The steak tasted boiled not fried and the onions were sparse and undercooked. This was not a good steak baguette. Nice service though in good surroundings.

Called mid morning for coffees & scones and we noticed one or two changes since the business was taken over, our latte coffees came in small cups and the scones were very dry, I asked if the scones were fresh and was told that they'd been made earlier that day, the young girl replaced my scone and the second one was slightly better but wasn't great, the scones might be home made but they were definitely made from a scone mix. Still a great place to visit but we will stay clear of the scones in the future.

Food is was tasty and plentiful but surprised to see all cutlery in large baskets and not brought individually wrapped with the food. Anyone could have touched the cutlery and I selected the forks etc needed and wiped them down thoroughly before passing them onto family members. I had a really tasty coronation chicken filled jacket potato. Later we had a cappuccino and a very nice hot chocolate.

I have been a frequent flyer at this tea room and have always been happy with the choice and quality of the meals. Until recently. Things appear to have gone down hill some what. I went to the oak tree with a friend on Thursday last week. We both had mac and cheese, mine with chips and my friends with salad. We both started eating then I found a fly in the middle of my mac and cheese. It was disgusting. The staff member I spoke to apologised, just, and offered me a repeat meal or something else. Couldn't face mac and cheese so had a baked potato. My friend struggled bravely through her mac and cheese. Another staff member brought over £2 which was the difference between the cost of my 2 meals. Thank you for that huge offer of compensation for such a disgusting experience. I should have followed my first instincts which was to inform the food hygiene authorities or environmental health as standards are sadly lacking some where in this establishment. Thank for the free meat Oak Tree but I'm off flies at the moment. Jane Clasper

Stayed at the Black Bull as a stop off coming down from Skye. The room was perfect for our family of four with bunk beds and toys for the little ones and a very thoughtful dog tray with bowls, blankets and even some food. It was perfect after a long day of driving. We will definitely be making it our go to place to stay whenever we are in the area.

Popped in for breakfast. 1 vegetarian and 1 Scottish. Plenty choices, great portions, tasty maple syrup pancakes and great service. Maybe a bit pricey at almost £20 but the food was good.

Excellent service with you ordering everything from your table which is very convenient. Good choice of food although children’s menu could be better and there were no pizzas which dissapointed our youngest grandchild. We all enjoyed what we ordered and look forward to calling again soon.

Recently came here for coffee and pastry. Service was great, pastrie was good but coffee was terrible. Perfectly located right near the highway near the shopping center.
