Have dined here quite a few times and generally have been very pleased. But oh dear.....our Valentine's dinner was not up to standard. We specified brown bread with our prawn cocktails and this was well past it's freshness date. Both our main courses were not up to scratch....although our sweets were okay. Service to be fair was pretty good......but the cost of £45.00p. per head was not good and was poor value.

On Monday 11th Dec we attended the Matlock Lions Christmas dinner along with perhaps 25 others. The menu choices were varied ( we had chosen in advance) and the food quality was very good indeed. The young waiting staff were friendly, polite and efficient and they managed to serve us all hot main courses in a short space of time. All in all, a lovely group meal dining experience.

We have always been happy with the friendly Sunday lunch food and lovely staff. We booked today for a treat lunch. I rang at 12 noon on Thursday to book-an answering phone message was in place, a lady rang back and wr booked for 2pm today. We arrived - no booking!!! The wine order was wrong, the lunch arrived without Yorkshire puddings (they were in the menu), coffee arrived before the puddings. After waiting 25 minutes still no pudding, so I asked the waitress - it had been totally forgotten and she said the order was still sitting on the pass, so we declined pudding. What a stressful Sunday lunch, never been known before. The restaurant was virtually empty and there were plenty of staff around. No chocolate mint with the coffee as there usually is. What's gone wrong? The waitress just took a small amount off the wine. She left the card machine on the table while she went off to do another job. I printed a receipt myself, I was waiting for Basil Faulty to appear. So sorry things appear to have changed so much as this used to be a friendly and relaxed place to partake of Sunday Lunch.

This place is now my favourite eating place, great food at sensible prices. Staff are polite, helpful and smartly dressed. There is adequate parking , the building itself has undergone substantial improvements. Bright, clean and very inviting. Only problem now it's getting too busy! Well you can't have everything!

This restaurant is part of the Oakhill Hotel and is set in a pleasant quiet location. Care is needed accessing the hotel drive via a narrow lane and junction. We ate here whilst staying at the hotel for two nights and had breakfast and dinner on two days. The menu provides a good choice and our specific dietary requirements were well catered for by adjusting some ingredients, where possible. The breakfast is served rather than a buffet, which adds to the relaxation, when time is not critical. The food for all meals was excellent as was the service, although dinner service on the second night did not match the level of the first night. There was a different set of staff and whilst they were friendly and pleasant enough, they did not appear to be as highly trained. Nevertheless, we would still visit again

We were here for Sunday lunch & although the menu is limited it covers all bases. The sea bass was a particular highlight. Service is friendly & efficient. A visit in better seasons would take advantage of the extensive back garden.

Mum's 91st birthday lunch, a lovely varied menu with great options for a smaller appetite, including the daily specials. Our choices included the special chicken and chestnut mushroom pie, steak and ale pie as well as gammon steak lighter bites, left a bit of room for dessert and coffee! Super atmosphere, friendly service and excellent value, highly recommended!

A great venue for lunch and dinner. Also a nice place to visit for coffee and cake Always a warm welcome from the staff. Can recommend the light lunch. Great value at under a tenner for a tasty plate full. Can heartily recommend the liver and bacon!!! A nice garden to sit in when the weather is suitable.

Sunday the 6th of November we celebrated our mums 91st Birthday at Oak Hill, Cromford for Lunch. Fabulous house and gardens within walking distance of Cromford For an old building it was surprisingly warm, cosy with a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff were lovely, the food was amazing I was asked by my Mum - (make sure you put an excellent review online) This has never happened before - we have been out many many times with Mum and no place has pleased her so much. We will be coming to see you again soon. Thank you

We have dined here four times in the last ten months the most recent being the 6th and 10th September 2022, and we are touring the locality wining and dining!! The venue, staff and food are fantastic only supported by how busy it was on a Tuesday and Saturday. I had the focaccia to start and it was exquisite, followed on both occasions with Lambs liver, a brilliant ensemble of Liver, black pudding mash and bacon crisp a real delight. Not to be missed if in the area, enjoy.
