Oakley Fish Bar in Corby

As a long time customer I am sad to say that this will be the last time. Over the course of the last year the prices have increased exponentially and the Small cod is now so small, its almost not worth it. Add to this the price of a carrier bag is now 20p and its cash only. To feed two adults now costs me over £30 and I could do a weekly shop for that.

Oakley Fish Bar refuses to take contactless payments for orders of less than £10.00. In this day an age of a cashless society this is unacceptable. After finishing a days work I wanted to get Fish and Chips for just me but ended up walking out because of this.

What have you done to your pizzas, they used to be good. Just had ham and pineapple and it was crap. Go back to old recipe and cooking method. Horrible taste left in my mouth

I visited my local fish bar the Saturday just gone. Since lockdown I missed my fish and chips. Walking by from local shops, I noticed it was open. What a greeting I recieved. Ref and Claire were so polite and so nice to see them again. I wish all the shops I visit had this nice attitude. I ordered fish and chips and it was excellent. Cooked to perfection. Not a scrap left. Recommended to visit and try great food with a great friendly service Garry

With 9 of us around the house on new years eve we opted for a chippie from Oakley Fish Bar and as always the food was great. Ordered over the phone and collected it 20 minutes later. The service is also very good with polite staff. If I was to criticise one area it would be that they don't take card payments. I went to Tesco Express hole in the wall and it was out of service, so needed to take a trip to Morrisons to get cash! Get a card machine! Been coming to this fish and chip shop for 13 years now, long may it continue.

A good chip-shop. Staff are very friendly. I have came hear after 9.30pm on a weekday and the Fish was not fresh. Kebabs are good but always seem to run out when I have attended. Great parking..

Came in yesterday to get fish and chip at 14.30 , young man had to fry me fresh fish , the knowledge and expertise of this guy was amazing. I hope the manager of the shop pass these comments onto him , it always good to be appreciated by your boss. The fish was unbelievable, first bite took me back to the sea side

Always use this chippy. Super clean, great service and decent food. What's not to like. Even caters for the local Scottish connections.

My husband usually pops in for fish & chips on a Friday after work. We have always been happy with our fish & chips. It is local and walking distance if necessary.

We have been going to this fish bar since it’s biggest rival was shut and over that time we have stayed loyal since it reopened, although we don’t visit often, tonight we decided to have a treat after being good since the turn of the year. The fish was terrible dry and chewy over cooked, so much so my wife had to leave hers. So much for a treat really disappointed. We did call and fair play we were offered new piece of fish but after tasting that we declined!

We visit every month as our family treat. Highly recommend to anyone. Friendly staff, the best chips and generous portions.

Went for evening meal after a long day of shopping. Quick to order and when we got the food home it was still hot and extremely delicious! They don’t take card but there is a cash point at the three doors down Tesco!

Good fish and chips I have never had a bad meal from Oakley Fish Bar, It has become our place to go to all good fish and not dried out when you get them home . Give it a try you wont be disappointe .

As a 'fish & chip' shop, this is by far the best I've ever experienced. The shop is spotlessly clean, the staff are friendly, and the quality of the food provided is excellent, not greasy or small portioned. As for price, I would say that they are mid-ranged, but worth every penny, given the quality and taste of their food. They have won awards for their food and for their standard of Health and Safety. No wonder, I have awarded them 5 out of 5.

I use this shop on a weekly basis when I know the manger is there ( lad) but when there this weekend and he wasn't although food was ok the services just wasn't the same I hope he hasn't left because I will find another shop if he has , fingers crossed he's back this week

This chip shop is definitely one of the best Corby has. The food is fresh and delicious. They do your burgers from order and are really lovely. The fish is huge so if you haven’t got a massive appetite a child size portion might be better for you.

I've been using this chippy for 10 years and always had delicious food apart from when the lady is running the shop she is rude and doesn't know what she is doing and that's the only reasons I can thing is why there's a few bad reviews but the lad is a1 he's there most days and he's so friendly and goes out off his way for you . Best chippy in corby see you again very soon .

Lived in Corby for years and have tried all the Chip shops. In my view the Oakley Fish Bar is consistently the best in recent years. Staff friendly, food is great and a great variety of things to eat.

Went on a weekday afternoon. Had fish, chips and a pie. The food was all sat there in the cabinet and the shop was empty, now i know why! The pie was only just warm, the fish was solid and again only just warm, the chips were hard, crispy and warm, and tasted bland. VERY disappointed. WHY would you serve food like this?? The food had obviously sat there from lunch time. Most went in the bin and it wasn't cheap! What a complete waste of money.

Ordered haddock again. Not cooked to order. Batter not crispy, fish not fresh, poor overall. Would not go again.

This was my first visit since it has been refurbished. Ordered two haddock which were already cooked. Usually they are fried to order so I wasn't sure about this. Fish wasn't as fresh as it could be. Plenty of chips. Hopefully fish will be fresher next time.

its so nice the people the food the atmosphere everything suggest it to everyone I vivsit every Friday afternoon cause its always buys during the day

He usado este "fish and chips" por más de 4 años desde que se muda a Corby, y encontrar el pescado y patatas fritas bien cocinada y de muy buena calidad, y el servicio es muy bueno, incluso cuando no está ocupado la espera larga.

Por las noches, la comida es estupenda, probablemente porque hay mucho más personalizados. La hora del almuerzo, el aspecto y el sabor de las patatas fritas que han estado en el iva todo el día

Visitamos después de trabajar un viernes por la noche. Tan popular que la cola estaba fuera de la puerta. No tuve que esperar mucho, el servicio fue rápido. Abadejo era fresca y sabrosa pasta. Volvería de nuevo.

Aún así genial, he estado yendo a este fish and chips por 9 años y medio, nunca hemos tenido ninguna comida que no ha sido genial. Nuestros padres siempre comentar lo bueno que es, mis padres vienen de Scarborough, así que creo que es un cumplido.

fresh fish. delicious fries. Portion big enough for its price. I recommend. Number one in the area for fish and chips. Reccomend.

Never been disappointed with any of the food we have had from here. Nothing on the menu that we haven't tried over the years. Lovely friendly staff matches the lovely food. Well done.

This is our local fish and chip bar, and even if it wasn't I would travel to it! The food is always good quality, piping hot and great portion size. Would recommend any to try!

Love this chippy, they sell just about anything, from traditional fish & chips to burgers and kebabs, very large portion are served to you! This has to be the best chippy in Corby!

Well not sure what people want from a chippy going by other reviewers, but Wind your neck in, it's a chippy and its bloody fantastic. Great fish, massive chips. Yes I think they do leave the skin on, so what! go south and we always leave the skin on. Yum yum, Keep it up guys bloody love what you do, and for the price you got to love it, not to say it's less for the price cos it's not, I don't know how he does it, these are great fish and chips.

Very good quality fish with big helpings of chips. Always freshly cooked.Full menu. Very tasty. Very clean.

I think the heading says it all doesn't it. The food is overrated. Do not eat the fish. Bones and skin is what you will get. 2 out of 10.

Have visited a few times and has been a bit of a hit and miss.Thick rubbery skin left on fish was a bit disgusting.

Not much wrong with this place Great Staff that are quick on there feet There must have twenty or more people in the fish bar But I was in and out in Fifteen Minutes I'm just sorry you cant sit down and eat in the place as this would be a great place for a quick meat Happy to say I'll be Back

Just been in there and the friendly staff are there always wanting to please . The manager is very helpful and knowledgeable in everything you need that they serve . 5 star is not good enough should be 5 golden stars plus

The member of staff was serving me, she turned to people behind me in the queue and said rudely 'you need to wait, I need to get the trays full!' The gentleman behind me walked out, the employee said 'that's not the right attitude....right, I'll setve one more then I'm shutting the door and locking it!!' This was on 12/01/2015 at approximately 4pm. I always use this chip shop....I sure won't be now and I won't be condoning bad customer service.

love our weekly chippy from here. the shop is spotlessly clean and never had a bad fish & chips, burger, kebab you name it all tasty & great size chip portions & variety of sauces, best chip shop ive found outside Scotland! now all you need to sell is a white pudding supper & battered cheeseburger & you'd be the perfect chippy!

I have been buying food here on and off for 7 + years and it is always consistently good with good portions. The place is always immaculate as well.

excellent value for money ,one helping is plenty for two people ,the fish chips are excellent.all so the pies are good ,the restaurant also do currys which very good as well,chicken pies etc.gets very busy at night.fridays long wait.
