Oaks Brewers Fayre in Norwich

Spontaneous trip out for a family breakfast. Although incredibly busy, the waitress seated the four of us quickly and efficiently, even though we had not made a reservation. The buffet was hot and well stocked, and the selection of foods was very impressive. We managed to sample our way through fresh fruits, pastries a full cooked breakfast and there was even pancakes for the sweet tooth of the family. As well as the variety of food there was a host of drink options, both hot and cold. The four ladies working, were super busy, but friendly, approachable and couldn’t do any more for us. We were very impressed, and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

A party of widows arrived for lunch booking weds 24th Sept,a couple ordered pie all it came with was 1 stem of broccoli of which half was to hard to eat,a dozen peas at best and a small amount of cabbage when asked if there were any potatoes was told they are extra,who doesn't serve pie and mash as a staple menu??1 lady waited ages for her dessert and staff had to be reminded but it still didn't arrive until after everyone else had finished theirs,so ate hers alone very poor to say the least.Staff heavy handed practically throwing down the plates.

Just tried this venue after the other closed. Plenty of space and really friendly service. Maggie was really friendly and efficient despite having a very busy restaurant. We enjoyed her smily, helpful approach, with nothing too much trouble. Food was very good with much larger portions than expected. This venue is a little out of the way, but Premier Inn are just next door.

Brewers fayre had always been our family's go to when it comes to all you can eat breakfasts. Unfortunately broadband gate only takes hotel guests in for breakfast now witch is a shame but understandable. So we've been going to the oaks. Now.this is our third time and every time things just not as good . The first time we went the hashbrowns were very burnt and dry and there was so many of them as people weren't eating them that they didn't make any fresh so that's disappointing. 2nd time was okay. There is alot of waiting around as they seems not to have enough staff on and takes ages to get the juice machine and food restocked . But that's the price you pay for this kind of service I suppose Now the 3rd time . This had to be out worst yet . The coffee machine wasn't working witch is very annoying but it can't be helped . The toaster machine is just a kitchen toaster nothing special and very slow There was no juice for 1 hour !!! And you couldn't get a Fizzy drink because the 2 staff were running around as they so short staffed. The bacon looked silver and I actually couldn't eat it . It really was awful . Now I totally understand its busy . But today wasn't that busy and of course they will be more busier as the next closest brewers fayre had stopped breakfasts so under staffing Is just to cut costs and deliver bad service. Very poor management from the top ! This place is good value but recently you can just tell there alot of cost cutting and poor service. We are regulars and we have noticed that the food quality is lower and the juice brand have changed and not for the better. We've booked a Toby carvery for next week . Witch works out slightly more expensive but hopefully the experience is better . Hopefully this feedback is used to actually improve the business and as its our local maybe next month we will give it another visit to see if things got better .

Interior is a bit dark, but overall it was a standard pub.

Family and friends meal on an early Saturday evening. Table we were shown to was soaking wet with previous diners spilt drinks. Obviously not cleaned. Food took quite a while to arrive. When it did, one of the meals was incorrect and was returned (without quibble) and the rest of the meals were Luke warm at best. Portion sizes were very small. I'll not be returning. It's a rather desperate state of affairs when you are dining in a pub restaurant, looking at your "food" and quietly thinking to yourself, the McDonald's next door would have been a better option.

Sad that the other brewers in Norwich has closed down which had a play centre and decent food/setting/staff Went to this one to try it.. my word it was not good. The food was not well prepared, the place was not well maintained or looked after and staff were just meh. We won’t be going back

Waited 50 minutes for food, asked several times for an update and just got sarcasm back. Only eat here if you have the meal deal from the hotel next door.

A very warm welcome from Maggie the server. Who placed our order, and as always has a lovely broad smile , our food was cooked as requested to our satisfaction.

Love Brewers Fayre, sometimes a bit of a hit of miss, but good value for money. Food was great even when we asked starters to come out with the rest of the food, so we had to wait 10 mins. Burger was excellent and could have been more jucy, but the meat was good. Chips were 10/10 Kids meal good price, pizza was excellent.

Only pub in area it seems so can get really busy.Staff mean well but struggle sometimes so tables dont get cleared etc. Run out of popular beverage whilst we were there. 2024 Update, went for lunch on a Sat lunchtime and was it was actually quiet and this good served quick by friendly staff.

What you'd expect from a brewers fayre- honest food, nice big location and it doesn't break the bank.

Staff did not inform us of such a long wait and with 2 young kids that was not ideal.. the food was very below par items missing of the plate and food very over cooked.. would not recommend and will not be going back… word of advice do go here when busy because they just can not cope

Visited the Oaks for the first time in a while today with family and friends, and wasn't disappointed. Even though it was obviously busy as a Sunday afternoon, the service was first rate, as was the food, like on all previous visits prior. Someone was always on hand, if you needed something or just a general enquiry. Thanks again all for another pleasant visit.

Waited over an hour for 3 steak meals One of the steaks was over cooked and the other were not cooked properly as requested when asked for two of the steaks to medium to well and the other medium to rare. Was told that it takes quite a while to cook steaks, rubbish as stakes at one of the quickest meats to cook on a griddle.

The worst place I have been, waited 40 minutes to get a drink. The supervisor type thing told us to join a queue and wait whilst the 2 poor bar staff tried to do drink and food orders. The bar staff hopped to the queue jumpers the other side of the bar which infuriated the orderly queue. The beer garden was a dump, full of litter, brambles and stinging nettles half the tables where broken the other half full of glasses and food remains. Dripping gutter on the entrance this is a real dive. I wouldn’t ever go near the cesspit again.

Came in for a meal with family and was greeted and asked about any allergies on arrival, food came out and it was delicious. There is plenty of parking and staff were friendly and helpful.

Not the usual cheery greeting or demeanor of the staff that we are normally used to. Not too many customers (6.30 on a Sunday), but everyone was still huddled fairly close together, where there was an to give people some space to give a better dining experience.

Depending on your expectations and experience, it's an ok experience. You will have food, albeit limited options, but the people are helpful and mostly friendly. Willing to help and provide a service. Overall not bad.

We had a server called Maggie that was lovely she made us feel very welcome, she made sure she chatted to my 6 year old even if he was hyped up from the cocoa pops and Nutella. Good price considering there were 3 of us.

It’s wasn’t busy, there was only 2 of us, and the deserts took 40 minutes to come out. Longer than our mains which only took 20 minutes.

This is the worst brewers fayre I've ever been to for breakfast, the food was burnt so badly we could not eat it it was left out to get cold , so burnt food , cold food avoid at all costs

Food was tasty. I had a burger followed by sticky toffee pudding. The pint of Madri tasted nice you can tell the barrells and pipes are clean. Service from all the staff was exceptional. All friendly and help with a smile on their face. I found Maggie particularly helpful as she sorted a mistake I made with my desert without me even asking. Al in all a good experience

Lovely meal .had the 2 meals for £11.99 well worth it .. Maggie who served us was very helpful and polite.

Great little local place for our family. Maggie as a waitress has been there for a while now and everytime we are served by her we really get the special treatment. We love the Oaks as it is our favourite local.

We had a lovely experience overall 😊, it was very enjoyable and our server Maggie was extremely pleasant.

Being told when being shown to our table that we basically had an hour to eat as they had overbooked was completely unacceptable. Then the sausages were poor quality, the fried eggs had lots of shell in them and the hash browns were burnt. Plus the toasters were not toasting the bread. Terrible experience

I will not be going here again! I ordered fish and chips with peas 😒 the fish was sooo oily and the chips was dry and ok the peas wasn’t cooked properly! The food took so long :( I wouldn’t recommend 😒🤔😒😒😒😒😒

The food was lovely the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Only thing that lets it down was the place was so dirty it could do with a good clean.

Met with friends today. Table of 8 ( table 12 ) 5.15pm. The food was much to be desired. Two friends had lasagne which was ok but the Fish was awful and I requested a jacket potato which was inedible and the mushy peas were literally one mouthful. The waitresses were run ragged bless them and we had to ask for food after a very long wait. Noone came to check our food was ok at anytime during the meal. I complained at end of meal and was told it would be reported to managers. We heard nothing back and were not offered any refund or explanation so we left. I will not be returning and definitely would not recommend to anyone. Worse food I have been served out for years. AVOID !!!

Really disappointed tbh. We booked a table for 4pm and there was no carvery left! Even tho it's ment to be on till 6pm clearly they don't cater enough to actually serve till 6pm. So we ordered from the normal menu ... We waited 45 mins with no contact from staff and I chased up the kids starters (plain Nachos and veggie sticks(cucumber only according to menu) was told they would chase them for us. But nothing came. Them came out mains... Kids plates were boiling hot yet and adults steak was actually very cool, (allergy plate) another allergy plate was so dry it had clearly sat waiting for the test of the table. Missing meat from the mixed grill. And all meat on the mixed grill was pre done as it was super dry also everything on the travel that was fried was very over cooled. The steak were all way over the requested cooking. (One was requested blue rare as possible but hat came medium) so very hit and miss on the food. I had to ask for the kids deserts to be bought out after multiple staff passing and not offering to clear out table. Also there was still no mention of the kids starters. A little confused and offended by the waitress saying 'she brought teaspoons for my toddlers to eat Apples with as she doesn't have fork' and when I said they will eat it with their hands that's okay thank you her response was 'well I didn't want them to eat like animals!! ' Like are you calling my kids animals! They are toddlers! The actual venues I'm sorry but needs a big deep clean. It was filthy, the toilet's, the carpets, the floors were so sticky. Sorry to say but I won't be returning

The food was very hit and miss - tasty curry, very good breakfast (but the coffee machine was broken and no sign of replacement/repair). A steak not fit to sole your shoe, the next steak was overcooked, only just edible - maybe I should've stuck to the curry. On a positive note, the staff were very helpful and amenable... £4.65 for two bits of garlic bread is excessive...

Food was cold dry and very very small had a burger and was very dry chips were luke warm and the coleslaw was warm too was waiting a very long time for food would not recomend to anyone.

Asked for my steak to be well done, when it arrived it was undercooked. Took well over 10 mins to recook, problem was everyone else had been given their meal and were finished eating by the time mine was ready. When you go out for a family birthday meal this isn’t what you expect, ruined the evening and staff didn’t seem to care. We would have stayed for desserts and more drinks but it put us off so we went elsewhere to finish our evening. We’ll not be going back, we used to use this restaurant quite regularly as it’s accessible for a family member with disabilities, there are other places who know what good customer service is and how to deliver it. So you’ve lost a regular customer, well done!!

Just been to the oaks and very disappointed, it’s gone downhill I’m afraid from where it was. Went and tried getting a table and had to find someone and asked if ok to sit outside. Several Tables were rotten and unsafe. Queued up for service, 2 ppl serving a long queue. Eventually got served simple stuff. Waited 40 mins and eventually went after them, could see our food on the kitchen waiting area so bar member got it for us. Food wasn’t great, chips were very dry and over cooked, grandsons had veggie sticks which clearly were old and soggy so they dropped. Garden area was very tired, over grown, broken gutters on building which to me shows a lack of care and I wonder if kitchen is the same,I won’t use again

Despite the restaurant being only half full there was over a hours wait for food, the female at the door was pretty abrupt towards customers and pretty much telling them to go elsewhere. The restaurant use to be great but recently has gone down hill and frequently has things out of stock( including orange juice and pineapple juice)

Very disappointing visit. One of the most dirty, disgusting places to eat I have ever been to. A real pity because the breakfast was fine, just incredible dirty tables, windows, floor etc. It seems strange to operate a food business like this.

Lovely friendly staff, very busy but they were always keen to help. The atmosphere was lively but not overwhelming and the food was well served and nice and hot. Great team, would definitely recommend the Oak and look forward to coming back.

The service tonight was great. We were told on arrival that there was a delay with food of an hour due to problems with staff. All the staff remained pleasant and polite during the evening even when customers were unpleasant with them. A credit to the place.

I have just moved in opposite, and have visited three times but after tonight never again. I have had bad food and bad service. However tonight I visited quite late (just before 9pm). I was told last food order was 9pm and had to order immediately. Happy to do this but was then told kitchen had been shut for fifteen minutes!!! Walked out - I have worked hospitality and if this is how they work it’s amazing they make a profit. Too many other choices around so don’t need to go back.

Staff were a bit slow,had to take the the order then payment before they poured a drink??? Long wait for food bit only opened day before so hopefully can only improve

Had a 80th birthday meal for my mother-in-law with the family, meal was lovely and service was amazing from Maggie a lovely lady.

The meal was tasty, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Good customer service, reps were very helpful, and they were welcoming.

Booked Sunday afternoon for a Carvery, no contact from restaurant and when we arrived Carvery had run out! No apology at all from staff, we walked out... Avoid.

Stopped by for lunch as a family, very friendly staff who were quick to help - especially Maggie who was incredibly kind and attentive, and even noticed we’d been sat for a while after ordering so offered to chase up our food. Good value for money, comfortable environment. Could do with a little update in the bathroom (taps have to be held down to work, toilet not flushing properly), but this obviously doesn’t affect the food. I wouldn’t take a first date here, but as a family meal place it’s brilliant!

Went for Sunday lunch. There appeared to be only 3 persons on front of house. It was carb overload, overcooked roast potatoes potatoes and parsnips, they were a very dark brown, mashed potato, potato gratin, mashed carrots and swede, Mac and cheese, cauliflower cheese, peas and carrots kept warm in water, gravy was watery. Meat was ok, stuffing balls overcooked, youkshires quite nice. Gave 1 star for plate being very warm. Sadly won't be going back.

Mothers day meal out for a family of 7. Huge line to start with and what looked like minimal staff. Food seemed to take a while but we had hungry children. Melissa was brilliant. Spoke and messed around with the children, nothing seemed too much trouble but generally really personable and friendly. My children responded well to her and we had a good laugh aswell, thank you very much for dealing with us and making the evening fun!

Went for breakfast with the kids. OJ was just squash, couldn't have a cup of tea as there was no hot water. People queuing waiting for food which was very slow coming out. No pastries or cakes only bread left. It's hard to complain when you are only paying 9.99 for 3 of you but had I been just one full price adult I would of paid. To many people in the restaurant for what they could handle. Hot food was ok when we got some but on the whole this is easily the worst premier inn breakfast I have ever had!!
