Odyssey Greek Restaurant in Chesterfield

I remember when I saw the sign go up at Odyssey before it first opened, I was so excited, Chesterfield needed something different and Greek cuisine was something missing on the restaurant scene here, I thought I hope it does not disappoint – and it certainly has not!We have been to the restaurant on several occasions since it opened and always have an excellent experience, you are greeted like an old friend, made to feel special and the atmosphere simply transports you to a lovely Greek island where you can reminisce about favourite summer holidays.Between us we have tried several dishes that have all been fantastic, but my absolute favourites are the Dakos, Spetsofay, Gyros and Beef Youvetsi followed by the delicious Baklava, all washed down with Greek beverages.During lockdown it has been great to support such a lovely business in the best way we can by having several takeaways, you can tell its appreciated. These have all been super tasty, fresh, and hot and ready on time, and the excellent customer service still shines through.Most recently we had the special Valentines Takeaway, which was superb, my Prawn Saganki was absolutely packed with prawns, the lemon potatoes with my chicken were tasty and moreish and the Baklava, went down a treat with my cup of afternoon tea the next day. All dishes kept lovely and warm, so much so that we did not have to re-heat between courses. It was all packaged lovely, with nice little extra touches for Valentines that we really appreciated.I really hope its not long before we can sit in the restaurant again, and we will be booking in as soon as we are able, we did visit last year between lockdown and were really impressed with the great care and attention that was taken to adhere to the guidelines and keep staff and customers safe.Odyssey really is a little gem, Anastasia, George, Kostas and all the staff are wonderful people who genuinely care about their customers. Having worked in Greece for 5 summers and spending many of our holidays visiting Greek Islands I urge you to give them a try, you will not regret it!

I have visited the restaurant various times before and during the pandemic. I thought to give a try and enjoy some food at home. I ordered a pork pita gyros with tzatziki dip, some extra chips on the side and a Fix dark beer. The result: I wasn't even surprised when all was gone with a blink of an eye! My wrap and chips were warm, gyros was juicy, dip was fresh and chips were perfectly crispy. All this combined with a cold beer. A few hours later and I still feel full and happy. Not just food for the stomach, but, also, food for the soul! Yamasss!!!

Very enjoyable with tasty food, good portions and good friendly service. We would certainly revisit.

Having read other reviews, and checking out the Covid measures being taken we decided that we would eat here. We booked a table in advance which I think was a good idea as very busy. We started our meal with mixed dips and pita bread, Greek salad and dolmades. Delicious. For main my hubby had the rabbit stew and I had moussaka. I can honestly say we both enjoyed the food so much. We were in Greece last year, and this food was better than anything we ate in Greece. The staff were very attentive and friendly, all wearing visors and hand sanitizer on every table. Felt very relaxed and enjoyed the evening very much. We will definitely be going back. It may be a little bit more expensive than some places, but you are paying for quality and definitely quantity.

Dark restaurant in the evening. Difficult to read the menu. Decor simple, not excited about.Food ok, not many options in the menu, portion size ok, price a bit high for what it was. Not a value for money. Overall ok but not going to return.

The food here was very nice. We had a starter. I had The salmon and roast veg. My wife had The chicken skewer, both were perfectly cooked. The tables were left vacant alternatively for covid19. This is quite an expensive place however The portions are large. For example I got two pieces of salmon when I would normally eat one piece which is ample. A very nice experience though with quality service.

A wonderful restaurant and would highly recommend to give them a try. Atmosphere, decor, service and food were all faultless! The gyros was superb, although it defeated us but we took a doggy bag home for supper :)

Really can not fault our experience! Friendly staff, lovely interior, food was incredible (and there were plenty of vegetarian/ vegan/ gluten free options!) and every measure was taken to ensure the highest standard of hygiene. Thank you for such a lovely meal!

We were greeted by a shot of Ouzo. The menus are printed on notebooks - cute and very different. The food was delicious - all of it: from the bread to the coffee. All very reasonably priced. But the best was the staff and service. Thank you all for a lovely meal.

Overall, an excellent little Greek restaurant serving wonderful food with a cute atmosphere.Regarding COVID-19, there were bottles of hand sanitiser on the tables, the staff asked us to use the menu available on the website, and staff kept as close to 2m away as possible unless necessary, without impacting on service.To start, we shared pitta breads with a selection of dip. The pitta bread was gorgeous. For main, we had a vegetarian moussaka and the chicken gyros. Both were delicious, as were the homemade crisps that came with the gyros. For desert, we had a lovely baklava.We weren't fans of the (complimentary) ouzo, but that is more personal taste. The retsina (Greek white wine) was excellent, also.Service was very friendly and pro-active, without being in your face.Highly recommended.

We have just treated ourselves to a takeaway from here. The menu is more limited, however plenty for us to choose from. We had the Dakos, a tomato, feta and crusty bread salad. A selection of Gyros, 2x chicken, 1 pork and 2x mushroom. They are delicious!All washed down with a couple of Volcan beer and a bottle of Kleoni red wine. I’m so pleased to support our local restaurant during this time and a refreshing change from the typical takeaways.Thank you for doing this and can’t wait till we can visit you in person

Myself and a friend had lunch at this restaurant the service was second to none and the staff were excellent. The food was of an excellent standard and cooked to perfection. The only thing I would say the prices are higher on average for each dish and can become expensive if you want extra dishes from the menu. We had two glasses and a coffee with our food and for two of us came to £74.50 including a tip for the waiter. We loved the food and would go back again but maybe only for a special occasion instead - but still highly recommend

We arrived in Chesterfield for a gig and were walking past Odessey, looking for a pub to grab a quick bite to eat when the lure of a Greek restaurant was too much to resist. So glad we went in. I used to live in Greece and this is proper Greek food in Chesterfield. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the food is out of this world. Lots of lovely touches and design features. A whole vegetarian/vegan menu too. Service is friendly and professional. It is so good we are already planning our next visit (which will involve travelling from Leicester for the evening- but so worth it).

I made the booking online for a party of three with ease. As soon as you walk into this restaurant you are greeted warmly and shown to your table. The Odyssey has a lively, positive atmosphere (without being distracting), the staff are lovely and the food is lovelyer. Some might say it's a bit on the expensive side, especially for vegetarians but I would counter that by pointing out the exceptional service and facilities (the ladies amongst us will be very pleased), quality of the food and wine. I will definitely be coming back for a treat night out. Well done!

Lovely ambience, friendly and attentive staff and above all great food. I had the pork tenderloin which was delicious. The accompanying rice was full of flavour. We shared dolmades, dips and pitta breads to start. The pittas were beautifully soft and warm. We were even treated to a complimentary ice cream dessert to share which was a lovely surprise. Yes, this is not the cheapest place to eat but the food, atmosphere and staff make it worth it.

we went as a party recently and I was not over awed after reading the reviews this was disappointing, the food was pretty much average and all I could taste of my Odyssey Pita Gyros was the onion. the only things I could say is that there was a lot of it although some portions on the table looked smaller than others. the staff were nice, not too attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. the seating was uncomfortable for a longer stay, wicker seat, so I was glad to stand up and go. Sadly I would not rush back but if you fancy a change it could work for you but it is not cheap.

Had a lovely time at Odyssey today. Thanks to their all day service we were able to eat at 4.pm and avoid the busy times. We thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the service was excellent. The restaurant is so traditionally Greek that you could be forgiven for thinking you are on holiday. A truly enjoyable experience.

As we entered the restaurant we were greeted with friendly smiles and made welcome. The food was delicious and interesting. Our shared starter was a spinach and herb filled pastry cut into triangles and drizzed with honey. We both ordered the moussaka for our main which had a little crumbled feta on top. The portions are generous so we didn't have room for dessert. During the short wait for our food we enjoyed the artfully eclectic decor, there's a lot to see. This is our second visit in two weeks and I'm sure my daughter and I will be back for more. It is so good to have found such a delightful resaurant in every way

We ate here in January 2019 giving it a 5 star review and said if we returned to Chesterfield we would definitely eat here again. Well we came back in January 2020 and ate here again and everything was as perfect as the first time. Well done to all involved in this restaurant.

Visiting this lovely eaterie was like finding a piece of Greece in Chesterfield. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the complimentary oozo on arrival took us back to the Greek islands. The food was delicious and the interior was so beautiful. If we did not live 200 miles away we would be here every week.

What a gem! Delicious, authentic and lovingly made Greek food - probably one of the best Greek restaurants in the United Kingdom! We are a Greek family in London and are often disappointed with the offering and price point of Greek restaurants in London. The food was great - so much variety on the menu, very modern and homemade using ingredients from Greece. The giouvetsi had loads of tender beef and had a lovely soupy texture. Moussaka was on point, meatballs were generous and comforting, dakos tasted just like ordering it in Crete, spetsofai had a traditional sausage from Greece (warming, spicy and hearty) and the feta saganaki with homemade jam was a treat. Finished off with freddo cappuccinos (iced cappuccinos), taking us right back to Greece! The decor was so beautiful, bright, artistic and original - like the modern Greek restaurants in Athens. Well worth eating at, if you really love Greek food, you will not be disappointed! Thank you Christos and Anastasia!

A Friend and I recently had a very pleasant Meal at Odyssey. A lovely Restaurant with typical Greek décor. Service was excellent throughout the Meal. Menu is varied and interesting. I had a Starter of Tarama ( Cod Roe ) and my Friend had Grilled Halloumi with Tomatoes. We had Warm Pitta Bread with our Starters. Taste and Portions were good , although my Starter was too chilled. It needed to be brought up to Room Temperature. For Main Courses we had Greek Meatballs and Beef Youvetsi ( Greek Pasta ) respectively. Very tasty. A Beer and a Red Wine supported the Meal. The Food was on the whole very good without being exceptional. The Service was friendly and informative and the Restaurant was extremely welcoming. It is good to see a Restaurant with a different Food emphasis in Chesterfield. It is certainly worth a visit and I will return.

Nice welcome and cosy Greek decor on a cold frosty night. Attentive service, at first, excellent Dolmades and Spetsofay. Kalamariwas well grilled and tasty. My wife’s Mousaka was cold in the middle and was replaced quickly without much apology but had no cheese on the top which arrived later with the comment “the chef didn’t want to put it on straight away in case it cooled down the mousaka..”. Not sure if that was an intended insult but it ruined my wife’s evening, and mine.

Went with a group of friends and to be honest not somewhere I would have chosen as Greek food doesn’t always inspire me. That being said had a very enjoyable meal....main course very good value and good quantity and quality. If I was being picky I think the starters could do some work as bit pricey and think could do more mixed platters of dips,etc. But that being said if we’d thought about it we could have done it ourselves. But if you want something different give it a try. The gyros are great !

We went last night after having a wonder to see the Christmas lights. This was a meal for two adults and a 13 year old.

Staff are super helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is super cheery, cute, and cha cha, meaning well decorated. The food is soooooooo freaking great! I was blown away!! We had the vegi mousaka, the meze variety, pitta bread, and another vegi dish that I cannot remember the name of, but that had giant mushrooms with a tomato sauce mixed with those little noodles that look like rice. The vegi dishes were incredible! I cannot explain just how different the flavor was, or how freaking great they tasted!!! Everything on the meze platter was fabulous! The pitta bread was fresh and unbelievably yummy! The waitress was supeer ontop of everything, she gave us water the minute we ran out, asked during every new dish if it was alright, we got a free frozen shot of ouzo votka, and fresh napkins and cutlery when needed. The staff were super helpful answering questions about the area as we aren't from there.

Finding ourselves in Chesterfield one evening last week, we looked for somewhere to eat, and came across the Odyssey Greek Restaurant. We entered uncertain if we were making a good choice

This restuarant has a lovely ambience to it and you do feel that you are in a Greek Restaurant. The waiting service is very good and the meals arrive at the table at an appropriate temperature. There is a wide variety of Greek starter and main meals on offer including vegetable options.Greek wines are also available starting at around £18.00 a bottle. The food arrived at the table well presented. We stuck to the vegetarian options and the flavours were lovely especially the grilled aubergine starter (but note that this starter costs £8.50). The Greek salad starter is a proper Greek salad with a large slice of feta cheese but comes in at £11.50. The main - vegetable mousaka - was very tasty. However, I was somewaht surpised to see that the vegatable mousaka was served in a dish on a plate with only a tiny pot of natural yogurt and a single slice of cucumber. The mousaka did seem rather lonely on the plate without any other accompaniments. In all the years that I have eaten in Greek restaurants, I have never been served a main dish without an appropriate accompaniment such as rice, salad, peppers or potato etc. Therefore, I regarded the vegetable mousaka that cost £15.00 to be poor value for money. If you aware of the lack of accompaniments at the outset, it is of course possible to order them at additional cost. So, although the overall service and food is good, I am not convinced that the prices are justified.

Went here with a group for a friends birthday. I've not been here before and wasn't sure what to expect but the food was excellent. There's not a massive selection on offer but what they do cook for you is great, everyone enjoyed their meal! I had grilled mushrooms for starters and they were delicious. For my main I had the salmon which was not only really tasty, was also presented in a brilliant manor.

What a wonderful evening. Great food, so full of beautiful flavours. I had the vegetarian skewers, the accompanying rice was amazing, to ‘die for’! Excellent service even though the restaurant was full. Reasonable prices for the quality of the food. They even supplied a birthday treat, an extra pudding surprise for the whole group.

We ate here on the back of so may good TripAdvisor reviews and the fact we love Greek food. Everything lived up to expectations. Tastefully decorated restaurant with nicely spaced tables. Very friendly and efficient staff - happy to offer advice and recommendations. Food was excellent, without exception. Decent size portions and a definitely authentic Greek menu - all food cooked perfectly. Can't fault in anyway. Highly recommend.

After taking 6 hours to drive from Brighton to Chesterfield we were ready to call for room service at our hotel. So glad we didn’t. Fantastic authentic Greek food. We spent all evening reminiscing about all of the Greek holidays we have enjoyed. The portion sizes are very generous (especially the pork gyro) but every dish we had was delicious. The restaurant had live music for for the first time. Great music if a little loud. The staff were very attentive. Would I drive 6 hours to eat here again - yes!!!

Visited this evening for our third time and as always the food and service was out of this world, there's a reason we keep coming back despite living a fair while away!

Just don't go here overpriced and lacking any authenticity. Pork fillet small with a lump of white rice and rabbit tough and flavourless. The meze starters all lumped together and dripping off small plate and charged for bread. Awful wine vinegar not red would work on chips .

Visiting Chesterfield for the first time with friends we came upon this restaurant by chance, what a wonderful find! On arrival we were greeted with a complimentary ouzo, food was excellent, cooked to perfection, all the staff went above and beyond to ensure a perfect evening. I understand this was the first night they had entertainment which was superb, by the end of the night everyone was dancing around the tables. Excellent Value for Money

Booked here for a birthday meal with my wife for something a bit different from the gastropub/bistro experience which seems to be the norm nowadays when venturing for food. The place is very tastefully done out. Extensive menu leaves you spoilt for choice. We have holidayed in Greece and Cyprus on several occasions and the food is authentic and as tasty as we have found. Pita breads are delicious as are the home made dips. Just beware of carb overloading, as several main dishes are accompanied with pita and rice and bread is also served FoC. That is not a fault of the restaurant but more of the wide eyes looking at the menu!! Will definitely return.

The Restaurant is in an redundant Pub and has been set up to be very strongly Greek themed. The menu is similarly 100% Greek.

We were a part of six, including one two-year old, for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was quiet when we ate, but I got the impression that it would be much busier in the evening (ie from the number of 'reservation' placards on the tables).

Had a fantastic deal at this charming and supper friendly restaurant. So welcoming helpful and excellent service Would highly recommend

The service and incredibly helpful staff were a highlight. Visited on a Thursday evening, the atmosphere was good the food authentic and delicious and good value. Also very accommodating to my brother in a wheelchair (they warned me in advance no disabled toilets).

Me & my wife came here for her birthday! We always tend to eat at the same 5/6 places so decided to try something new, we weren’t disappointed! The restaurant itself has lovely decor and a nice atmosphere! Food was absolutely fantastic, and I’ve seen some people bringing up pricing but me and my wife had a starter each, 2 mains, shared a desert a glass of wine and 4 beers and it was less than £70!! Nothing wrong with that! If you haven’t visited you should!!

This place is amazing! Great service and amazing food. We will definitely be returning. Lovely decor, made us feel like we were in Greece! The complimentary shot ouzo was a lovely touch.

Been twice in a month for mother’s day and a family birthday absolutely great both times food great, service great, staff very friendly and we would all go again in a heartbeat.

Visited for a Sunday evening meal with my gorgeous wife and two boys...

Each month my wife and I go out for a meal in the Chesterfield/Mansfield area and we have had some fantastic and some disappointing meals. The thing that disappoints about this area is the lack of diversity on the cuisine we have eaten all over and love foreign food, so when I discovered there was a Greek restaurant in Chesterfield I was delighted. especially as we have been to different parts of Greece 3 times and never had a bad meal.

This is a as close to authentic Greek food & hospitality you will get without travelling there. The interior was simple but welcoming and the staff attentive but not pushy . The food was presented with few frills , almost rustic . Great use of herbs and fresh ingredients . The prices are reasonable

Never heard of this place before today.

We've just returned from our first visit which transported us back to holidays in Skiathos and Crete. We were greeted with a shot each of ouzo to start the meal. Our starters, feta saganaki with homemade jam and grilled halloumi with balsamic glaze were delicious. The portion sizes were perfect, not too filling, if slightly pricey. The majns were chicken souvlaki, plentiful and succulent, and Greek meatballs in a light, tomato sauce. Both came with rice which was cooked perfectly and had a lovely taste. We were both full on two courses. With a glass of house white each, the bill was just over £53 which we were happy with. The service and ambience was excellent.

Have visited this restaurant on several occasions. Delighted to see that it was now doing takeaway food. Website stated that takeaway food was available till 1900 on Saturdays. Rang at 1815 to order, only to be told that the service stopped at 1800 on Saturdays as the restaurant was busy on Saturdays. I stated that if that was the case, the website was wrong, but would they take the order (1 portion of Gyros) given that the site was wrong. They would not carry out the order. Not as if it was a huge order for the kitchen to complete. Shows a lack of customer service, and it has lost two customers, as we won't be returning to the restaurant either. Put a dampener on our Saturday night. Well done Odyssey

What a fantastic place. We've been to a lot of Greek islands and tried a lot of Greek food and this was one of the best. We went on a Saturday afternoon and although we we're the only ones in there we cannot fault a thing. The food was amazing. Must recommend the pork tenderloin, never had a piece of pork so tender and tasty. Staff were really friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and we will definitely be returning.

If you want quality food, service and ambiance then you won’t go far wrong here. We’ve been several times now and are never disappointed. It’s always a lovely treat for us. Best place in Chesterfield as far as we’re concerned. Try it once and you’ll certainly be back. See you soon Odyssey x

Really great Greek restaurant. Great staff, food and value. What a find ! No hesitation in recommending.

We went here last night and the food was amazing. For starters I had the halloumi, yum, as an extra we shared the chips, these are actually crisps, they were very tasty and a selection of dips. I then had the prawns there were two skewers with three prawns on each one, these came with veg but I didn’t fancy veg so I asked them to change the veg for the rice and it was amazing. Can’t fault the service or the food. At £174.00 it’s not the cheapest of places but well worth it.

Loved it! Has a really nice feel to the place very authentic greek atmosphere. Staff were really good and the food was delicious! Finished off with an ouzo!

We had a lovely evening to celebrate my wifes 60th Birthday. Fantastic food eaten in an relaxed atmosphere. Couldnt be happier. Thank you to the friendly staff and especially Anastasia who helped us surprise my wife with some flowers and a cake. Will most certainly be back.

We were staying in Littlemoor for my birthday in January. I love greek food and my partner found this gem of a restaurant in Chesterfield. We went on a Sunday afternoon - Fantastic food, brilliant atmosphere and excellent service - will definitely be returning!!

Visiting for our second time for a birthday celebration we was left disappointed... we visited on a Saturday in December and had the best Chicken Gyros Wraps ever after the Chef made an allowance to cook these especially. We decided to go back as they were that good! Unfortunately on our second visit the Chef wasn’t so helpful as he wasn’t willing to swap the Pork for Chicken as previous as it was to busy in the kitchen. However the Chef was sat with various people in the restaurant for a lengthy period of time chatting. Sadly we won’t go back as the Pork Gyros didn’t live up to the Chicken Gyros wrap which is on the takeaway menu. The disappointment is the fact we had the chicken wraps approx a month before and it was only a case of swapping Pork for Chicken. To which I then had to order chicken skewers and pitta to try and replicate something similar...much to my disappointment when the skewers were lacking anything to desire, particualarly the salad which was nothing more than a bit of lettuce and cucumber. As a regular to eating out and from the catering industry myself, i understand individual requests cannot always be fulfilled however a restaurant like yourselves who surely pride there selves on catering fresh meals, doesn’t leave you with confidence when it isn’t even possible for me to swap rice for chips. Very disappointed ☹️

At night the Odyssey is so different from the daytime picture shown. Soft lighting, candles on the tables and nice furnishings really delivered a cosy, romantic setting for what was a fantastic meal. All the staff were brilliant: very friendly, knowledgeable about the food and wine, and very efficient and unobtrusive when serving.

We visited Odyssey for my wife’s birthday. We had heard good things about the restaurant and am honoured to say our experience was amazing. The best food I have tasted in a restaurant for a long long time. The service was equally great.

I booked this restaurant for me and my girlfriend, as we spent the summer travelling around Greece. The service, the food, and the ambience of the restaurant was excellent. If I was to recommend a dish I would say the gyros would win every time. If I was to recommend anything to the restaurant it would be to have a takeaway menu.

From the moment we stepped in to this restaurant the authenticity took us both back to holidays we had had in Greece.

This was our first visit to Odyssey. We love Greek cuisine and had been told by friends that this establishment was well worth a visit. It was. We both enjoyed a great meal and will definitely be returning.

We went there on Christmas Eve for the first time, we were immediately made to feel welcome, seated and offered drinks. The staff were all very friendly and worked hard to please. I had the farmhouse sausage in a tomato sauce starter with my partner enjoying the mushrooms, both were a good size and very tasty, mine in particular was very authentic. For mains we both had Rabbit Stifado, again very tasty and a decent portion size, yes lot's of bones as expected but you are given a side plate for these. For deserts I had Baclava and my partner the Greek Rice Pudding and again we both enjoyed them. All in all it is a lovely authentic Greek restaurant with great staff and great food, we will certainly be going back.

Picked this due to its Tripadvisor rating as we don't know the town & overall a rather strange experience. The room is nice and the staff friendly. But it is very overpriced, the food was extremely variable in quality, at best average, and the quantities were all over the place with some portions absolutely enormous. Some nice freebies but overall not somewhere I would ever return to.

Ate here very recently for the second time. The staff are attentive, the food tasty. However it is fairly pricey. £15 upwards for most mains which is more than i would expect. We had mixed starters of dips, breads and cheese which were tasty. We then has gyros, moussaka, youvetsi and stifado. I would like if some of the meaty mains came with tzatziki on the side as they do in greece...not necessarily the mains we had on this occasion but generally the skewers as they sound fairly dry and plain otherwise. Just a thought.

We went on Saturday night with friends, this was our fourth time to odyssey. We love it! The staff, the food, the atmosphere, who would have thought you were in chesterfield and not in Greece. We travel to Greece every year for the food and the people, so we know our Greek food.

Visited this restaurant on a Friday night with a friend. It had been recommended by friends B&B; owner, saying its good & you can always get a table.

I ate here with a couple of friends on a Saturday evening, if it was a hot summer evening you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in Greece, I would highly recommend a visit here

A great restaurant, with a wonderful atmosphere, superb menu and awesome staff, nothing is too much trouble, even down to toiletries in the loo, was great to be able to brush my hair after coming in from the blustery outside.

Went to Odyssey for lunch, my first visit. The food was excellent, brought back happy memories of Greek holidays. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely good again!

Shared a number of dishes. Had the chicken skewers, Gyros & Moussaka all of which were very good. The service was impeccable, especially from the young gentleman - well done.

We really enjoyed our evening here. Service was top notch, really friendly and helpful. Food was good though the starter we choose was a bit bizarre. But overall a really good experience. Would definitely visit again

We visited The Odyssey Greek restaurant, for the first time, on a Friday evening for a family celebration and had a great experience.

Our first visit to Odyssey we decided to go as a family for a birthday celebration. From entering the restaurant we were welcomed & explained the menu, all the staff were lovely and very friendly.

Me and my husband went for a meal tonight and it was delicious. The waiting staff were incredible offering suggestions and were very personable throughout the evening. Nothing was too much trouble. The meal itself was yum! Grilled aubergines tasted amazing and pork tenderloin melted in your mouth. Thanks for a lovely evening!

On a slightly grubby street in the centre of Chesterfield, near the big markets, and not much to look at outside, this place is a surprise. We were there at the tired end of a Sunday evening, but we couldn't have been made more welcome. The staff on duty (the owners, I should think) were friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was very obviously authentically Greek, without even trying - decor, style, food and some of the wine (though there was a reasonably wide-ranging wine list). A dozen locals were just finishing up a celebration party when we arrived, and had obviously had a great time. It's not particularly cheap - we had 1 starter, 2 mains and a small jug of wine, and paid £46.50 - but good enough value. And the quality of the food was good enough to make me want to go back there if we're in the town again.
