,80 kebab and we had three, the naans used to be cooked to order in the tandoor, this one was cold, dry and obviously bought in. The donor meat tasted ok but there wasn't much of it. All in all very disappointing and won't be going back. If I could give zero stars on the food I would.

Awful ... no salt n vinegar and double order ... really greassy chips raw.

Best fish and chips I've ever had

Surprisingly good. I’m not a fan of chip shops especially not when they have a mixed menu and also do kebabs, they tend to serve poor quality dishes. This chip shop however does an excellent kebab and fries, their sauces are lovely and authentic. They’re also very well priced. 1 star less as staff isn’t very friendly engaging. But food is excellent.

Cold stale food. Also order was different to how we asked, and rotten gherkin. Disappointed as I rang up and they said they would ring me back and never did.

It's not a bad chipshop. But small chip portions, a regular portion of chips in a large donner meat and chips.

Great chippy in a perfect position if you're going to or from the rugby. The food is always fresh and the prices are reasonable.

Pie was still cold and had to be microwaved. Chips were decent though.

Parked up in my truck rang oh my cod as I was parked in an awkward place but they delivered to me no problem what so ever ! And the food was great too ! 10/10 thank you happy driver tonight

Top-notch food had a mixed kebab wrap was full to the top had to eat it in pieces as it was fully loaded and the flavouring was amazing very good value for money and very friendly service

Still nice food, but not sure what they think they're doing with their prices! It's got ridiculously expensive compared to similar chippys.

“Oh my cod” was recommended by a retired artist and a good friend of mine and I’m glad he showed me this place unbelievable food and great customer service would recommend to anyone around the area in NN5.

The shop gives you a warm and welcoming atmosphere as you enter and customer service in on point👌🏽. The food is delicious and is filled with spice and seasoning, packing with flavour. I would recommend anyone to try it and should explore their hidden flavours.

Weird kebab from here today no bread ,not spicy hardly any salad.No jalepenos,just was not as good as it used to be. Well it was'nt ike the lovely ones we used to get from here.

Worst fish and chips of my life, sausage was nice I ordered banana fritter they gave me a potato thing that had no flavour 😣

This is the best chippy in Northampton, we live in Cogenhoe & travel all the way there because its " the best" we had their fish & chips the first time..omg..fish freshly fried & so much flavour, batter not soggy ..perfect, wont go anywhere else now, had a great meal again today..so if u want the best..its " Oh My Cod" staff are great, always smiling & so lovely, today in these temperatures they were there will a cheery hello.. thanks to all the great people who work there.."ur great!! Food is really awesome especially fish n chips but mostly the delivery was fast.

Came in the store yesterday Ali gave me a nice service and the food was nice and clean and recommend people going there for sure

The fish and chips are very nice alhamdulilah they very quick and delivery is also done. And the taste is very nice.

Heard and read so many good reviews thought I would give it a go. Order for the family all good, had the confirmation email, sit back and wait and wait and wait. No food turned up shop closed, can't comment on the food. Delivery and communication totally rubbish.

First visit- bought a large Doner and chips. Massive portions, really tasty, lovely staff. Will be visiting again!

Food is great and customer service was on point. Ordered a couple of Doners. They also do Doners in Naam bread. You should try it, you won't be disappointed.

In this day and age where everything is paid by card its very annoying to walk all the way to this place to see a sign saying cash only useless!

We love this place! The food is always brilliant! Service is always quick and staff are courteous. My favourite is the cod, its usually very hot, and beautiful crispy batter surrounds soft white cod, delicious!

Had steak n kid pie chips curry sauce. Chips rubbery curry sauce came out in one lump only good thing was pie. Won't eat from there again

Second week in row of Friday afternoon work lunch, big order, which was prepared quickly and the all food was amazing

Super basic. A 3am food spot but had normal dinner. All fresh nice curry sauce Mushy peas tasted a bit like cleaner

I recently visited this store and was greeted by a team of women who were runningthe store smmothly and efficiently. We placed our order and waited outside to allow others to order too. This store is currently operating a No Mask, No Entry policy. Our food was fresh and hot and the Cod was delicious. To the extent that one family memeber that rarely eats chips.. Ate all her cod and chips up. Car parking can be tricky and we parked at the rear but people may wish to consider farmfoods/vets for pets car park as it is local.

First time in and last .walk back home having ordered kebab meat chips and salad. Only to find no chips .meat was cold.never.again

Chips tasted like they had been reheated several times, nuggets were cold and tasted stale. Not ordering from here again and i don't recomend that anyone else does

First time we have used the delivery service for this Fish and chip shop. Fish was lovely really fresh and the chips were too. Still nice and hot when we got it.

Great family run business, the food is of high quality and always fresh, the oil is changed daily and fresh ingredients are used at all times, the fish is cooked to the highest quality along with fresh cut chips, food is cooked to order so a few minutes wait is all it takes to treat yourself to fish and chips, and I would and have recommended people to use this place, the family who run the business are friendly, and helpful and have a great customer service, the shop itself is very clean and tidy and staff can be seen preparing the food and also taking care to wash their hands, it's a nice place to get fish and chips or maybe a kabab, it's local to St James area but worth a visit.

Great chicken tikka on a kebab spit, they can even cook you a fresh naan bread instead of a normal pitta to wrap your food in.. nom, nom

The only reason this gets two stars instead of one is because the chips were edible. The fish, however, was very chewy and I had to throw half of it away.
