ODEON Huddersfield in Kirklees

Had a fab time today at the Odeon seeing the movie COMPANION. 👌🏻♥️ (Amazing movie!) 📽️ Though it's a very quiet cinema with not much custom at the mo, staff are always friendly and welcoming. ♥️ This place is retro and always takes me back to the cinema experience of the Nineties! 😎🍿

Great cinema, lovely staff, stupidly expensive food (expected, it's a cinema), only fault was the group of teenagers talking and playing on phones during the film, and staff did nothing. Luckily, they left halfway through, as the script for Nosferatu was probably a bit taxing for Bruv and his homies. 😂

Dirty seats. Dirty floors. Food and drink crusted onto the floors. Very unhygienic. Customer service is poor took nearly a month to respond to an email. Even then it was just a template generic response. I would travel out to somewhere a bit better next time.

Not the comfiest chairs. The price of drinks and popcorn is scandalous.

I found booking seats online and then buying the food using the screens to order my popcorn was most efficient way to go. Staff are around and they are very polite and helpful.

Screen 3 seats were filthy in row H. All of them, and two seats broken. We moved three times to take the least grubby. It needs a proper clean, that level of filthy at a 1pm showing reflects poor housekeeping. When you read the standard replies on “we will ensure we meet consistent standards of cleanliness” then yes. The standards seem consistently poor though!

It was absolutely freezing throughout the whole building. We watched the film with our parkas and scarves on. Screen fine, sound loud.

So sad, had the worst cinema experience. Washed all my clothes following my visit. The cleanliness in this cinema is appalling.

Upon arrival, the car park was full, and there were no signs to sign post for an over flow. When arriving inside it was not warm at all. Not in the reception area or in the cinema rooms. I asked for a fruit shoot and they had none at all. The kids food combo selection was just like a random christmas chocolate from someones selection box! When leaving the cinema every single bin was full! So there wasnt anywhere to dispose of rubbish correctly. Carpets were not clean and definitely stained. Toilets also did not appear to have been cleaned regularly either.

Dirty seats, food from last showing everywhere, film not loud enough! Very rare do I leave bad reviews but it's worth paying more to go to a different cinema.. yes I skimped out and went here because it was cheap.. now I know why! Never again.. if could give 0 stars I would. Proper filthy would not recommend to anyone we rarely go to the cinema but when your 11 year old doesn't want to sit on a seat it kind of tells you a story.. and no we are not posh.. just clean!!

We had a lovely experience today. Every member of staff was welcoming, smiling and they quickly arranged a refund for a ticket we didn't need. My daughter enjoyed her churros, the screen room was clean and comfy. Not too hot or cold, but a little loud for me.

About 15 years outdated, uncomfortable seating, terrible car park, but, £5 tickets, can't complain really. Very nice and friendly staff make up the difference.

At £5 per ticket you can't go wrong! The seats are comfy- I prefer to be sat up so I'm not bothered about reclining chairs. The only glitch is parking. Nobody controls it so cars use it for the bar attached to the Town Ground. Not good. We missed the start of the film having to park away - offsite

Saw wicked and loved it, but it was a tiny bit loud. We were in cinema 8 and it looked like the screen needed cleaning, it looked like we were watching it through a dirty pair of glasses !!

Trying to contact the cinema for information about lost property is useless, have to use the contact page by email which goes to head office, no reply try live chat even the lady on there could not contact the cinema no one picks up the phone, leave all your contact details still no one responds. Get a better contact system In place, customer service is a waste of time

Food counter is horrendous not enough staff to get food out missed 20mins of our movie. Don't blame the staff they try their best.

We got our food and waited for so long we ate all our food outside of the toilets 🚻 it took that long to clean up but when we went in the cinema wasn't clean at all sticky floor gum on seat stain on the seat the movie was great 😀 but some people are just disrespectful not proud 🥱☹️🙁

Was told straight away that my work issued carers 🆔 badge was not acceptable and my client who I work for would have to apply for a UCI carers 🆔 badge but on this occasion we would be able to see the film . My client is wholly reliant on others and in a wheelchair and of all the times we've been we have never been told this before so why when they are selling seats at £5 my client had to pay £6.50 . We certainly weren't taking up anyone else's seat Update We also left very early from the film as the volume was ridiculously loud

We always come to the Huddersfield Odeon every few weeks, whenever we want to see a new film. It's always a great experience and such good value. We saw Dune: Part 2 here in January and it was incredible. It's always a great place to come and see the latest horror film too.

Solid cinema and nice prices (coming from London)

I had a nice experience, no food, but film was nice, few people, easy parking, low price. For me it was okay. Too many American films

It's a cinema. What more is there to say. It is clean, cheap, and you are guaranteed a good seat during the day time.

Reallly enjoyed the movie however the seating is a little confusing, i will remember to book the middle row on the next trip to Odeon

The cinema itself is good, but the area is weirdly dystopian. Places boarded up, overflowing bins, dimly lit.... like something out of a 1980's post apocalyptic film - Hollywood directors do you know about this place?

Went with the kids yesterday and had a issue with my booking a member of staff called ‘Matt Lees’ was extremely helpful what a lovely guy!

Multiple days in a row had tickets rescheduled for a “problem” with the film I wanted to see. No valid explanation, took 3 times to get a refund. Absolute time wasters.

Cheap tickets, but no security, so in the last 5 times I've been to watch something, there have been kids running into the screening and messing around.

Been going for years but place is now getting old and worn. Extremely cold during the 18:30 showing- had a jumper on with T-shirt but wished I brought a jacket and beany. Other cinemas “upgrade seats” are much better. Getting more disappointed each time I go- with cleanliness too.

They kicked me out for being gay and made my sister cry on her birthday and i asked for a refund and they didn’t give me it

Went to watch the film 'Lee Miller', which I thought was a good film. Went on a Tuesday afternoon, so it wasn't too busy, but a reasonable number turned up. Bright and tidy cinema. Nice comfy seats with good leg room. Found a car park space easily just outside the entrance

The wheelchair area is positioned too close to the screen, uncomfortable companion seats, and everything feels outdated. The only positive aspect was the staff.

Went on 18th August, staff extremely helpful, especially Imaan, very polite, friendly

I was surprised to see not many people were viewing a very good and newly released movie but I guess it's because it was on a Tuesday. The film was great and we very much enjoyed the experience but I fear for the movie complex - so please support the screen complex as when it's gone it's gone.

Local Odeon isn’t always busy and plenty of showtimes. Odeon saver also available £5 per movie.

OK I guess, if I didn't get the tickets for free I would be annoyed with the picture quality.

Had the lights switched on half way through a showing a couple of weeks ago. Along with the doors at the back of the theatre being opened, and people laughing during the showing. Went last night and several elderly people were told screen 7 for the André Rieu showing, which was actually half way through the Aliens film! Sort your staff out Odeon.

Clean cinema, food (chicken strips) were lovely, great customer service. Would definitely return.

Normally go to another brand cinema but thought would give a try. Paid extra for premium seats. No extra leg room provided. Seats were unable to be reclined. So much empty places looks like ready to close down. Staff looked miserable/bored as hell. Ordered ice cream milkshake which was runny. Fanta tasted awful and was flat as a piece of paper. Will be sticking to old cinema brand from now on

Film started more than 20 minutes late so I had to miss the end! Was billed to start at 12.10 but was sat watching ads till 12.30... extremely annoying.

Trying to find film information is a nightmare. After having made a choice of cinema (Huddersfield) all types of irrelevant information is spewed out. Just wanted to find out WHATS ON.

Brutally loud sound system. Genuinely hurt my ears, and made me fear about permanent hearing damage. Poor harsh quality sound system. Tried to charge me for two tickets when I was alone and asked to see a film. Low down seats. Film started 23 minutes after the start time the film was advertised to start. At the time the movie was supposed to start, it bombarded with 23 minutes of movie trailers. Prior to that was bombarded with loud-loud adverts.

Well took my son to watch the new Deadpool tonight all was going ok until the film broke 3 quarter way through had to wait a good 20-25 Minuit’s for it to resume had to re watch some of it too not good at all oh and the seats were very uncomfortable

Watched Coraline in 3d, Seats have been updated and they were surprisingly comfy, Very happy with my experience and Jack the manager was a great help!

Simple Review... I will be going to the Showcase next time I want to see a film.

Went to see Deadpool and Wolverine.Its now cheaper to buy tickets online than at the Cinema. Premier seats get a good view for £7.00. They don't recline and are non electric. Parking is free which is a bonus. Watch ou for match days as its next to Huddersfield stadium.

Just went into screen 2 and walked straight back out. The seats were so dirty and old, stained and fabric coming off

I have to admit that I have been really against going to the cinema since COVID rules were removed, because the films have been dire. It's like the disease ripped away any creativity that was once present in the film world. I'd say we're still not there yet, but there's a lot more films I'm at least willing to try because they are trying something different that isn't Spiderman 10. Also our closest cinema is the Vue. I'll go into all the reasons I don't like that cinema in the review for that particular cinema. The Odeon cinema has its own free car park, which is a miracle these days. The price is reasonable at £5 a ticket, so I'm willing to give more films a try. They clearly make their money in the food because it cost a £6 for a medium popcorn that was actually like a small. That's the only reason it's not a 5 star rating. Staff are nice and there's decent customer service. I can't fault them for putting on bad movies because they can only show what they've got! But I'm hopeful for a few coming out at the end of this year.

In need of some upgrades in terms of seating and borderline awful sound systems. Especially given the new cinema opening in Kingsgate. The quality is poor enough for us to drive out to Leeds White Rose when there's something worth watching. Near negligible difference between standard and premium seating which is a travisty giving the surcharge. Can't argue with their £5 off peak tickets though. Overall pretty standard for an Odeon.

Just turned up to watch Deadpool and Wolverine on its opening night to be faced with no parking! There’s a rugby match on and so the only parking available is right outside the Odeon and it’s already full, no doubt with match spectators as well as cinema patrons. It’s an absolute joke! We’ve already bought the tickets online, which you have to do now, so it rams we have the headache of having to go in and get a refund, and hope the traffic warden doesn’t come along as we’re in blocking a car in. The only other place to park is at a cost of £5. They seriously need to sort this out!

Love it here, the pizza hut right next to it makes it a lovely day out/date and the staff are always so polite and helpful, we needed to change our screening to a later one because ours was too full for me to cope with my autism and they changed it for us almost immediately :))

Don’t waste your time going by car if there’s a match on. They’ll let stadium visitors use the cinema car park (which fills up immediately) but they won’t let cinema visitors use the stadium car park.

Clean and tidy as is expected from a multinational chain. Has not been refurbished for many years, and the seats are showing their age. Parking is limited immediately in front of the cinema building, but there is ample parking within a short walking distance. There is a Costa, Pizza Hut, and a pub within the complex. Following refurbishment, ticket booths have been replaced with ticket machines. The usual outlets for cinema snacks and drinks remain. All the cine halls are on the second floor with access by stairs, escalators, or by a lift.

This month did 2 trips to this cinema and watched "IF and "Inside Out 2 they were good movies got premier seats with son and we loved it!

Great staff, good amount of screens but seems quite outdated. Would love to see a revamp of seatings/screens.

Seats are awful. Place feels like it may close down any day. There's never anyone in there.

Everytime I've gone here in the last 3 years, I've never had issues. The staff is mixed, some that come across far moody and can tell they don't want to be there, whereas others who are so kind and nice and welcoming, even when running late they still been nice, even helped me get try get cinema poster.

Only good thing is Always have parking and can walk straight in off street to watch a film. However that’s about it on the positive side. If you have not booked tickets the wait in line is horrendous always about four staff behind till but only one person actually serving customers the rest always Lloyd to him about trying to look busy but not I’m doing anything and one person as you come into the cinema who ends up telling you if you haven’t got ticket ticket just to go to the line and always looking really unimpressed and never helpful. Usually have to check off toilets to find one with actual toilet roll in the stall but to my pleasure (sarcasm) this time I it of all the. Stalls only had seemed to have this and turns out it was one last square attached to the toilet roll in the two hours? I was watching a movie with my two children. We visited the toilet at four times and every single time I had to go and say there’s still no toilet roll in the ladies toilets to be told I’m sorting it out and when I left two hours later, apparently they were still sorting it out because it was still toilet . Never just had a polite pleasurable and seamless service any time I’ve use that cinema.!!! To make a complaint once a year or so ago and just got done with very sorry that’s it I wouldn’t bother!! Poor service on a regular basis!!!

Odeon's service is always good and Huddersfield's Odeon is not an exception

Parking is a joke. The chairs in the cinema are disgusting and left either with food all over them or so worn you can the other side of them. The smells are also foul. Replace your chairs once in awhile.

Just arrived at the Huddersfield Odeon cinema and the auditorium was disgusting. Our booked seats were filthy and had chewing gum stuck to them. Other seats were broken. The toilets leave little to be desired. The whole complex is run down and in need of urgent refurbishment.

Avoid needs a good clean and the seats where discussing needs a good old revamp or justed shut it down will not be going back

Always good service. Clean and well kept. The films are always ontime and no disturbances.

Cheap and cheerful cinema. In much need of a refurb very dated the toilets are very old school. I tend to go here as the prices are cheaper on a Sunday

Visiting this cinema is one of my worst experiences. This cinema is absolutely disgusting. I was afraid to even sit in my seat, because the seats were extremely dirty, used and destroyed. When I got home, I washed all my clothes and had to take a long shower because I was afraid I might catch some disease. I wouldn't be surprised if someone brought home bedbugs from this cinema. Plus the staff were unpleasant and bored and the condition of the toilets was also a disaster. I would never think of coming back here again.

hot dog cooked to perfection, iced drink very tasty. Pizza base far too hard to eat very little topping very disappointed.

Dreadful customer service. Just puts the phone down. Your website won't accept payment from 3 different members of my family for an online ticket purchase. Its a birthday. We are trying to book. I've tried calling to see what the difference is when buying in store. I can't find that information. It might exist on your website somewhere but I'll be dammed if i can find it. Which leads me to think your intentionally making that information difficult to find. Now i will have to go down and pay full price. Your customer service is non existent. With a phone line that ends the call telling you to go online. I've reviewed you at 1 star. As I'm infuriated and i havnt even bought a ticket yet! If this system works so well why are we struggling 1 hour later. If this wasn't a young persons birthday i wouldnt have bothered. We will not be going to the Odeon cinema in the future after this experience long live the streaming experience!

Always great coming to the Cinema. So easy to book tickets and food online. Then just turn up, sit back and enjoy.

Nothing really positive to say, is like entering an abandoned building. There is no service to speak of, most staff struggle to smile or even acknowledge customers an has a very odd smell like a morgue (dead). The refreshments are over priced rubbish, that is still being sold in XXXL size. Add the absorbetant price for a ticket. Why would you bother 😕

This cinema could be great but it has some fundimental issues Sound I have seen several films in diffrent screens in this cinema and the sound is aweful. Its incredably bassy which is fine but there is no clarity in mids so when there is any music or speaking there is no clarity. It also feels like there is a strange compressor across the whole film audio constantly interfering with the sound levels. Projection The projection is mostly ok but it is not as sharp and crisp as other cinemas in the area. Seating The padding in the seats is very worn and it pushes you forward so your sat in the middle of the seat making you slouch which becomes quite uncomfortable over long periods. Smell The last film I saw was in screen 5 and the smell of the cinema was remenisent of an old peoples home. Toilets They are functional but not pleasent and could certainly do with a revamp. With some invesment this could become a popular well used cinema again but my feeling is the owners want to keep it open on a shoestring. My suggesgion would be to revamp 1-2 screens to have better audio, projection and seating and charge a little more for the experience otherwise people will continue to travel to nearby showcase, vue and rex cinemas when they want to see a film they care about.
