By far the best Fish I have ever eaten! The staff are amazing, i would not go anywhere else in Matlock!

Decent fish & chips. Prices not bad, and normal + kids sizes good. Hours on Google Maps wrong as we ordered at 1630 on a Wednesday. No complaints at all, would happily go here again if in Matlock Bath. Oh yeah and happy with the curry sauce.

First time visiting Tuckers and was very impressed! Gluten free chips and friendly service. We even ordered another portion of the chips as they were so tasty! Dog friendly and went the extra mile with a free sausage for him that they had spare. Will be visiting again and letting my gluten free friends know about this hidden treasure! We finished off with ice creams, (we ate the chips too quick to take a photo!)

Best chippy we’ve had for a long time. Beats all the chippys in our local area and even though it’s an hours drive each way me and the family have visited Matlock the last couple of weekends just for exact reason of going here for tea. The staff are all really bubbly and friendly and accommodating every time to us and our level 3 autistic young son. They even come to check that everything is ok with your meal if you dine on premises which you don’t get often at a chip shop so is a nice touch, with a great selection of food and dessert shop all connected into the same place there’s enough to fill everyone up and keep the kids happy in one place and this last visit we ran abit late and into traffic on the way and even though we didn’t know the closing time and arrived right at closing time and when everything was starting to be cleaned down they cooked us our fish and chips for us and friends knowing we had travelled to visit, still made us food even though it was wholly our fault for arriving at closing and definitely would of made them stay late. As bad as we felt when realising we arrived at closing, no one moaned or made it clear what mistake we had made and still made us feel as welcome as ever, with everything cooked to the exact perfection as we always get, you don’t get that kind of service often and just made us appreciate the place and staff all the more. Next time the weathers nice and we have a free day we’ll definitely be making the trip back up to Matlock just to visit tuckers 110%. Thankyou to the owners and staff for introducing us to a goldmine of a fish and chips tea.

The staff where really friends unfortunately that was the only thing going for this place, the chips where under cooked and tasteless, the fish tasted okay however very greasy, not sure what they cook it in but it left yellow grease marks on the napkin. Tables looked like they needed a good clean too.

We were a large family group.The fish shop was very clean,excellent quality food that everyone remarked on…fish was really very tasty & cooked well…prices were very reasonable also …all the staff were very friendly …would have no hesitation recommending this fish shop…👍

The best fish and chips in Matlock Bath. The gluten free menu is extensive - fish, chips, curry, gravy, peas. The fish is always so fresh and delicious. Friendliest staff in the town too. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating areas. This legendary restaurant has been in the same family for many decades and it shows through with quality of the food and service. There is also an ice cream shop in the restaurant serving delicious locally sourced dessert

Gluten-free heaven 😋.. Staff are fully aware and knowledgeable about coeliac food intolerance, which was so reassuring for my partner, who is coeliac. I also prefer gluten-free batter, and this is the best. From the moment we walked in to leaving, it was a lovely experience. Fish was tasty and chips both plentiful and perfectly cooked. 5* for the food and staff.

We sat outside & what a view to overlook. My 10 yrs old grandson said it was 10/10 & said the food was delicious. Stopped here for lunch yesterday during our visit to Matlock Bath. 3 battered sausage and chips and drinks for less than £20. The food is served by friendly, polite staff and was very well cooked. There is a lot of places to eat here but this place is worth a visit if you are looking for good food at a decent price.

Ordered 2x regular Fish and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. Food was ready immediately. Fish was tasty and batter crisp. Chips a bit too soft n wobbly for me Mushy peas watery Curry sauce had a nice spice, hit the spot more than ketchup would. Condiments were chargeable (ketchup, mayo, etc) which was a shame. Vinegar n salt free self service. Not a fan of clearing your own plates and cutlery into various bins. Seating was fine. Price, well. Other tables near by were explaining how expensive it was. But as a Londoner it was cheaper than my local. All staff seemed to be 16yrs old which was a bit of a suprise at 5pm on a Saturday. But heyho, they did a reasonable job, but they were more interested in messing about with each other than making the customers experience the best. Lots of chatter. Leave you waiting at the till until they finish their conversation (not work related) and so forth. But what more can you expect from young staff? Over all, happy with the experience, would go again. But there are definitely areas to improve on if they wanted to up their game.

Lovely fish and chips, not greasy. We got the kids fish and chips and they were a manageable size! Dog friendly place so my border collie sat under the benches in the cafe while we ate. Lovely ice cream too.

This is the best fish and chip shop EVER!!! Food is absolutely delicious the best fish and chips I have eaten in a long time. Travelled an hour to get here but would drive again just for the food and the fantastic ice cream shop located within the premises. Staff very helpful kind and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. My son had a severe allergy and they were very accommodating with this. The owner is such a lovely lady and will do anything for you. We will see u again very soon! Bog standard chippy. Was expecting more after reading the reviews. Portion size is tiny for a chip shop. Taste is okay, taste like most other chip shops. Fish was okay, a bit soggy. Curry sauce is nice, leaning more towards Indian curry rather than traditional chip shop curry.

Wowza. Food was amazing. Possibly the best fish I’ve had for a very long time. Fresh and tasty. They looked after us and were friendly and great with the kids.

Lovely atmosphere, we both visited this place after a few hours in Matlock. We were impressed by our server Davina who used BSL to sign to us to take our order and brought our food over to our table, very friendly attitude and polite. No deaf barriers here and very impressed!!

Food was delicious, didn’t take long too cook and tasted really fresh. Asked for a regular fish which I would say was more like a small but by far one of the best fish and chips I’ve eaten

Probably the best fish & chips we have ever had (and we have sampled many). The batter was crisp and light, the fish was delicious and the chips were spot on. The curry sauce and mushy peas were perfect. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the prices were very good given the top quality of the food. You can sit outside (as we did) and the tables, cutlery etc. were spotless. Top class and highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing fish and chips and curry sauce is just an icing on the cake. Curry sauce is a must. All the staff, especially Divina is amazing. 10/10 for everything. Well done. How big is the mini fish and chips? Its a big portion but you will want bigger because its delicious.

Nice chippy, well priced but 40p for a sauce sachet? Busy weekend but staff seemed to cope well.

After waiting 5 minutes in an empty shop I was finally served , I only enquired about a menu that shows on Google (which you can change) about something I thought sounded nice , but then was bombarded with a conversation about price changes since covid. The food was nice , but wow learn customer service

Fish and chips bought overall poor, oil needed replacing, small fish. Battered sausage and chips was not happy and was replaced, I enjoyed the chips.

Everything was brilliant, good quality, great taste, fair price & very helpful staff. Gluten Free every day, staff very aware of coeliac needs, separate utensils, no cross contamination, even separate vinegar & price the same as everyone else's. Also all the sides, peas, gravy, curry sauce were gluten free too. I felt completely at ease eating there as their knowledge is spot on. Had to thank them when leaving as it was a year since I had dared to trust a "chippy tea" ! We will definitely be returning. Thank you again.

Went in after running from Ripley to Matlock bath. 12 of us and staff handled the increase of customers with no worries. Bit pricey but it is Matlock bath

I went to Tuckers Fish and Chips on Saturday with a friend where we ordered a Large Gluten free fish, gluten free chips and mushy peas. They even have gluten free vinegar. Firstly the gluten free options cost no more than their normal fish and chips which was excellent. The staff working there were extremely friendly and helpful, full of smiles and chat, which was lovely. The price was also very competitive. One of the girls brought the meal to us and it was, without doubt, one of the nicest fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time. The batter was just the right thickness, crispy and delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked. The peas were also perfect, not too thick and not too runny and had a lovely flavour. The chips were excellent. Crisp outside and fluffy inside and were a very appealing golden colour. I spoke to the owners and thanked them and made it clear how much we had enjoyed our lunch. It is hard to do something different and excellent in a very competitive market. There are probably eight or nine other fish and chip shops in Matlock Bath. I am a big believer in giving praise where it is due and on every level this was a brilliant experience. I know because I once owned my own fish and chip shop and don’t offer praise like this lightly. Thank you again to all at Tuckers. You will have my loyal custom every time I visit.

Incredible gluten free chips and battered sausage with mushy peas. Perfect for coeliac/celiac as they have their own fryer and the staff are clued up on cross contamination. We were served by a lovely young chap and young lady and they were excellent!

Great fish and chips. Best in the area. On our visit there were 3 young members of staff on their first shift on a busy Sunday. They were really professional and friendly. One very young girl was super. Dog friendly as well......George our Cavachon had a free chopped up sausage. Well done everyone.

We'd been to Heights of Abraham and decided to finish off the day with some fish and chips. We've seen on Google that took us seemed to be highly rated and it certainly lived up to its expectation. Service was fab, food cooked fresh and was quick to be done and it tasted absolutely gorgeous. Whenever in the area we will definitely return.

Can't comment on how good the fish is, as never got to taste it! What I can comment on is the poor service! Four young members of staff chatting to each other whilst I was waiting at the counter (seemed like ages). Couple walked in behind me and got served immediately. After passing comment of dissatisfaction, the seemingly most senior staff member told me "not to worry about it"!!!! So we all headed for the fish and chip shop next door 'Taste of the Waves' which we can highly recommend on quality, presentation, service and the price. Really not sure what they teach young people these days. An apology would have been a nice gesture and negative feedback such as this would not have been necessary!!

Visited 27th August 2023. Great Gluten Free menu. Had a lovely meal, staff very helpful and friendly with a great atmosphere. This was the first fish and chip shop where my daughter could have a GF battered sausage. Best fish and chip shop in Matlock Bath. Will definitely be going back.

We visited Tucker's with some young patients from Derby & Burton Children's Hospitals and the staff at Tucker's couldn't have been more helpful. We had heard fantastic things about their Gluten Free options and they did not disappoint. We had various requirements and they catered brilliantly to each of them - their knowledge around Gluten Free options was especially reassuring and the quality of these products is exceptional. It'd be easy to mistake these for "normal". The staff sectioned off an area of seating for our patients which was especially helpful for those with additional needs and made our experience even better. The food was served fresh, promptly and was DELICIOUS - everyone left with a big smile on their face and a full tummy. The manager and her staff were just lovely - they couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely be coming back next time! Thank you

I've never seen so many fish n chip shops along one road as there are in Matlock but we stumbled across Tuckers and enjoyed our chip shop dinner. Staff are very pleasant, they all seem to enjoy working there.

The food has a whole was nice but i asked for a gluten free battered sausage with chips and peas. A long with the rest of the order. Upon the first bite of the sausage I noticed straight away that it was not gluten free. NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. You need to make sure the staff understand that normal sausage are not gluten free and it's not just how it is prept and cooked. The rest of the service we receive here was great. The Young gentleman that served us in particular was very polite.

Asked for cheesy chips didn't realise they would microwave the chips to melt the cheese, however they did instantly make me fresh without microwaving the food

Stopped for lunch on a hot day in summer hols, lots of space to sit outside, service was really friendly, fish super crispy and ice cream yummy, we had chips at one of the bikers chippies up the road and they were nowhere near as good!

Visited today and the service was amazing , friendly faced staff and very helpful.Our son has a couple of allergies gluten and peanut which makes eating out difficult unless I bring him seperate food. Excellent food, great staff, and all of seating was clean and tidy, good portion sizes for what you are paying for.

Went with as a family of 4 with 2 small children. Staff very accommodating and the place is also handy in that it comes with an ice cream store, so the kids and adults were able to have ice cream after fish and chips dinner. Fish was quite nice, not too large or small. Staff manager Davina also knows British Sign Language which is helpful for myself and my husband as we are deaf. Would recommend the place.

A bit over priced but the food is lovely they could do with a larger portion of peas as always have to order two pots as very small portions
