Arrived here for a 5 night stay at Haven, our " go to " chippy saltys was closed so we tried Ocean.... myself and my wife both had fish and chips it was all cooked to order and tasted lovely ... will return 100%

Hard working staff, but that's where the good ends. Low quality ingredients. Tastesles food. Lots of use of a microwave confusingly, I saw fish going in the microwave and then the fryer. I watched one of the staff make the gravey, she was trying to hide what she was doing and had a worried look on her face. I felt let down. You expect good quality fish n chips by the sea, this is not that.

Got a small chips today absolute rubbish inedilbe black some with skin On must have been reheated at least twice. Lots if hard crunchy bits Absolutely disgusting no wonder they are not busy. !!!!

I wish I didn’t have to write this review. I’ve used this Chippy for years. I genuinely found the food to be excellent quality and service great. Last night I returned to purchase family tea, admittedly first time there in a few months, to see a for sale sign in the window. It was still open and I went in and placed my order. Cooked to order was fine too. No complaints about the friendliness off the staff. Took my families tea home (just a 2 min walk away) to find that the chips and the batter were really poor. Like the oil haddnt been changed in weeks. Both a dark brown colour and the taste was stale. While the fish was piping hot so edible when stripping off the batter, it was quite frankly one of the worst fish and chips I’ve had in years. I hope the new owners return this chippy back to its former glory cause this was far from its glory days in quality. It always used to be the best in the town. Sadly no longer.

Service was spot on, was already on with an order, so the girl said she will be “with us ,as quick as she can”, so no problem at all with the service. Ordered just chips and a battered sausage, waited for the sausage to be cooked and came away with my order. Got home, well the chips were very poor, cooked in old oil, very mushy, the sausage, that was something else, I am ex forces , and you learn to eat anything, THIS is the first time I have paid for something and not eaten it, the sausage was absolutely disgusting, you can normally tell the price of sausages with the taste, well one bite was all I could manage, don’t know which wholesalers they were bought from, but I would not recommend these to anyone, to cap it all we took the batter off , and the dogs would not eat it.

Excellent food. We used the restaurant . Our fish and chips were freshly cooked . The fish was fresh and pure white flakey flesh and the chips crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect. Friendly & efficient staff. Thoroughly enjoyable meal. 😊

Went to oceans. Food was OK. Passable. But I was greeted to a. Very grumpy abusive assistant. She was rude. Asked for salt through utensils down. In a strop. She had short blonde yellow hair. Large build. With a round face. When speaking she smelt of alcohol. So I got impression. Drunk. I could also smell smoke all over her. This I consider off putting in a establishment that serves food. Incorrect change given no apology. When walking out a very rude comment made. And I happend to have gran children. With me. She looked untidy with trainers on. Being drunk. Smelling of smoke. Then having abuse is not good representation. For the chip shop. Well never go in their. Again whilst that individual. Works there. And we've spent alot over years. The. Assistant. Was of butch appearance and mannerisms. Please find a more pleasant. Assistant with. More pleasant. Professional. Thanks x

Freshly cooked, quality fish and chips Quick service - good value for money sit in or out or take away

After a horrendous breakfast experience in another location we hadn’t eaten much so decided on fish and chips.The staff here were so accommodating for my parents who both have mobility scooters and couldn’t do enough for us in ensuring we could go in to eat. The fish and chips were all freshly cooked to order. They were lovely.Somewhere I’d recommend and will be returning to next time I’m in mablethorpe.

After a friend recommended this fish and chip shop, we decided to come to Ocean on our first night in Mablethorpe…NEVER AGAIN!! The food was absolutely lovely but it was completely ruined by the rude staff, especially the manager. His attitude was disgusting and the other staff weren’t any better. If you can look past the awful service then great, but it completely ruined the experience for us and we won’t be returning.

Food ok for me although my husband didn't like his and threw half away. However, such unfriendly, rude, miserable staff. Customer service totally non existent. I have never experienced anything like them in my life.. ever!!!Will never go there again because of them and would spend my money elsewhere.

We went for a day out to Mablethorpe intending fish and chips dinner. Not been in the ocean before. Well it was beautiful. The batter was crispy. Very good chips. Not over priced. We will definitely be back!! Very friendly people, pleasant.

Always go to Ocean Fish Bar when visiting Cleethorpes. They have the best fryer. staff are so polite and helpful. Our waitress this time was Dana. Fantastic girl, couldn’t do enough. Thank you all

Whenever we are in the area, we always go to the Ocean Fish Bar, The food is always fresh, The staff are always so polite and very helpful especially Dana. The fish is the best in town, well done to all at the Ocean.

I live in Sutton and drive past 5 fish and chip shops to go to this one I love it never had bad food best in area. Ignore bad reviews just try it. Always get 3 sausages for the dogs and there always happy too.

Popped in, only customer. Asked for meat pie, chips and large mushy peas. Pie was so so, chips were overcooked, dark brown and mushy peas were small. After getting to house, I couldn't be bothered going back and will vote with my feet in future by avoiding this place as there are plenty of choices in Mablethorpe. Pictures taken of chips and the alleged 'large mushy peas'. Any smaller and they could have hidden them under a chip!!

Once again my husband and I have had a lovely fish and chip lunch at Oceans.Our order was cooked to perfection, lovely batter and great chips with mushy peas.Also included in the price of £6.95 was a mug of tea, breadcake and butter.The toilets are very clean, light and airy.Can recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a traditional, well cooked fish and chip lunch.There are many options on the lengthy menu including chicken and jacket potatoes.You will not be disappointed.They open 6 days a week from 11.30am to 8.00pmEnjoy

The fish is made to order, absolutely delicious, we sat outside in the sun, the portion size is huge. We will defiantly go back thank you to the fish fryer chap I did pop in and say thankyou

popped over to mablethorpe ,stopped off for fish chips mushy peas bread roll and a coffee ,wife had small fish and chips and cola..great service cook fresh ed in 10 mins ,good sized portions ,used toilets ,very clean ,,so all in excellent place and at just over £14.00 excellent value

So I have moved to Mablethorpe a month ago and I have used a couple of fish and chip shop ! so I thought I would try this established, BIG mistake the fish was grease and it was a rather nice shade of bright yellow, as for the chips they were even more disgusting than the fish burnt the could have been left over from the dinner time or later I can honestly say that they were the most disgusting chips I have ever had, so I suppose that's an achievement as I have traveled extensively around the world.So my honest opinion keep well away from this establishment, and yes I would have taken them back and complained but I honestly think it would have fell on deaf ears even my dog thought twice about eating the chips.

Moved to Mablethorpe 12 months ago but this was the first time we had used this chippy.Both had haddock chips and peas as takeaway. Fish was overcooked, not alot of chips for £2.50 and mushy peas resembled pea soup. We wont use again as there are numerous chippies in Mablethorpe.

i had a beef and onion pie and chips she got from frozen and microwaved it my son had fish cake and chips and a small curry sauce £8.35 and then pains all night long only went in has been in heron foods next door drove from leicester for this rubbish wants closing down

On the High St opposite the co-op. Clean, fast, friendly, generous portions. Well worth walking that tiny bit further (away from seafront) to find.

Today was our first visit to Ocean fish & chip resteraunt. We were recommended this place and we wernt disappointed. Cattered for my dietry requirements without hesitation. Fresh cooked Grimsby haddock in vegetable oil, no unhealthy beef dripping here. It was absolutely delicious and no greasy residue or after taste. We will certainly be back.

Day visit to Mablethorpe so called into Ocean for dinner ordered 2 fish and chips 2 roe and chips and a childs meal after waiting 40 minutes the apology for food arrived you could almost count the number of shrivelled chips on 1 hand and the 2 pieces of roe looked like 2 digestive biscuits yes they were that thin plus 4 teas, that came to a total of nearly £30, once bitten twice shy

This used to be the best place for fish and chips back in the day.....NO more,, soggy fish & chips, boiling hot no aircon on hottest day of year, fly killer not working flies keep landing on food,, no way will come back here

This Chippie has always been our favorite in Mablethorpe,The Fish is cooked to perfection with none of that uncooked batter that looks like an uncooked Yorkshire pudding.The batter is always crispy and melts in your mouth.Somehow the Chips always taste better and and crispy as well,none of those soggy things you get from a lot of Chippies these days.Welcoming Friendly staff, we had quite a good chat while we waited for our fish to cook.Will always use the Ocean when we ar in the town.

After visiting about 3 weeks ago and eating the Best Fish Chips I’ve every eaten... we drove the110 miles yesterday to eat them again and they were just as good, Fresh Large Cod Chips and peas special great value (£7.95) with a bread roll and a drink cooked to order, pleasant staff....already working the wife’s shifts out to plan another day by the sea with a visit to the Ocean Chip Shop a must !!!! Tasty food, all nicely cooked. Order was taken quickly and food was delivered in good time. The staff there though aren't half grumpy!! They totally let the place down. I would've given more stars if the staff were nice. I didn't see a single one of them smile. And it wasn't just one or two. It was every single one of them. None looked like they wanted to be there and spoke to us like they had better things to be doing. Whoever hired them needs to think about a staff overhaul!

Arrived in mablethorpe starving, this was the nearest chippy to the car park so decided to give it a try. I was with a friend in a wheelchair and access was no problem at all restaurant all on one level including a lovely clean disabled loo. Fish was freshly cooked to order with lovely light batter. All in all a nice little find and ideal if you have limited mobility. Would have got a 5 if the young waitress had been a bit more welcoming, a smile and hello go a long way!

Ordered dinner for the family. Chicken was dry. Battered Sausage was over cooked. Chips were dirty small and crispy. However I'd say it was an off day. The staff were really friendly and attentive.

Visited here on a typical summer evening, pouring with rain. The hot chips and the chicken were cooked beautifully and went down a treat. The Chip shop was clean, tidy and semlt great.

Grabbed a take away for me and my family. Quick and easy was the thinking. I was wrong on the first count. It was a significant wait whilst exposed to the ladies apparent disinterest in the customers. Almost barking at them when asking questions. In honesty, sometimes it's a good thing when you have to wait in a chippy as it can indicate that things are fresh and in fairness I watched the fish getting cooked to order. However when things were being taken out of the deep fat frier, there was clearly no effort made to drain any of the grease. When I got back to my cottage, I opened a bag containing the greases example of fish and chips that I'd ever come across. Underwhelmed with the whole experience. Something that had supposed to be a treat in my eyes. Such a shame!

Never again will we come to this place. the food is awful. we had ordered chicken nuggets and she had taken them out of the freezer and put them in the microwave and then into the fryer! the people are not friendly either

It all started with parking the car opposite to walk through town. Saw the chip shop over the road. Went over to get a take away then saw the restaurant through the back. What a welcomingk place, waited less than a minute to be shown to our table. Told about the offers and specials and left to choose. We selected the 2 course senior this comes with a drink bread and butter plus a choice of pudding excelant value.Whilst we were having our meal we were checked on more than once. Staff very friendly and attentive Including checking the toilets. One customer was in a wheelchair and before she even got to the table the chair had been removed to make space for her wheelchair so she did not seem to be a problem. Also the tables are not to close to get more customers in,the decor is very good and background music is there but soft. Well done we will return.

Have visited most of the fish and chip shops in mablethorpe and would definitely return here. Kids meals were great value and my fish was beautiful. 15p for a sachet of sauce was a bit much but other than that very good

as we were on a weeks holiday in a chalet we didn't want to cook so we had a takeaway the fish was cooked to order and was good the chips were a bit scappy but ok pie and chips fine service was ok but could be improved with more smiles

Decide on the spur of the moment to pay a visit to Mablethorpe. We had called into the Ocean chip shop on many occasions and have always had great fish and chips. We always sit in as none of our party smoke and we didn't want to sit outside with smokers while enjoying our fish and chips. The waitress could have done with showing a bit more enthusiasm in taking the order but other than that the meal was good. The battered sausage was just right for me. Crispy batter on the outside with a good tasty sausage inside. Overall a good meal and always one of our favourites.

After trying all the fish and chip shops in Mablethorpe over the years and slowly being put off eating in the town we tried Ocean as the last shop we haven't tried.The front is a standard takeaway shop, at the rear is a spacious two roomed restaurant.The young lady that served us was very pleasant and welcoming, the food appeared to be cooked as required, it was fresh. The servings are on the large side, well worth the money.We didn't study the menu but it looked quite comprehensive.Would happily recommend this establishment.

Stood waiting this evening for around 20 minutes. Three people behind the counter and one serving. I walked out!! I was third in the queue and one person was being served in that time, can't comment on the food....

We came across this restaurant which is next to the pay and display car park in the centre of Mabletherpe.When we were last there it was just a take-away but it has been extended towards the back and now includes two rooms with pine tables and chairs.There are me us on every table and we were surprised at the extensive range of food available. We decided on the fish and chip lunch. There was a choice of either cod or haddock, together with chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and also a generous cup of tea. Our meal was served on a large oval plate, the fish was huge and delicious, freshly cooked as were the chips (loads of them), the peas were served in a separate little dish.All this for £6.95The restaurant was exceptionally clean and bright. The ladies who cooked and served the food were al very pleasant and very helpful.We noticed there was a 'seniors' meal which was slightly smaller. There were other variations on the menu. Please try this restaurant I don't think you will be disappointed, the fish was amazing.Enjoy!

Called in as recommended by a neighbour and our usual chippy was closed for Christmas.Never again, God knows what the neighbour was talking about, the chips were burned and soggy, the fish tasted more like a potato wafer with about as much fish in as a potato wafer. Both my husband and I gave the majority of the food to the dog who to be fair did finish it up with a wag of his tail but considering what we have pulled out of his mouth in the past is no real recommendation, in future would rather go without than eat from this place.

its' motto should be,,, those who are about to die salute you... after eating there you feel like death... flabby flaccid grease laden chips with fish that the batter is only held on by oil and is so soggy...but antacids before you go .. to save yourself a journey later

Not a fan of this chippy. Chips were sodden with oil and only passable if you were really hungry. Husband threw his away. Haven't visited again.

Don't normally come here as not had good food in past, but was late evening and decided to give another go. Glad we did the Fish was lovely, we all had the haddock with chips, the fish was beautiful and the batter was just right, not greasy at all, there were loads of chips which were clean of bits and all of it was freshly cooked while we waited. Prices were same as other places in Mablethorpe and staff were very nice too. Will definitely return on a regular basis if always this good. Thank you

I used to go to this fish and chip shop for the past 12 years. Brilliant service fresh food BUT! as soon as it changed hands. The quality of the food is terrible, varied from microwaved Pie, more grease than fish for fish and chips, hard sausages and more expensive compared to its competitors.The last visit was awful, my portion of chips had over half the bag of batter bits with a hand full of old chips that was warm turning cold same for my partner. I really do not recommend going there. I now go to "Montys" for the best tasting fish iv ever had for fish chips and mushy peas.

what Saltfleet was offering, batter was nice and crispy, place was clean, not 100% sure on the taste of the fish but it was all edible, the kids had no complaints and the chips were deliciouswith a sprinkling of salt and vinegar.

My partner and i have been using this fishbar for several years. ALWAYS get a excellent service, ALWAYS enjoy the food and always clear my plate. I would recommend this fishbar to one and all.

Visited this place on the last day of a 2 week trip, and the only thing I wished was that I had found it sooner, because it was THE best fish and chips I had! It was extremely fresh Grimsby Haddock, excellent quality, generous portion, and simply amazing. Fast but not friendly server, but the amazing fish and chips made up for that. We would highly recommend this place!

Excellant.The staff are always friendly the food is always fresh.Fish is cooked to order in the mid afternoon or out of season making sure it is always fresh.The batter is never thick or running in fat.I live here and use this Fish and Chip shop all year round yet I have another about 200yds from my house.

A warm welcome, quick service, loverly Cod in the best lightest batter ive ever had normally I remove the batter but this was so light and not greasy. The portions were excellent. Will put this on my revisit list.

Called in on a Friday evening having arrived later than planned and in need of a quick food fix. Was busy enough to have our fish fried to order, generous portions and well cooked. Mushy peas and a fruity curry sauce were good too. Serving staff seemed generally unimpressed but maybe it had just been one of those days. Would definitely go again and maybe try eating in next time.

Visited with my family whilst on holiday. Services was great and the meal itself was hot and delicious. The fish was so tasty, plenty of chips even came with bread and butter and the or coffee. Special £6.95 adult and £3.99 children's which came with a fizzy pop.

Great food the fish are like whales must try when passing once you have tried the fish n chips here you will never want to visit another one in the area x

Have had cod and chips and sausage and chips, all really nice taste and size portions and reasonably priced, my only comment would be that they only cook cod to order so if you dont mention it when you first get in and wait until you are served you usually have a longish wait, not sure why they do this as everytime i have been there there is always lots of people ordering cod :-/
