Ekachai - Wandsworth in Enfield

I highly recommend the Seafood Laksa and the pork dumplings. They are very tasty. However, I do find this branch of Ekachai very hit and miss, more so with the service. I don’t know if it’s because it’s in a shopping centre.

Always delicious food when I visit this restaurant! Quick service, big portions, affordable. We ordered the sharing platter - prawn rolls, spring rolls, prawn crackers, chicken skewers & BBQ ribs. The main dish was sweet and sour pork with egg fried rice. It was so delicious and tasted authentic! The service is good but staff tend to rush and hover around before you’ve even had a chance to check the menu. But I’ll still return as the food is great

Meal was very good. However they more than doubled the tip amount we agreed to without letting us know. We did not realise this until we checked our bank transaction later that night.

We’ve been eating here on the regular for over 10 years!! Authentic asian food, some dishes are street style and others are more refined, the service is very quick. I highly recommend the beef noodle soup, the base of the bone broth is very rich in flavour and all veg and meat used is fresh and seasoned perfectly.

This is located upstairs in wandsworth southside. The prices are a bit high but their beef rendang was very very very good and portions are quite filling. Staff are businesslike, not chatty but polite and respond quickly. A good place to go and I'd definitely recommend for fans of Malaysia, chinese or thai cuisine.

Ordered beef houpan but it was not as I want it to be. I want it to be less bean sprout and the cook at that time did not get what flavour we want! It’s not as aromatic as it should be!.I would say it’s not Cook like a wok you want it to be.plus We gave customer service but pls. We want that flavour cook in a genuine wok!

A busy Southeast Asian (predominantly Malaysian) restaurant run between the precious hours of 12.00pm and 9.00pm. This establishment is located on the first floor of the Wandsworth Southside Shoolpping Centre, wheelchair accessible via the lift. The menu comprises predominantly South East Asian dishes such as Char Kuey Teow, Basingstoke Goreng. The Hainanese Chicken Rice was decent but not exceptional. The rice was fragrant and fluffy, the chicken was only slightly overcooked and plenty flavourful. The portion sizes could be a bit bigger, but was otherwise reasonable for the price. The ginger paste was the backbone of the entire dish and really tied all components together. The venue is clean, spacious and atmospheric, with washroom amenities on site. Open air kitchen let's you observe the chefs at work. Decor is appropriate and modern but ceiling lights are due to be dusted. Convenient coat hooks are located on the Northern wall. Staff are friendly, quick and efficient. I will be back to try the Char Kuey Teow and Roast meats at some point.

Amazing food as usual, been coming here for years

Disappointed with the last meal at ekchai, starter was good, a shared platter. Mains not so, son ordered seafood curry Laksa, the squid was off and soured the whole bowl. The Malaysian chicken kapitan I ordered was very bland. We have eaten here a lot over the years, this was the first bad meal we have had. Son will give the restaurant another go. Myself not so sure.

This place is usually okay, we get the beef noodle soup and that's sufficient enough in taste, portion and quality. However this time we tried the Crispy Squid With Szechuan Peppercorn which was a total disappointment. From my photos you can see the menu item and description and then a photo of the dish that arrived. The dish was nothing as described...not a single Szechuan peppercorn in sight of this dish. The fried squid was plain....plain with no seasoning! With just some plain slices chilli, spring onions and sweet chilli sauce - Im sorry was the dish called and described sweet chilli squid on the menu...? NO! This is pathetic and a sorry excuse for a dish that has no resemblance to what is on the menu. We felt scammed and cheated, especially as it wasn't cheap and expected what the menu described. I really don't know how they get away with this and it's embarrassing to give Chinese and Cantonese food such a bad reputation and name....have some pride for goodness sakes. You can do better than this, thinking about going Wagamama instead now, which is saying something coming from an Asian person!

Our Local place to eat - decent foods with positive services. Debie is our known favourite staff at this Ekachai. Food always maintains its standard. However, many new dishes are good but I prefer the classic. The good thing about this place is there are always new dishes available from time to time, The service is normally attentive, but not intrusive. However, please bring back table condiments and colourful Chopsticks on the table. It makes the restaurant look more authentic.

My son loves to eat here when we go shopping. Elisabeth usually serves us and she is always so lovely that I thought I must write her a review. She is super efficient and always has a smile on her face!

First visit to Ekachai and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was a nice size and open plan kitchen which wasn't too noisy. The biggest surprise was the price of the main meals they were very reasonable and on average under £15 each. There was a good selection of beers and they had my personal favourite Tsing Tao and processco for the Mrs. I ordered the duck and crispy pork rice. The pork was very nice as was the sauce but sadly the duck was on a bone (chopped) which left little meat. Next time I would ask for deboned or shredded duck if available. Great atmosphere and relatively quick service. Staff all very nice and would revisit. Great choices on the menu.

One Hong Kong waitress suddenly came over to me aggressively when my children and my mouth were full of foo , “ where you are from ??!!! We have no tips system in this restaurant !!! Don’t forget to tip in the end !!!! “ Other waitress are normal .

Don’t go there near to closing time , no smile no good communication and they push you to order and push you to finish your food quickly so they can go home , fair enough but I didn’t enjoy food didn’t taste the same ,,, not a good experience last night ,

First time eating here. I ordered Laska curry soup 🍲 and red juice. It was a big portion, couldn’t finish it all. Way overloaded with noodles. I enjoyed the flavour but it was not spicy. Just had one 🌶️ on top. It was way too oily. I feel it’s best to share this one between two peoples or three if you are having other dishes. Juice was all right. I have some favourite south eastern food places around in London and this one did not compare to any of them so unlikely that I will visit again or recommend.

I was looking forward to trying the curry laksa at this South East Asian restaurant, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The flavor was too bland and lacked the depth of spices that I was hoping for. Additionally, the portion size was small for the price. I've had better laksa elsewhere and would suggest looking at other dishes from the menu. Overall, while I appreciate the effort, I'm not sure if I would return specifically for the laksa.

Such a hidden gem! 💎 Food is fabulous SEA cuisine, large portions, fast service, aunties are so kind. You won't find more authentic flavours in the area. Laksa is large and delicious ! Love the morning glory veg Char kway teow ...drool I love it all! Brings me back to Asia. Have been here many times! Doesn't disappoint. Wayyy better than wagamama!!! This is an easy to find restaurant in Wandsworth Southside, next to the cinema. The food is Asian, mainly Thai and HK, and the plate sizes are good, and the food seems authentic and tasty. It is not inexpensive, and the service is fine (not friendly, however not rude). It is an okay place for a quick meal.

Ordered Beef brisket noodle, stir fry beef houfu, chicken with ginger and spring onion, roast pork and finished off with stir fry Chinese green. Service was quick and food ws delicious. An old.lady served me which reminds me of my grandma.

I love dining here as the food is always consistent. Generous portions at a reasonable price with enough staff on hand to help which is nice.

Great food and enjoyable atmosphere

I'm afraid the restaurant has a problem. It can not decide if wants to be a Chinese or English restaurant. So meeting somewhere in the middle gives you rather tasteless experience of what might have but never really was. Presentation is great, service can be a little rude too. For example; staff don't need reminded us that service is not included when paying the bill. We can read!

The food is absolutely awful. The service is like you’re in a fast food restaurant. They pressure you to decide even when you’ve asked for 10 mins and i can’t stress enough how poor the food is. Flavourless, poorly cooked and awful. Will never visit again.

Amazing food and quickest food serving. No matter how busy they get, good is usually on the table 5-10 mins after ordering. Their chicken is Halal. I've been going here for years and their food quality has stayed the same. Highly recommended!

Awful experience - I ordered the curry Laksa. Had the worst food poisoning ever, was literally on the toilet all night long with continuous bad stomach. Avoid this place like the plague!!!

Plain, basic flavouring, overcooked meat. Ordered egg fried rice, duck and sweet and sour pork and I was surprised how bad it was despite the great reviews. Rice was passable, although nothing spectacular for the price. The meat was cooked in advance and reheated (or refried in the case of the pork). The flavours were truly basic and uninspiring, an insult overall to asian cuisine. It was a complete rip off for 30 pounds. I would rather eat dirt from the floor.

Great restaurant for a quick meal before watching a movie (next door to Cineworld). Friendly, fast and helpful team. Prices are reasonable.

I was in the area and decided to visit this place. It has always been on my radar and this is the closest of three branches. Previous reviews naturally set my expectations high. Ekachai is an enchanting experience - right from the friendly service to the nasal nourishing food. The portions are very impressive which is great! Definitely recommend the food in pics. The pad thai seems a hot favourite. The star of the meal was the Thai coffee lon. A nostalgic taste if you had home made coffee. Do visit with an appetite to not waste food :) In terms of atmosphere the place could do a revamp. The food is very reasonably priced and makes you feel gallivanting south east Asia in all its glory.

The food was not enjoyable and over priced we paid £180 for meals that we couldn’t eat and feeling unwell since returning home. Will not be eating there again bad experience.

Food here tasted quite authentic and quite good. I ordered the beef rendang and the pork dumplings, both were good.... The atmosphere felt pleasant, and there were cost hangers if you needed them. I didn't feel like I was pressured to finish my food and go like you might in Chinatown (Though my experience there is outdated atm). Sadly, they didn't tell me some of the food were unavailable until I ordered, so I had to take more time to figure out what I wanted but was still good. 😅 Came here as a 2nd choice option, I didn't know this was a chain until my friend told me!

Wasn't sure of this place to begin as my family wanted to go to Nandos. I looked in the window and the smell from inside encourage me to convince my party of 10 to give it a try. Service good, food very good and I also had a takeaway. Price was also good . Give it a try .

Not the biggest variiety but ok for the price you pay. .

This restaurant stood the change of times. After all this years this is still the best place to eat in the south side shopping centre. As many can tell most other restaurant has closed down or changed but ekachai is still here and that deserves some respect. Ok now back to the food I found the food still be very good and they don’t charge service charge which is a bonus. Portions are generous and the food comes very quick. So hopefully they will stay as long as the shopping centre is still operating. Oh and I forgot to mentioned it’s milese better and cheaper than wagamama which became just another soulless chain restaurant.

The food was amazing and tasted authentic and fresh, the place was pretty and cozy. In addition you can see the food being made fresh! The staff was lovely and very polite. Would 100% recommend!!

Surprisingly nice restaurant. I ordered roasted duck and pork with rice, and i felt like I was in Hong Kong. The price was reasonable and the portion was quite generous. However, the restaurant's interior is not very welcoming. Otherwise, I would have made my first visit to this restaurant long long time ago

It has been a while since I’ve forced myself to finish my food because it was absolutely delicious! Not even 5 minutes into ordering our food arrived piping hot and the flavours were amazing. I was genuinely enjoying my food and could not fault it. To top it off I also got a Thai iced coffee to go and that was the smoothest coffee I’ve ever had. Could not have been happier, I will definitely be returning!

A truly underrated restaurant! My friend and I received brilliant service from the staff who made sure we settled in right and gave us the best service throughout the dinner. The food portions were perfect and the food itself was by far better than any other South East Asian restaurant I’ve eaten from- they have stunning food! It is also very reasonably priced, I was surprised by how low the bill was. 10/10 I would recommend this place to everyone, regardless of whether they like this cuisine and I also look forward to dining here again!

Same company that delivers Three Uncles in South West London. Really great portions for the price ~£10 per dish. Crispy belly pork was crispy on the skin and tender on the inside whilst the char siu roasted pork was sweet and succulent. Been to lots of places for roasted meat in London and this one is a good one! Service also very friendly and fast

Please do not deliveroo from this restaurant. The delivery people always steal the food. I had lost two orders on the same day dinner. Each order costs 97 pound. Total lost 194 pound.

Long established restaurant that consistently delivers authentic flavours of South East Asia. Stands out amongst the glut of chain food outlets in the area, a jewel in the rough.

Have eaten here many times. One of my favourite places to eat before a cinema visit. Fast and efficient service by attentive staff. Today I had the beef rendang which was delicious along with prawn crackers and coconut rice. Highly recommended!!

A great Wagamama alternative with much better prices. I have been a Wandsworth’s Ekachai client since the beginning many years ago. Love the food. My favourite is TOM YUM Soup (as you can see at the pictures) and it has fewer than 100 calories per cup!. The place is clean and welcoming. Unfortunately, the staff looks soulless acting like a robot and many times not really listening. I suppose that the training methods are milles away of big good chains in uk but it doesn’t stop keep going. Specially because I am always having the same so I just make sure everything is understood. Also the staff seems to have an obsession for clearing plates of the table even if you are having a little break and still not finished. Even though I still recommend this place. A dinner for 2 people was £36. When I go to wagamama a dinner for 2 never goes lower than £70.

Terrible food and customer service from our waitress, lunch service ended at 3pm even though they were reopening at 5, table was sticky and dirty.

They have a good variety of good south Asian food. We had char siew rice and Malaysian curry witch were both excellent. They didn't have Vietnamese dishes.

Food arrived after one hour, no excuses from staff and place is very cold inside. Would never go back .

Outstanding food; this isn’t a regular, mediocre mall restaurant. The must try is the beef brisket noodle soup. The broth alone is outstanding.

Food lovely. Great vegetarian selection but would rather tofu than tempeh. It's a real aquired taste! The only mark down was it was so cold in there we ate in gloves and hats!! 🥶 We left quickly to warm up in the shopping centre.

The food came out fairly quickly and tasted decent. However, I was a tad disappointed with the portion of my wok stir fry. As a stand-alone dish, I would have expected it to be greater in size. Nonetheless, it tasted great and it was an enjoyable experience overall. Worth a visit if you are around!

Visited with my daughter while waiting for her eye test appointment. Needed a quick lunch and my daughter was desperate to go.Both had a Beef noodle dish,simple tasty and good portions.Value for money and will be back again.

A decent South Asian cuisine based in Wandsworth. If you're watching a film or shopping by in Southside, drop by here for a quick fast meal. The food came out fast and prompt, it also tasted fresh and flavoursome. It is a little pricey however you will find that most places in Wandsworth are.

So disappointed, I normally order from them and today after hour await, it was tasteless. Sorry but if changed your chef that could be damaging to your business as I won't be ordering again for while.

It was a cute little place, very authentic with quite good food. The staff were very abrupt and semi rude, I didn't feel comfortable and I felt rushed most of the time... They do not have basic hospitality manners and I did not feel welcomed in this place most times. The chairs are of very poor quality and they caught my very expensive tights (nearly making a ladder in them), so I was not a happy bunny. It is an OK place, but I wouldn't recommend it, there are much better, more welcoming and kinder places out there with much nicer staff.
