No, no , no ... it's changed hands and wow.. I had to walk out, fish looks burnt to hell, so disappointing, used to be fantastic. As a local that lives within 500 metres I would warn anyone away, rubbish.

Highly disagree with the other reviews. The staff were lovely and very good service. The food was fresh and I was served a very good portion for what I ordered/paid!

Really nice fish and chips We got here 4:30 pm here and all food was there freshly prepared lovely haddock also cod and chips for good price, really fresh no fishy smell or anything, ate it with pleasure, great for people not on diet lol then we went for beer and it was all good experience we will be bck for more for our lunch meal thanks

This use to be our go to for fish and chips but not so much anymore. Its been hit and miss the last few times which is a shame. Hoping it could possibly still be down to still fine tuning with the cooking side. The staff though are lovely and polite and cannot fault their customer service

The staff are always friendly and happy. Reasonable pricing, good choice and taste First visit this year and seems to be under new owners and new staff. I would say its slightly improved. Fish, chips and curry sauce for £6 and its a good sized portion. I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely visit again

Don't buy your fish and chips from here. The chips are refried, the fish is dry and over cooked, and tastes like the oil hasn't been changed for weeks.

First time trying here tonight, lovely food will be back. Only negative I would say is specials are tiny more for small appetites, if your after a good portion order food separately that way you will get a good portion.

Never been let down with the quality and always friendly service

Fish and chips very poor, quality is nothing like it used be ,today's exceptionally poor we do not get fish and chips on a regular basis but have used this shop 3 times in the last 2 weeks which is unusual for us we commented on the quality of the previous 2 times but tried again today. We will not be using this shop again.

Very nice food but very small portions

Service was fairly quick but both myself and my daughter were disappointed with Haddock (small thin and soggy) and Scampi (mostly breaded batter and also soggy). We paid for cheesy chips and there was no cheese on them. We only rarely have a takeaway these days and wish we'd have spent the £22 on something from one of the supermarkets.

Excellent service. The lady was most attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, forks, napkins, etc. The food was excellent as welln

Disagree with some of the reviews, seriously can’t fault this Chippy! I’m a very fussy eater when it comes to my dinner and week in week out food is always constantly and cooked to perfection! Best Chippy by far in town. Very friendly staff, always polite and going the extra mile for their customers. Great access and parking. Very clean shop! 5*****

Soggy fish and chips not made with any real effort. Fish and batter fell apart and chips were fatty. Clearly not run to the same standards as the last owners. What a shame as this fish and chip shop used to be the best in Oakham.

We live in Uppingham, but chose to come to this chippy as it is always so fresh and beautifully cooked and served by very friendly staff.

Have been coming to this chip shop for some years and always had decent fish and chips. Went last week and bought fish chips and mushy peas for 6 people. Chips ok but most of the fish ended up in the bin! Mushy peas tasted of nothing and colour was closer to yellow than green. Really disappointing so will not be returning.

Well if i could give 0 stars i may, as the reason being is that i went into the shop very good management before the new owners came in. my friend went to get a drink he put it back as i learned about the £3 minimum for card, he then proceeded to place his drink back and left then a women behind the counter shouted at my friend “hey give that drink back” after he had taken nothing and left the shop to continue his day. My other friend came in and took his coat of where he supposedly put the ‘stolen drink’ and started shacking and nothing happened he then patted down his torso and legs and also find nothing. apart from his iphone 7. And after i had paid and we didn’t even get an apology until we had to intervene and ask for an apology for accusing my friend of stealing. my friend said not even an apology how rude. and the friend who was accused says i didn’t even take anything and the women behind the counter says ‘you shouldn’t call people Karen’s’. and we stated nothing of the sort to her. this chip shop has turned downhill after old the owners had left. ik devastated to say this after this being my favourite and go to chip shop that i no longer favour this shop anymore. After accusing my friend of stealing.

Been going to this chip shop for years. Went today came home half my order missing , the food was cold and only live few minutes away.

There are a few chippy's on Oakham but this is the best. The service is fast as there is always plenty of staff working and they always serve high-quality food.

The Fish bar is open at some good times for early or late lunches. The specials are really well priced and quick service. Good, friendly staff offering wrapped or open cartons.

Excellent place ( see what I did there? ) . Lovely food and wonderful chips. Definitely be back.

I have worked here for 6 years and the food has always been amazing. The place is kept incredibly clean and has won 'best chips in Oakham' on numerous occasions.

Spent £25 here tonight just to get it home and there be a long, coarse, black hair buried in the batter of the haddock! Absolutely gross!!!! Would not go back, completely REVOLTING. Threw the entire order away.

We were staying locally in self catering accommodation. We tried the Oakham Fish bar one evening and were not disappointed. We both had haddock, chips and peas - all good, nicely cooked. Well worth a visit.

Visited this fish and chip shop whilst on a driving course for the ambulance service. The staff were very friendly when we arrived. The fish and chips were very good and well worth the visit

The food is good, but i have yet to collect an order which actually contained everything I asked (and paid) for. I was really looking forward to some curry sauce... Sad times...

My honest beliefs, best chip shop in rutland, and very good value for money

Had a large cod and chips, sufficient for two last week only to have to throw it in the bin. The fish was so dry that I would not have given it to the cat and the chips must have been the previous weeks.Used to be the best in town but Ill not be using them again.

The fish and chips are usually very good but on arriving this evening not one member of staff was wearing a face mask. I appreciate its not a requirement and its a hot environment to work in but personally I'd rather take my custom elsewhere or eat home cooked food than food prepared and served by people who don't meet the same standards the people in the queue.
