My first venture into this local sandwich bar, as recommended by colleagues - great selection of food, at very reasonable prices. I opted for baked potato with 1 filling and no butter, whilst the potato was well cooked and the filling was both tasty and ample my preference would have been for the potato to be fluffed up inside as opposed to simply sliced open. This not only allows the filling to mix better but allows it to be eaten easier especially when using disposable cutlery. This is a small criticism, easily rectified that can make a huge difference.

This is a truly terrible place for breakfast. Although the staff are friendly enough - the quality of the food and coffee is dire. A bacon roll should contain more than one rasher of bacon and a wee extra bit. A flat white should not just taste of froth and no coffee. I will never, ever go back into this place as long as I live. It is absolutely rank rotten.

Very nice fresh sandwiches made to order with good coffee. Very reasonable and very friendly helpful service. A nice change from some of the rip-off places in Edinburgh.

It was our last day visiting Edinburgh. I really fancied a freshly made sandwich before the drive home. I noticed the shop just off the main stretch and decided to go and have a look and I'm so glad I did. There are so many options to choose from including great salad add ons - olives, jalapeños, egg etc. The price was a lot cheaper than expected, so I picked up a couple more sandwiches for the drive. I prefer fresh ingredients and bread over prepackaged and expensive meal deals elsewhere. They tasted amazing! Also, the staff were really lovely. Thanks guys :)

Just came across this place, looked OK, Staff very helpful. We ordered the soup and sandwich deal which was fantastic value at £4 to takeaway and £5 to eat in. Ham and Lentil and a well filled ham, cheese and coleslaw half Baguette. Only downside was no toilet faculties. If I was in the west end I would go back.

We went in here for a sit in coffee. The staff were friendly, helpful and it seemed to me they were complying with all the covid rules. Nice coffee and tray bakes. There were screens up between tables so we felt safe. A good option for coffee and lunch in the city centre.

I visited this establishment twice recently whilst in Edinburgh, both times I found the service to be very helpful and excellent, and the food and coffee were excellent. Reasonable prices as well. COVID-19 measures were put in place but it was still a good place to go. Would go back to this place if I visited the city again..

I have never left a negative review before, but this place requires one. We just stopped in for a quick lunch as we were passing through, but will never go back; there’s so many other wonderful places to go at ocean terminal, go to any of those! The staff at O’Brien’s are rude, got our orders for two paninis wrong, and the food was an absolute rip off for what you got. Couldn’t recommend less.

Good Snacks,Good Coffee and Good Tea. We were ready for a cuppa and a bite,so as we walked we looked at all the fast food cafes, which always puts us off, when we saw this place all on its own just off the main drag. The staff were friendly, and we could see that the locals were using it both to sit in or take away.

We were passing and noticed how busy it was (always a good hint if you're not local!). We ordered the soup and sandwich deal which was fantastic value at £4 to takeaway and £5 to eat in. There were four soups to choose from and we could make a "pick and mix" sandwich so there is something for everyone. They were both lovely. We decided to go back for lunch the next day of our trip and ordered jacket potatoes. They are huge and you can choose different fillings. Very filling. Good enough value. Staff are nice too.

This is a small place so I rarely sit in but we stop in to grab lunch anytime I'm in town. They have great chicken salad sandwiches and amazing dessert bars. The soups are good too. Service is hit or miss - I think you just have to know they're busy and be prepared when you get up to the front. I was a little overwhelmed the first time I went but now I have my favorites and am always ready to order.

No me impresionó.

Ate here yesterday and ordered the breakfast muffin deal for the adults. The muffin was not cooked properly and it came with no butter so was very dry. The dough was stodgy and clumped together when pressed. Then my daughters baked potato was not fresh. This was just before midday we ate. Her potato was very small and looked over cooked. After she had eaten half of it (it was very small), she said it wasn't very nice and was a bit hard. By this time she had eaten all the filling, which wasn't much either. I tasted it and could tell immediately it wasn't a fresh potato which was probably why it was hard. Not sure if they always serve day old baked potatoes or if they just chance their arm by serving the old ones to the kids! Won't be eating there again! Waste of £15. Keep your money or eat somewhere else.

We were at a conference in Edinburgh on a room only basis so needed to find somewhere in the west end for breakfast on 4 mornings. O'Briens on Stafford Street was great for porridge toast, coffee and juice. Perfect for a quick breakfast served by lovely people who not only were fast and friendly but remembered my partner and me. We felt valued and welcome and had a decent breakfast. Good value and cosy for sitting in before a days work.

Ordered a baked potato with tuna mayo. The portion of tuna was small and was about 70% mayonnaise - hardly any tuna!! Plus the 'side salad' was a few bits of cumber, 3 tiny pieces of red onion and 3 thin slices of pepper. Very underwhelming. There is also a 60p charge for card payments under £5 which seems excessive.

We ordered a basic ham sandwich on brown bread for my child. I specifically said it was to be for a child, and the server asked if I wanted a meal deal. I said no as my child is young and doesn't eat much. We were charged nearly £4 for a tiny ham sandwich that was served with about four crisps, on a paper plate. I was shocked!

Ordered a toastie and soup. The toastie was ok although not hot and not particularly tasty. However the soup was tasteless, actually that's not entirely true...It had a synthetic plastic taste to it. Anyway even after only eating a quarter of the soup I've had horrendous acid reflux all afternoon and feel lousy. Food disgusting.

My Mum and I always eat in O'Briens when we go to Ocean Terminal. The food is always very fresh. The staff are all so friendly and go out of their way to help especially by assisting you to your seat with your tray. Nothing is a bother to any of them and they deserve to be recognised for all their hard work. We will definately always return to O'Briens.

Ordered a HOT toastie and HOT panini in O'Briens today. Both were cold when we received them. Asked staff member if we could have the panini hot, the staff member gave a look of disgust yet did re heat it. Customer service very poor, not an apology or explanation. Not the first time we have had cool toasties or paninis in this restaurant, surely the least we should expect.

We visited just before 3pm and they were happy to take our order to eat in, giving no warning that they were about to close. However not long after sitting down we were informed that they were closing up. Our hot drinks had no time to cool! We also tried to order a muffin but were told that that flavour was still frozen so we had the chocolate one instead, which was ok.

Was recommended here as I am celiac and they have a gf menu. As we were unsure what time we would be going (prior commitment before hand) I did not book. We arrived at 2.45pm and there was a sign outside saying 'bookings only, no walk ins' This was NOT on their website. We went in and spoke to a female member of staff who advised exactly what the sign had said. I then spoke to a male member of staff and asked where on their website it stated what the sign said, he said it didn't. Advised that due to rugby being on, they were unusually busy. The restaurant is large and they were not full to capacity. Asked if there was anyway we could have a table for 2 for an hour, point blank told no. We won't be returning.

Booked in the restaurant for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We weren’t staying at the hotel but did add that we were celebrating upon booking. We arrived early expecting to have a drink at the bar but the table was ready for us. We received a complimentary glass of champagne each on arrival. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t have done more. They even sorted us out with a special dessert to help celebrate the occasion. The food was to a high standard and the portion size was perfect. Altogether a fantastic meal and exemplary service.
