Oh My Cod! in Cheshire West and Chester

Customer service zero, accuracy zero, consistency zero. An ex-regular customer, never again. Late food, missing food, soggy food.

Exceptional! We often pick up a collection on way home from daughter’s sports club on Fridays. Tonight, for the first time in years, we got home & the contents did not match the receipt…. A quick call & less than 10 minutes later a fresh order was delivered to our front door. Issues happen, it’s how you solve them that counts… these guys know how to do customer service. Food was the usual very high standard too.

What a shame ordered two trays of chicken meat unfortunately very dry most likely yesterday scraps. not one to complain usually but for the price you pay its just rude to send out dry old meat and you would of known it was no good before sending out.

Great staff, food was delicious and my true personal opinion about the name is I thinks it it good and funny and really made the restaurant catchy, oh my cod! Made my life so much better when I bought their beautiful chips and sausages. My favourite chippy is indeed oh my cod as it brought back my smile and made me a better person. Thanks a lot guys 😃😃😃

I bought chips here last Thursday ...excellent chips, good service....definitely will visit again...

Was passing through and saw this was open. I asked for haddock and chips as I wanted to try the fish and chips, the fish was really good, the batter soft and not too oily, the haddock was chunky and one of the best fish I have tasted. The chips were soft, and even after getting home, the fish and chips tasted really nice. The serving couple was very polite and served the food really quickly. It is definitely highly recommended. The price for a large fish and small chips was less than £9.

Staff appeared to be in some form of disagreement between themselves.

After looking for food on our way back to hotel as visiting the area, we passed “oh my cod”! The staff couldn’t be more helpful, the food was lovely!

Best fish and chips ever. Huge fish and freshly battered. Great portions of chips and the mushy peas always taste amazingly fresh. Absolutely love it. 10/10 recommend

Tried oh my cod last night. £8.90 for fish and chips is a bit pricey, even these days. Fish was a good size and excellent, but the chips were dreadful. As the purchase was at about 5.30 pm I'm guessing they were warm ups, not freshly fried. If not, just stick to doing fish.

It's the 21st century and you can't pay by card. The guy behind the counter told me he had a special curry, Chicken Bunga Bunga. I got a sample and it tasted great. I wanted to buy some, but was told I can only buy it with chips. Apparently my request to have it separate couldn't be done because 'it costs too much to make'. That makes absolutely no sense. If you want people to try your curry, don't make ridiculous rules. There is, in the real world, no difference between having it on the chips or separately in a pot... except the 10p for a polystyrene tub. Edit: tried once again a few years later. The chips were really soggy and the batter was full of grease. They also missed one of the 4 items on my order. Avoid.

So I'd break down the review in a few parts. The food itself, was actually really nice and plentiful - the chip portion was massive. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The atmosphere was a little frosty in the takeaway as there were lots of orders and the staff were falling out with each other. There didn't seem to be a system when cooking the food and people's food was being left on the side. I think it needs a new ticketing system. Would return as the food was really decent and would like to try more of the menu

It is nice here but they messed up my order once. Quite badly. Didn't realise till I got home. Just make sure you double check before collecting.

Best fish and chips in the area for miles

We had a large order for a party a few weeks back. The food was delivered very prompt, and were kept hot due to being stored in an insulated bag. Absolutely fabulous service. I would definitely recommend

On a staycation so didn’t really know where to go for food but chose the best spot! The service is absolutely amazing, staff were so friendly, bubbly and talkative. On top of that the food was delicious, fantastic quality fish and chips and a very generous portion. Definitely recommend, thank you very much !!!

A great place to eat, friendly helpful staff. We have the salt and pepper box with chicken, Donner meat, fish, chicken balls and of course chips! Just spectacular! Feeds 4 of us. Excellent value for money!

My wife ordered online but immediately realised had made a mistake in terms of location. Could not contact the shop to explain as they did not answer the phone. Then contacted us to say order ready and not their problem that was made in error even though they don’t answer the phone. Untrustworthy.

Changed ownership, now fantastic food, really fresh, we had the s&p chips and chicken kebab, both were excellent! The staff are lovely too. Well worth another visit if you haven't been for a while!

We were staying in the delemare forest cabins, and this chip shop was the closest to us! We called in for 2 x fish 'n' chips and a couple of kebabs! It was an insane amount of food and great prices. The food was all cooked fresh while I waited. The salad on the kebab was fresh, The large chips were absolutely massive, and they would easily feed 3 people! 😋 yummy! recommend visiting!

This place was recommended to me by a friend and we decided to try it on new years eve, I ordered on line that was ok, the problem was the chips we where given where not fresh they had been in the keep warm for to long and tasted awful but the fish and peas where ok. Not the best visit.

Came to oh my cod and ordered a small fish and chips which i saw was 3.20 when ready came up to the counter gave the lady a 5 quid note and got no change

Curry was good the chips were OK.

Ordered lightly battered fish in store. The shop was clean, two ladies serving very pleasant and chatty. The fish was cooked perfectly, was fresh and very hot, it had a light crisp battered coating & small amount of salt. Really enjoyed it. Thank you.

called in today at 12. 15 pm for chips and peas. The chips had been reheated from last nights leftover chips. The chips were hard chewy i cut my gum on one of these chips making my gum bleed. The worst chips i have ever bought thrown them in the bin will never go there again, will go to frodsham instead.

Friendly staff, great fish and chips

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time and being from Yorkshire I'm fussy about them. The fish has perfect, crispy melt in the mouth batter, cooked right through properly, no undercooked sogginess, and the chips are crispy, squidgy and delicious. They've even gone out of their way to make me scraps which really seals the deal on a chippy meal for me. Very happy customer and will be back too many times for my waistline.

Very disappointed, worse meal I've ever had, over cooked, dry, and cold, couldn't eat, waited for over a hour for delivery, then they were nearly a hour late on top of that, so waited over 2 hours for a horrible meal and no apology, will not use again
