Ocean Cafe Mediterranean Bistro in Edinburgh, City of

We come here fairly regularly, think it's pretty good, certainly better than a few of these reviews say. Coffee is better and far cheaper than Starbucks opposite, food is generous, baklava is one of the best I've had outside the middle east and equal to any I've had in Edinburgh. Yes the service isn't always the friendliest, but we're there for the food/convenience/coffee & baklava all of which are excellent.

4 stars mainly since we just had drinks from here and I can't say how the food actually is. The service was really good, and they were very accommodating. I'd come back if in the mall again

Friendly service, a wide range of very tasty and mostly freshly prepared food, great coffees and flexible opening hours. Recently delicious French toast and Turkish baclawa. Were very kind when someone was feeling unwell, gifted free coffee. Nice indy business. Great views out to the harbour, takeaway on sunny days and sit overlooking Britannia. 😊

The owner of this place is rude and very arrogant he has no manners how to deal or talk to people kids were playing in the sand pit area but this rude man named Hussain who's apparently the owner of this place started shouting at them for no reason and was extremely rude to 5 and 6 year old kids than charged £2.50 for 1 banana I would never ever go there

Chips weren't cooked properly. Could tell they were frozen but not heated through all the way. Toastie was very basic and they got my order wrong. Bacon on friends roll tasted like it had been left out all day and was not fresh.

Had to collect our own menus. And return plates after diner so service, at best a 1. Atmosphere... not shared 2 words with anyone so no Atmosphere or interaction.. And the food... lol... dry , unseasoned, pretty blade tbh. Then the dreaded hair was found. I made staff aware and was told it " it's part of the salad". Omg...sorry folk won't be back. Have the pics. But can't get them on here.reasinably sure why.

Food is ok. But I said I wanted Four scoops (£5.70). He insisted on giving (and charging us) 4 One Scoops (4x£2.8=£11.2). Very dishonest staff / owner. Stay away from this shop.

Pretty grim vegetarian breakfast. Microwaved hash brown. Luke warm food served on a cold.plate and swimming in cheap hard baked beans. Overpriced, could not eat. A waste of money. Cannot recommend sadly. I feel thoroughly ripped off

Found this cafe yesterday. Delicious cakes. Absolutely lovely couple behind the counter. Just what this centre needed. Lovely food at reasonable prices. Will definately be back soon.

Great place for a snack or lunch with friendly efficient staff a varied menu with something for everyone's taste. Visited again today & had an omelette & my wife had porridge with soya & fruit. All very enjoyable & excellent value. Tasty looking cakes & tray bakes also!.

Label said “VEGAN baclava”, when i ordered one i was told that it’s actually not vegan. Lying about your ingredients is a health and safety concern as well as disrespecting your customers

came in for brunch, we ordered some food with coffee. waiter accidentally spilled coffee on my partner’s coat. as someone who worked in hospitality before, we were upset but understanding and felt sorry for the waiter but what made the situation extremely awkward and uncomfortable was how the situation was handled. no one came to clean our table - we had to ask for extra napkins to clean the table and to try clean the coat. then the waiter came to mop the floor and wipe the other chair after a few moments and apologised but the other guy’s handling of the situation was shocking - he came over to our table and literally asked “why did you put your coat there?” and started to laugh. He was the one who took our order at the counter - we were appalled by this and didn’t know what to say and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. we even had to clean the table and got weird looks when we asked for extra napkins. when I got my order (chicken burger) it was literally just chicken and two buns - no sauce, no extras, nothing. there was chips and salad on the side but if I knew this is what their chicken burger looks like I’d order something else. overall the food is ok/average - you can tell it’s pre heated but the customer service is definitely something they need to work on

Every day when ı go my work, ı am taking my morning coffee from here. Every day same taste same quality coffee and friendly personal.

Not the best... My friend ordered a steak burger or something like that but when it got served, it obviously wasn't a steak burger, it was a meat patty. When we tried to explain that this was not what my friend ordered: one of the serving girls was beyond rude storming off when she couldn't understand what we were trying to say and also when we couldn't understand what she was saying.. when the manager came over she explained that the steak burger was just the same thing as the regular burger ? ? Something like that. Like girl what. I dunno if she was associate manager or manager but she was pleasant enough. Food was tasteless, low quality and gloppy. The food that was advertised was obviously some colourful images from google and nothing like the real thing. Just go to Pizza Express or Nando's upstairs...

Had a full Scottish breakfast was lovely, staff were nice and good price

The filled roll was amazing. Light, crispy and full of taste. The filling was tasty too.. reasonably priced. Don't expect a fine dining experience but it's great for what it is! Would definitely come again.

Terrible experience, the worst cafe I've been to in Edinburgh. Staff is extremely rude, the drinks were barely drinkable. Avoid it at all costs.

Avoid if possible, very cheap frozen food and nothing mediterranean. Specially avoid fish and chips, its breaded, not with batter. Everything is low quality cheap frozen food. Theres many restaurants around, I recommend to check other options

Terrible food. Terrible service. The food was so bad I couldn’t even finish my fish and chips. Chips were awful(first place ever in Scotland I had bad chips which speaks volumes about how bad this place is). Fish was pretty dry and barely average. I would never return here again and would advise you to avoid it. Service wasn’t particularly friendly either so there is no redeeming feature for this place. Avoid.

The staff who took the order were pleasant, but that was it. The server plonked the plates down without a smile or comment. The food was pretty horrendous. Avoid the stale, unappealing bagel that came with the scrambled egg and salmon at all costs!

I have never left a review in my life for anything, if somewhere isn’t great i just don’t go back but WOW the food I had today was absolutely awful (just pasta) so can’t be that hard to make. My 2 year old food was inedible re cooked chips and grease dripping of chicken so she didn’t touch it. Was £10 so wasn’t cheap for kids meal. Service and attitude from our server was awful so also wasn’t happy about the 10% service charge that was automatically added to our bill that’s probably the reason for the poor customer service.

Food was great from this place, and service was good too. We had breakfast while waiting to visit the Britannia; would happily recommend. Prices for breakfast were reasonable. The unfortunate part of this place is being in Ocean Terminal, a drab, dreary, empty ‘shopping’ centre.

It took long time to take it and my order was skipped. So bad experience.

Avoid!! So expensive for what you get. Scoop of ice cream in tub was £2.80 and was the smallest scoop of ice cream ever. Man serving looked bored too.

Will not be back. Do not recommend. Both our orders were incorrect. Asked to see the manager and instead the chef came out. First told us that was the order he received, then proceeded to say that if we reported to the manager, then the person taking orders would get into trouble. Told him we merely wanted to make them aware that there is a problem that could be solved. Food was mediocre, but pricy for a toasted sandwich made with the crust (end of the loaf of bread)

Food was delicious and quick just what we needed. Staff were really friendly! A great place for a bite whilst shopping :)

Nice food good coffee not to expensive considering it is next to an attraction.

Nothing is Mediterranean or authentic taste, extremely small portions & overpriced! Better choices around exist. Not recommended.
