Good cinema. Lovely huge recliner seats. The Downside is it's very expensive over £20 a ticket and you have to pay for parking too.

I love this cinema, I actually love near newbury but travel here to see films with family who live nearby mostly cause the cinema is far beyond anything we have in Newbury, The seats are amazing and the screen is amazing quality. Why the 2 stars? Because duringynlast visit one of the managers was to put it nicely... A Karen. I ordered food and the staff member forgot to give me a receipt, so when my food was ready and it was called the manager refused to give it to me and actually started to shout at me because I had no receipt. The staff member who served me told him I had ordered it, but that wasn't good enough, he still called me a liar and told me I needed one to get my food. It was embarrassing and I assume he was on a weird power trip. There was barely anyone else around and I was the only one claiming food, so not sure what he was doing. It was a weird situation and it truly put me off the cinema.

First the good: comfy reclining chairs as standard. Lots of space. The auditorium is nice. But one's experience is less so: the Aircon doesn't seem to be able to cope. And when you get hot and sweaty on leather chairs, you tend to stick to them. But even before you get into the auditorium, you have to go through a rather unpleasant entrance. It's meant to be more convenient to use the automated order boards, but they are difficult to get to work. Then, despite there being lots of staff behind the counter, there's only one who's actually serving, the rest are fulfilling orders. It just feels unwelcome and set up for the benefit of the company and not for either staff or patrons.

All cinemas over charge for food and drink, but they do some good deals on kids boxes if you really do need to purchase something. Cinema itself is clean, the recliners are brilliant with loads of room. Sound quality is good, can be a little loud so for those with sensory issues I'd recommend taking some headphones, but its not much different from any other cinema on that front really. For me, what makes it special is the recliner seats, friendly staff and prices that won't break the bank.

Let me start with the positive. The cinema was clean as well as the washroom and seats were marked clearly. The negative, if I am paying for reclining seats at the price I paid I didn't expect to be bombarded by 25 minutes of advertisement, which should never be 5-10 minutes yes but not 25 minutes. Next is the staff in Aylesbury Odeon needs a lesson in hospitality they were 100% unfriendly even when I tried to break the ice. I felt as if I committed a crime and the guards were waiting to sentence me and my overseas guest I was entertaining. My guest was appalled at the hospitality shown. I am afraid you need to do much better.

The pricing of the tickets is ridiculously high compared to cineworld even for off peak shows. We booked tickets online and it was on screen 1 so we had to pay additional £3 per ticket apparently because screen 1 offers a special experience (none when you go in). The food prices are ridiculous and the service that goes with it is even worse. The staff look pre occupied and don’t give you their full attention, they are just happy to point out where you need to go. The screen size is small and it’s very disappointing for the price you pay. The parking is not free considering the price you pay for the tickets , so that is another £4-£5 out of your pocket. It is not shocking that cinemas are going out of business simply because the cost of tickets are higher than what you get and people prefer Netflix and Prime over going to cinemas. Having said that Cineworld a better option anyday .

I have to give the manger of this cinema a full five stars. I don’t know her name but my god is she good! Hubby and I have the monthly membership so go here frequently. Recently had problems with travellers causing havoc when watching films, people on the phones, taking pics and not watching the films, chatting etc….Ruins the experience. To her credit, if there’s an issue, she is either in there herself or a member of staff is sent straight in. Last Friday took a friend to see Jurassic Park in 3D, friend absolutely loves these films but never seen on the big screen. The film wasn’t working properly, caused the staff a nightmare! Really felt for them but in she came, apologised profusely and gave options to either have refunds or see if she could sort it out. Well, her and the team did! As we left she kindly handed out free tickets which I wasn’t expecting. A nice touch I thought. Really great at her job, needs a hefty pay rise and don’t loose her!!!! The only concern is the steep price rises. As of August 2023, Odeon are currently charging around £17 for an adult ticket or £20 for an isense screening. There's also an alert on their website that limitless for Luxe cinemas will be rising to £17.99 a month from September 2023. A visit to the cinema may quickly become unaffordable for most.
