On delivery the driver said that getting the code was not as important as tipping the driver.

Very good food all around here in my area

food was not good crispy shredded beef not crispy very rubbery and bland I was very disappointed with the food.

I came to the restaurant a couple days ago and I thought all the workers were extremely benevolent, the food was simply exquisite, I even met the owner for a brief second and I was amazed at how polite and humble she was and even hardworking. With the bustling customers entering I could tell there was a lot of pressure but pressure creates diamonds and as such Oakwood Palace delivered. This is the first time I've ever written a review just because I felt this special restaurant should not go unnoticed. An unmatched experience and a place I plan to revisit in the near future.

Used these guys for a few years now and have NEVER been disappointed. Quality, price and delivery. All good.

best Chinese food in the area by far, I've eaten here since the 80s and it's by far the most amazing food I've tasted, the lemon 🍋 chicken is a highlight and the chicken with noodles has great flavour, service is always prompt and attentive, can't recommend enough, don't understand why people are giving it bad reviews and it's great food at a reasonable price and great service

Not been here for 20 odd years so weren't sure what to expect. 7.15pm booking on a Friday night, and was very surprised that there were only 5 tables taken up. Food was good and their popular and most talked about Spare ribs were as good as I remember them to be all those years ago. The rest of the food we had was average but tasty.

Haven't been here for many years, we were craving their infamous ribs, and we certainly were not disappointed. So meaty and tasty, and that gravy is the best. The rest of the food was good too. Service was prompt, I'd definitely go back.

Food lacked in flavour, lacked in seasoning, portion sizes are small, chips not available and who on gods earth puts carrots in a chicken fried rice. Quite poor.

Been coming here since the early nineties knew all the old owner Tommy, Yin and Simon and all the staff. Have always used it but have moved away recently. We went there last night to have a few missed dished. The food was very fresh very nice. A couple of things were a negative though. We always had the salt and chilli squid starter. I'm sorry but today it's 14.50 for a starter? It was nice but never 14.50 worth. Bo starter should be 14.50. Prawn main dish 14.50. Normal bottle of water. 3.50 300ml. How and when did Oakwood palace become so expensive. 3 people £100. 1 beer two soft drinks. Good food but way to expensive. It's not as if the place has had a major revamp. It's had a lick of paint and a little tosh up. Also the portions were on the small side. Sweet and sour pork Cantonese style was the dish I fell in love with year 30 years ago. Wasn't crispy and was half the size of the old days portion. But 12£ now. Not sure if I'd go back to pay 30£ each for run of the mill chinese. Fusion it's not

Delivery driver was super rude and disrespful to woman. Thinks hes a big bully against defenceless woman.

I use Oakwood Palace most weeks for a takeaway, in the main the food is good quality and on time (usually early) Sadly tonight the food was on time but cold.

Food was not tasty at all veg was overcooked taste like food was ready and warmed up and delivered

Mapo Tofu there was so good and hearty! Will definitely go back for that

So disappointed with food tonight. I have been using Oakwood palace for 35 years - even named my son after Tommy but tonight the food was not on par. Soggy “crispy” shredded beef and not a chilli in site! Chewy seaweed and ribs (only 3 given) were horrible. Not sure if you’ve changed hands/chefs but have never had a complaint until today 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have been coming to this restaurant since 1970 always good food and friendly staff and reasonable prices.

The beef was difficult to chew and was so stringy that it caused me to choke and if my wife wasn't here to do the Heimlich Manoeuvre to free my airways I ll probably wouldn't have survived.As the meat was inedible we had to throw it all away.

I ordered a beef dish which was not at all edible!!! I have never left reviews before, please don’t waste your money on a takeaway from here!!

Having not visited for a long time, maybe 20 years or more, I thought I'd give it a try as I was in the area... I'll never go here again. The food was bland and tasteless. I cannot recommend anyone to go here at all. I've had much better Chinese food elsewhere. I couldn't wait to finish and go. Terrible experience.

The food is horrible here I wouldn’t advise anyone to get there food from here.. disgusting no brown sugar on the seaweed no flavour I asked for salt and pepper chicken and I got southern fried with black pepper sprinkled around

This is our local Chinese restaurant, which we used to visit or get takeaways from. Unfortunately the quality of the food had deteriorated so we haven’t been for some time. But today we decided to order a takeaway to see if it had improved. Sadly it was much worse, the spring rolls had hardly any fillings in them, the satay chicken was so tough, it got stuck in my teeth, the least said about the satay sauce the better. The chicken and cashew had no taste, the Singapore noodles were again pretty brand but acceptable. Overall it felt like we were given stale food, nothing looked freshly prepared. We will not be back even though we want to support local businesses.

Been eating food from here for over 15 years. Never had to complain. Great food whether eating in or take away and very friendly staff. Nice, clean local restaurant with good atmosphere.

I had egg fried rice with crispy shredded chilli beef. Although the order was delivered on time, the rice was tasteless, hardly any egg in it and tasted like microwaved rice, it had definitely not been fried. The sauce was nice as was the batter on the beef. The beef was ok, but some quite chewy bits. Don't think I'd order again.

I give 0 stars for restaurant service only because the delivery driver was so rude for no reason. He had the door number, correct street address, all the doors have bells or a buzzer - and he could have rang restaurant for them to call me if he had problems. Food as usual was decent and lady who I spoke to did say she would have a word. But when you spend a lot of money on a delivery , you don’t expect to be shouted at aggressively by the driver - literally that’s all he did , plonked food in my hand and left…. Shame as reflects badly on the restaurant even though the food is usually very good.

Absolutely love it every time. I've been ordering from here for years and I will literally cry if you ever close down. Minor criticism, beef in black bean sauce is usually my favourite from a Chinese, but I don't get it from here often because it is very very salty? No problems with anything else on the menu though :)

First time here and was a pleasant experience. We hadn't booked but they managed to fit us in. It was Mothering Sunday so quite a few tables were reserved. The food was fine, good portion sizes. The salt and pepper tofu was delicious. Good customer service. Restaurant decor is a little tired but would go there again. Drinks are expensive though in my opinion- large sparkling water was £4.50 and lemonade £3.50.

Attended a birthday meal here and it was delicious. Not the usual Turkish menu but was good nonetheless. The lamb was so tender and I really enjoyed it. Service is excellent. They gave my friend a little cake with a candle which was nice. The cocktails are amazing and the chocolate bombe was so good. Prices are reasonable too. Not sure I would make an effort to go there again as there are many Turkish restaurants in my locality. Good to try somewhere else though. Seemed like a popular restaurant. No entertainment as we were led to believe.

The kung po chicken was horrible very bad taste and had courgettes in it, will not be ordering that dish again.

I've ordered from here before and been impressed but in this occasion the food quality was very poor. Gyoza and 2 main dishes with no flavour and the beef was inedible.

I don’t understand how this restaurant receives bad reviews, admittedly only eaten here twice and one take away in the last couple of years (As I don’t live in the area anymore) but each time the food had been delicious. There were 14 of us for our most recent family meal. All the food came out fairly quickly considering the size of our group and it was all so tasty and piping hot. I’ve eaten a lot of Chinese food and this is by far one of the best I’ve tasted…proper authentic Chinese. The salt and pepper chicken was to die for! And the apple fritters which I haven’t had for years. Each dish tasted unique and not all the same like most Chinese food now a days. The waiter that served us was really friendly and couldn’t have been more attentive. He was very busy dealing with lots of takeaways too. This restaurant has been here for about 40 years, I used to visit regularly when I lived nearby. I wish I still did as there’s no decent Chinese restaurants where I live now!

Used to be frequent visitors to Oakwood Palace 30 years ago! This is first time we've ordered from them in a long time and we were very disappointed. We only wanted a simple dinner so ordered some chow mein and spring rolls. Unfortunately the rolls were very greasy, literally dripping in grease and all the noodle dishes were also too greasy. Not very tasty I'm afraid.

DISGUSTING. Wouldn't have fed any of this to a dog, mind you, no dog would eat this anyway. Complete waste of money. Shredded beef was more like battered elastic bands. Duck was burned to a crisp. Sweet and sour chicken may have been wet battered cardboard...hard to tell. Delivery man had all the charm and manners of a statue

The outdoor lights in my flats were not working which made it difficult to see properly where my front door was, yet the delivery person still made an effort to locate the property. He was very friendly and even came early. Always impressed with the customer experience, and the food of course was delicious.

The noodles were great and so was the chill beef but the ribs in gravy, I would give them a miss !
