Earlier this afternoon tried cookies and cream waffle, icecream sour as if gone off, waffle rock hard and broke my fork trying to get into it. Friend had donuts and said the batter tasted off too. But what's worst is my partner ate from the fish and chip section for dinner, and the lady on the counter for the entire duration we were there which was about half an hour, went from touching the till, to money, to food, to her face, her phone, and even someone's finger they had cut! Without any gloves or washing her hands! 5 star rating on the window seems a bit suspicious to me, especially given I have my own food business back home. Shocking.

Had lunch here with my husband on may bank holiday sunday, was extremly busy as you could imagine however food fresh, piping hot...highly recommend to anyone wondering where to go for a chippy treat. Staff work very hard too....thankyou to them all.....🤩

Extortionate pricing for the quality/quantity of food (£23 for X2 cod & chips) (£5 for X2 fruit shoot X1 can of cola). The chips were tasteless reminding me of Tesco home brand, portion was tiny. The cod was bland and dry and looked more like a battered sardine, I got more batter than fish. This place has seriously dropped below par, I have used this since the early 2000's and will not be returning again. They seem to just be profiting of the location without a care for quality, affordability and customer experience. Better choice would be a short walk to Monty's.

Amazing fish and chips, cooked fresh to order so have to wait a little but that is preferable for the taste and freshness. We had a large cod and chips with curry sauce and it was delicious, cripsy butter woth big white flakes of fish. And curry sauce to die for.

Went for a ride with my husband and stopped here for lunch. Large cod and chips with peas to share and 2 hot drinks. Came to a little over £20 which initially seemed expensive. However it was big enough to feed both of us and it was absolutely delicious. Don't be put off by the prices, well worth it. My only criticism would be the personal conversations from the staff right in front of us (we were the only ones dining). Will definitely be back

Visited Saturday 30th march with our family of 10. Got tables and seats at the back which was fine. Lots of choice, price wise was ok and we all enjoyed the food. Our first time in Mablethorpe for about 30 years

Seafront chip shop on Mablethorpe promenade. Food was lovely, but portion size very poor. VERY expensive at £45 for a family of four as the kids only had fishcakes and a sausage and chips.

We came in just as the shop was closing. Rather than being told to leave, which would of been reasonable, we was allowed to order. The staff turned the equipment back on and made us some lovely fish and chips. To our surprise we was also given free donuts, which really made our day. Not to mention the food was also fantastic… Thank you to the staff of Mermaid’s!

£11 for fish and chips (not sure what fish it was), but it was fairly thin. A pretty no nonsense offering as drinks/ mushy peas/ curry sauce/ tartar etc were all extra- and not cheap either. Average food and poor value overall if going as a family but it was convenient and filled a hole pretty well.

Only wanted to leave a review due to having some of the best fish and chips I have ever had. But to see so many bad reviews is baffling. All the girls working were great and food was superb definitely be back

EXPENSIVE!!!! Be prepared to have your wallet rinsed! Tiny portions for what you pay for. The service was friendly enough inside whilst ordering BUT when we were eating there was 2 members of staff swearing outside at a blonde girl. VERY unprofessional when kids are around. I do not recommend this place.

Marcies on Mablethorpe's central promenade should be avoided at all costs. There is no shortage of much better fish &chip shops around here. Marcies offer the poorest quality sausages, the stringiest fish, and woefully small portions of chips anywhere you can imagine. And if that's not enough, the staff member who served us is just plain ignorant.

Biggest rip off In mablethorpe, charged £9 for 2 trays of chips and they were tiny! Unfortunately I had already paid before they came, not even enough for my 7 year old daughter, disgusting! Will never go here again.

The fish contains a bit more oil, the fish is alright. We asked for one portion of fish and chips but ended up having 2 portions.

Located next to the pirate golf and rumoured to be direct descendants of Black beard himself the Mermaid owners have taken on the ruthless cutthroat ethos of their long lost swashbuckling ancestors and are ready to keel haul your wallets and purses clean out of your pockets at the drop of an eye patch!!!! If you’re willing to tolerate what seems to be the highest price for chips this side of the seven seas with a large chips (just in a tray) costing £4.50 and a large side of peas £2.60 plus potentially getting overcharged to boot (we were wrongly charged £9 for large chips and peas!) while being acoustically assaulted with ear-splittingly loud dance tunes from hell by all means give it a try - the chips are ok and the staff, who I’m sure receive a proper living wage (not!) aren’t unpleasant, but whoever owns it is obviously driving round in a Porsche with a parrot on their shoulder….

Great Fish and Chips only thing we found was that items were priced individually so if you ordered a OAP Fish, the chips were added on so with a portion of peas the meal cost over £10. Nice as a one off but couldn't afford to do it more than once

Just walked in and there was no sign outside to say they were closing. Very very rude staff on with no hello, sorry just we are closed! Ridiculous and certainly will never step foot in there again. It’s in a prime location as well right next to the beach. What a shame.

Popped in for dinner with the kids. Firstly really poor quality food, everything seems to be bought in as cheap as possible to maximise profits. This is obviously good business sense but the end product was awful. The atmosphere was not good, very cramped and the staff are just shouting at each other which is really not nice when your trying to eat your lunch. Staff seemed polite enough and the service was quick but quality was poor. The place is very expensive being over 30 pounds for 3 x sausage and chips and a portion of chips, 2x teas and 2x waters. The chip is in a fantastic position but is ruined by quality and extortionate pricing. Would not recommend.

Not the cheapest fish and chips I’ve had in England, but by far the best I’ve had so far! Lovely with a bit of vinegar, and I didn’t feel gross afterwards like I have before with some fish and chips.

Great freshly cooked fish and chips. Good portion size can eat in or out as the fancy/weather takes you. Great views across the beach and out to sea.

Good seafront chippy. After been massively disappointed by the fish and chips in the Haven site we were staying in, it was a good end to the break finding this place a mile down the road on the last day. I would definitely recommend.

Very rude man on till and unless you want to remortgage your house I would steer clear prices are a disgrace then they wonder why people stay at home will not be visiting again

Stopped by to feed a hungry family of 5 (and two puppas) Meal came to just short of £85 but couldn't complain about the quality. It was cooked to order. Ordered dessert, (£25) and as I am allergic to Cinammon, I let the lady behind the counter know and IMMEDIATELY she was all over it. Made sure my Donuts were separated at all times so there was no risk of cross contamination. She was super polite about everything and ensured the cook knew what to do step by step. Absolutely 10/10 service. 10/10 taste. 8/10 price. Will defiantly be back!

Just had the OAP fish chips ,sat outside looking out to sea.What more can you want.There was plenty enough, the fish was nice and the chips were hot,as it says everything is freshly cooked I would definitely go again

The best fresh fish and chips in Mablethorpe!!

Best chip shop around, we stayed in Skegness and came up to Mablethorpe. We tried a fair few chip shops and this was by far the best, the fact they sold warm donuts was a bonus too! The seating outside was nice. Staff were very friendly and efficient, will be visiting again on our next trip up to Mablethorpe.

Excellent, freshly cooked, delicious cod and tasty chips. Didn’t have to wait too long. We sat outside and ate them looking out at the beautiful beach. We visited here because it seemed to be the only chippy open, we weren’t disappointed. Very good price as well, only £9 for cod and chips, £11 at home..

We always visit here when in Mablethorpe, not the biggest fish and chips, but always we cooked and delicious. Cheesy chips and gravy is by far the best!

These are the best fish and chips I've ever had fish was light and crispy and both fish and chips were cooked to perfection. So good we had them twice in 3 days

We usually go to Saltys but tried her one day on our holiday it was lovely we even had desert's here the next day we arrived a little late think was about 6pm my wife went in as we really enjoyed the day before but literally as she ordered our for kids they were throwing away the chips as was end of the day if only we had been a minute earlier! We did go back to Saltys but rest assured when we visit again will go back as really enjoyed the food here.

We came here on bank holiday Sunday myself and my husband work full time so managed to get a few hours away from work so thought we would drive to mablethorpe to have a walk and some lunch. Added bonus even my 16 year old child wanted to come which was a very rare occasion. We had a lovely time walking and looking for some where to have a spot of lunch. We saw Marcies and thought we would stop there and sit outside and have something to eat. Ordered battered sausage chips and gravy for myself and something for my son. Husband didn’t want anything. We sat outside and waited for the order which was quick to come. When I went to get our order mine was wrong I had just a normal sausage so I politely told the lady who served me and she went to speak to who I can only presume as the manager or person in charge that day. He came over and just said I’m not changing it it’s now got gravy on it. I told him I had ordered a battered one and he said well it says sausage in the receipt, yep I can see that but she must of not heard me correct, even my son said he heard me say battered. The manager was just plainly rude wouldn’t listen to me and had a bad attitude. I sat down to eat what I had been given and it was absolutely disgusting. The chips where hard and extremely dry and the gravy was the most tasteless gravy I have ever tasted. As for the sausage well I took a little bite out the end and it the cheapest sausage to even of been the misfortune of being in my mouth. I took the whole thing back to them and just left it on the counter outside where they serve your meal to. I wouldn’t even of given it a one star to be honest but it won’t let me take it off. Please stay away people if you want to have something worth eating.

Always use this chip shop when were in Mablethorpe and we've never had any issues

We went to Mablethorpe for the day. We gad a fabulous day. We decided to treat ourselves to a fish & chips supper before we went home. What a treat. The fish was amazing. The batter was very light and there was plenty of fish. The chips were good too. We can definitely recommend Marcie's.

Went in today and placed a large order £99.60 Get back to caravan to find a portion of fish & chips missing They had placed to order in 2 carrier bags Couldn’t find a phone number to complain Such a shame that care wasn’t taken to ensure all was correct Very frustrating

I live locally and didn’t realise this gem was on my doorstep. The food isn’t greasy and it’s all fresh. Staff are all polite and the wait isn’t ridiculous,considering the time of year and volume of people they have to serve. Will definitely be back again soon.
