Oak Kitchen in Birmingham

Estábamos en el ICC para una presentación en el Symphony Hall antes de entrar pensamos que tomaríamos un café en Oak Kitchen, desafortunadamente no tienen café DeCaff, así que optamos por una taza de té que venía en una taza de plástico con bolsa de té y 2. 30 por taza, pensé que era un poco caro, el té muy promedio Lo único bueno fue que era conveniente para el Symphony Hall.

I visited The Oak Kitchen yesterday 26/03/2019 during a conference. The staff were friendly and efficient, however, I needed a Vegan meal and there wasn't any choice on your menu apart from some tacos with guacamole, pickled red cabbage and cauliflower with paprika. Along with this was a rather burnt looking sweet potato wedge and about a quarter of sweetcorn on the cob. Whoever sanctioned this as a main meal needs to look at the Trades Descriptions Act as it was far from what I would consider a meal. The whole thing (apart from looking very sparse on a huge rectangular enamel dish), was just about edible, with no taste whatsoever. My friend, who paid for the meal had a substantial-looking plate of fish and chips. She also said it was bland and tasteless. We only ate our food because we had medication to take. We both agreed that the meals were bland and far below our expectations. I did initially want to have the vegetarian sweet potato curry but was told by the cashier that it wasn't vegan as it contained dairy products so I ended up with a cold snack instead of a hot meal. In 2019, I am sure that there could be a better and more varied choice for vegans. There wasn't an option for side orders like salad or chips so only meals could be ordered. I don't think that my meal was worth £10.50. There was only a drizzle of avocado. The pickled cabbage wasn't picked. It just tasted like sugar and a sprinkle of vinegar had been added to chunky sliced red cabbage. The cauliflower (the few that they were) we barely cooked and cold and apart from looking a funny brownish colour, I couldn't taste any paprika. This wasn't satisfying as a meal or filling. Luckily for me, there was no vegan cakes or puddings on the menu.

I don't usually expect much from self service restaurants at exhibitions but the Oak Kitchen is the exception. I am in my 70's and disabled and my son helps with my care. Some things improve the experience for the disabled. For example wide aisles for wheelchair access, friendly helpful staff and pre-prepared food such as sandwiches at wheelchair height where I can see them before selecting my choice or being given what someone else has chosen for me. This restaurant had clearly thought out the needs of the disabled customer. There was an extremely helpful young woman on the checkout tills who seemed always to be smiling even though I had difficulty getting money from my purse. The food was not unduly expensive and I accept that many people visiting classic car shows seem to expect 1950's prices. The quality was good and the food well prepared. This is the standard the disabled should expect everywhere but is sadly lacking in the UK. Well done Oak Kitchen you added to and excellent visitor experience.

We both had fish and chips - probably amongst the worst we've ever had. The fish was rubbery, thin and grey-brown; the batter was over cooked. The chips were quite limp and all was greasy. The price was an excessive £11.50 each. Never again!!

Went to the caravan show and didn’t bring my usual picnic. Meal was expensive for what it was but it was hot and freshly prepared. Next show I will be better prepared.

2nd time IV been here and it's an absolute joke it's so expensive The staff are slow and every single one of them looks lost. This was the same as last time I was here in march

En retrospectiva, habría sido mejor ir a uno de los restaurantes en el complejo The Canalside.

Fui a uno de los puntos de venta de Oak Kitchen mientras visitaba una exposición en el NEC. Los precios eran más altos que pagarías en High Street, pero luego éramos una audiencia cautiva. Para mí, la unidad no era lo suficientemente grande para el tamaño de la sala de exposiciones. Más de la mitad del espacio en el restaurante estaba ocupado con mostradores para servir, mostradores de autoservicio y cajas. No había lugares lo suficientemente cerca para sentarse una vez que había comprado su comida.En retrospectiva, debería haber salido de la exposición a uno de los puntos de venta de alimentos conocidos en el área pública del NEC.

Visité ayer y hoy mientras estaba en la feria de primavera. La dama en la caja era una joya. Muy trabajador y muy amable. La comida era excelente, tanto el pollo al horno en una cama de puerros y el bistec, en hierbas y pan de ajo verdaderamente delicioso.

Decidimos tener una comida evento comprobar aquí la semana pasada. La comida estaba caliente y se sirve en platos calientes. El precio era promedio para el centro de Birmingham y si tienes prisa como nosotros, comiendo y está listo para ver el espectáculo de 30 minutos es una verdadera ventaja. Usted no quiere visitar un restaurante y siempre mirando el reloj. El único inconveniente es que te tienes que comer, está en un lugar muy público y realmente necesita mirar como está al lado de un Starbucks, que tiene más espacio de lo que realmente necesita.

Good, helpful, cheerful, fast counter service, room to sit down when others are full, good prices, and proper café food instead of the expensive trendy rubbish available at other franchises. Really glad I chose to eat here, can recommend !

We had cappuccinos here before attending a conference event at the ICC .Very good and helpful lady assisted us on the self-serve coffee machines. Cappuccinos themselves average though

Cold chips Cold mushy peas Cold beer battered cod As there were only baked potatoes (with one topping option) and beer battered cod on the menu how difficult is this to serve at a reasonable temperature. At least the refund was processed OK.

Me decidí a comer en el restaurante de cocina de roble en el ICC, Birmingham, ya que tenía un relativamente corto tiempo para llenar antes de un concierto. La comida fue muy decepcionante, sin embargo. El salmón bien pero fue probado cajún tibio. The Oak Kitchen restaurant is convenient for anyone attending an event at the ICC. It can be a bit cold with the adjacent throroughfare and the doors always opening at each end of the mall. On the plus side the food is generally good.

Take your own packed lunch folks, unless you are happy to pay almost £8.00 for a Meal Deal that's usually £2.00 in a supermarket. How they can charge that for a sarnie, a bottle of Diet Coke and a bag of crisps is jaw-droppingly unbelievable.

refused to serve fresh veg, instead of salad with lasagne or with beef as that had roasted veg, veg was only allowed with salmon

I had a beef and bud and paid less then 10£. Beef was tender, fast wifi.Only thing that all customers around were over 60. But thats even better -no mayhem! Definitely would recommend

Popped in pre-Symphony Hall concert.The meal deal sounded reasonable and the Coffee and Cake were good.The Beef Bourgignon was very average and two of us only struggled through half of it.Wont be in a rush to return.

We enjoyed our coffee and cake at Oak Kitchen while waiting for our concert to start! The choice of food was limited but that was understandable but the coffee, cake and service was very good!

Popped in here a couple of times for lunch as you generally can get a seat. Staff always helpful when using the self service drinks machines. Food looks basic but nice and other cookies and the like available. Prices reasonable in comparison to other venues.

My friend and I were looking for somewhere to eat close to the REP Theatre as we were attending the matinee performance. We had passed the Oak Kitchen on many occasions, so has we were short of time we thought we would have a look. We decided to have jacket potatoes, and what a great decision we made, the best jackets I have tasted while eating out, the skins were well seasoned and the potatoes were perfectly cooked, the salmon filling was plentiful and flavoursome and was served with a small salad. My friend had the red Leicester cheese with spring onion and she was delighted. Will definitely visit again, a bargain at £5.95 each.
