Visited Oakwood Garden centre for the first time ,just for a quick bite and a look around, we were not disappointed we were greeted by a lovely friendly lady who who showed us to our seat and took our order. We had a cheese and onion and a ham and cheese toasties which had a salad and coleslaw dressing both were delicious ,these were served by a nice friendly lad on his first day washed down by a tea and coffee The rest of the menu is fairly priced and of good value and quality. Had a look round the shop which is lovely and quirky with loads of goods ,ended up buying a book for the grandchild. Very good atmosphere good food and friendly staff in restaurant and shop would recommend if you are out for a country drive.

Staying at Campsie Glen Caravan Site for a few days and popped in with my wife for a look around, garden centre shop lovely with a lot quirky items and some gifts are handmade. Purchased a few items and had some lunch in the restaurant. Staff member who took our orders very knowledgeable on the area and suggested a few places to visit and recommend walking round the dam. In the restaurant there is open fire lovely to watch. Food and service both 5 star well done to all your team.

Keen to support local businesses I visited to purchase some garden supplies. My debit card wouldn’t work at the till, and the member of staff in question quickly became verbally abusive , emotionally disregulated, and she spoke to me in a manner which left me feeling shocked and upset. Shouting and pointing, ‘no no no’ ‘you keep doing that’ when in actual fact the card reader didn’t have a signal and in the end she had to move to the door to get a signal. I politely said to the woman ‘do not speak to me disrespectfully like that.’ I have never been spoken to in such a manner by a member of staff in any establishment. This is deeply concerning, although I understand this woman’s reputation goes before her, and this type of behaviour is not uncommon. Interestingly it is also mentioned in other comments. I would report to the manager but they don’t seem to have a website. I will not be returning and will take my business elsewhere. Shocking!

Shame there is no website where I can make this comment - but in its absence I’ll have to utilise this forum. This has nothing to do with the garden centre as a venue but I am literally filled with dread if my post is redirected to Oakwood and I have to come into contact with the staff member on the front desk. I’ve tried to be empathetic about the life circumstances that could move an individual to treat members of the public with such distain-but why bother when she doesn’t afford us the same courtesy. People shouldn’t have to be spoken to with ill concealed scorn. We’re customers for god’s sake. And human beings.

Ordered an open sandwich which the menu said came with cole slaw. Realised when I started eating it that there was no cole slaw. When I asked for it I was told there wasn't any. When I went to pay the bill I reminded the lady at the cash register not to charge for the cole slaw. Her attitude changed from smiling benevolence to barely concealed hostility at the very suggestion. I wasn't so much concerned about the lack of cole slaw, however, as the lack of any appreciation that I might be entitled to a reduction for an item included in the price but not delivered. As her hackles rose further, she condescendingly deigned, with extreme ill grace, to deduct 50p(!) from the bill. I was going to mention that the sandwich didn't have any butter on it either, but decided instead on tactical withdrawal whilst still in one piece. I think we need a bit of customer relations training here, at least for some of the staff.

My husband ,my mum and I visited today for lunch. When we arrived we were told to sit and wait until our table was ready and it was slightly abrupt. The same person told us our table was ready and I think previously the abruptness was really just because the restaurant was busy and being businesslike. We had the small fish and chips, bread and a lovely salad and purple coleslaw.Absolutely delicious. We also had coffee and mum had cake and tea. Beautiful view and food and our young waitress was very helpful.Good wholesome homemade food. We had a look at the shop and bought plants in the garden centre.A lovely day out.

Failed to send 4 parcels today due to member of staff's shocking incompetence and attitude/ rudeness. Have encountered her previously (and had the same problem then) but decided to try again today. Ended up taking the parcels away and sending them from Strathblane Post Office! Most ignorant woman which spoiled our lunch in the restaurant as she was all we could talk about during lunch! All 3 of us disgusted - we really like the garden centre, and restaurant in particular. Staff in the restaurant couldn't be nicer and provide excellent service. They could do with training customer service to the lady in the Post Office! Major dis-service to locals relying on the Post Office and to your family business. We did not go ahead with our garden centre / shop purchases as a result.

I phoned Oakwood to request a table with the more comfortable seats and easy access on crutches, not possible to book! We went along and a couple offered to exchange tables. Once over that hurdle, the food we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. Each course came very quickly and we felt a bit rushed. Our empty coffee cups and pastry plates were whipped away as soon as we laid down our pastry forks and we were reminded just to go to the desk and give our table number. At the desk we waited 12 minutes for someone to give our check! The redeeming factor was the food.

Oakwood is very pleasant for lunch. This day we were there with a toddler. Two of us had open sandwiches with salmon. Excellent quality bread and lots of smoked salmon. I had coronation chicken sandwiches. May sound rather boring but the bread was very fresh and the filling very generous. The toddlers lunch was more of a problem. The childrens menu offered soup or fruit to start. Fruit was chosen but it came with uncut grapes. Just a little point, but tiny children can choke of grapes. Gran had to send them back to be cut up. Ham sandwiches came with the meal which were ok. Small carton of apple juice to drink. The problem was the cost of £7-95. Rather a lot for a sandwich, fruit and drink. First time I have been to Oakwood with a child so was rather taken aback. have been at Oakwood many times and it won't put me off going but just not with young children.

We have eaten here a few time oven the years. Despite service that can be best described as slow and functional, with little leadership or direction in evidence, we have always given it another chance. However, after this week's experience, we will not be back. In summary: we arrived at 2.25 and joined the queue to be seated (several tables were obviously vacant, but staff taking their own time to engage with those queuing). At 2.35 a waitress indicated that we could have a table, but amazingly informed us that the kitchen would be closing in 25 minutes and that by the time she would be taking our order, it would be too late for food from the kitchen. When we enquired whether this would include soup, we were told in no uncertain terms that only cakes would be available. If you are looking for a positive experience of the Scottish hospitality industry in a place that values customers, look elsewhere.

Visit regular but feel that attention to detail is perhaps not as good as it used to be.Have ordered the lentil Soup as a starter for as long as I can remember but it was completely different from previous times. I did not like this new recipe and was told it changes depending who is cooking it. Customers want to know that when they order something, they know what they will be getting especially if they are regulars and expect something particular. Also had to wait for coffee to go with the cake ordered even though it was ordered along with the cake. Cake was not eaten for several minutes but was eventually eaten before the arrival of the coffee. A bit disappointing on this particular visit.

Travelled from Falkirk with my 2 year old grandson to visit my elderly father and his elderly friend ...they enthusiastically suggested going for a snack at Oakwood which they have frequented often ....so it was a surprise to be told that there would be a very long wait for a table as they were very busy with prebookings ..... There were lots of empty tables when we arrived .and they took my name and added it to a list of at least seven names ..we waited for around 25 minutes and decided to leave because my grandson was getting hungry and we were getting fed up !The only point That I am making is the fact that it seems a very strange idea to allow bookings in such an establishment ....it classes itself as a garden centre ? Not a restaurant ?Seems a bit odd and not really thought through !

Popped in here just expecting to find a cafe to get a coffee and perhaps a snack and boy were we shocked! Table bookings are the norm and we had arrived without. Not a problem however. Staff were courteous and found us a table quickly followed by a speedy service with drinks and lunch (we had been very tempted by what we had seen others eating) arriving within minutes. The salad and ploughmans platter were fantastic and worth having. All the lovely cakes on display had to stay there as we were too full to contemplate partaking. Lovely afternoon.

I went to the Oakwood for lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. I had the chicken and rice soup with an egg mayonnaise sandwich. It was delicious. My friend had the ploughman's splatter. She said it is the best one she has ever tasted. We then shared a carrot cake square and an orange and lemon sponge. Unfortunately the latter was stale. We called our waitress over and told her. She immediately apologised and offered us anything else from the baking counter. We had a lovely afternoon. The staff are delightful and efficient.

I live near here, and visit regularly. I am never let down when I have lunch. There are always plenty of choices of freshly prepared, healthy and nutritious food. I also buy bedding plants and herbs here, and very much value the excellent gardening advice they give.

Visited here with with my husband, five year old and 7 month old twins.Despite the restaurant being very busy we were seated immediately and the girl who seated us moved things around to make space for the double buggy. We were served quickly and the food arrived in good time. My son had a cheese and ham toastie and myself and my husband had the meat feast toastie. We all throughly enjoyed them. They came with a lovely side salad and coleslaw. My husband and son had strawberry milkshakes and I had a hot chocolate which were amazing! After, we had their home baking which is delicious! My son had an empire biscuit, I had chocolate cake and my husband had coffee and walnut cake. The sponge was light and fluffy, the icing was to die for and the portions were huge! We also had tea and coffee to finish. The bill was really reasonable considering the amount of food we had eaten, we were really impressed. All the staff were so helpful and friendly and the other patrons were very nice too, a couple of them stopped to chat on their way out. They commented on how nice it was that people of all ages liked to come there and I totally agree! There is a large window which over looks the fields and hills, it really is beautiful. The shop is also lovely, with lots of handmade and bespoke items. The garden centre part is very big and lovely on a nice day to wander round. The site it's self is in the middle of the hills and fields and there is beauty all around it. No matter where you're coming from you're in for a nice drive there and a nice drive home!We will definitely be back very soon!!

Have been having lunch here since it opened, however standards are slipping. Ordered the usual soup and sandwich but would say that fillings are not as full as they used to be, the chicken broth was also very salty thankfully I tried before I added some. Had to remind twice about coffee. On this occasion we decided to have a second cup , our bill was almost £3 more than usual, had we been overcharged? If not the prices have certainly taken a very steep hike, over £11 each will think twice before returning in the near future.

Been coming here now for a few years and it's not quite As good as it once was. Had soup and sandwich. The soup was quite salty and the cheese sandwich very basic and not particularly tasty. Also had a cake which was ok but tasted like it had been bought in rather than freshly made. Service fine. There's nothing particularly wrong with Oakwood but there are other places close by that are now far better (3 Sisters, Killearn and The Courtyard, Fintry).

Spent part of a lunchtime and afternoon at this garden centre / nursery which like a lot of similar places has a shop and very substantial eatery within a modern building. The fact that on certain days the place is packed with folk and we were asked if we had booked a table , in a garden centre ? That apart there are a lot of snacky type items onoffer for a lunchtime break that should fill and not cost the earth along with nice filtered coffee if you just want a pick me up . Worth a visit though ...

I have been several times now and always book as the restaurant is so busy! The last time we went they got the order mixed up ...sorted it of course. Time before that they never toasted the sandwich . Both timesI had to wait of course to have these things sorted and my tea was cold and had finished my soup as I get the toastie and soup deal! Apparently the chef on duty didn't know the difference between Brie and Stilton! .???.....apart from this it's almost always a lovely visit. I would definitely agree with the comment about the difference between the service from the staff in the restaurant in comparison to the staff in the gift shop......completely non existent service in the gift shop! Don't they realise that we notice? Don't they want to treat customers the way THEY would like to be treated? Come on guys! This is your job! I would love to work somewhere like this!! And so would others! Keep this in mind. Also agree with the comment re the tall man as we have had the "pleasure" before! Get some customer service training!!!

Been a few times before; brought a friend here last week, weekday and not busy, waited ages to be seated, nobody even acknowledged us. Got seated but tall man(was going to say gentleman but he is not) looked like he may be in charge...seated at dirty table, when we eventually ordered my friend had to ask for the table to be wiped...only ordered scones which took ages and arrived before our coffees! We had to ask for jam for our scones! Pitty as its a good cafe in a stunning location. Tall man could learn some manners and to smile.

Dropped in here after spa day at Buchanan Arms hotel, had a wonder round the garden center good choice of plants and garden ornaments. Bought some new Christmas ornaments from the gift shop and was offered free bubble wrap bags to place them in staff very friendly, you could tell by the amount of cars in the car park that the tearoom was busy. Enjoyed lovely cake and coffee, would go back in for lunch if passing

Friendly, helpful and cheerful staff. Very nice atmosphere and beautiful view from the restaurant.Staff need training in how to clean tables properly (a particular bugbear with us). One cloth quickly wiped (no spray) over chair seats then table) before moving onto another is not *cleaning*.Haven't had a bad experience yet with the food. It has all been lovely. Hot food is served hot which is great. Food is tasty and visually appealing when served. Staff are more than happy to accommodate dietary requests. We love this place and will continue to visit on a regular basis.

This garden centre has a great choice of plants - but it also has a terrific cafe. The view from the outside terrace towards Dumgoyne is terrific - the picturesque "ruin" in the distance is actually part of the Victorian water pipeline running from Loch Katrine to Glasgow. Staff in the cafe are pleasant and helpful. I was directed to the gluten-free choice which is probably the best brownie I have ever tasted. It was moist, delicious and very moreish.

I visited The Lauder in Sauchihsll Street in October 2919 when it reopened after the fire that destroyed the buildings next to it we were served beautifully cooked and very tasty food. I have visited Glasgow twice since then last week ( end of February 20w9) being the most recent and it is now my choice of place to eat. The staff are great easpecially one young lady called Lynn who has been the ultimate in custoner service. Even remembering me from previous visits and ensuring that I get a table and great service. I will be back as not only is the foid well cooked and presebted it is great value for money .

I am attending at course at the Clyde College and this wee cafe happens to be nearby - it's very convenient for lunch when I have classes the whole day. I had lunch in a couple of occasions so far, I tried their soup and jacket potato. The prices are affordable, the food is good and the staff are super friendly.

First time visit to Flava's, Place was so busy and staff where overwhelmed with just eat orders and walk ins. However staff got round to everyone and allowed people to sit even tho they closed in 25 minutes time. We ordered the Hershey's & Reece's cookie dough and an Oreo crepe. Both where amazing and presented really well. Wait for dessert was quite lengthy however I understand it's busy however if it was me I would definitely prioritise sit in customers, Would return and also provides student discount!!
