Altho my fish chips and mushy peas were nice and hot my friend had the pie, we asked if it was homemade, it didn’t appear to us to be homemade, altho hot more like a pukka pie, poor filling and the plate was a wash with thick gravy.

Fresh fish, chips, mushy’s, bread & butter, milky coffee and a dish of apple crumble & custard for…… £8.95 ✅ Served with a smile by a lovely girl who loved the Bichon’s in tow ✅ Sat outside in the sun and watched the world go by ✅ Loved 🥰 it & thanks 🙏

Arrived for breakfast. Menu was a little pricey compared to other cafes. I asked if they could do poached egg on toast instead of fried or scrambled, one chef said yes, the head chef then said no. My partner had the large breakfast abs and if he could have toast instead of the fried bread, we were informed they couldn't swap the fried bread for toast but they could take it off and swap it for a sausage?! We could order toast on the side though! We asked if the toast could not be cut into triangles as it makes it difficult to make a butty - the toast came in triangles. They did bring an extra slice of toast after all the problems we had. Cash only, made a lot of customers leave too. Unfortunately, we won't be attending again.

Out with my 78 yr old mum. Tried to go to other fish and chip restaurants but they were seriously overpriced and like sitting in an arcade. Found this place. The staff were great. We both ate for half the price of the other places. I’m guessing the ones moaning are middle class hipsters who don’t get working class food places.

Absolutely disgusting! Food was extremely overpriced with small portions. No facilities for disabled. Had to walk up an absurd amount of stairs to get to the toilet. When I told the staff about my problems they laughed and had no sympathy for me. I will never return here again and I would not advise anyone else to.

Very expensive prices for poor quality food and small portion sizes. So much better choice within 2-3 mins walk time don't even bother with this place.

Had the pensioners special. Cup of tea fish and chips apple crumble and custard. Generous portion of everything and all served hot and freshly cooked. Polite service and spotlessly clean. Amazing value at £5 99. Left a generous tip as we thought very well deserved. Paid a lot more at other places and not a patch on Ocean Cafe.

My partner wanted a full English, we stopped at the first place we saw serving breakfast at 12 noon. So pleased we found this delightful cafe. We received fantastic service from the lady running the cafe. When ordering, she asked questions to ensure we received what we wanted & explained about additional costs. The menu is detailed so you can have whatever you like & the cost per item is included, so you know what you are paying for. The food & drinks arrived quickly, lovely & hot. I really enjoyed my coffee & breakfast bap. You have to pay cash but the lady showed us where the nearest cash point was. If you want fantastic customer service & great food,at a good price, I recommend this cafe to you.

Called in after watching our daughter in a hockey match. The welcome was lovely, staff all very good and very pleasant. We had fish special, oap fish special, fish cakes and chips, and teacake. Couldn't fault any of it and a lovely surprise of apple crumble. Couldn't believe the price of less than £25 including drinks! Would highly recommend

Called here while in Skegness was asked to sit at a small table as there was only two of us ordered pensioners fish n chips the fish was fresh and tasty chips too was tasty and served quick by the time we had eaten the tea cup was only warm wasn't asked if we wanted a mug of tea the bread one slice each was only buttered in the middle we enjoyed the meal and would return we found the place clean and the staff was too and polite THANKYOU

Out of all the fish and chip restaurants in Skegness unfortunately we choose this one. We could not hear the young waitress and in the end we pointed to the first item on the list large fish and chips. When the meal arrived it was the second item on the list the pensioner special. Must admit the manager did come over when we complained and offered to change the meals but we where due to catch a coach. When we went to pay we where astonished when they didn't take cards. But once again apparently it did say cash only on the menu, Unfortunately we where struggling so much with the waitress ordering our meal we didn't notice it. Finally the toilet was up s 2 steep flights so for any disabled or older customers like myself they would not be able to use them.

We ate at the cafe last year and it was nice so we thought we'd go again this time. I don't know whether it's different staff but it was terrible. Two slices of toast only buttered in the centre, egg on toast that was the smallest egg on two slices of toast. They forgot my daughter's toasted tea cake and we had to ask for our drinks. They tried taking our plates when we weren't all finished. The staff - whilst polite enough - were just lacking in any order or customer care. We won't be going back there again.

We had the traditional fish & chips with peas & bread & butter. Just enough to satisfy a dinner time put you on. Clean & good service & very reasonable price. Covid conscious & tables spaced nicely apart. Thank you.

My family and I went to this cafe on 3 morning occasions, the food had such fast service and the food was cooked to perfection - I couldn’t fault it! We even got an extra milkshake, and the food wasn’t expensive whatsoever - I completely...

Really lovely service today, only had one person on the front and they were doing an incredible job. Can't commend them enough for their positive attitude, polite service and smile.

Spacious with a good reasonable priced menu all freshly cooked to order. Can go in just for a drink no pressure to eat. Staff are friendly & welcoming. we got sandwiches to take for our journey home on our last day as well. Thanks we will defo be back next year

We’ve been here a few times and the food was good. But what I’m really disgusted about is the owner. She’s rude to her employees. You can hear the attitude and the rudeness in her voice! I can’t say her people skills are great with her customers either! She looks miserable, I feel for her employees, they seem nice (from the ones who have served us). Over all if you want only good food it’s a good place. If you want good food, good service and friendly faces this isn’t the place to go. If they had a change in management it would be a completely different business!

Nice cafe, nothing special but tea and teacake were nice. The menu does appear to have a lot on it but we just wanted a snack.

Me and my wife visited this cafe twice. The first visit was Wednesday the 25th of September 2019. My wife has Fishcake and chips, I had Cod and chips. Both meals were ok. The second visit was on Friday the 27th of September 2019. We both, regretably, had Fishcake and Chips. The Fishcake and Chips my wife had seemed to be homemade. It was a mistake as the Fishcakes we had seemed to be from somehwere like Asda or Homebargains. These Fishcakes were truly awful and tasteless. What a shame. I don't think we will be visting this place again. In adddition to the above, the Toilets were disgusting. Dirty and the floor was so sticky. Truly awful and disgusting.

We popped in as they were advertising tea/coffee and a scone or toasted tea cake for £2.75 which is all we wanted for breakfast. I wanted decaf tea but in the cafe, all they had was regular tea. Lacking any choice whatsoever. The tea cakes were nice but barely tepid on arrival. The lad serving came into work wearing a top that had food spilled down the front, probably from work the previous day! Yuk! A regular greasy spoon cafe. Glad I didn’t get anything more substantial there.

We came In Here Sunday morning and we both had full English and it was very nice and warm came with a cuppa as well really enjoyed it we will be using again next we are there for a night clean place friendly staff with table service rate services 10/10 we use again very soon

We went in for breakfast, I had the big breakfast, not sure if the word 'big', was used correctly but never the less it was nice. Service was good, polite enough, though its unusual that card payment was not accepted, no big deal, we just had to pop over the road to get cash, just wasn't practical.

Very pleasant service, hot steaming mugs of tea. The cod was fresh and the chips hot and crispy. Good value and better than many. They served the four of us quickly. It was nice and warm too on a wet February Sunday

Was walking by this cafe and noticed they did a Seniors Fish,Chips with bread and butter and so decided to give it a go. We weren't disappointed, the order was placed and when it turned up it was immaculate, the fish was skinless which my wife loves so the meal got off to a good start. The chips were crispy which is how I like them and the food remained hot for a very long time which is another feather in the cap for this establishment. The meal was washed down with a banana milk shake presented in what I would call a traditional milk shake glass, dating back to my childhood !!

Not even worth writing review. for what i paid for a large breakfast and what i received very poor. My partner asked for eggs on toast. what she received one egg and two slices of toast.

We called in for breakfast while on holiday and were very pleased. The all day breakfasts were very tasty and the coffee was much better than you normally expect. It was spotless and the young man was very polite and helpful. I would certainly recommend it to any visitors.

Found this restaurant by chance early in our holiday when we were looking for somewhere simple and 'traditional' to grab lunch. We ended up here every day for the rest of the holiday as the food, ambience, and service was so good. In fact, it's the first time ever I've taken a 'food picture' (mainly to show my eldest what he was missing, but hey, 'mean' mummy here *lol*). Service was great from the first welcome and throughout. The food was all fresh, great quality, and cooked to order, but with a very short wait compared to some other restaurants with a similar menu, and good portion sizes. Prices were at the cheaper end of average. The restaurant itself is relaxed, airy and has some very interesting old pictures on the walls. Can most definitely recommend for a traditional seaside fish and chip experience. We never got to try their dessert menu as we were always full from one course, but it all looked very nice. The milkshakes were lovely.

Met up with some friends and went in here for the fish and chips advertised on their special board,very good value for money,came with bread and butter and a mug of tea or coffee,would certainly return again .

Called in just for cup of tea and some toast. It wasn't very busy. The young lad serving on the counter was really friendly. When he brought the tea to us it was really strong. I appreciate they can't please everyone but we prefer tea not too strong. We took it back and asked him to tip some out and add some boiling water so it wasn't like builders tea. He did this in a really friendly and helpful way. The toast was thin sliced bread with cheap butter on it. Again it's down to our personal preference but we prefer thicker bread with "proper" butter. I should imagine that on a busy day it would be very cramped as there were lots of tables very close together. It didn't bother us as the café wasn't busy.

Went in this cafe 15th /4/18 previous visits have been okay , but this time,was awful ,i had cheese burger n chips wife had egg chips & beans, my first burger was cold & chips were tasteles sent the burger back & a new hot one was returned, lacked taste of any sort, my wifes she said was poor quality, we will never go in again

Went here for dinner while on a day out to Skeggy. Not many people in but I guess it's the time of year. Looked at menu and picked the gammon only to be told there wasn't any! Ended up with chips, egg and sausages. Egg was nicely cooked but the chips seemed to be the frozen kind and the sausages were tasteless. The coffee I had was very weak and lukewarm. Won't be going back to this place next time I am in Skegness. (My friend picked this place, not me). Will stick to the proper "chippy " places in future.

Visited this cafe on Saturday dinner time for some fish and chips. Wasn't very busy but that could be down to the awful weather that weekend. I had the large cod special with chips, mushy peas and bread and butter priced at around £6.45. I also had a large mug of coffee as well. Service was quite quick too. When it came I was asked if I wanted any sauces, I asked for tartare and got several sachets of it which was good. The fish was huge and tasty, there were plenty of chips but were a bit tasteless, not like seaside chips, more like frozen ones. Mushy peas and bread and butter were ok. Would have been better if the coffee was included in the price which made the whole meal slightly overpriced in my opinion.

The Ocean Cafe is a very nie place to have food in very clean and reasonable the prices r plus staff are friendly there as well .

Absolutely disgusted by this place. Came in the other day for dinner, as we normally do with my Nan and Grandad when we visit Skegness. Thought we would go there with sister in law and boyfriend after saying how nice it usually is. For them to turn round and tell us we cant come in because we had a double buggy. They said there was "no room" even thought there was probably only 4 tables full?? All the back was free, which is where we was about to go. As we didn't want to get in the way of anyone. They told us we would have to leave. How rude can you get? We went elsewhere for 4 meals which they lost out on, which was beautiful. Lovely polite staff, even let us warm bottles up for the twins. We thought we would go back in there on the way past and just mention how appalled we are and how it made the mother of the twins feel as she struggles coming out of the house as it is. For the man behind the counter to smirk and try not to laugh. Disgusting behaviour and will defiantly not be returning here !!

Me and my husband went there for a coffee and a sandwich when we first got to Skegness service very poor sandwich dry and no taste at all we will not go again to eat or have a coffee there staff not very good not good customer service

Went there today one of my friends had a cheese and ham cob it was tasteless and a very small amount of poor quality cheese sprinkled on top, my other friend had omelette and chips she was charged £10 for an omelette that was not cooked properly chips that was bland and hard. we told the staff and she said that is how it comes and she was very abrupt in her manner, I had a breakfast about 10 minutes after leaving I had severe stomach ache, they do not know how to prepare and cook food. Enter at your own risk but I do not advise it.

We wanted a slightly healthier option than the traditional good old English fish and chip shop. On entering we found a seat place was clean but not fancy in anyway. I ordered a cheese and ham roll and asked for Salad it doesn't come with salad Can I have a bit of tomato on it .... I will pay extra ..no Sorry My friend ordered an omelette and was asked would you like Chips with it she accepted and then ham as well oh we can but it will be extra . The service was at best acceptable various waitresses wandering about but basically looked like the dementors had removed all oxygen from the air No smiles just a lollipy wander. Our food Well If you can call it that came out I had a very dry cob with a very small portion of tasteless rubber cheese ( the tyoe you buy in Tesco with a white label and it bounces f you drop it and artificial ham. I guess I was lucky my companions had an omelette that was undercooked Tasteless cold and congealed . Chips tasted of fat nothing more basically cheap frozen and dropped in a pan of oil. The colourless flavourless chips were warm but that is the best you could say about them. When we remonstrated with the waitress she said that is how it comes. Undercooked should never be how it comes but put it down to experience an we paid and left . we will never return

Came in for lunch today. Ordered one roast beef dinner, sausage, egg and chips and a child's roast dinner. Pretty standard British fayre.I've never been anywhere that there was not even one component of the meal was edible. After trying the food it was like a very cheap microwave meal. Everything was cheap and poor quality, badly cooked, reheated in the microwave and was bland and salty.Waiter saw that the food was untouched and said i guess you don't want the ice cream that comes with the kids meal and looked embarrassed. Just because you run a business in a tourist area and dont rely as much on repeat custom shouldn't mean you can serve people pig swill. Have some pride.

Just had breakfast at ocean cafe asked for a medium one got 1 sasuage a cold egg a thing called a rasher of bacon and cold beans with a hash brown cost £5 the owner told off the staff for not doing anything in front of everyone when there was nothing to do the till would not work he then looked at us as it was our fault I would give this place a wide berth do not wast your money

We have not long got back from a trip to skegness and decided to have a medium all day breakfast wish I hadn't have bothered you could put it in a sandwich the beans were cold one slice of overcooked bacon half cooked hash brown (1) one really low quality sausage and the smallest egg I've ever seen . half way through eating a man gathering it was the manager was shouting at the serving girl he was so ignorant and very rude I would not even bother to get a job there with the rude management ,I would recommend no one eats at this place !

visited this cafe for a early morning breakfast last week.I ordered a medium 5.25 breaky..It was the bare minimum also luke warm. The sausage was low quality style to. I can see why no one else was in there. The front doors were wide open blasting cold air in .I left hungry and cold ,never again .

This place is very poor value for money and poor quality,I and my friend visited this cafe I was charged £4,25 for 1 egg and 2 toast the bread was very thin and not the best quality my friend had a medium breakfast at £5,25 and it looked like a child's breakfast the doors were wide open so the cafe was very cold food was not hot so it was stone cold very fast.please avoid this place if you are wanting a good breakfast because it was the worse deal in Skegness I could see

The food was average at best, however, the manager was incredibly rude and unprofessional to one of his employees, swearing at the waiter in a raised voice for no obvious reason. I was appalled and won't be returning.

Found this place on a day trip to Skegness. Looked in a number of places and settled on this one and it turned out to be a wise choice. Two meals, and two drinks and got change out of £12. The fish was white and obviously very fresh and the mushy peas were just the right degree of gloopy. Bread and butter too. Why not five stars? This is one of few places I have recently that serves knickerbocker glories. However, they had no jelly so couldn't provide me with one. I didn't think knickerbocker glories had jelly but there you go!

Exactly what you expect from a breakfast, plenty there, cooked well and comes with great service. Good price too.

Visited Skegness for the day and fancied something to eat after our journey here, enjoyed the food, good standard plate for a Sunday dinner, staff were very friendly and polite, would of preferred to have had a larger glass of Pepsi but other than that enjoyed our food!

Popped in here with the family for some fish and chips. Staff were very friendly and attentive and quick to help. Fish ad chips were cooked great, fish nice and crispy and the chips fresh. Fish was a little bland for my liking but did not put me off eating the whole thing. Great little restaurant, certainly worth a try.

We visited yesterday morning before travelling home after our holiday. With the price we paid, £40.40p for 6 breakfasts I was expecting much MUCH more. The food wasn't hot, more like warmish. The kids breakfast that consisted of 1 sausage, 1 egg and tonnes of beans cost £3.25! We then had to purchase drinks and toast as extras. The mega breakfast was stupidly priced for the small amount given. The ingredients used were all cheap, value items and it was easily noticeable. The staff all walked around with gloomy looking faces and they all just stood there watching whilst we ate. I will never be back and I hope more read this and decide the same. Doesn't even deserve the 1 star I have to give. Avoid.

Just visited to have breakfast met by friendly staff who were very pleasant and attentive. I suffer from coeliac and managed to order scramble egg and bacon. When the plate arrived I had quarter of a plate of scramble egg and 1 piece of bacon which cost me £3.25. Found this very poor compared to what my friend paid for a full English Breakfast.

We visited here for lunch on a family day trip to Skegness. The cafe was nice and quiet, so we were able to get a table. We all had the fish and chips deal for 6.49 which was great value for money, the cod was good quality, and there were loads of chips. Well worth visiting if you are on a budget.

Popped in at opening and had a big breakfast, sausages, bacon, hash browns, beans, fried egg, fried bread, toast and mug of coffee. All standard products, nothing premium but all well cooked and presented and did the job for £8.75. There was only me in at that time, was quite pleasant, waitress was very pleasant too. We were visiting for the day and fancied fish and chips for tea. We don't know the area so we're trusting to luck a little. We walked past this place and it was offering free kids meals so we gave it a try. Big mistake.The service was pleasant and prompt enough but the food was awful. Skin left on the undercooked fish, soggy batterand stale bread.In the bathroom, the toilet seat was broken and there was no way of drying your hands.I don't need to say any more. Lesson learned - you get what you pay for.

Was told to find a seat and was quickly seen too (as we were the only people in) we had then ordered 2 medium breakfasts (which were really small portion sizes as it was £5.25) they were warm, not hot. Not the best breakfast that I have had and the portions were quite small.I couldn't tell the difference between the hash brown and the fried bread plus it was served on a very cold plate.However, the staff were great and very friendly and it was very clean Maybe I got them on a bad day.

Visited for breakfast during a weekend away. Very reasonably priced, waitress was friendly, food was brought quickly and tasted great. Me and my partner had a medium full English, the chef gave me an extra sausage as I didn't like beans or tomatoes and didn't even ask for a replacement. Only suggestion would be to invest in some proper cups not plastic ones, however still had a good cuppa.

Mega Breakfast!!! Sounds good? Well, for £8.45 this is what you get... you would expect everything but you have the option between beans or tomatoes. Mushrooms are extra and no black pudding. 1 egg and 1 sausage. Doesn't it just sound Mega. The coffee or tea is not exactly the biggest of mugs either. Can go down the road and get a mega for £6 which includes everything and you get two of everything with a massive mug of tea or coffee. Also, hardly any staff on and they are running around like headless chickens. Just to top it off you can hear shouting from down stairs at the staff with not very nice words being used.Worse place in town!!

Went here twice in one day - at breakfast for bacon cob and coffee with husbandand at teatime for meal with family food lovely. made to feel very welcome- had 9 week old baby with us - provided water as required . couldn't have been better

We went today and all ordered a large English breakfast, thought at £8.45 it would be a belly buster, no chance, the food that was there was nice but wasn't worth that much, only got one sausage each also. The staff look like there on death row and the place is in need of a major facelift, the tables are 1m square, 4 ppl sitting around it leaves very little room for you plates. Wouldn't go back, there's much more better places at much better prices.

Popped in here having waited over 45 minutes at the clock tower cafe and walking out before receiving our food, the ocean cafe had fast service, nice breakfast served with a smile and also reasonably priced. Nothing at all to grumble about and the best latte we'd had all week.

First time we'd been in this cafe. Not sure if we'd return again. There are worse restaurants in Skegness, but there are better. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient. The food on the other hand could be improved I think.As it was Sunday, we ordered two Sunday lunches. One beef and one chicken. The meat was fine, but the veg was cold and hard, the potatoes hard and tasteless. The coffee tasted like the cheap, watery stuff.Not sure if we'd return.

We visited this restaurant for tea about 5-45pm on Wednesday 24th June, we were welcomed by a cheerful waitress, shown to a seat and order taken. When our fish & chips arrived we were faced with a big potion of chips and mushy peas and a small thin fish with its skin on, a pot of tea and bread and butter which we had to ask for as she forgot to bring. The interior was very tired looking and needed a good spruce up. Would I return??? I would have to think long and hard.

I visited Skegness on Saturday 18th April 2015 with my sister and we decided to eat at the Ocean Cafe which looked appealing from the outside and also reasonably priced. However, our experience did not live up to our expectations. We were sat down and our order taken with our receipt brought to us - there was no problem with that. I paid before we received our meal or drinks. However, it took 25 minutes before we were brought our food. I myself ordered fish chips and mushy peas with two slices of bread; my sister ordering chicken chips and no gravy. When the food arrived, we had still not been brought our drinks, my sister's meal had gravy on it despite specifically not asking for it and my bread and butter was not delivered with the meal. This meant that I then had to ask for the drinks and bread - of which they checked the receipt and then delivered them - granted, they did apologise. It was to my horror however that I then subsequently found a small black hair in my food when I'd eaten half the meal - something of which is grotesque when eating any meal. In truth, we could not work out where it had come from as it is very short and all the staff were female - we were actually concerned it was a pet hair. I tried to ignore it and continued to eat my meal only to find yet another hair just as I was finishing and identical to the one I'd previously found. It was absolutely disgusting and ruined what was a lovely trip at Skegness with my sister before I returned to University. The picture enclosed shows the hair. We were very unhappy with the service given that things were forgotten and it wasn't exactly at a busy period in the day. Won't use again and highly recommend nobody to go. Vile.
